Starting yet another thread as us chatterboxes have filled up 2 already!

Jucy, I'm so sorry to hear your news. Big hugs, wish there was something more I could say. Flowers

Frouby, if you're feeling crap just fuck the housework off, I do! It'll keep.

I'm scared and excited in equal measures about the scan on Friday. Looking forward to seeing bean and being able to get on with things. But obviously scared of getting bad news like Jucy... 2 days, 1 hour and 50 minutes to go!

My friend has offered to be a birthing partner too. I may well take her up on it, I suspect she'll be more help than OH. And as I'm planning on having a home water birth and OH has already invited his bloody mum (!) think it'll be good to have a friend there. I'm not private at all, have zero issues with people seeing me naked (as my neighbours will tell you) and she's seen me throw up enough times from our party days (though never shit myself to be fair) that I'm not too fussed about that.

Yep, I'm getting headaches too! I've been suffering from tiredness and headaches right from the start but luckily they're not as severe as they were in the first trimester.

I've also been getting the stretchy pains and twinges quite a lot lately and more recently it's actually started to feel like my hips and the very top of my inner thighs (right between the legs!) are being pushed apart... Has anyone else had this, or am I going mad?!

Oh and good luck dasie, hope it all goes well!

QueenofWhispers · 12/07/2013 10:25

...since we're talking about baby genders :)

When I was first pregnant I wanted my birth order to be: girl, girl, boy, boy. I've always wanted 4. Then when we had DS, I figured I'd like to have a second boy; start trying immediately for no.3 hoping it would be a girl. If it had turned out to be another boy I would have stopped at just 3 boys and adopted two girls a little later...I had planned all of this when I was 12...couldn't believe myself when I realised my planning doesn't mean squat.

I am really excited about this little girl though. Despite my wanting a specific birth order, I've always wanted boys and girls equally as bad.

I do have a grandmother (who is severely mentally impaired due to a very traumatic childhood+living through an 'ethnic cleansing') who prefers boys--so when I had my son first she did treat me like having a boy first was some sort of achievement. Never felt more disturbed; I may actually need to speak to someone about it.

mumoftwoboysS · 12/07/2013 11:22

good luck with the scan dasie!

alyssa definitely the last!! It was hard enough to convince DH to go for this one (he still wasn't sure when I conceived- oops!) but he's come round to it now. I don't think I could cope with more than 3, I struggle with two as it is sometimes!! I get into a panic every now and then thinking how will I cope with a baby and 2 very energetic boys- especially in the early days when lack of sleep is a killer! The last two times I haven't managed to bf for very long (combination of lack of support and bleeding nipples-ouch!) I really want to succeed this time (yes again, I put too much pressure on myself) but then caffeine and wine can't be my friend (at least not so much- I'm assuming babies don't do too well with lots of caffeine in their milk!)

Yeah I'll have to get my girl clothes kick from other people's children- I usually buy my friend's little girl clothes just for the fun of shopping for them!

mumoftwoboysS · 12/07/2013 11:23

...of course I don't know what I'm having yet but I'm convinced its a boy! And also read somewhere (wish I hadn't!) that the majority of babies with a higher nuchal fold are boys and mine is on the high side so I'm convinced its a sign

mumoftwoboysS · 12/07/2013 11:26

sorry queen just read your post but can't remember if you have any DC's already? I think adoption is a great idea but I think I'll have my hands full with my 3 lol! I know someone from school who has 5 kids. Her first was adopted- a little girl with a cleft palate she saw in an orphanage when she was travelling/living in China. She was only 19 and she saw this baby and knew she had to help/have her. I think she's an amazing person for doing this- it took a couple of years but she managed to adopt her then went on to have 4 more of her own.

Holly1977 · 12/07/2013 14:46

I've been having some twinges in the last few days too. Very low down in the middle, bit like a period pain might be if it didn't hurt. Growing twinges I reckon. Had the doppler out last night and where I finally found a heartbeat was exactly where I get these twinges so I'm sure it's all normal and to be expected.

How are we all coping with the heat? I'm really struggling. Got all windows open and the office fan blowing on some ice blocks which is quite nice. I feel very lethargic and get instantly buggered if I'm walking around outside, especially if there's no shade. But it's quite nice really, better than being cold. I'm sure once I adapt it'll be great. Was thinking I might go for a walk in the woods tonight once it's cooled down and walk my old running route.

