mac it's not just you, I'm still waiting for that pregnancy glow to kick in - at the moment I look pale green, with massive dark circles under my eyes. People keep asking if I feel alright!

VeryHappyMama · 12/06/2013 09:17

No not just you Mac. People have started asking if I am feeling ok as I look ill but I'm not telling anyone why yet.
Hope everyone starts to feel better soon. I too am hoping this does not last the whole pregnancy.

enjoyingscience · 12/06/2013 10:00

Wow, Crabapple! Congratulations! Double the fun ;)

Sorry to everyone still feeling sick. I'm grazing like a cow to keep nausea at bay, lots of oatcakes and grapes. Can't seem to find anything to drink though - squash/juice makes me feel sick, can't bear the thought of tea (herbal or normal), and even water seems to make me a bit queasy.

So sorry to hear your news cosmic, what a terrible way to find out. I hope the next stage is as ok as it can be. Look after yourself x

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 12/06/2013 11:00

crabapple woop for that - how awesome/terrifying!

clutches, as someone else said, do NOT burn out because of less than perfect gear changes. What a shit instructor. I hate poor driving instructors - I had one at 17, put me off learning until I was 32. How are they allowed to teach, if they're so impatient and unkind?

Feel absolutely rotten today - 9+5. Roll on week 10 and hopefully some let up in this. My booking in appt is a week today though, so that's nice!

Also, I need some advice. I'm going to a hen do the weekend before I hit 12 weeks. It's one of my oldest friends and some of the girls there are the same group - people I've known forever. They know/knew we are/were TTC. They also know I was a smoker and probably the biggest drinker of the group Blush. Do I tell them, in case I feel rough and have to get out of parts of it? Do I tell the girls apart from the hen (don't want to take the focus away from her, and she will have loads of other girls there, so may not notice me being different so much - the 'group' will, as none of us knows the hen's other mates...)
Help me, wise ones!

enjoyingscience · 12/06/2013 11:21

Humpty could you get away with arriving a little bit late once they are already a bit drunk then drinking tonic water with a slice all night? Looks like G&T, and it's amazing what people don't notice.

Smoking's a bit easier - just tell them you've quit and you're on a health kick.

If anyone asks directly then I guess you'd have to call it one way or the other!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 12/06/2013 11:35

enjoying it's from lunchtime on the Saturday, including dinner, drinks & dancing and brunch the next day... I did the tonic and slice trick last night though - works BRILLIANTLY! And yummy. It's more that we're going out for cocktails specifically, as the hen loves cocktails. I guess I could say I'm cutting down on sugar, so sticking to G&T...

Penny31 · 12/06/2013 11:45

humtpy I had this problem a few weeks ago. I had a quiet word with the bar lady and she made me none alcoholic cocktails. I didn't say I was pregnant I just said can you discreetly make me non alcoholic cocktails please and she was very accommodating. No one noticed a thing! If you feel tired and can't last the pace you can say you don't feel we'll and slope off early......they will think you have drank too much :) they will be drunk at that point and not give it a second thought?

The smoking thing, you could say you gave up a few weeks ago because you heard it can affect fertility (if they know your are trying to conceive it makes sense)

Penny31 · 12/06/2013 11:46

Also cranberry and lemonade in a cosmopolitan glass is very realistic :)

enormouse · 12/06/2013 11:53

humptydumptybumpty or you could discreetly ask the barman to make yours a virgin? No one should be able to tell. Wink

Agree about the clutch. It won't be just your lesson that will have burnt the clutch out. Instructors cars need to be replaced every 6-9 months anyway because of the fact that they are used by learners.

I feel so awful and low on energy but not as miserable as yesterday, thank God. DP is off today so it's a little easier on me. Felt such a terrible mummy last night as DS complained to his dad about me.
Well it seemed like complaining. There was emphatic babbling, lots of use of the word 'mummy' and pointing at me.

Vatta · 12/06/2013 11:57

Humpty I think I'd probably confide in at least one person - you don't want to steal the hen's thunder, but you may need some help subtly avoiding alcohol (my DH had to drink my champagne when we were out recently, we just kept swapping glasses).

If the bar does mocktails then they look just look like normal cocktails.

BabyshamBambi456 · 12/06/2013 12:18

Hi all Smile joining this thread as my first baby is due 3rd January! I had my first midwife appointment last week but all my bloods are being taken at my scan. I had a scan at 8 weeks tho so already seen the wee one. Hope everyone's doing alright, I haven't had any morning sickness but have been completely knackered!

