Yeay Toby! So pleased for you!!! Xxx

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 26/05/2013 13:17

Yay toby that is ace news! And now we are date twins - i am 7+2 today as well!

carrot I've bought a few books, and a pregnancy diary (just a nice notebook) to write down how I feel etc. Nothing else though!

LittlePeaPod · 26/05/2013 13:25

Humpty thanks and trying really hard to eat but just dry gagging (awful). Will defo peak to MW

Toby that's fantastic and congratulations. Flowers I second extra heard they are common and about 40% of women of child bearing age get them (according o NHS)

Altered thank you. My MIL is a lovely Christian woman who goes to church every Sunday but she can also be a contradiction as she can be very judgemental, overbearingly opinionated and interfering. And she seems to be getting worse with age... Hmm. She also announced she would be right outside the door whilst I was in labour in case her son couldn't cope and passed out.. we have no intentions of telling anyone i am in labour till baby arrives.. Ohhhh the thought of my mother and MIL there telling everyone how things were done in the good old days... Arrrrggggggg Normally I can ignore her but she really got under my skin yesterday. Ha ha Grin. DF is getting close to telling her to mind her own... I am so jealous as would love to have an appetite.. And I am with you on the keeping up on the thread...

Blue I haven't bought anything, not even looked Blush. Still a bit paranoid so probably won't till after 12 week scan. I do however know I am a complete chicken so I want all the drugs I can eat my hands on when in labour and we are seriously considering an elective c-section. Grin

Off to go and buy some ginger biscuits as a few people have recommended them. I may try some hot chocolate too. FX.

Congratulations toby, that's excellent news!

TobyLerone · 26/05/2013 13:53

Thanks for all the good wishes, all. I really appreciate it.

We booked another scan for 2 weeks time, but the lady who did it seems to think that the EPU will want to scan me themselves also. I may have gone from no scans to ALL THE SCANS!

Fibroids are indeed very common, but I've googled (of course) and my chances of c-section/interventions/premature birth/malpresentation are much higher than they would otherwise be (one of the fibroids is quite big, apparently). This makes me sad because it means a home birth, or even one in the MLU, which would be the next best thing, is unlikely.

Bit worried because my 12-week scan is on 19th June, but because this scan put me back a week or so, I'll only be 10+5 then. I'll have to mention it at EPU. Maybe they'll change it so they don't have to get me back in again.

Pod, could you manage a milkshake? Or a smoothie? You can make very nutritious smoothies with apple juice, bananas, oats and a bit of greek yogurt if you like. You can add peanut butter for protein, too. Sorry if the thought makes you feel worse :(

I'm glad your scan went well too, BookTart :)

I haven't bought anything yet, but I'm dying to start knitting!

MrsAVB · 26/05/2013 14:06

Hello all.
Sorry I've been a bit AWOL, have had a really awful few days with vomming. Went out for (what would've been) a really lovely meal with DH on Friday night in one of our favourite "treat" restaurants. Main was crucified due to having to have it well done (i think chefs do that just to prove a point), plus I vommed in the toilets, nice. Yesterday I spent the whole day up-chucking, couldn't keep anything down. Was meeting a friend for breakfast, vommed 4 times before leaving the house, and then had to make an excuse (hangover) to leave after 45 mins. We were supposed to be at a party last night, but in the end DH went without me because I was so sick. The host's first reply when we text to say I wasn't coming was "are you pg?", more lies!
Today has been almost as bad but not quite. Think I'll go to the GP if am still feeling this bad Tuesday. Does anyone else feel worse at the weekends? I had a really busy week at work so am wondering if this is my body's way of forcing me to slow down. But it is bloody annoying and boring!
toby, really glad you had a good scan.
Love to everyone xxx

BookTart · 26/05/2013 15:04

That sounds terrible mrsavb, I hope it passes soon.

Awesome news toby, glad it went well.

The scan reassured me for all of 2 hours, as I've had some cramping and spotting since then. Both are very light, so I'm going totally mental trying to be sensible and just see how it goes. I think I'll go and have a nap in the garden and take it easy for the rest of the weekend :)

bluecarrot · 26/05/2013 15:14

Oh, toby you reminded me I have knitted and crocheted a few things too. I do them for the neonatal unit in a local hospital ( not the one I'm going to) so no one has batted an eyelid even though mine are a bit bigger. Had to stop a week ago as I started getting upset over the tiny size of the preemie stuff Hmm

Saying that, I got upset in supermarket yesterday when I couldn't decide between two chocolate bars. I actually went to the loo to compose myself. So you can imagine how bad it was with the preemie stuff....

BTW, it occurred to me I could buy BOTH chocolate bars. So I did.

