Penny31 · 27/05/2013 21:42

Toby yes already! Amazing huh? I'm 9+1 by my calculations. It was clear as anything. Took a while to find though

Yonionekanobe · 27/05/2013 21:50

Well I'm afraid another one here with brown spotting. Very worried indeed - I had a minuscule pink spot with DD at five weeks and more at 30 weeks, but nothing like this.

I'm in a similar situation to book in that I really can't take time off work tomorrow without causing a massive issue for others as I'm due with an important client at 9am.

So scared and DH is out tonight. He'd come straight home if I called obviously but a good hour away and I hate the thought of him having to travel back worried sick with realistically nothing to do on arrival home Sad

LittlePeaPod · 27/05/2013 21:55

Yoni & Book. I am sorry you are going through this.. It's so worrying. I understand your issue with work. Can you get out later tomorrow at all?

OP posts:
Penny31 · 27/05/2013 22:00

yoni&book offering a hand to hold. Hopefully what you are experiencing is just normal. I know it's still a worry and I know how it feels having to get through a day at work with this on your mind.

Hopefully you can leave early like toby suggests?

Wansgirl · 27/05/2013 22:02

Hi all, I am 6weeks (I think), first pregnancy after over 5 years trying. Slightly sore nipples and a lot of itching upper limbs and back but no spots. Someone said hormonal changes can cause that. Has anyone else experienced the same ie the itching? Anything I can do? No other symptoms.

Also, can someone please explain the shorthand to me please: dh, ds, ds1, etc.

Thanks

Yonionekanobe · 27/05/2013 22:11

Thanks LittlePea & Penny. I may be able to get out for a few hours over lunchtime so will see what happens overnight.

Yonionekanobe · 27/05/2013 22:15

Congratulations Wans.

The shorthand is 'darling' husband/son/daughter.

bluecarrot · 27/05/2013 22:17

wansgirl - dh is darling husband, dp is darling partner, ds1 means first born darling son (though sometimes people write the age after, so it looks like ds13 and Im like what?! til I catch on ;) Theres a page on it somewhere - Ill go find it.

Im meantime, congratulations on your long awaited pregnancy!

Yonionekanobe · 27/05/2013 22:17

Sorry posted too soon - the numbers refer to whether it is your first, second, third child...so DD1 is first born daughter.

There is a glossary on full website I think. I can't find it in mobile site to post I'm afraid.

bluecarrot · 27/05/2013 22:18

here it is www.mumsnet.com/info/acronyms

TobyLerone · 27/05/2013 22:26

I'm sorry you're having a worrying time too, yoni :(

Sultanajo · 28/05/2013 07:33

Welcome wans huge congratulations! Not had any itching myself so not sure what to advise....perhaps applying a cold compress?

Yoni so sorry u have started spotting. Really hope you can get through your meetings this morning and can then make contact with someone for advice.....x

bluecarrot · 28/05/2013 07:39

Morning everyone. In a bit of a dilemma.

I have an abcess in a tooth that previously had a root canal. No pain except slight stinging the odd time but no pain relief required.

I'm on a second course of antibiotics. This one seems to have done v little, in fact, the infection appears to have spread.

I need to decide if the risks of tooth removal in first trimester ( I'm 8 weeks) which gives higher risk of miscarriage vs another course of antibiotics and their potential effect on baby. I can't find any real information despite googling for research papers etc.

Argh!! Dentist said that if it doesn't improve the tooth had to come out sooner. I just want to wait til 14 weeks ( my appointment)

Any advice?

LittlePeaPod · 28/05/2013 07:45

Morning ladies

wan congratulations and welcome. Flowers. With regards the itching. I get that however the reason I get it sometimes is because I am anaemic. One of the side effects in some people of anaemia is itching skin.

blue sorry to hear that. Sorry I can't be of help on this occasion. Could you speak to your GP or MW and get their advice on it?

Have a good day ladies...

BookTart · 28/05/2013 07:51

blue you have my utmost sympathy, tooth problems are just horrible. I second pea, check with the midwife. I know some antibiotics are fine in pregnancy so it might be okay to put it off. Abscesses can get worse quite quickly though, so keep an eye on it for any swelling. Fingers crossed you can hang on a bit.

