Thread three... Rock and Roll......

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Sultanajo · 30/05/2013 21:20

Yeah I went into Waterstones a few months back and reminisced - I had forgotten so many!

Pidgy I had an early scan because they thought it was ectopic, but I have also paid for two private scans because I had problems last time and just wanted the reassurance that I had got past the point I did last time....

Sultanajo · 30/05/2013 21:21

Omg mac would have made him sleep in the garage!!! Shock

Frogcatcher · 30/05/2013 21:22

pidgy I'm paying for an early scan at a clinic at 8 weeks as I'm too impatient to wait till 12. If its all gone wrong I want to know sooner rather than later.
Good luck to all those with scans tmrw - fx but sure you'll all be fine.

mac2014 I've also resigned myself to no skiing this winter as I'm due mid Jan.

CursiveLetters · 30/05/2013 21:22

I can't keep up with you all! I think I am having a boy, but DH is dying for a girl so I'm trying to keep open minded. (Um as though I could magically change the gender by thinking about boys too much? How nuts am I?)

I really want to end up with both, and this is my first so I'm not bothered if a girl or boy comes first. :)

So jealous of those that are getting their scans already! I have my initial appointment with my new surgery (just moved) on Monday and I guess I'll ask them for the midwife referral, I'm only 5 weeks along tho so I bet it will be ages.

Did/does anyone else have a lot of periody feelings at this point? I have that mild cramp feeling that you have when you're on your period, not painful or anything just kind of a heaviness. I've read that it's normal but I have had it most of the time so it would just make me feel better if someone else has had the same, as of course cramping can be a warning sign as well.

fryingpantoface · 30/05/2013 21:24

Hello!

frog I bought the Bramble Hedge book, it's so pretty! DS isn't bothered about it at all.

How did the scan go MrsG?

I'm waiting for me tea. I had a crap day at work and i'm tired!

Also, I've got thrush. It's crap

LittlePeaPod · 30/05/2013 21:24

Hi ladies

Sorry I really don't mean to sound rude but I am reading and trying to keep up. Not really posting much because I feel so ill that I just struggle to do anything at the moment... Pathetic sounding excuse but very true.

I hope you are all doing well and thoughts with everyone still feeling ill or worrying.

chocco33, MrsGSR and anyone else having scans or seeing midwife this week. Good luck Smile

Congratulations to all the new ladies with BFP Flowers

But even feeling as ill as I do now, I shall promise the next thread will be ready for set up with new title... Wink

vatta we're not telling anyone just yet too and it's our first. I got first appt with mw next week too.

News came out today that one of my colleagues is pg due in december. So glad someone's helping me stay off everyone's radar by going first! Just got to hide for a little bit longer... Wink

omama · 30/05/2013 21:27

just checking in again - struggling to keep up so want to say sorry to those who have recently had bad news Flowers , good luck to those having scans tomorrow [waves at choco] & hope everyone else is working their way through the first trimester without too many troubles/sickness!

I had my booking appt with midwife today, scan booked for 1st July when I'll be 12+5 - still ages away - can't wait!

I'm having some serious snack envy today ladies Envy. I'm a bit overweight & turns out BMI is higher than I thought Blush. So zero snacking for me! Still, I can crave......

vatta - expect lots of forms - personal details, yours & your partner's medical history, family medical conditions they need to be aware of etc. You will also have to provide a urine sample & have a blood test & blood pressure check.

I also hate the slogan type clothing - DH loves it & always moans at me that I don't let him choose! I may have to relent with this one......
We got well & truly sucked into the character stuff ages ago, I try & keep it to t-shirts (that can be covered with a hoody Wink) & pj's/bedding.

I'm secretly hoping we have a girl this time. Think one of each would be really lovely & would love to have that mother-daughter bond that I have with my mum. Gut feeling is that it'll be another boy tho - I've always thought that I'll have 2.

Mac2014 · 30/05/2013 21:32

sultana off to bed now to get over it -would've been the garage if I'd have thought properly!

frog I'm thinking it might be a few years off the skis unless we can loan out the sprig to grandparents [grins]

Anyhoo ... Night all, off to my pit with a pack of salt and vinegar crisps. Xx

Vatta · 30/05/2013 21:40

toothfairy - one of my colleagues is PG too, I'm using that as a reason we can't go for team drinks etc - persuaded them all to go for team coffee and cake instead then had bad MS and couldn't stomach it. Waste of good cake!

omama - thanks for the explanation of booking in appointment, my DH has almost no contact with his family so we don't really know that side, but I will pump my parents for information

SlinkyB · 30/05/2013 21:43

We'd quite like a girl this time too, as dh has 13yr old son from previous relationship, and we have toddler ds together. This will be our last child, so would just be nice to have a mix (I don't want to be outnumbered 4 to 1!). Plus there are loaaaaadds of boys in our families...hmm, that's me probably having another boy then! Like others have said, I adore my ds so it really wouldn't bother me if I had another boy like him to cherish Smile

We can't decide whether to find out the sex or not (if we get that far). We didn't last time, and I do love the surprise element, but kinda feel more impatient this time. Think it's due to pressure from friends and family to have a girl?! They're only messing about, but last time a lot of people were saying "ooh, hope it's a girl at last! ".

Oh, am finding aniseed balls are helping the nausea slightly. And sleep, lots of sleep.

Best of luck with the scans tomorrow choc and MrsG

Am off for a long weekend break with the in-laws, who don't know the news yet. Gonna try and hold out til the 12wk scan (which I'm guessing will be mid July) but MIL ain't stoopid and I may not be able to hide my symptoms, nor the fact I'm not drinking.

