Awgh, dh has been asking when can we tell family. He's struggling not to let slip every time he speaks to his folks!

In other news, after a hard day at work feeling exceptionally dumb, I'm in bed scoffing a cheese and pickle sarnie. Mmmmmmm! Shame loads of my trousers are getting too small already. Is it too soon to wear maternity clothes? :(

Frogcatcher · 28/05/2013 18:56

I've found that Becks Blue is pretty useful. My DP ordered that for me when out in a pub the other day & got them to put it in a glass so it looked like normal beer. 'Vodka' & mixer works well too Wink

LittlePeaPod · 28/05/2013 19:23

Congratulations to all new ladies with BFPs.. Welcome Flowers

I hope you all had a lovely day. My empathy with everyone feeling sickly / not eating. Wishing everyone with scans / mid wife apointments best of luck. Great to read some of the positive news too.

Well feeling utterly awful. GP confirmed I have a form of Hyperemesis Gravidarum (illness that put Kate Middleton in hospital). She wanted to sign me off sick for next 2/3 weeks but I can't afford to take time off. I am leading two major tenders which we have been working towards for 3 and 5 years. She says if it gets worse I could end up in hospital. Oh the joys of been pregnant. Can't wait for placenta to take over.. Actually counting the days down to 12 weeks when it fully takes over..

So, so sorry foody

Welcome to all who've just joined, congratulations :)

pod sorry your feeling so rough, I really hope you start feeling better soon!

I've managed a packet of crisps and half a chocolate bar for tea, which is better than nothing!

MrsGSR · 28/05/2013 19:48

humpty I don't have any wisdom for your work problem but your 'NICE' story made me laugh! I hope you manage to figure out work

LittlePeaPod · 28/05/2013 19:54

Thanks MrsG sorry you can't eat too.

Humpty I am with MrsG. It made me laugh out loud. 'NICE absolutely genius... Ha ha ha ha Grin

Humpty a colleague of mine was in exactly the same situation last year and confided in two people who covered for her; is that an option?

LittlePea so sorry to hear your diagnosis. Sounds like your line of work has similarities to mine so I have every sympathy. I pitched for a big contract a couple of weeks ago, 9am slot and don't know how I held it together.

Fortunately we won but the partner there with me did guess my news as apparently I went green at one point and I am usually pretty calm in these things.

rosa definitely salt I'm craving too. Was the same with DD. so much pizza, the thing that really hits the mark. Toothfairy, cheese and pickle sounds like another great option. Packet of crisps and half a chocolate bar is definitely better than nothing and a major achievement zone nights MrsGSR!

Frogcatcher second the Becks blue thing. We had a barbecue last weekend and everyone was on beer so I filled a pint glass with two BB and Boone batted an eyelid

Welcome and congratulations monkeybubbles and Tigglett!

LittlePeaPod · 28/05/2013 20:11

Ohhh Yoni 9am pitch whilst feeling like this..... I so understand. Feeling your pain sat here. We have to do a load of site audits and one of the companies manufacture and forge metals... So it's like walking around a chemical factory Sad. How am I going to manage a full day of that.... Sad

Foody I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. Thinking of you x

Wansgirl · 28/05/2013 20:53

Foody, sorry to read about your loss.

I have second midwife appt booked for 07/06 and scan on 10/06 (at 8 weeks). I am apparently high-risk as I had major surgery less than 12 months ago with blood transfusion. Is that normal cos I feel great? Well, i had my first sign of nausea today when i was fuelling the car and don't want to go near another petrol station ever again but feel great otherwise.

Mac2014 · 28/05/2013 20:58

foody the biggest of hugs, so sorry to hear your news.

Mac2014 · 28/05/2013 21:04

littlepea still due date twins... Had a scan today and still on track for the 7th. Hope you're feeling as ok as you can be.

yoni *humpty I know your pain... I've got a big event on the 2nd July that I'm leading ... Really don't want to tell work before the dating scan but I'm thinking of telling my boss when she gets back from hols... I'll be 10 weeks then.

Welcome to all newbies ... There's a lot of us now! Must have been a fun Easter Grin

LittlePeaPod · 28/05/2013 21:08

Mac thank you and glad the scan went well. I guess we may be screaming in agony (i need to atop watching the Sky birthing programmes) at the same time next year.. If they arrive on time.

littlepeapod sorry to hear you have hg, I did with dd but avoided hospital. The dr was able to prescribe me some tablets which stopped me being sick and some others that stopped me feeling sick and I was able to go back to work. My gp was very clued up about it and said evidence suggests early treatment could prevent later hospitalisation (I know some gps won't prescribe until after you've been hospitalised).

