SadPander · 19/05/2013 16:18

Book tart yes my belly is definitely increasing in size! I'm only 8 weeks so I presume its just bloating, I've been having to sneakily undo my trousers every time I sit down at work!

Is anyone else at all concerned about putting on weight during pregnancy? My BMI is about 28, not good I know. I'm feeling really embarrassed about having to be weighed at my 1st appointment in 4 weeks, but I guess it would just be stupid to try and loose weight now?

TobyLerone · 19/05/2013 16:20

My BMI is the same, SadPander. I just keep thinking "well, I'm not the fattest person I know!"

BookTart · 19/05/2013 16:25

carrot, I can't even think about bigger boobs - I'm already a G cup so I have decided to live in denial about the fact that they are clearly already a bit bigger!

sadpander I am really quite worried because I've been sitting on my chubby backside for the last two weeks instead of exercising and I was already bigger than I wanted to be. I've just had to rush out and buy work-appropriate skirts in a size larger than normal because I can't even get my trousers done up! I don't know about losing weight on purpose though, maybe wait until your appointment and ask the midwife? It sounds like it wouldn't be a good thing, but I don't actually know.

science I hope work is over soon!

TobyLerone · 19/05/2013 16:34

Mine just told me to walk more :o

Sultanajo · 19/05/2013 16:38

Sadpanda I too have been sat on my chubby ass the last few weeks and my BMI is 30 which shocked me when I worked it out! I have been weighing myself a lot since my bfp and in the last few days I have actually lost a couple of pounds due to the nausea and tiny portions I am currently eating. Bit worried once the nausea wears off - got to be really careful not to pile on the pounds!

I too have been in stretchy trousers for the last few weeks as am soooo bloated and I cant bear anything tight around my waist at the moment...

Welcome to all the newbies!

Good luck to everyone having scans in the next few days. So pleased you are now looking forward to your next scan Pod!

MrsGSR · 19/05/2013 16:38

Book I'm now a GG and I can't find bras anywhere! I hold all my weight on my thighs and boobs so I have a stupidly small back size which doesn't help :(

I keep unbuttoning my trousers as I'm so bloated. Before getting pregnant I was a little heavier than I'd like so I'm trying to minamise how much I gain. I don't think it's a good idea to eat less when pregnant, but eating the same and exercising more is a good way to be healthy. If your BMI is above 25 you should be aiming to gain 15-25 pounds during pregnancy according to what I read, but I'm waiting for my midwife appiontment to find out for sure.

Sultanajo · 19/05/2013 16:41

MissM that sounds amazing being able to have scans so regularly!

SadPander · 19/05/2013 16:42

TobyLerone yes I do this too, I know much larger people who have had healthy pregnancies. Have been for a nice walk today and I'm thinking of some gentle exercise every evening on my KINECT - Its just a case of getting off my lazy backside and doing it when I feel so tired!
BookTart fingers crossed a lot of it will be bloating for you, but it feels horrible either way doesn't it! Do you mind me asking if your BMI is in the healthy range at the the moment or not? Please don't answer that if you'd rather not though, I know its a bit of a personal question.

I know that I am overweight, but I find the thought of having the midwife say it, or see it written in my notes devastating! Blush Stupid really, but I kind of live in hope that other people haven't noticed if you see what I mean?!

MrsVDB · 19/05/2013 16:42

Hi all

Been lurking for a few days. Got bfp on Thursday although thought I knew about a week earlier as (sorry tmi!) constipated and had thrush. Only ever had thrush before when I was pregnant last year. Ended in mc at 7 weeks after seeing the heartbeat and being told all was well. Would have been due in a week or so so it's nice to be preggers again before then!

Been feeling terrible with (again tmi) diarrhea and tummy cramps every hour since Friday and went to doctors and was told I have food poisoning... Great start!

Due 25th jan

:)

Sultanajo · 19/05/2013 16:49

Sadpanda I know exactly what u mean. Last time no one weighed me until the 12 week scan, so I thought they obviously didnt see me as horrendously overweight (which didnt help the denial I was in). However I was half a stone lighter last time.

Welcome MrsV so pleased you are preggers again before u would have been due. Will keep everything crossed for a sticky bean for u this time!

LittlePeaPod · 19/05/2013 16:53

Congratulations to the new ladies with BFP Flowers

Just a quick one as not had a chance to read through properly.... Whoever posted about increase in dress size, thank you. I thought it was just me.. Had to buy new work suites today as only two fit me. I have been in tears to DF (who I think is convinced I am slowly losing the plot) for about half an hour about this particular subject and the fact there are no prego shops in Leeds. So will be going online this week to get stretchy stuff which will hopefully last me and looks good on (if there is such a thing).

