MrsGSR excellent news glad all is ok and you have another scan next week! Lucky you!

Sarah I am obsessed with looking at maternity clothes by DH thinks Im a bit mad, I've still got a few things that fit me from 1st pregnancy but didn't really buy much maternity as didn't really need until 5/6 months preg but the seasons are wrong. My last pregnancy was a summer one and this one will be a winter one. Also, they say subsequent pregnancies you start showing a lot sooner. Well thats my excuse for buying more lol I cant wait to wear everything again, its soooo comfy Smile

rosalux · 21/05/2013 13:09

Hello All

I got my BFP last Friday and am now almost 5wks - EDD 23 Jan - so all very early days. So far I have taken 3 tests and am planning to have an early scan once I get to 7weeks. I have a DS aged 21 months and when I found out with him it was just before Xmas, so I spent 2 weeks on the sofa watching downtown abbey and eating yogurt covered banana chips. Not this time!

I'm really hoping that I can stay positive as I spent pretty much the whole of last time in a state of mild panic and stress despite all being fine and didn't get to enjoy much of being pregnant.

MrsGSR · 21/05/2013 13:20

Thanks all :) I walked back from the hospital (about 2 miles) and feel really great now, although I was exhaused at the time!

I've already bought maternity clothes! It my first pregnancy so it will probably be a while before I wear then (although I've been wearing some of the underbump jeans with an elastic cotton bit around the house, they are amazingly comfortable!)

Welcome rosalux

gemma277 · 21/05/2013 13:30

Welcome all newbies, January is sure going to be busy for maternity departments!!

SpecificDreamRabbit · 21/05/2013 13:46

Bubba, welcome! I am six weeks today, and I am going to ring up my GP some time this week.

MrsG, very glad to hear your scan went well!

Mythreeknights, I spotted right at the start too ? for about five days before I got my bfp. So try not to worry! I think it was my body gearing up to have a period, and then having to put on the brakes. Must be confusing to the system!

Vatta, you are not alone in feeling like you don?t know what you?re doing, haha ? count me in! No idea how I?m meant to pick which hospital I want to give birth in.

Sorry to anyone I missed, am a bit behind on the thread! Blush

I am soooooo irritable at the moment, and I?m getting really wound up about ridiculous things. I know they?re ridiculous, but I can?t stop myself! Luckily, my partner is being very understanding and as soon as I start flailing he springs into action and sorts the ridiculously minor issue out.

Glad to hear I?m not alone with odd food aversions! I think mine are coming on more strongly now ? my taste buds are definitely different. It?s kind of like when you have a cold, in a way. My cornflakes this morning tasted like cardboard, will have to pick up something else to have for tomorrow.

Am still not feeling sick though ? and I?m torn between being happy about it and worrying that not feeling sick means something?s wrong! Keep reminding myself that I?m only six weeks, so plenty of time yet for vomming, haha.

Can?t believe people are already telling their bosses! I am definitely waiting till after my twelve-week scan. But then I definitely wouldn?t be looking to my boss for sympathy if the worst happened, so I?m happy to hold off for now.

Penny31 · 21/05/2013 13:50

Ooo midwife rang and changed my booking in appointment from7th June to next Tues :) hope that means I get a soonish appointment for my scan! I'll be 9+2 on tues.

MrsGSR · 21/05/2013 14:07

Specific I definately know what you mean about getting wound up about ridiculous things, poor DH is having to deal with my terrible mood swings, hopefulyy they wont last long!

Penny glad your appointment is earlier :) I hate waiting!

Has anyone elses body thermostat just stopped working? I'm either boiling or freezing. Right now I'm practically sat on the fire (electric lucky or could be a safety hazard) but last night I was burning up!

TobyLerone · 21/05/2013 14:14

Great news re the scan, MrsG :)

Welcome, newbies!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 21/05/2013 14:25

booktart I think a change in discharge is prob okay, but yes, ring EPU and ask - it'll reassure you hopefully, if nothing else!

