MrsVDB · 11/06/2013 21:00

extra I'm sure it's fine. We had our last scan in Australia where they told us heart rate so when we asked today that's how the lady explained they just look for a heart beat and rate isn't important at this stage

Gabbyj · 11/06/2013 21:13

Sorry to read your sad news cosmic. X

Bunt - live just outside Bournemouth, so not too far away from you.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 11/06/2013 21:23

cosmic oh god, I'm so sorry to hear this. I feel for you - I do hope you are back in the antenatal clubs again soon. I hope you're looking after yourself.

Mac (?) - they cannot make you go back to a significantly different job - they must keep your job, or a very similar one open for you. Re-org or no, maternity rights stand. Hope that puts your mind at rest.

Mrs AVB glad you're back! Yes she will have to work ALL my weekends while I'm on mat leave, so I WIN!

Extra didn't mean to stress you out, more give you something to shout at them for. I would be putting serious pressure on, muttering about 'Daily Mail headlines: Mum-to-be denied crucial tests due to NHS redtape' etc. It's utterly unacceptable. I know I haven't really started mine, but the lack of consistency of a/n care in the NHS is shocking me. Try not to worry - there are other tests (but don't remind them of that!!)

TobyLerone · 11/06/2013 21:24

That's exactly what the sonographer told us on Sunday, MrsV. She said that studies show that using a doppler before 12 weeks puts a lot of pressure on the baby's heart.

Mac2014 · 11/06/2013 21:50

Thanks humpty I need to stop freaking out about everything. At least it takes the focus off the rest of it.

CrabAppleTree · 11/06/2013 21:55

Hello all
I haven't been chatting for a while.
Had been umming and ahhing about going for a private scan. (am 10+1)
Anyway, went today and discovered to our UTMOST shock that we are expecting TWINS GrinShockGrinShockGrinShock
No wonder I have been so sick.
So need to get back on the NHS care and sort everything out for that.

Will try and find some time to catch up with all of you properly but wanted to post.

Yonionekanobe · 11/06/2013 22:09

extracrunchy · 11/06/2013 23:24

Woooah Crabapple exciting!! And terrifying! Grin

Toothfairy78 · 12/06/2013 00:46

Ooh wow crabapple awesome!!!

Yorkiedodah · 12/06/2013 02:45

That's excellent news Crab!!

I'm up and can't go back to sleep so thought I'd come online. Had a really awful driving lesson which is still playing on my mind. I normally book 2 hour slots and am into about my 7th lesson so still very new on the roads. Anyway, I was having a particularly bad time stopping and starting and kept stalling. I may have stalled about 8 times in that time period.
With about 20 mins to go the instructor says "Right go from second to third." To which I try to do but somethings wrong with the clutch and I'm not going anywhere and the gears will not change. So he's pulled me over and discovered that the clutch isn't working. I'm absolutely MORTIFIED apologising saying repeatedly- it was my fault. To which he replied ' Well I did tell you to not be so harsh with your gear changes.' I ask what will happen for other lessons he's got to which he says he doesn't know. I offer to pay for his taxi home - to which he sniffs that he has the money thank you very much.
He has to wait for breakdown 90 mins and says I'm better off having a taxi. We book a lesson for next week and thats that.
I go home and DP is absolutely livid saying its not my fault - maintenance is his problem and I shouldn't have been made to feel like it was down to me at all. Ultimately it's the first time I've felt soo hormonal. I burst into tears and cried like the world had ended and now I can't get back to sleep for worry STILL.

Anywho I've decided that I will cancel that lesson and get another instructor. Defo don't need that in my life.

Right need to scroll up and see what's happening to everyone else x

Yorkiedodah · 12/06/2013 02:59

Apologies for the long pity post.
Cosmic - I'm really sorry for your loss. Please look after yourself.

We've all got work, life issues- I've let this get to me a bit much.Blush

MRS VDB that flying without wings post made me lol Grin It's such a predictable format that show!

Just thinking, I'm going to have to tell the HEAD know tomorrow that I'll be taking mat leave in Dec - 4 months into a new temp post. I doubt she'll be overjoyed but hey ho what can you do.

Yes roll on maternity leave. Smile

Going to try to go back to bed now - Happy Wednesday everyone x

Sultanajo · 12/06/2013 07:15

OMG Crab that is AMAZING! Wow! Bet you were shocked! How cool - our first set of expectant twins!!! Woop woop!

Yorkie I would about to suggest dumping this driving instructor - so am really glad you have done so! What a numpty! It totally wasn't your fault hun - there is NO WAY you would have knackered a clutch in one lesson, no matter how heavy footed you were being. It was obviously on it's way out and unfortunately you were there when it happened!

Humpty well that's gotta make you feel a little bit better - ha ha ha!!!

