Starting yet another thread as us chatterboxes have filled up 2 already!

Jucy, I'm so sorry to hear your news. Big hugs, wish there was something more I could say. Flowers

Frouby, if you're feeling crap just fuck the housework off, I do! It'll keep.

I'm scared and excited in equal measures about the scan on Friday. Looking forward to seeing bean and being able to get on with things. But obviously scared of getting bad news like Jucy... 2 days, 1 hour and 50 minutes to go!

My friend has offered to be a birthing partner too. I may well take her up on it, I suspect she'll be more help than OH. And as I'm planning on having a home water birth and OH has already invited his bloody mum (!) think it'll be good to have a friend there. I'm not private at all, have zero issues with people seeing me naked (as my neighbours will tell you) and she's seen me throw up enough times from our party days (though never shit myself to be fair) that I'm not too fussed about that.

AuroraOrtiz · 16/06/2013 20:05

Thanks futterby - am a bit scared now! Guess I have to take it though. Sodding hayfever!!

Yuck phlegm medicine doesn't sound so great - maybe I'll see how it goes.

My sleep is all cocked up. Slept all through the tennis this afternoon. Keep sleeping in the day or early evenings when I'm at work, then I wake up at 3am. I try to keep awake but it's impossible. I am a terrible sleeper though anyway. Feel shattered.

abcdemma · 16/06/2013 21:18

I'm the same sleep-wise, tossing and turning and waking up with a blocked nose. Trying not to sleep on front so am balancing on one hip to relieve the pressure on tummy but then hip hurts... can't win lol.
Wish I was big enough to shame people into giving me a seat on the train though. Had to stand up for an hour in the cramped entrance bit which was really warm and I felt awful :( Then when I got a seat I had to heave my bag onto the luggage rack above and felt my stomach pull a bit... not impressed. Looks like I've eaten all the pies at the mo. so me rubbing my stomach when I pulled it probably looked quite odd lol.
Rant over.
No heartburn just feel bloated and am burping like nobody's business, much to the dismay of my parents Wink

Futterby · 16/06/2013 21:56

Try a pillow between your legs and underneath your bump abc, works for me :) Mothercare sell long pillows that I've heard are awesome but I've not tried them myself :P I'm so farty instead of burpy (tmi, sorry Wink), poor DP Grin

PistachioTruffle · 16/06/2013 22:18

I'm going to have fun now imagining all of Queen's posts in a Texan accent Grin

I hear you on the sleep issues. I just cannot get comfortable. I've tried lying in my side with my top leg on a pillow, but my hip gets uncomfortable and my lower back is really sore. I feel like I need some sort of support at the back as well as the front.

Does anyone know about when the next MW appointment should be? She did tell me but I can't remember! Is it 16 weeks?

Futterby · 16/06/2013 22:21

16 weeks pistachio :) got mine tomorrow Grin

Can you tell I have no life? Never off mumsnet Blush got a break between college and uni so I'm bored bored bored.

QueenofWhispers · 16/06/2013 22:23

:) you should my accent is amazing...no one ever understands why an Indian Woman has a Texan accent. Especially when I'm really angry about something.

so guys, I have some good new

I had another scan yesterday and it turns out that the dx for a Single Umbilical Artery was a mistake and I've got a perfectly normal umbilical chord....they were also able to tell me the gender!!! I'm having a little girl!!!! I am ever soo excited.

Now I just have to pray that Kim Kardashian+Kanye West don't name their child anything normal before I start worrying about Kate Middleton stealing one of my chosen names. I honestly wish they were all having boys so that I wouldn't be worried about names.

PistachioTruffle · 16/06/2013 22:24

Thanks Futter. I've got a serious case of pregnancy brain at the minute!

PistachioTruffle · 16/06/2013 22:27

Queen congratulations! That's fabulous news, on both counts! flowers
Are you the first on the thread to find out the gender? I think you might be!

PistachioTruffle · 16/06/2013 22:27

Ahh that should have been Flowers!

Futterby · 16/06/2013 22:28

Congratulations Queen!! You must be so happy! Grin

I hear you Pistachio! Earlier on today I came out the shower and flushed the toilet. God knows why. I was also walking along the street earlier just - walk walk walk walk SKIP walk walk walk. I skipped. I really skipped. In public. In front of people. WHYWHYWHY?! Blaming baby brain Grin

Featherbag · 16/06/2013 22:33

Oh fabulous news Queen, 4 weeks and 4 days til we (hopefully) find out if DS is getting a baby brother or sister :)

LadyMedea · 16/06/2013 23:12

Hey aurora you can get heartburn earlier as the progesterone causes the muscles at the bottom of you oesophagus to relax letting acid out. Most treatments that seek to neutralise acid are fine in pregnancy. Rennes are my friend at the moment but may have to move onto gaviscon soon.

AuroraOrtiz · 17/06/2013 05:41

Thanks Lady, if it strikes again I'll go to the chemists.

Queen - congratulations!! So exciting!

Abc - I'm sure someone who was pregnant told me a while ago that if a train is rammed you are allowed to sit in first class. She used to commute in to London, and got to sit in first class but not pay any extra! Maybe check it out?

weechops · 17/06/2013 06:34

Queen that's so exciting! I'm so looking forward to finding out on the 19th July :)

clare8allthepies · 17/06/2013 07:18

Great news Queen must be a weight off your mind! Counting down to my 20 week scan, 4 weeks today. Hopefully if everything is good there I'll finally be able to relax and enjoy it a bit more.
Still undecided whether to find out sex or not, DP wants to I think so probably will as I got my wish of a surprise last time.
Am going to have to move into maternity stuff soon, my tummy is massive, can feel b

clare8allthepies · 17/06/2013 07:19

Oops, can feel bump underneath but just looks like a huge gut Sad

violetbean · 17/06/2013 08:07

Congrats Queen, great news!