Pop2014 · 26/05/2013 16:15

regarding sickness. Has anyone tried sickness acupressure bands? Im thinking of popping in to Boots tomorrow to try them out, anything is worth a go, ive resulted in carrying a 'Pret' paper bag wherever I go just in case I throw up which is charming. Just wondered if anyones tried them? and how they found them. I've had mixed feedback from friends and family, may just try them out myself

Here's a link to them-
Bands

forget who suggested it but I downloaded the sprout app, and it's really helpful! loves the stuff its got on it

Sultanajo · 26/05/2013 16:58

blue bless u! You sound about as rational as me! Did make me chuckle over the chocolate bars, but can absolutely empathise!

mrsavb I would definitely say contact your GP if u carry on like this. Thats really not fun! I had a well done steak out a few weeks ago and it was effectively a charred mess on a plate! Grrrr!

Sultanajo · 26/05/2013 17:00

pop I have tried sea bands which are similar to the ones u r thinking of. They helped a bit, but left massive welts on my wrists where the nobbly bit applies the pressure and after a few days they seemed to stop working. I would say give them a go and see how u get on x

Sultanajo · 26/05/2013 17:02

book its awful isnt it! Everything scares the shit out of me. Deep breaths and a bit of sun in the garden! Hope the spotting buggers off!

Sultanajo · 26/05/2013 17:04

pod discovered that today I actually enjoyed eating a bowl of blueberries (apart from the odd sharp one)! They were really refreshing and sweet! Worth a try perhaps?

Managed a mini portion of steak and mash but felt horrendously bad afterwards for two hours after. So bloody annoying!!!

Frogcatcher · 26/05/2013 17:07

Congratulations toby! Hope the fibroids news isn't too worrying for you as it sounds quite common.

Just got back from visiting my best friend from school & her 3 week yr old. Sooo cute. We set up her new baby gym & it was ace. I'd decided before I went that if she asked me something directly I wouldn't lie & would tell her but if she didn't I wouldn't volunteer tho was bursting to tell her. Anyway she asked right out if I was TTC so I just replied that I was already pg. It was so good to talk to someone in RL who remembers what 1st trimester is like.

Another friend used the acupuncture bands pop & found them useful but had to hide them under her clothes at work!

DP away overseas till weds now & am terrified in case something happens when he's gone. Sad

Sultanajo · 26/05/2013 17:09

I too am paranoid so all I have bought are a few pregnancy books. Bought two super cute baby grows for my friends new baby and allowed myself a brief daydream that one day soon I will be buying them for my own little bubba! Then stopped myself getting carried away....

Actually bought Myleene Klass's pregnancy book after reading good reviews and I am actually really enjoying it and thanking my lucky stars I am not in the public eye! Blush

Sultanajo · 26/05/2013 17:10

Toby that would be great to get regular scans. I am sure they will amend your 12 week scan date. Smile

Sultanajo · 26/05/2013 17:13

Aw frog I can just imagine how great it was confiding in your friend. Its a relief being able to talk about it to someone who gets on board with your current train of thinking isnt it! Grin

TobyLerone · 26/05/2013 17:34

:( book. Hope your spotting settles down.

MrsA, you should definitely go to your GP. They can give you something to help you. You don't have to struggle on like that -- it sounds awful :(

:o blue. Crying over chocolate!

Glad you got to tell your friend, Frog.

Myleene Klass, sultana? You'll be kicked off MN if you're not careful :o

Sultanajo · 26/05/2013 17:36

Omg Toby! I know! Really dont know what is wrong with me! Turning into a right sap! Blame the pregnancy hormones!!! Its the ONLY explanation for the insanity!!! Grin

MrsAVB · 26/05/2013 18:47

Hi all,
Feeling a bit better and managed to keep down lunch. Am shattered though and have done absolutely nothing all day. Although i did keep my lunch down, so thats progress. Thank god it's a bank holiday weekend!
pop I tried the seabands, they didn't work for me, but definitely worth a try!

MrsAVB · 26/05/2013 18:48

Oops... Keeping lunch down was obviously so noteworthy I had to tell you twice (now thrice). Sorry!

Sultanajo · 26/05/2013 19:02

Lol mrsavb its worth shouting it from the rooftops I reckon! Grin

extracrunchy · 26/05/2013 19:16

Definitely worth telling at least twice, MrsAVB - that's massive progress!

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 26/05/2013 20:30

Great news on all the scans Grin!

I've had a three hour sleep today and feeling quite a bit better. Still feeling quite sickish and unfortunately mainlining carbs makes me feel better. Not ideal. However, the thought of chocolate makes me feel sick so that's good!

I was at the supermarket yesterday and buying loads of random crap too - strawberry ribena anyone Hmm. However, I'm very luck that I'm not actually being sick so much sympathy to everyone who is. mrsavb - glad you're feeling a little better. pod - hope you are too.

book - sorry to hear re the spotting. Hope you're ok and you've got your feet up.

BookTart · 26/05/2013 20:40

sultana I am killing myself laughing about the Mylene Klass book Grin

thanks for all the good wishes everyone. Things seem to have calmed down a bit here, so I'm hoping that either the coughing from this wretched chest infection or the overzealous sonographer dislodged something. This does, however, give me perfect reason to continue poas-ing until my 12 week scan!

Well done on the lunch mrsavb, hope all the poorly people start to perk up soon.