Thanks ladies for the good luck wishes for last night. Well - one grumpy Sultana this morning due to only 6 hours sleep - managed to stay up until midnight, but I am sure I started hallucinating and have no idea what people were talking about by then!!!! In the end, DH called them to say I wasn't feeling great and did they want to come to us - in fact only his sister came over, so it was actually a really relaxed evening and I managed to stay sitting on the sofa most of the time with a cushion in front of me. So that's the first one out of the way. The second one is the proper big family party (of about 50!!!) in a local hall on Sunday evening, but it says it finishes at 10pm so hopefully we can get away with leaving at that point and not going back to theirs.... There is apparently going to be karaoke and a photo booth, so hopefully that will keep everyone entertained, so if I am feeling like shite I can keep sneaking off to the toilets without raising suspicions....

Travelling up tonight and staying over at the place I have the NT scan first thing tomorrow and potential harmony testing. The doctor I spoke to there said they could give me the NT results there and then, so I will wait until we have discussed those before definitely going ahead with the harmony bloods.... Can't believe it's tomorrow - am now just praying for good news!!!

VeryHappyMama · 12/06/2013 07:32

Congratulations Crabapple Smile

Glad the evening went ok Sultanajo I hope the family party goes well for you.
Have just looked up the harmony testing it sounds really good is that done privately?

MrsVDB · 12/06/2013 07:40

crab congratulations!! How exciting!!!

yorkie definitely not your fault!!! Clutches are bloody hard to break and as your dh says it will just be lack of maintenance.

I also go on maternity (all being well) 6 months after starting a new job, at my work you don't have to tell anyone to 6 months unless you want to but I told new boss because I felt bad, he never mentioned it so assume he's not best pleased (negotiated a £10k pay rise about half hr before I told him!) but there's nothing they can do

Mac2014 · 12/06/2013 07:42

crab amazing news - very exciting! Hope you're ok.

sultana glad it all went well last night and fx for the next party and your tests. Hope all goes well.

yorkie that's all part of the cars wear and tear... Don't let the cuntpuffin instructor get you down. He should refund you for the lesson due to providing sub standard equipment.

I think 10 weeks must be when my hormonalness kicks in. This morning the shower leaked through the loft ... I cried. I dropped my breakfast ... I cried. Had a row with my DH ... He thinks he'll be able to keep playing cricket 3 days a week... I cried.

All bodes well for today!

Hope you're all feeling ok this morning.

VeryHappyMama · 12/06/2013 07:54

MrsV love the organising a pay rise first Grin
Def not your fault Yorkie glad you are changing instructor
Sorry Sultanajo meant to add hope all goes well with your tests

Sultanajo · 12/06/2013 07:58

Veryhappy - yes at the moment it's only offered privately by a few centres across the country. I just really want to avoid an amnio if I can, so wanted to get a detailed NT scan. The doctor who I am seeing trained and worked closely with the guy who actually invented the NT scan and he also was the first to offer harmony testing in the UK, so I feel as though I will be in good hands and I will get as many answers as possible, which is what I feel I need.

Mac bless you! It's hilarious the things that make us cry these days if we are having an emotional one - I saw four seagulls on a neighbour's roof yesterday - one had some sort of food item he was desperately trying to eat and the others were closing in on him and then he dropped it and it rolled down the roof and he ran down with wings flapping in a major panic and managed to get it back. I had to stop watching at that point as I felt so bad for the poor seagull and I could feel tears welling up (either that, or I was about to get a ladder out and get up there with him to give him the space to eat it!!!) Really hope you manage to hold it together for the rest of the day, but don't be surprised if you end up crying in your car for no reason whatsoever (or perhaps that is just me....) Grin

chocoloulou33 · 12/06/2013 08:03

Sorry cosmic (((hugs)))
crab congrats on the amzing news about twins wooo hoooo. Is this your first pregnancy?
Anoother pity party here, still ill, vomming daily, weak, dizzy, tired. Go awayyyy sickness, a month of this has been ENOUGH now! X

Mac2014 · 12/06/2013 08:20

sultana thanks my dear. Your seagull story had me welling up!! What are we like? I'm doing the race for life this eve ... Walking it!! So am bound to be wailing the whole way round at everyone's stories.

choco completely with you!! Bored of feeling like shite now, especially when you've not announced why you look like death! Or is that just me Grin

MrsAVB · 12/06/2013 09:10

Morning all!
choco I am completely with you on being sick of being sick. It's been nearly 6 weeks for me now. Even with the meds I'm still vomming 2-3 times a day, which is an improvement but still annoying. Am really really hoping I'm not one of those women who has it the whole of pregnancy.
mac, I did a cancer race last year and blubbed the whole way round at people's "I'm running for..." signs. And that was before I was pg. Good luck!
Have a good day everyone x