Sultanajo · 19/05/2013 16:58

I feel very much as though I am in an inbetween stage - feeling fat but no bump yet to explain it. Am just glad I dont have anything I have to dress up for in the next few weeks. Am living in my stretchy combats at the moment. Cant even wear my fat jeans at the moment as they are far too uncomfortable to sit down in....am dreading it getting hotter as am thankful my jumper is covering the bloat currently! X

Sultanajo · 19/05/2013 17:00

Last time when I started looking at the maternity wear options in next, dorothy perkins and even new look, all their maternity departments had gone! How crazy! I need to try things on before I buy! Where are u supposed to go now???

enjoyingscience · 19/05/2013 17:06

ASOS have quite a lot of maternity stuff, and H&M are pretty ok. Last time round I think I got a fair bit from topshop, but seem to remember hating every piece of maternity colthing I owned, so will maybe avoid! To be honest, a lot of the stuff I bought then was just larger normal clothes, which looked like they might fit a bump in them.

MrsH17 · 19/05/2013 17:10

Hi all, I'm about 6 weeks, due around 8th Jan. Major nausea for last couple of days and have slept like a bear in hibernation! Looking forward to sharing this journey with you all, safe in the knowledge that I'm not the only one who feels like they have a permanent hangover!

BookTart · 19/05/2013 17:13

sultanajo last time I weighed myself I was at the very top of the 'normal' BMI range (like, 24 point something, maybe three months ago). I don't have scales in my house though, so I have no idea how much I weigh now. It will be well over, because my jeans don't fit anymore and my work skirts make me feel sick when I wear them. I have always been a bit hollow backed and pot-bellied though.

It feels a bit like I'm tempting fate to buy proper maternity clothes now, so I nipped to Matalan and bought a skirt in a size up with a stretchy waistband. It is very long and makes me look a bit like a dalek. I've been through all my clothes this afternoon and put away all the things that don't fit and pulled out some floaty summer things and a couple of big skirts that should do until I'm ready to tell work.

I think New Look, Top Shop, Asos and Next do maternity stuff online. I'm hoping to buy mine from ebay though, as I'm only planning to have one so it won't get worn again.

Madratlady · 19/05/2013 17:16

Hello can I join in please?

I got my BFP on thursday (was expecting a bfn and just wanted to get this month's disappointment out of the way, so I was so surprised when it was positive) and according to due date calculator I'm 4weeks5days and due 21st Jan.

I have an appointment with my GP tomorrow to get my midwife referral.

To be honest it hasn't really sunk in yet!

Sultanajo · 19/05/2013 17:21

enjoying thanks for the tips. I expect when the time comes will have to try online, but in the meantime stretchy trousers and a size up as needed... Poor u working on a sunday!

Sultanajo · 19/05/2013 17:22

Lol MrsH like a bear in hibernation! Welcome to the permanent hangover! Blerghhh!

Sultanajo · 19/05/2013 17:25

Congrats madrat!

book I know what u mean about jinxing. I definitely wont be buying any til I really need it and I am really trying not to let myself get excited and thinking ahead too much, but occasionally temptation to start planning creeps in....Wink

MrsGSR · 19/05/2013 18:08

The new look near us still has a maternity section (although thinking about it alot of it was reduced so maybe it's on it's way out... will have to go back and get some more!) and I bought some jeans with a stretchy band at the top, which are so amazingly comfortable I might keep wearing them for a long time after baby's here! I ordered some more clothes from newlook.com, including a t-shirt with 'bump' in a comic explosion, which I thought was really really cool! My BMI is about 25.5, I'm not looking forward to being told I'm officially overweight at the midwife's appointment!

MrsGSR · 19/05/2013 18:09

All the maternity clothes I bought are locked in a cupboard as I got DH to hid them when I was told I was miscarrying, hopefully after the scan on tuesday I'll be able to get them back out :)

Yonionekanobe · 19/05/2013 18:12

Congratulations Madratlady, MrsVDB, MrsH17 and LST

I'm definitely bigger but am not sure if it's baby, bloating or not doing any exercise for three weeks due to nausea and this blooming cough I've got.

Sultana was it you who said earlier that your DH is beginning to lose sympathy with the sickness? Mine maybe too. He is annoyed as we were meant to go out tonight (take advantage of DD being 'in quarantine' at PILs'!) but I feel too rough Sad

SpecificDreamRabbit · 19/05/2013 18:25

Welcome to all the new ladies with bfp, and yay for your good news MrsG and Pea!

Have had a very family intensive weekend, and still managed to keep my mouth shut about being pregnant... impressed with myself!

I've been browsing maternity stuff online, and not terribly impressed. New Look seems to have an OK range so I might get some stuff from there eventually - but not sure what size to get! I've gained some weight recently, and I'm hoping to lose a bit of it before the baby weight starts going on - the slimming world plan is safe for pregnancy, so that's what I'm doing right now.

Still feeling fairly well, over all - just some minor cramps every now and then, and super sore boobs! Oh, and I can't forget the farting, still no let up on that score Grin

Sultanajo · 19/05/2013 18:40

Yeah mrs gsr that will be great to be able to move forward again!

Well done specific for not spilling the beans!