I've been feeling a lot better these past few days and am sure it's because I've been meditating. The Horizon programme by Michael Mosley which I watched last night confirmed that, it's definitely worth a watch. I've only been sitting for 10 minutes each morning but I definitely feel better. And have been sleeping better. So much so that when I woke up for a wee this morning (not until 5am!) the ear that I'd been lying on was REALLY painful cos I'd obviously crashed out and not moved since I'd fallen asleep! I've also been reading a book about hypnobirthing and weirdly, am kind of looking forward to the birth now. Not least cos I won't be bloody pg any more (and can eat pate!) and I will finally finally finally after waiting my whole life finally have MY baby in my arms. Can't wait. Things aren't great still between OH and I but we've stopped arguing at any rate and hopefully we can start building some bridges now. I'm standing my ground about how things need to change and if he doesn't buck his ideas up, he's not moving in and that's that. Other than that, I'm not giving it any more thought.

mumoftwoboys

I do have a little boy already :) he'll be 5 in september.

DH and I had planned on only ever adopting in the beginning because I too was going to have a rock star career...turns out I'm not as gifted as I was touted to be; so then I tried being a trophy wife (which will never work as I am no where near thin, nor anywhere close to attractive...I make poor Susan Boyle look like Cindy Crawford).

Alyssa1978 · 12/07/2013 16:47

My nuchal fold was 1.8 mum.
My bf didnt last long last time either, def lack of support although I didn't have any bleeding nipples as I bought that expensive breast feeding nipple gel from boots (cant remember the name of it though) lol
Although I'm determined to stick to it this time.

3 is definately my limit, there is no way I could handle 4

Alyssa1978 · 12/07/2013 16:50

It may be lanolin nipple cream Smile

QueenofWhispers · 12/07/2013 18:44

:( our ceiling has collapsed.

MildredH · 12/07/2013 18:51

Hi all,

Anomaly scan this afternoon.. Was lovely and made everything seem more real. ( especially seeing as we totally broke our resolve about not finding out the gender and discovered we're having a pink bean!).

Only concern was that it only took about 10 minutes.. I expected it to take much longer- what were other people's experiences?

Hope all well- happy Friday Grin

MildredH · 12/07/2013 18:52

Oh queen! Sorry- cross posted. You poor thing- any idea why? Just what you don't need huh!

NomDeClavier · 12/07/2013 18:57

Queen I got congratulations from DH's family for having a boy first. I wanted a boy but no for their stupid reasons. :( about the ceiling. How bad is it?

Still about 4 week til our next scan. Far too bloody long! Not that I want to find out. Although I may crack.

Alyssa is it Lansinoh you're thinking of? Bloody miracle cream. But seriously if your nips are cracked and bleeding see a BFC because chances are your latch isn't right. Millimetres make a difference.

QueenofWhispers · 12/07/2013 19:36

Ceiling is pretty bad. Brown water coming through the floor of the flat above and trapped between our ceiling and their floor--all the wooden boards between are completely soaking wet.

When we called property manager she told us that we would have to call the fire brigade as she is going away for the weekend and she was running late.

forget about me though, I always seem to have some sort of drama these days.

congratulations MildredH on your pink Been!

Nom it's a weird feeling isn't it? I love my son, but his gender doesn't make him 'extra' special.

13loki · 12/07/2013 19:54

OH Queen massive Hugs. Hope you get the ceiling sorted. Our new (to us) car refused to go today as we were leaving IKEA. 2 buses to get home, and the car is still in IKEAs car park. The dealer basically said that it takes 2 years for trading standards to work through a complaint, so he'll talk to us then. I might spend my 14 months maternity leave outside his business warning people.

My parents get here on Wednesday, and he new car was meant to be so we could all travel together. Arrrrrgh!

Alyssa1978 · 12/07/2013 19:54

Yes nom that's the one I'm thinking of lol.
But yes baby should have your nipple all the way to the back of his/her mouth or the top of babies mouth rubbing you is what causes the painful nipples.

Correct latching is definately the key and putting the cream on before and after breast feeding lol

Oh no queen sorry about your ceiling.

Nom my DF family always say it doesn't matter what sex baby is but after 4 grandsons I'm sure my future mil would secretly like a girl, oh well her other daughter has no kids yet ( but no partner yet and pcos) but I'm almost certain she will be the one to have a little girl, I just hope she gets her wish one day and has a happy healthy baby of ANY GENDER as she totally adores her nephews.