MrsG woop for good scan and all that walking - v saintly. Also yy to body thermostat broken. I am BOILING at night and freezing in the day. Or the other way around. Normally I am cold blooded (I'd ideally live in a desert, and sunbake all day), but it's weird being so hot!

Sarah struggling not to buy EVERYTHING - i looked on Project Nursery earlier and I want ALL the things now!

Specific i am a rage machine. I hate all people all the time. I am always intolerant anyway actually I am not, people are just unreasonable and stupid but pg hormones have exacerbated SO MUCH. I shouted at a bloke for staring at my comically oversized boobs last night on the way home; he was like this ---> Shock
I can't seem to hold it in - as he was doing it, I was thinking 'what if I have a daughter, and she has to experience this same kind of SEXUAL HARASSMENT AND OBJECTIFICATION?!?! I MUST PROTECT HER!' Seriously overboard reaction, although he was a bit pervy Grin.

extracrunchy · 21/05/2013 14:34

I am insanely intolerant of stupid things nowadays. Can't stand feeling DH's breath on me, particularly when he's asleep... Confused

SpecificDreamRabbit · 21/05/2013 14:35

Eee, I predict I am going to be spending hours looking at Project Nursery - thanks for the link!

I have an evening to myself this evening, so I expect I'll spend half of it cooing at cute things on the internet, and the other half in a BALL OF RAGE at something or other. At least I can genuinely blame the hormones! Are we going to feel like we have PMT for the whole nine months, I wonder?!! What a thought!

MrsAVB · 21/05/2013 14:42

Hi all
mythree, welcome! i think everyone is different with the vomming. I started early but am really REALLY hoping that means I finish early too! Sore boobs were my first symptom but that has eased off now.
vatta, welcome too! I was asked to choose a hospital at my first GP appointment (although can change my mind) from 3. The things that swayed it for me were which one was nearest/ easy to get to, and also that me had midwives surgeries at my gp, so unless anything goes wrong I'll be able to see them there rather than have to go to hospital.
book, I know not everyone on here is a fan, but I'd ring NHS direct and see what they suggested.
mrsg great news, congrats! Must be such a relief!
Re. maternity clothes, I don't feel at all ready for that yet, too scary! I'm hoping I'll get hand me downs as the thought of buying stuff that I'm not going to wear for long is annoying.
rosa welcome... And you have given me a craving for yoghurt covered banana now!
rabbit I really didn't want to tell my boss but kind of felt I had to as had a day off sick last week and have been vomming and retching at work; I have a lot of meetings so wanted her to know in case she needs to fill in.
penny - great news on your earlier appointment!
humpty hope you are snuggled up resting and feeling better xxx
Does anyone else have a very noisy stomach? its getting a bit embarrassing...

MrsAVB · 21/05/2013 14:44

X posted... humpty am loving your shouting at the man on the bus story. Men, pfft! X

DawnOfTheDee · 21/05/2013 16:01

Hi everyone and congrats to all the newbies!

Can't believe how many there are of us on this thread! I was in an antenatal club for DD and I thought that was busy! I think there are twice as many on here. The more the merrier I say :)

I phoned my GP's today and have got my booking in appointment with the midwife on 3rd June. I am sooooo excited. So far have only told DH (obvs) and my best friend. With my best friend we went to London yesterday to have afternoon tea at the Ritz. I wanted to wait till then to tell her so I spent all day accepted drinks but then chucking them in other people's empty glasses and plant pots! It worked though. It's the best way...people will notice you saying no to drink but don't notice if you don't actually drink them! and noone EVER believes the antibiotics excuse btw

I'd be interested to know where we all are....I'm in Leeds. Where are you?

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 21/05/2013 16:06

Since you liked the link, specific how about this:

Most Pointless Baby Gagdet Ever?

