Not awful at all, Frog. We started TTC last summer. Then we got engaged in August and decided that we didn't want to have to look after a baby at the wedding. Neither did I want to throw the most expensive party I'll ever throw and not be able to drink, so that was doing it while pregnant out.

So we decided to get the wedding over with as soon as we could manage it. Before Christmas seemed like it would be too soon, so we did it in January.

We didn't have a honeymoon, though. No time. We're thinking of going away in August.

Frizz1986 · 09/06/2013 13:41

toby this is crazy but I also got engaged in august! We hadn't started trying but I didn't want to before we got married as didn't want a kid to worry about on the day either!

It took dh 6 and a half years to pop the q and in the 9-10 months since we have got wed and expecting our first. Think he knew to wait as once the ring was on there was no messing around lol.

frog it is def not selfish. U have to do what works for u.

TobyLerone · 09/06/2013 13:52

:o Frizz

Ooooh, your scan's in 10 minutes. Good luck!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 09/06/2013 13:59

frog not awful, sensible. We had a three week honeymoon, it was utter bliss, but there was no way a kid would have made it - we climbed sand dunes in Namibia, went shark diving in Cape Town etc. A holiday with kids is not the same thing. Not bad, but not the same. Plus when it's just you two, you can tell all the hotels and get free champagne and room upgrades Grin.
toby we had a Jan wedding too - it was ace! Gave everyone something fun to do in what is usually the shittest month of the year. My EDD is 3 days after our wedding anniversary - I'm thinking of making January my new favourite month Grin.

frizz hope your bladder survived the journey there, and you're being scanned right now?

toby fx for you in an hour and a half.

TobyLerone · 09/06/2013 14:29

:o my EDD is about a week before our wedding anniversary. But my last 2 babies were both 2 weeks late, so who knows?!

Frizz1986 · 09/06/2013 14:42

Omg. Just come out and all is well.
21.93mm and dated as 8+6 so edd poss moving to 13th Jan (8+6 is dead on where i thought by ov dates)
Heart beat 176 and was going crazy. Got 2 photos and just can't believe it.
U could see the blood moving through the cord and everything! She showed us the yolk, the amino sack and said that baby is in the right place and there is no blood, so discharge must have been something else in the week.
Such a relief.

toby will be thinking of u later!

LittlePeaPod · 09/06/2013 14:47

Congratulations Frizz. It's amazing seeing the baby..... Flowers Grin

Excellent news, Frizz :)

Mine's been moved to 4pm because they're running late. So I suppose I'd better get out of my dressing gown...

Sultanajo · 09/06/2013 15:52

frog not crazy at all. I had one at 8 weeks and another at 10 to check I had got past the point I was at last time....go for it!

frizz so happy for you! Scans are the most amazing things! Just awesome!!!Grin

Penny31 · 09/06/2013 15:57

pod I'm 11 weeks today. I hade bad sickness for only 10-14 days, I have been incredibly lucky and I'm so grateful!
I'm really tired today though, had more energy yesterday. Been to by my first pair of maternity jeans. Really like them, dark denim skinny jeans from jojo maman and bebe. Sooooo comfy!

Congrats on the scan frizz!

Sultanajo · 09/06/2013 16:20

penny thats great the sickess only lasted a shortish amount of time.... What a relief! Not long now til your scan! Thats great you can hear the little ones heartbeat. I had a go this morning but could only hear my own pulse. I knew it would be unlikely, but still made me panic slightly...have locked the doppler safely back in my wardrobe for now so I dont get tempted again....Grin

TobyLerone · 09/06/2013 16:34

Back. All fine :)

Sultanajo · 09/06/2013 16:37

Congrats toby and Frizz, so glad the scans went well :)

I'm going back home to Devon this month whilst my DH is away with work, I'll be there for a few weeks so I was thinking about getting a private scan down there so my sister and MIL could come along, they are both really excited and would love to be more involved but it's hard when we're hours away! I'm just worried that something might have gone wrong, but if it has they would be very supportive and would be able to handle it... I'm too indecisive!

Frizz1986 · 09/06/2013 17:16

Congrats toby glad all went well.

mrsgsr its a tough one as it woud be lovely for them but I know the 'what if' fear really plays on your mind.
I am keeping all scans for me and dh only. Everyone else will have to look at the photos.
The woman before us toay had about 8-9 people in with her from oaps to 5 year olds. Thats all a bit too much for me!

rosalux · 09/06/2013 17:32

Warning: pity party ahead -

So I was feeling kind of okay up until now, still able to exercise 3-4 times a week and though I've had awful sickness no actual vomiting. Hmm. Still no vomiting but this weekend I've been so so tired I've spent both (lovely sunny) afternoons in bed, and all exercise apart from getting up to go to the kitchen to stuff my face with more (home-made sourdough) bread has gone out of the window. For the forseeable future. Sigh. My clothes are tight, I am hugely bloated, I've had to stop wearing my engagement and wedding rings after I couldn't get them off last night and feared they may have to be cut off (dramatic moi?) And I'm only 7+5.

toby hope all went well today.

MrsGSR · 09/06/2013 17:42

rosa :( sorry your feeling so rough. Hopefully it won't let long! I'm feeling huge, it's not fun.

frizz thats what I'm thinking. I emailed the place and I only need to give a weeks notice so I can talk to them and decide when I'm there :)

Sultanajo · 09/06/2013 18:15

rosa feeling so rough really sucks! So sorry!

mrsgsr its a really tricky one. I would say ask them and leave the decision up to them....

New craving of the day (close your ears toby Wink ) - Appletiser with tons of ice. Really hitting the spot! (Thank god because everything else is refusing to go down easily)! Grin

Yorkiedodah · 09/06/2013 18:23

Hi Ladies,

Can I join? I'm due 13th January and will be 9 weeks tomorrow.
Finding it hard, as I love food and don't have hardly any appetite. Cheese and tomato with ryvita and that's about it. :(
Had a docs appointment 2 weeks ago which was anti climax of the century; gave me a prescription for folic acid and what not to eat. Said midwife would be in contact and she left a message yesterday asking if I spoke English and required an interpreter??? Hmm

Anywhooo, congrats to everyone roll on those scans.

x

lovesbakingcupcakes · 09/06/2013 18:25

Have been a bit quiet on here but have been lurking! Lovely to hear that the scans went well frizz and toby. Sorry for those still suffering with sickness. Unfortunately continuing for me too but am vomiting half as much as I was- down to twice a day now. Still feel rough as anything though and still super tired. 10 weeks today- quarter of the way through! Still having to have afternoon naps (thankfully my toddler still naps in the afternoon so am kipping when she is). Enjoy the wedding dress shopping pod~ exciting times! Here's to a good week ahead for everyone!

lovesbakingcupcakes · 09/06/2013 18:29

Welcome yorkie!

Mac2014 · 09/06/2013 18:52

Yay for your scans toby and frizz!!! Glad all is well.

I feel for everyone feeling rubbish... I can't remember what it felt like not to be nauseous.

Just caught up on the last few days... Been away - Told my parents this weekend, which makes it all a bit more real.

Nearly had a panic attack on Friday when the midwife asked where I wanted to have the baby? I'd only phoned up to chase my booking in appointment, now booked for Friday. I'm going to have to tell my boss as I can't get out of work otherwise. Then I really will freak out!

Anyway, glad you're all ok.
X

MrsGSR · 09/06/2013 19:01

Welcome yorkie :)

sultanajo I think I will leave it up to them, my favourite way to make a decision :)