TobyLerone · 12/06/2013 12:18

enormouse, I don't know how you and others with toddlers do it! I have my nephew (19 mo) today and I've had enough already! I'm knackered and feeling sick.

Sorry, cosmic. How sad :(

Congrats, crab! What a lovely surprise.

Hi all. It's too hard to answer everyone on my phone and I'm hoping nephew falls asleep soon, so I can do the same!

Vatta · 12/06/2013 12:20

Hello babysham, welcome to the thread!

enormouse · 12/06/2013 12:45

tobylerone just don't give him anything with chocolate in and whack on a child friendly DVD/cbeebies.

Hi babysham

enormouse · 12/06/2013 12:48

Oh and don't get drawn into ridiculous toddler debates with ridiculous toddler logic. Last night ds was convinced what I was eating was better than what he was eating (it was the same) and insisted on eating from my bowl and refused to eat from his. So I ended up eating tuna pasta bake from a melamine bowl with cowboys on it. With a tiny blue melamine fork.

Mythreeknights · 12/06/2013 12:58

Cosmic I'm so sorry to hear your news, look after yourself and lots of ((hugs))

Crabapple OMG. I was literally saying yesterday I bet I have twins as I'm feeling so revolting...did you even suspect a tiny bit? Is your bump bigger than usual?? So many questions! Congratulations anyhow, I bet it's a bit of a shock but it will be magical! xx

Mythreeknights · 12/06/2013 12:59

Argh - just re-read my post and it looks SO HORRENDOUS in light of Cosmic's news. Sorry Cosmic - I didn't intend it to look so me me me - I am thinking of you.

Sultanajo · 12/06/2013 13:35

Mac oh blimey - yep - pack the tissues and an extra bottle of water for the dehydration post tearing up session!

Choco and Mrs AVB so sorry you are still feeling rough - that majorly sucks! Nausea has decided to turn up even earlier today for me - what a lucky girl I am!!! Wink Suspect it's due to lack of sleep....

Humpty getting the bartender onside and going for non-alcoholic cocktails seems like a good plan. If all fails then I would perhaps confide in a few that can be trusted, so you have others on your side too who can maybe get you non-alcoholics from the bar....

Enjoying - grazing like a cow! Lol! I am grazing more like a rabid dog I think - forgetting to eat, suddenly feeling horrendous and grabbing the first thing I see and stuffing it in in the hope that a miracle will happen - which it does for like 2 minutes and then the cycle starts again.... Grin

Welcome babysham! Congratulations!

Toby I don't know either - just seeing friends knackers me out to the point of no return!!!

enormouse OMG - that made me laugh! I can just imagine you eating from his cowboy bowl with tiny fork! You really had a rough day with him yesterday didn't you!

Pregnancy glow - what's that then? Oh, do you mean the shiney red faced look of dry heaving or from the night sweats? If that's the case then I am GLOWING!!!! Grin

Naturegirl82 · 12/06/2013 14:29

Thought I had passed the sleepiness stage but it's back with full force today. I'm being so unproductive at work I'm annoying myself.

Hope the nausea doesn't hit too bad for all of you with afternoon sickness.

MrsAVB · 12/06/2013 14:46

I'm falling asleep at my desk too nature. Roll on 5pm!
humpty I have a night out I'm dreading from the no drinking pov soon too. I think I'm going to go for the ordering drinks that look like they could be alcoholic, like cranberry juice, and maybe saying that I'm poor so not buying rounds, so that I don't have to have others buy me a drink. But colluding with the bar person or, if you feel ok about telling people, telling a couple of close friended who can help cover for you.
Welcome and congrats babysham!
X

Sultanajo · 12/06/2013 15:02

nature and Mrs AVB snore..... Got a crazy couple of hours at work then heading off in the rain for my 2 hour + car journey - not looking forward to it as feeling really quite sleepy, but looking forward to getting to the hotel and falling into bed for a mammoth sleep session! Ah bliss!!!

TobyLerone · 12/06/2013 15:13

:o enormouse! Picking your battles is v important.
I've done this before. Actually, I had a newborn when DS was my nephew's age. I just don't remember it being this hard. I was only 23 then, though. I suspect that made a difference.

MrsGSR · 12/06/2013 15:17

mac I'm doing race for life next month, with my sister, nan, some cousins and aunts in memory of my mum, I'm going to be a mess but on the plus side nan is a good excuse to walk!

I'm considering a nap soon, I'm not very good at staying awake this week! I have a 3 hour exam tomorrow, that will be fun!

Welcome babysham :)

farmersdaughter · 12/06/2013 15:37

Hi, just checking in...afternoon all Grin