LittlePeaPod · 28/05/2013 21:23

Tarka thanks. GP doesn't want to give me anything at the moment. I feel a bit better just knowing its not just all in my head and I am not just been pathetic. How long did it go on for when you had it? I keep reading conflicting information.

OP posts:
TarkaTheOtter · 28/05/2013 21:35

It went on until about 16weeks but was significantly more manageable from when I started the meds at about 10weeks. I was being sick over 10 times a day before them and about once a day after I started them. I was lucky as I know a few people with hg who suffered all the way through.
I also appreciated my gp taking it seriously as my boss kept suggesting that if I came back to work "it might take my mind off it and make me feel better"... because obviously it was just a case of mind over matter Hmm

MrsGSR · 28/05/2013 21:36

pod I've made DH watch a few episodes of one born every minute, surprisingly he still wants to be at the birth! Although it looks like he might be going on tour next year, hopefully not until May so he won't miss the first few months.

A letter came today with my scan date for next month, whilst I am away :/ rang them today to try and reschedule but had to leave a message.

LittlePeaPod · 28/05/2013 21:52

Tarka mind over matter comment just made me laugh.. They have no idea.... Confused. I will keep everything crossed for you that you don't get it this time..

MrsG how did you manage that? My DF refuses to watch them with me. I keep telling him its educational but he just looks at me with the "you have either lst your mind or you are just winding me up". He said the other night "why would I want to look at another woman's stretching fanjango when I won't be looking at yours as your getting a sun roof (yes his words) or I am staying at the head end". Ha ha Grin

foody so sorry for your loss. Hope ur ok hun & good luck to u in the future xx
pod poor you hun. Not good at all. Let's hope it starts easing off for you soon xx
I went to docs earlier as was asked to go in after a phone appointment. He said I can take co-codomal for headache. They checked urine & not happy, I've got high keytones & he said that means my body is starting to use all my back ups in fat etc & am v close to needing to go on a drip :( I've got to try eat tiny bits & keep it down & have sugary drinks. They will check it again & if no improvement will be taken in to hospital.:( booo, am not impressed. Can't remember who asked but my dd is 5, dss also 5 & dsd 7. They have bEen v good. They realise I'm poorly & have played so nicely. Mil having them for a couple of hours 2moro pm so will help a bit. My parents go on hols for 2 weeks 2moro so am gonna miss them lots, they r so supportive. Need to try get up into bed without vomming, that is my challenge, am not confident but am gonna give it a go x

MrsAVB · 28/05/2013 22:09

Welcome and congrats tigglet and monkey, nice to have you on board - there's always room for a few more!
pea so sorry to hear about your diagnosis. If you haven't found it already, there's an HG support thread on the pregnancy board. I read it occasionally to remind myself my vomming isn't actually that bad, but you might find some helpful support there - although obviously stay with us too!
medusa High five on the impressive drinking subterfuge! I don't think I'd have the stamina to go to those lengths.
humpty if it comes to it, call in sick for the conference, if it gets too much. You have to put yourself first, and if your boss is a massive wang then all the more reason!
I went to whole foods after work thinking there might be some healthy stuff to tempt me. However - £5 for a salad! I think not. I did have a lovely smoothy though; unfortunately it wasn't so lovely on the way back up. I think bean is rejecting all healthy food at the moment. Also is anyone else buying their DH a Father's Day card this year? I know it's a bit cheesy but I saw one and couldn't resist.
X

MrsAVB · 28/05/2013 22:13

choco glad you went to the GPs, but so sorry you are so poorly. Have you tried boiled sweets? They are my saviour at the moment (chocolate limes and mint imperials), a bit gross but if I have them straight after more substantial food, they seem to stave the vomming off for a bit.
X

TobyLerone · 28/05/2013 22:13

I'm not buying a Fathers' Day card because it feels to me like it would negate DH's first real Fathers' Day next year.

Frogcatcher · 28/05/2013 22:33

I thought about the Father's Day card but I just don't feel confident enough that it will all be fine & that I'll jinx it. I will have had my 8 wk scan by then but not my 12 wk one. He'll get one from SS anyway so I might just say something rather than get a card.