BookTart · 28/05/2013 07:53

Oh yoni, I'm sorry you're having this worry too. Hope the spotting stops soon.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 28/05/2013 08:07

blue - my DH is a dentist and I just asked him his thoughts. Please make an emergency dentist appointment to discuss with them again. I'm sure you'll be fine but the infection can take a grip quite quickly once you're off antibiotics and you can be limited in terms of pain relief - although you can take strong painkillers under dentist/doctor supervision. But you don't want to be caught out and in pain and unable to get anything over the counter. Plus it's not ideal obviously to have an infection that's getting worse. You also do not want to be near term and in labour with either an infection or in pain because things have flared up. I'm sure you wouldn't wait but DH was a hospital dentist for a bit and quite often gt called up to the labour ward to deal with things like that. Double ouch!

The dentist should be able to have a good chat with you vis a vis the options and the benefits/risks of each. Feel free to ask for a second opinion in the practice too - it's obviously really important and totally understandable that you want to chat through everything.

Please dont just call the midwife though - get specialist advice from the dentist. They have much more knowledge of describing and treating for pregnant women than the midwife will have in this instance

Hope this helps and you feel better soon!

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 28/05/2013 08:07

yoni/ book - thinking f you both and hoping things looking better today

enormouse · 28/05/2013 08:26

Hi, morning everyone

Welcome wans
yoni and book I hope things get better for you both
blue ouch. I hope your dentist and midwife can offer you some good advice. Can you still take paracetamol?
penny congratulations Flowers

Oh God, am I feeling the rage this morning. Angry
OH woke up for work at 6 and woke up DS in the process who usually doesn't wake till 8/8.30ish. Hence, a very grumpy toddler, who demanded his usual beans on toast breakfast and grumped and clung to me like a limpet till I put him back to bed 10 minutes ago. Not only that but DP has made the entire downstairs smell like a busload of teenagers with his deodorant. Have complained that the smell makes me heave but he says that's how all men's deodorants smell. I have to take DS to mum and toddler which he loves, but I hate. Oh, and my washing machines broken. the asda delivery gave me the large a4 stamps instead of the regular ones so I can't do my business correspondence. Not having a great day so far. But the suns shining and I'm toddler free for now, so I'll have another cup of tea and try to relax.

I hope everyone's having a better day than me

fryingpantoface · 28/05/2013 08:27

Hi blue I don't have anything to add, but Gobbolino has good advice :)

Yoni and Book i'm so sorry you're worried, I hope things look better today.

I was able to unhide the thread! It was amongst the customise bit.

Yesterday I didn't manage to eat anything until dinner time, but the food started to taste off so I only ate a little of it. I'm just so tired all the time really. I'm planning on having a really early night, 8ish, so hopefully i'll feel better soon.

DH totally depressed me yesterday by telling me how he saw an old friend who is due in Sept and there's nothing on her. Doesn't look pregnant at all. I look bloody massive! I was over-weight to begin with, but there's an actual bump-like bump now. The mw said that I would show earlier because 1) it's not my first pregnancy 2) I was over-weight anyway and 3) of the cyst in my uterus. It's still depressing that people at work have guessed and when I've confirmed (which maybe I shouldn't have, but I was caught at a throwing up stage) they all thought I was further on. :(

enormouse · 28/05/2013 08:29

Aaw, my DP has told me he's ordered me the Tudors DVD box set as he knew I've been feeling awful. I can't kill him for not taking the rubbish out or the dense cloud of lynx he's left or the damp towels everywhere after all.

enormouse · 28/05/2013 08:31

fryingpan that's tough but at least people will be understanding and go a little easier on you. Sending virtual hugs.

MrsAVB · 28/05/2013 08:36

Morning all!
Going into work a little late due to 3x vom this morning. Was heading out the door when the last one hit so missed train and having a sit for half an hour. penny you have given me hope that it will ease off soon - can someone explain to me the 9 weeks placenta kicking in thing?
Oh and if anyone wants my seabands, pm me your address and I'll pop them in the post as they didn't work for me.
Lots of love to yoni and book and anyone else worrying about bleeding at the moment.
pea your food aversion sounds really crap. Hope you are managing to eat little bits. DH is getting fed up of me not knowing what I'm going to want for dinner and then not eating whatever he makes (eg he made a roast on Sunday and I could only manage mash and gravy).
8+1 today
13 days til booking appointment
24 days til scan
Less than 7 months left of work
Counting helps!
Sorry I haven't kept up very well with everyone, welcome newbies
Have a good day all xxx

chocoloulou33 · 28/05/2013 08:42