I signed up to Bounty for emails and this is one of the genius things they recommend. I'm gonna sign up to all the baby ones now! This is excellent distraction.

gemma277 · 21/05/2013 16:07

Hehe, I love hearing all the excuses! I don't drink anyway so i don't have to add that to my list. I'm in Central London...

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 21/05/2013 16:08

Oh, and Dawn (ace name), I am in London - East London, Docklands way. Hate it. We're moving as soon as I twist DH's arm to SE London though.

DawnOfTheDee · 21/05/2013 16:14

That gadget is ridiculous Humpty! I'm firmly in the 'don't mollycoddle' camp of parenting. As my mum says a happy childhood is no preparation for life! Wink

Madratlady · 21/05/2013 16:15

rosalux I'm due on the 23rd too! I'm quite worried too, I'm just hoping I get to 12 weeks smoothly so i can start to relax a bit.

I'm feeling really emotional, and starting to get odd periods of nausea but not too bad and no vomming yet. The worst bit so fr is the metalic taste, someone on another thread described it as tasting like sucking a rusty spoon, and that's exactly what it tastes like. Yuk! Sipping squash seems to help though.

I got judged at the GPs yesterday! I was talking to the receptionist about arranging my booking in appointment and there was an older man giving me dirty looks. I assume it's because I'm fairly young (22) and look younger and had no DH with me at the time.

SpecificDreamRabbit · 21/05/2013 16:18

Hahaha, humpty, that is amazing ridiculous. Baby would have the most pampered bottom ever! Do you think you can get the same effect on the cheap by huffing on the wipe before applying? Grin

I have just moved from SE London to just outside North London! I was in Crystal Palace - loved it there, but we just couldn't afford to buy anything other than a pokey one bed flat in the general area so we decided to go elsewhere.

Definitely the more the merrier, dawn! It's so lovely to have people to talk to - think I'd go mad if I couldn't natter on about being pregnant on the internet, as I can't do it in RL yet! Love the thought of you chucking drinks into plant pots every time someone turned their head, that's ace!

DawnOfTheDee · 21/05/2013 16:29

rosalux and Madratlady I'm due on 23rd too!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 21/05/2013 16:42

Specific I am shocked that you wouldn't want to pamper your precious baby's bottom for the bargain price of only £25. Next you'll be saying that you won't dress them exclusively in Ralph Lauren Kids, or something equally absurd. Everyone knows you have to chuck money at a baby, they like it Grin

Crystal Palace! I'd love to live there. We're looking in Blackheath/Hither Green/Ladywell. Been priced out of East Dulwich (a while back), Forest Hill and now Sydenham - getting quite cross with estate agents gouging prices. And idiots paying it...

MrsAVB · 21/05/2013 16:42

Man alive, a baby wipe warmer! I'm with you dawn, in fact I might keep my baby wipes in the fridge just to make sure bAbyVB (ooh a new NN!) doesn't get too pampered. Not really... don't call social services.
madrat, I hope you gave him some dirty looks back? Men!
I am in SE London.
Today I have been very hard at work looking at humpty's links and childcare options and getting depressed about costs. I know it's early days but what are people thinking about going back to work/ childcare?
X

TobyLerone · 21/05/2013 16:47

I used to put the wipes on my knee to warm (kneeling on the floor to change the baby). Baby wipe warmer indeed!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 21/05/2013 16:47

madrat how bloody rude? Like it's ANY of his business. You can't win, can you - either it's Kate Fucking Garraway telling us to get upduffed earlier, or you're a teenage mum. When is the perfect age then? NEVER?!

Mrs AVB COLD BABYWIPES?
I'd love to be a SAHM after bean has arrived. We've vaguely talked, and it's dependent on what DH is doing, but I think we may come to that, and I'll stay at home and have another, then go back after #2 is in nursery/pre-school. I don't want to stay at home forever, but I don't want only 12 months then back to work, never seeing them, paying every penny of my salary for childcare. Hard, isn't it? What about you?