SlinkyB · 30/05/2013 21:45

P.s don't worry peapod, that's not an excuse, and pretty sure we all know how you're feeling! Hope you feel better soon.

Laura1408 · 30/05/2013 21:51

Hi all!
Been lurking for last couple of days, catching up on thread two and now three, have managed to read every comment - go me lol!
Found out last tue i was BFP, unexpected as was taking pill. havent told oh yet as unsure how it will go...long story...waiting for scan, and app which neither have come through yet grrr.
I think i am 8 weeks tomorrow, but last af was one day and light so maybe implantation bleed?
Just started feeling mega sick in evenings for last two days, mega sore boobs, again last few days and now trying to muster up appetite for chicken soup i brought earlier...specially since i didnt eat yesterday :(
Hope you feel better soon pea, glad things are looking up sultana.
Frogcatcher - i wish mine where outdoor cats, at least then i wouldnt have to worry about the catlitter :(
Fryingpan (love the name) and specific, hope our dates come through soon!
Mrsavb - peanut butter kitkat, couldnt think of anything worse right now, but good on you.
Cant face scrolling up anymore so sorry to all i have missed, but good luck to all!

MrsAVB · 30/05/2013 21:58

Hi all, thanks for your advice on the meds, tarka especially. I'm more worried that they'd make me really drowsy, as the dr said they do, and I'm already constantly exhausted. But maybe I'll get them and try them over the weekend when it won't matter so much if I'm tired. Does anyone know if you can dip in and out of them, or do you have to take them over a period for them to work. I was thinking if they're prescribed 3 a day I could maybe take them once a day or something. Should've asked the dr all this... Ho hum.
choco and pea good to hear from you... lots of love and FX for feeling better soon.
mrsg and choco good luck for scans tomorrow.
Meant to say this before, but I really recommend the radio 5 bump club podcast. DH started listening to them (its man friendly as on 5!) and now I'm hooked. Although they do make me both laugh out loud and cry on my commute.
Sleep well ladies xxx

MrsAVB · 30/05/2013 22:01

Welcome and congrats laura and wowzers at reading the whole of the threads! We are a talkative (typative?) bunch! X

SpecificDreamRabbit · 30/05/2013 22:01

I haven't eaten a single salt and vinegar crisp, nor have I broken into my emergency pot noodle. Does that make me special?

Grin

Good luck for the scan, choco!

I am feeling a bit sleepy and can't remember what else I've read, haha. I think it might be time for me to go to bed!

MrsAVB · 30/05/2013 22:03

Very special rabbit Hmm
Meant to say salt and vinegar ryvita mini-bites and baked stars are good slightly healthier things to crisps?
X

Penny31 · 30/05/2013 22:13

Salt and vinegar snack a jacks! Life savers. I suck them when feeling nauseous :)

Laura1408 · 30/05/2013 22:20

Thanks Mrsavb, it did take a couple of days! Lol, especially since I slept most of my day off today, woke up at 8.30, till 10 ish, then promptly went back to sleep till 4.00pm! Have been stupidly tired last few days too, very hard to hide at work, especially when working till 7pm everyday.
And the sickness hit at around 6.30pm, just when cashing up tills, had to blag it that I just wasn't really well!

lovelilies · 30/05/2013 22:23

Hi all, can't keep up!!
The nausea has kicked in, 7 weeks tomorrow, nearly vommed yesterday, lots of retching! Sad but then fancied beans on toast immediately afterwards...
I have the most horrid taste in my mouth, which only goes when I eat (so I just eat all day!) and am subsequently bloated like a 6 month pg lady! Grin
Bought a little outfit today, I couldn't resist! it's a sleepsuit in white and grey cow print Grin
Can't decide whether to go to bed or catch up on this week's coronation streets (I've been on nights)....

lovelilies · 30/05/2013 22:27

Can't wait to have a proper bump! Dying to get into comfy maternity clothes saddo Wink

lovelilies · 30/05/2013 22:28

Is anyone else expanding already? I'm sure I can feel my uterus above my pubic bone, its very firm, like when your bladder is totally full..

TobyLerone · 30/05/2013 22:28

MrsA, I think you can dip in and out with the meds. Mine make me very drowsy, so my dr said to try one at night and see how it goes. I just take them as and when I need to. It certainly won't do any harm to take them like that. Maybe you'll have to experiment and see what works for you.

Hi Laura. Kudos on the stamina!

TobyLerone · 30/05/2013 22:34

lovelilies, I was starting to panic about how big my lower belly is. I know that your uterus doesn't come above your pubic bone until 12/13 weeks, so when people say they've been showing since conception or whatever, I just nod and smile and think "you're just bloated".

But today, both the sonographer and the EPU MW independently said "with the size of these fibroids you'll be showing already". I feel much better that none of my clothes fit now! It still feels wrong to buy/wear maternity clothes yet, though, so I'll make do.

farmersdaughter · 30/05/2013 23:14

Evening all,

I'd like to join, however I'm terribly at keeping up on these threads. This one clearly moves very fast, chatty bunch aren't you! Grin

I'm just under 6 weeks (EDD 24th Jan) with DC2, I look huge already. Feeling okay, however I having waves of feeling sick and then eating like a horse. Also very tried, had to have a nap this afternoon, thank goodness DH is on holiday this week.

Just wondering if anyone else is feeling very anxious 2nd time around? Feeling unsettled. Maybe it due to DD's birth and I'm concerned that I won't get an ELCS. I'm sure I'll feel better once I have my booking app and scan etc.

Hope everyone is having a good evening and I look forward to all the chat going forward! X