QueenofWhispers · 12/07/2013 20:03

Thanks everyone for caring about my ceiling :) it's lovely to have nice people to speak to.

PistachioTruffle · 12/07/2013 20:04

Music, so glad the surgery went well, hope you're taking it easy and recovering well!

Queen, I hope the ceiling gets sorted out soon Sad

Congratulations to everyone having healthy anomaly scans and finding out the sex!
Mine isn't until the 26th, I can't wait.

I think we need an updated stats list, with gender if known! Shall I start?

NomDeClavier · 12/07/2013 20:48

Oh gosh :( that sounds awful Queen.

It is really weird how hung up some people get about gender when it's not their baby. I sort of understand parents having very strong preferences one way or the other for various reasons but when other people get involved it gets a bit bizarre. I mean I do understand my PILs reasons on an intellectual level - carrying on the family name etc is frightfully important to them but DH has a brother and really if we had DDs DH's brother might have DSs! I think it's because DH's father and grandfather were the only boys of their generation, and possibly his great-grandfather although there may have been more who didn't survive to adulthood, so the line has been a bit precarious for nearly a century. But seriously if it does die out it'll be a footnote in the history books! It's not like we live in times were the estate would pass put of the family and the dowager countess would be booted out to the workhouse! Aaaargh.

Sorry, there have been a couple of gender preference threads lately and it gets on my wick a bit.

It's not been a good day for you either, Loki :( Can you get the equivalent of the AA put to look at it? Sounds like the dealer is a right charmer!

2Labradors · 12/07/2013 22:18

Queen hope you can get your ceiling sorted

loki not good about your car Sad

I've had a bit of a strange day, been feeling a bit weird & not quite right. Managed to finish my day at work but when I got home I drank loads, 3 pints of diluted squash one after the other and I felt so much better for it. I thought I had been drinking enough in work but obviously I'm not.
This heat is not good for the pregnant body.

abcdemma · 12/07/2013 22:56

I love that feeling when you down loads of liquid and you can feel it refreshing you :)
Hope ceilings & cars get sorted soon... what a disaster!
I've been having the cramps and pains too, glad it's not just me since sometimes it can really hurt but had a listen to hb this morning and all's good. Just about starting to look pg too (am 19+2) which is kind of nice, and OH taken to feeling my bump more often as I'm getting bigger. Nice to see him bonding with bambino.

Anomaly scan next Tues and (if everything's ok) I will most likely give in and find out what colour clothes we can buy :)

froubylou · 13/07/2013 06:14

Morning all

Hope everyone is OK? Apart from ceilings falling down etc etc lol.

I was going to post the other day about those sharp pains when you wake up. Glad its not just me. I couldn't move the other night for them, and had to sort of roll over and get up really carefully. Instantly felt better when I had a wee though so didn't panic too much. Mine seems to be worse if I've slept on my back.

Busy weekend here. DD's 9th birthday on sunday. Having a disco and karaoke at local pub 1 til 3 for her and about 30 kids, then a BBQ at home for close friends and family. Got so much still to do lol. Was going to do it all yesterday afternoon but felt really rough when I got in from shopping for all the food and stuff that I just CBA. The weather is lovely if you can sit around all day and just drink iced water but not so good for traipsing around a huge retail park looking for a floral ra ra skirt for an almost 9 year old who had decided she needed one lol.

Have a lovely weekend everyone and try and enjoy the sunshine. I stocked up on alcohol free pear cider so intend to have plenty of that with plenty of ice and probably end up in the paddling pool later with the kids lol.

QueenofWhispers · 13/07/2013 09:44

G'Morning everyone! Hope everyone is doing well and will enjoy the day.

I hope our ceiling is fixed today. It's been a terrible mess all night.

kyz1981 · 13/07/2013 11:50

Queen - Hope you can get it fixed and all is ok.

Mildred - We totally gave in 3 mins before the scan and decided to find out- They think it may be a girl - but baby was keep its legs shut so the view was not totally clear- so we have decided to get a private gender scan to confirm.

TMI Alert The snot like discharge as long as it is clear is normal, its part of the plug that seals the surface of the cervix and regenerates throughout Pg- you may find you get more of this as you get closer to term.

Welcome to all the newbies have a few pages to catch up on as have been nursing my DD who has chicken Pox and I'm pretty certain that DS will come down with it in the next few days - a real pain but glad they are getting it when they are young.
