Keep I've just changed a rather fragrant dd. If you ebf then the nappies smell sweet rather than stinky.

EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 10/06/2013 13:43

I'm currently washing the sweet smell and sight off of K's clothes and car seat cover Shock

thanks boo

SweetieTime · 10/06/2013 15:33

Trix that is great news, so pleased things are progressing well for you. What happens next? Try not to worry about the lack of sickness, you might get lucky and not have any.

You lucky ladies with your fragrant smelling DDs. With the way my nose is at the moment I bet I could sniff them out from here Wink

Sparks how is the bouncing doing?

My next scan is a week today, I am already starting to fret about it a bit. I suppose that is only normal to worry that all will be ok. Other than that all is well with me. Nothing much to report.

RubberBullets · 10/06/2013 15:37

Sparks you do realise that any lack of posting on your part will have us deciding that it is because you are in labour? :o

sweetie I have another private scan in 10days. then I don't think ill have another till the beginning July. when I will have my official 12wk and also a more indepth 12wk with the fetal med consultant.
we briefly saw a midwife at the hosp this morning who mentioned other tests. I said I'd have one now if there was something they could test now to see if this will be successful or not. no such thing unfortunately, I must start researching so I can make a break thru in med scienceHmm . anyway didnt really know what she ment as the can't do anything till approx 12wks. she did mention something where they take a bit of the placenta to test I forget what she called it. not something Id heard of, not CVS or amnio. but I dont want anything like that done its too risky.

cartoontrickster · 10/06/2013 16:11

actually maybe it was CVS, what's the full words? she used the full proper medical words for what ever it was anyway. but I don't get why I would choose it have that before I've even had a scan to see if there is any problems.

EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 10/06/2013 17:27

Chorionic Villus sampling

cartoontrickster · 10/06/2013 17:31

ah right yes I think that was what she said but confused me by calling it that rather than the abbreviation.

trix great news on the scan! I think she'd have mentioned cvs for a few reasons
-NT scanning is not diagnostic, ie it does not say one way or the other, just stratifies risk. Something like 30% of downs foetuses won't have a physical marker so wouldn't be picked up on a scan. Cvs would tell you for sure
-some people who've had a previous issue would want to know for certain. I don't know if or how much risk increases if you've had a prev positive, and can't remember if it was DS for you last time
-cvs can be done from 11 weeks, and I think results are fastish.

Of course, whether you choose to have this, amino, or nothing depends on what you'd do if it was positive, I guess. And how much you want to know for certain.

Are you still considering the harmony test? It was in the news the other day - great stuff.

Make sure you talk all this through with your midwife, or AN screening counsellor, as you need to know the options, risks, etc. Don't feel bad to ask them again if you don't understand, or need more info. It's their job. X

sweetie I won't tell you not to worry about Monday, but at least it'll be here soon. Odds are v good, as you know.

Thanks to all for nappy reassurance..........

sparks sorry twinks is not yet ready, but at least you know now. He's just too comfy!

cartoontrickster · 11/06/2013 07:13

I think I was very suprised they were asking about something they can't do for another 3/4wks. I've been trying to put things like that out of my mind so I'm not constantly worrying. I almost felt like she was saying there was something wrong. of course she wasn't, just giving us our options really. last time wasn't downs, it was a random chromosome as far as I know there's no name for it. the consultant certainly didn't call it anything other that a random chromosome issue that was unlikely to replicate.
I guess really I still don't know what I would actually do as pebble died before we needed to make any tough decisions.
CVS and amino terrify me so I think I'd always rather scrape the money together for a harmony test.
I guess I hadn't really thought about the fact that there may not be anything physical they can see on the scan.
its just the consultant seemed so positive that we didn't need to worry and there wouldn't be a problem this time.

keepitgoing · 11/06/2013 07:56

Yes, but that's true for all of us. You just have to weigh up risks and benefits. That's great that they say last time shouldn't affect this time. The harmony test I think is brill, I'm not sure how many chromosomal issues it looks at, but as you're having the in depth scan that should be plenty?
One step at a time. You're doing so well. How is dh now, talking about the pg yet?

cartoontrickster · 11/06/2013 10:13

I feel confident enough at the moment that the scan and normal nt test will be fine.
dh was awful all weekend he started worrying about Monday's scan right from Sat morning. he was so moody I couldve killed him he was doing my head in. its understandable of course but I don't allow myself to get in those states about it especially not 2days before hand. theres always a high after a scan and he'll be fine for a week or so. the worrying will kick in again a day or 2 before our next scan which is in 9days so not long to wait.

EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 12/06/2013 07:34

Morning, not a lot to say today but thought I had better bump our thread up a bit :)

How is everyone feeling today?

OP posts:
keepitgoing · 12/06/2013 08:14

Fought with dh about births this morning, ended up telling him I wouldn't have him there if he wasn't careful. He was being too doctor-y, all that matters is a safe baby. Yes, that's the most important, but not the only thing... We've made up now and he's promised to read around on women's experiences etc.

SweetieTime · 12/06/2013 08:57

keep sorry to hear you have been having words but the birth is a long way off. I am sure dh will come around to the idea given time.

Nothing much to report here. I am getting really tired in the evening which makes me feel a bit bleugh. I am hoping this will pass in a while. keep do you still feel tired?

Sparks how you feeling? any signs of twinks moving into place?

Sorry, sweetie, yes I'm still tired. Nap after lunch, bed at 9.30/10 most days... But it is v hot here which doesn't help. I'm better than I was.

I don't want to even think about the birth till 20 weeks!

Come on twinks!

you guys have made me feel a bit better. I hate it when random people take pleasure in telling you all the negatives. why not tell you all the lovely things such as newborn snuggles, cute toothless smiles and baby gurgles when they talk to you. You never seem to hear about the good bit only the whinging.