Can't wait to find out gender, hopefully in early August!

I have the burps too. DH is super-embarrassed when I burp while visiting my parents Grin

Felt weird yesterday, so tired, woozy and over-heated for most of the afternoon, then after dinner felt a bit better. Hope don't get that feeling too often over the summer! Was horrible.

Rest of scan went fine, baby eventually cooperated and turned the right way after I'd drunk my weight in water and eaten some jaffa cakes. Spent the whole of Friday afternoon going to the loo. Confused

Have been writing emails to tell friends and relatives abroad that I'm pregnant. Hard to know how to phrase it!

mumoftwoboysS · 17/06/2013 08:23

got my scan in just over an hour...bricking it. DH is convinced it's twins, I'm convinced there's something wrong.... hopefully we're both wrong!!

Congrats Queen! I would love a girl after 2 boys, would really be the icing on the cake but DH doesn't want to find out so I may have the long wait till he/she is born to find out!

oh god, I hate this anxious waiting- and I've also lost my scan letter and worried about that though I know the scan time and have my notes- I'm such a disorganised cow. I looked EVERYWHERE last night. I have no idea if I need to drink water first though I'm sure I didn't for my last two nuchal scans??...

QueenofWhispers · 17/06/2013 09:19

mumoftwoboys

you'll be fine. I didn't drink any extra water for my nuchal scans however they didn't ask me to pee before hand.

Alyssa1978 · 17/06/2013 09:32

Mum

I had to drink a pint of fluids an hour before my nuchal scan.
DF doesn't want to know sex either and a girl after 2 boys would be nice here too but I feel very boyish Wink just like with my 2 boys.
Guess I'm also in for a long wait lol. X

NomDeClavier · 17/06/2013 09:54

Music I'm in France if you need anything.

Go straight to the hospital or your nearest maternité if you're worried. They should have a gynae A&E, emergency treatment will be free with an EHIC.

PM me if you need and I'll help with translating. Any recently qualified midwife should have enough English to help and if there's a current student midwife or doctor around they have compulsory English, although not all courses have specific medical English. Whereabouts are you? If its near me I apologise for the crap weather.

MrsShrubs · 17/06/2013 09:58

Aurora I've had heartburn on and off for a few weeks now, I carry rennie everywhere at the moment with me. I've had to stop eating anything even remotely spicy, and I love my spicy food, because it just aggrevates it.

Is anyone else getting headaches quite a bit at the moment? I seem to be getting them really often recently no matter how much water I'm drinking Confused

Due to growing bump I've had to start looking at new work clothes and newlook in their regular section have got some great dresses that are just elastic at the waist and flow out a bit like a skater style dress, smart enough for work and only about £15.99-19.99 which I didn't think was too bad. I'm wearing mine today and am finally comfortable again in work clothes Smile

froubylou · 17/06/2013 10:58

Morning all

Heartburn here too but had it all way through with DD so was expecting it TBH.

DD currently on sofa with poorly blanket. We had tears over a tummy ache went we got to school so brought her home with me. I have a feeling something is bothering here TBH. Think its because she is worried about being moved down a group in reading. Little git in her class has looked at the records of all the kids and told her she is on level 3A for reading and the rest of her group are on level 4. Its just the kind of thing that would upset her. Going to have a word with teacher tomorrow and try and suss out whats happening.

I've had my date through for my 20 week scan and it says I have to drink 2 PINTs of water 1 hour before my scan. WTF? I'll piddle my pants before I get there lol.

Music, big hugs hun. My sister had a huge bleed at 20 weeks with my nephew. Woke up covered in blood to the point they needed a new mattress and they were talking about a transfusion. She went on to have a healthy baby boy at term so try not to worry. And like Nom says go and get medical help if you need it. xx

I bought some leggings from Topshop the other day. Everso comfy and supportive. Went up 2 sizes and they fit my tummy nicely and because the waist is quite big, go right over my budding bump.

I'll be glad when I am showing properly TBH. Just look fat at the minute. Though we did go to the seaside for the day yesterday and I had a huge plate of fish and chips, followed by ice cream. Yummy. Could eat it now. Though the indigestion on the way home wasn't so good.

lisbapalea · 17/06/2013 11:41

Hi all!

Finally had 12wk scan today and all looks good. Baby was jiggling around a fair bit but was quite unco-operative for decent pics but we got a few to share with people.

My new due date is 22nd Dec (meaning I am 13+1), which is earlier than I feared so am happy about that! Am likely to be having an elcs which would prob be a week before due date so that takes me to 15Dec,which is also good as it's closer to the Swedish 'name day' which is inspiring a potential middle name if baby is a girl!

Not that I am over thinking or anything....

Hope everyone is doing ok - thinking of you in France music and hope you get to see someone who can reassure you soon, although like many others have said, there are lots of stories of people having bleeds throughout pregnancies and everything being perfectly healthy so I hope these stories help in some way.

Roselau · 17/06/2013 13:50

Hi all
great to see good news scans still coming through. congrat lisbapalea

how exciting Queen that you were able to find out the sex. I can't believe some of you are so close to your 20 week appt already! i have 8 more weeks to wait since I'm due late december (they changed the date to the 21st now) but I'm ok for now having so recently seen the little one swimming happily :)
I think I gained a pound, which would be great news, although I have to validate tomorrow as it could just be constipation........ but I'm still eating like an ogre, so that must be going somewhere!
I am SO excited to be able to start telling friends and people in general. I have just told my boss this morning, which was very stressful for some reason, as he just promoted me to a new role with tons of responsibilities and now I'm putting him in a tricky situation. but he was nice and supportive. I will tell my team next week. I've had a permanent smile on since Friday - it just feels like it's finally real!!
