Starting yet another thread as us chatterboxes have filled up 2 already!

Jucy, I'm so sorry to hear your news. Big hugs, wish there was something more I could say. Flowers

Frouby, if you're feeling crap just fuck the housework off, I do! It'll keep.

I'm scared and excited in equal measures about the scan on Friday. Looking forward to seeing bean and being able to get on with things. But obviously scared of getting bad news like Jucy... 2 days, 1 hour and 50 minutes to go!

My friend has offered to be a birthing partner too. I may well take her up on it, I suspect she'll be more help than OH. And as I'm planning on having a home water birth and OH has already invited his bloody mum (!) think it'll be good to have a friend there. I'm not private at all, have zero issues with people seeing me naked (as my neighbours will tell you) and she's seen me throw up enough times from our party days (though never shit myself to be fair) that I'm not too fussed about that.

Ooh thinking of you Dasie.. Just think it'll get better.. 1st always the worst!

I've got nights in 2 wks- I think I will make this my last set if occ health will let me..

musiceverywhere · 02/07/2013 19:26

Hi ladies! Dasie, hope your nights go ok. Nom, how did u find cloth nappies? I'm tempted, but wondering about practicalities/ickyness! Violet, I love it when bus drivers do that! Glad it made you smile.
News here is that i finally saw consultant and have a date for surgery- next week! Really wasn't expecting it to be so soon and bit in shock. Have so much stuff to sort out at work before sick leave. Feel glad there's a plan, but obviously bit scared too Hmm But saw baby again and all looks well. Just have to hope for the best now.

Alyssa1978 · 03/07/2013 07:47

Morning ladies!
I've been up since 5am, DS wanted to be up but I'm trying to figure out how its my one day off work and DF has been off for 4 days yet I'm the one who's up while he's still in bed? Angry

Ooh scan a week tomorrow, I hope everything is ok and bean keeps his legs crossed and doesn't flash anything Grin

Have a great day everyone.

violetbean · 03/07/2013 08:30

music, good luck with the surgery prep, keep us up to date with how things go.

Very hard to get up this morning! Bed is so comfy....

Alyssa1978 · 03/07/2013 08:41

Yep so was mine Wink

TakingTheStairs · 03/07/2013 09:19

Morning.
Oh I did not want to get our of bed this morning either, it was so comfy.

Music Wow, that came around quick! Remind us what they're going to do (if you don't mind)

Dasie and Mildred good luck with your nights.

QueenofWhispers · 03/07/2013 09:29

Hi guys!

So I forgot about not going into a hot tub during pg and spent a long time in one last night. When I got out, someone asked me if it was a 'safe' thing for me to do...got home and looked it up. Now I'm going crazy with worry. I am ever soo stupid.

merr · 03/07/2013 11:22

So, morning all! I finally got my dating scan completed on Fri, put me at 13 weeks and an EDD of Jan 3rd, although it looks like its staying as 26th Dec on my papers, will ask the midwife when I have m,y 16 wk check.

Can't believe some of you are almost at your 20 week scans, time flies and all that!

Queen, remember google is often your worst enemy, I'd ring your midwife and try to put your mind at rest a bit.

Roselau · 03/07/2013 12:40

queen i did the same at around 9 weeks. I think my body gave me the warning signs as i started to overheat really quickly and felt quite dizzy from it. that being said, i seem to remember that it's more dangerous in the 1st trimester. i dont think one time will be a big deal but i agree with merr - call your mw if you're not sure.

I have my 16 wk MW appointment a week from today. i really hope I get to hear a heart beat to make sure the little one is still doing ok in there. From previous posts, seems like it's quite inconsistent: some do it, some don't. At my first MW appointment (about 6 weeks ago), they referred me to a clinic closer to my house, but I swear I was told a MW from there would get in touch prior to the appointment, but I still haven't heard anything. is that normal? I.e. if i have questions right now, I have no one to call which i find a bit stressful.

to those of you with the night shifts - wow. i truly admire you. best of luck !

Holly1977 · 03/07/2013 13:58

Queen, I'm sure you'll be fine. Presumably you didn't overheat and faint or anything when you got out? I don't think hot baths, jacuzzis etc are inherently harmful, rather that you overheating and/or becoming dehydrated is the potentially dangerous bit. But yes, no harm in speaking to your mw too.

My colleague has just told me his wife's pg. He's done a very good job of keeping that quiet while I've wittered on about my pg! He's the one who said that he won't relax until the baby's born basically. Really pleased for him and it'll be nice to have a colleague who's going through the same things, well his wife anyway. Though I have a feeling this is going to really piss bitch colleague off and make her feel even more jealous and excluded. As I was eating my customary sandwich avec crisps today, I found myself worrying about what she'll say when I have it tomorrow. I must be strong and stand up to her if she does say anything tomorrow. It's been going on too long now.

