Hello ladies - I've also been guilty of lurking. In theory am about 5 weeks but had some spotting right at the start (and cramping) so GP advised me to wait a week and test again on Friday so I don't know if I'm legitimately part of this group or not Sad. You all seem to be right off food - is that because most of you are 6-8 weeks pg? At 5 weeks did you have nausea / vom symptoms? This is (hopefully) my 3rd pg - I had absolutely no symptoms with DS2 and was amazed at the scan (14 weeks) to see a very healthy growing baby (now nearly 3). So, perhaps my lack of symptoms is not a concern. (I do have pretty sore boobs - hurt with the pressure of water in the shower). Anyhow, I just wanted to dip in and say hi and hopefully become a fully fledged member of your fab thread on Friday...fingers x!

TobyLerone · 21/05/2013 09:40

You can eat prawns, fryingpan.

lovelilies · 21/05/2013 09:49

Mornin all Grin
just an idea... you know how they keep a list on the bfp threads of people's stats..?
can we do something similar i.e. lovelilies, dc 2, EDD 17th Jan, etc?
mightmake it easier to keep up with who's who?
I don't have time ATM but if anyone does, I think it would be fun Smile

gemma277 · 21/05/2013 09:55

Love, its already done. If you go to the ante natal threads theres a 'january 2014-stats thread' with everyones stats on it who's added them and if people want to add them.

enjoyingscience · 21/05/2013 09:56

Mornin!

There's a separate stats thread at www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/1751838-January-2014-Stats-Thread

Is that what you mean?

I'm waiting for my reassurance scan on friday, which will be 6+2. Earlier than would be ideal, but I really wanted to know everything was ok (or not) before going on hols. Starting to geta tiny bit naueous in the morning, but only for a few minutes, and to be honest it could just be the trauma of waking up Grin

Hope everyone's fine and dandy today

fryingpantoface · 21/05/2013 10:01

You've made my day toby I know what I'm going to have for lunch!

TobyLerone · 21/05/2013 10:06

You can eat them as long as they've been thoroughly cooked and are either piping hot or chilled. Like anyone would eat them raw Hmm

fryingpantoface · 21/05/2013 10:37

The prawns in a bought prawn salad, are they cooked? Or in a prawn cocktail?

gemma277 · 21/05/2013 10:47

Yes when prawns are cooked they are pink. When they are raw they are grey. Im sure they would be cooked and nice and pinkWink

TobyLerone · 21/05/2013 10:48

What gemma said :)

LittlePeaPod · 21/05/2013 10:53

I didn't think we were alloud. My MW told me to avoid shell fish even if pipping hot. And I love shellfish!! [Sad].

Morning all. I'm 5 weeks pg with my first, so EDD is 24 January 2014. In my area we self-refer to whichever hospital we want to use for maternity care (UCH or Whittington) so I'm spending today doing my research on them.
I'm 36 but realising how little I've paid attention to babies over the years, feel like I don't know anything about this!

TobyLerone · 21/05/2013 11:09

"You can safely eat prawns in pregnancy as long as they are cooked thoroughly until steaming hot. You can also eat them if they have been previously cooked, for example in a prawn sandwich."

Feeling the same as u humpty feel so sick & ill but not actually being sick but almost feel like if I was that's gotta be better than this. I've got to go into work soon & the thought of it makes me wanna cry! I can't eat a thing 2day. Every smell is turning my stomach. My house looks like a bombs hit & now running out of clean uniform for the kids. Stress. Need to get off my butt x

BookTart · 21/05/2013 11:33

I'm the same lou and humpty, feeling sick but not being sick.

I'm in a panic and need some advice if that's okay. I had backache and strong cramps all yesterday. It was worse in the evening with some stabbing pain and pain when I moved. Mostly on left side, but not totally. I couldn't even sleep on my left side because the pressure hurt. No bleeding though. The cramps are much better today although still happen occasionally, and still no bleeding although my CM has changed and become (TMI) thicker and yellowish green rather than watery and clear like it has been so far.