I am getting VERY pissed off and grumpy with my nose. It has streamed non stop all day today since I got up, reckon I've blown it about 50 times today and sneezed nearly as many. Starting to get dizzy now with each blow. Probably my own fault for having a tiny squirt of Sudafed last night as I was so bunged up I couldn't breathe. And I've left my stupid steroid spray at home which isn't helping with the allergy side of things. Gah, why can't my body just work properly and why can't I enjoy being pg?!

My hair has definitely stopped falling out as much (notice how I'm desperately clinging to my only positive pg symptom?!). Really noticed when I washed it this morning and hardly any fell out. So my hair's nice anyway, even if the rest of me feels like crap!

Not sure if it's too late to jump on board now that this topic is into its third thread...! But thought I'd pop in and say hi anyway as I found out last week that I'll be having a December baby, too!

I'm due on 30th December, although I'm kind of hoping that the little one will wait until New Year's Eve and be born to the sounds of cheering, applause and fireworks (very unlikely but it's a nice idea, right?!)

Anyway, it's reassuring to know that so many of you lovely ladies are all in the same boat at the moment, so I'll try my best to keep up to date with everyone's posts :)

TakingTheStairs · 03/07/2013 15:18

Welcome itsliz and congratulations Flowers
Does that mean you didn't realise you were pregnant until you were 14 weeks? Wow!

itsliz · 03/07/2013 15:28

Thank you! :)
Haha, nooo, I've known since around 3 weeks but since our little bean was a surprise rather than planned, we couldn't be sure of an exact due date until more recently.
I was so sure that I'd be due around mid January but it looks like I was wrong...!

2Labradors · 03/07/2013 15:51

Welcome itsliz and congratulations.

I'm having a horrible time in work, the atmosphere is just awful, everyone tearing strips off each other, ultimately it's going to end up with me being given more work which is just going to stress me out as I'm already doing much more than my hours will allow. It's just a horrible place to be. If I was leaving for maternity this week then I would not be going back, we can't really afford to do that though Sad

I used to really enjoy my job. Really hoping it doesn't result in my BP being raised again like a few weeks ago, I try not to let the stress get to me but it's so difficult.

Need to focus on starting my maternity leave at beginning of November but I so want to enjoy this pregnancy as it's my last.

Sorry for the moaning post, needed to off-load

musiceverywhere · 03/07/2013 18:48

Taking, I'm having a decent sized ovarian cyst removed. Didn't know it was there until 6 week scan. They're hopeful (but not positive) that they can conserve the ovary. Its quite a large cyst so needs to be laparotomy which means longer recovery period. Need to make sure I'm back at work by a certain date though or my maternity leave will start automatically. And have loads to do so need to get back to it! DH being supportive and as he doesn't work full time he'll be able to look after me. Bit nervous, just hope they don't disturb baby. With more time on my hands I hope I don't start posting rubbish 10 times a day! Will keep you all updated though.

abcdemma · 03/07/2013 18:56

Hey itsliz congrats :)
Don't envy those of you having a hard time at work, can't imagine how you all must be feeling with all the extra pg-related stress too :(
My mum has seen her friend's daughter's 3d scan and wants to pay for one for us too, so that'd be nice if there's a bit of a wait after 20w scan till the next one :)

abcdemma · 03/07/2013 18:58

Good luck for surgery music if I don't say so before Flowers

2Labradors · 03/07/2013 19:24

music good luck for your surgery next week and wishing you a speedy recovery

TakingTheStairs · 03/07/2013 19:29

Good luck music I know it's scary but we're all thinking of you and sending you positive thoughts
Xx

13loki · 03/07/2013 20:31

Good luck music I thought maternity leave would only be triggered by pregnancy related illness, and then only at 36 weeks. But it may have changed in the last 3 years since I had DD.

Roselau · 03/07/2013 21:08

good luck music thinking of you

Futterby · 03/07/2013 22:25

Good luck music Flowers

Heart my wee peanut's heartbeat today! Ended up in triage for heart palpitations and breathlessness which turned out to be a UTI as well as tonsilitis but they dopplered peanut and we heard it! She couldn't find it at first and I totally panicked but as soon as she hit the right spot all we could hear was BOOMBOOMBOOMBOOM and I cried and my mum cried and the midwife went "wow, such a strong heartbeat!' and we cried some more! So gutted that dp wasn't there to hear it but we've got our 20 week scan two weeks today and he'll hear it then :) just had to share!

MildredH · 03/07/2013 23:28

Welcome itsliz! Hope you're feeling well? 14 weeks was the magic mark for me when i started to feel normal!

Music- am sure will say it nearer time too but fingers crossed for everything to go smoothly with quick recovery.. Try to enjoy the rest though..