Obviously I'm convinced this is either a mmc or an ectopic, but really I haven't idea. A burst cyst or an infection? It is impossible to see my GP, but I've taken Friday off work in case they have a space. Is it worth bothering the EPU? I couldn't get there until Thursday or Friday either.

Sorry for the me,me,me.

sarahleanne · 21/05/2013 11:54

mythreeknights-I also was concerned about lack of symptoms but I think u mentioned u didn't have any syptoms with ur 2nd so maybe this is normal for u? I was really sick with my first 2 pregnancies and not so much this time but each one is different.im 5+2 weeks.

I ate prawns last week...didn't even think about it (woops) but im sure theyre ok to eat...and they are yummy so I don't care haha.

sarahleanne · 21/05/2013 12:05

omg just saw the antenatal thread for Jan...theres loads of us now!! im still at the end though, rubbish ha.

Frogcatcher · 21/05/2013 12:17

Tart there was a previous poster yesterday or day before with greenish discharge but I can't remember what the outcome was & I can't seem to find it on my phone. You could try scrolling back?

MrsGSR · 21/05/2013 12:32

The scan went well, it looks like there is just one, but the 'fetal pole' is about the right size and in the right place (which is a relief as I was worried that it might be ectopic).
It's still too small for a heartbeat so I have another scan next friday (When I should be about 7 and a half weeks) by which time I should be able to see a bit more.

Booktart could you find a number for your local EPU on the nhs website and give them a ring? I rang when I had some pain and they were very reassuring and told me what to do :)

mythreeknight I'm almost 6 weeks and have still not had any real nausea :) fx you'll get good news on friday :)

Sultanajo · 21/05/2013 12:41

Yeay MrsGSR glad its all looking as it should and u have another scan next week!

tart I agree with MrsGSR I would call your local epu and just have a chat.

MrsVDB · 21/05/2013 12:42

Sarah I'm 25th when are you ? It's exciting hearing what we've got to look forward to in next couple of weeks!

BookTart · 21/05/2013 12:43

Cheers Frog - I'm on my phone too but will have a search when I get in.

Glad the scan went well MrsGSR :) I've called the EPU who have booked a scan for Sunday, but have made me promise that if it gets bad again I'll go to A&E in case it is ectopic.

Frizz1986 · 21/05/2013 12:48

mrsgsr sounding good. There is something there which is always a great relief I expect! And at least u have another date and scan to wait for and it's not too far away.

Welcome to even more newbies. Can't believe how many there are.
I am managing to eat some cheese topped rolls today but whoever mentioned cheese and ham toasties has really got me going. Will prob make me feel ill later tho if i think of them. Sickness seems to be coming and going atm so am hoping I may not get it too bad. If it means the next 8 months go ok tho I will take it.

I def have a feeling that it's the 6 week mark when it all kicks off. Tiredness is killing me, my eyes are actually closing as i type on my lunch break. Am really glad I told my boss now as at least she knows I'm not just slacking!

Very envious of people who already have dates for scans etc. I am waiting for my appointments thru but don't think I will get anything in the post until I am back from holiday on 1st June.

sarahleanne · 21/05/2013 12:55

mrs vdb- my EDD is 19th, I am last on the list apart from u and one or two others I think? im bound to be late anyway,i was induced on both my other pregnancies lol.

mrsgsr-great news!! I remember with my 2nd I had a scan at 6+2 and she told me she thinks if I had gone the day before there wouldn't of been a heartbeat yet...they took ages to find it that day which resulted in me crying lol. glad u have another scan next week.

sarahleanne · 21/05/2013 12:59

is anyone else trying really hard not to buy maternity clothes yet? ive been on new looks website and asos about 3 times today but managed to avoid buying anything...I don't wanna jinx it and I think I may need to try stuff on too. I didn't buy maternity until about 4/5 months with my other pregnancies but I have a feeling im going to need it all sooner this time.
