Had to find a larger bra today, only 5+5 but already up at least a cup, lookes huge on a hanger but way more comfy Smile
Dreading tomorrow, am travelling up to Manchester from Cornwall, in a minibus, with 9 work colleagues for a work "do". Its black tie and the alcohol will be flowing...eek! Managed to squeeze into a dress, but worried about how to manage the wine that will be flowing on the table. Also not sure how I'll manage to stay awake past 9pm Smile Wish I wasn't going but v v v thankful ms hasn't kicked in...yet, will be just my luck it starts on the journey home on Tues.

Sultanajo · 19/05/2013 18:46

Yoni yes it was me. Last night he did seem to feel bad for me, but considering I could barely move for fear of vomming he would have had to be very cold hearted if he hadnt! However today he said (in a jokey way) how much longer am I gonna have to put up with u feeling rough. Now I know he was joking but I do realise the impact it is having on what we are able to do. So I braved it and said we would go to the cinema. When we got there to my delight they only had front row seats left, so we went to the video shop on the way home instead! Thank god! But I feel as though I had to make the effort to try to go out. I cant believe how ridiculously wiped out I felt from an hours trip round some shops! Shock

welcome to all the newbies with bfps.
I have also got a very bloated belly and am only just 6 weeks but I think that is because I have been eating more than normal.
Before we started ttc I was rather strict with my food as 3 years ago I lost 4 stone and got down to a size 10 and then I was getting married and after having the dress fitting I kinda had to make sure I stayed the same size.
To be honest I was too strict with my food before, but as soon as the wedding was over I started eating more normally (not too piggy but just normal) in the idea that a little bit more weight would probably help me get pg.
That has left me with a slightly larger stomach but I still fit into all my current clothes and it just appears that it expands a lot during the day!!

Anyway I still have hardly any symptoms but yesterday and today I have been very tired.
Also starting to sense the possibility of sickness starting but hoping it holds off for another 2 weeks so I can enjoy my honeymoon.

Sultanajo · 19/05/2013 18:49

Wow carrot thats a bit of a trek! Hopefully everyone on your table will very quickly get pissed and wont notice if u r drinking. Could take yr drink to the toilet and empty some out so it looks like u r drinking it to begin with maybe and then say u r pacing yourself by making every other drink a water?

chocoholicalcoholic · 19/05/2013 18:52

Welcome to all newly pregnant ladies and congratulations! Lots of us now!

I hope everyone has had a good weekend. We've been out both days, eaten lunch out twice with family and am very proud that I managed to eat just over half of each meal, I didn't gag either. This is good. It's amazing what you can do when you have to! Absolutely shattered now though. Found it strange having this secret from people who I'm close to but like it at the same time.

Sultanajo - bit late replying to your 'sweeping the junk mail to one side with your feet' comment but I hear you! Such a chore isn't it, the simplest of things. I have piles of laundry on the stairs which I keep walking past, well, just piles of stuff everywhere really. If I don't summon up the energy soon I've decided it can wait til I'm nesting Grin

Sorry I can't remember now who said about chucking in the shower but that is impressive! What a state we get in! Just be thankful you weren't having a bath...

Maternity clothes wise I'm opting for leggings and dress type tops as I wear those anyway in summer, jeans and trousers - I usually wear my normal ones but instead of fastening the button, loop a hair tie through it and the button hole for extra give.

I hope all of you with nausea and what-not are doing ok. I have actually vommed real vom twice now rather than just watery stuff. It was quite spectacular.

LittlePeaPod · 19/05/2013 18:53

Carrot. What about the old. Wisdom tooth and antibiotics excuse? Worked wonders as one for my excuses at a work thing... Plus when thy all got smashed I snac off. No one noticed.

chocoholicalcoholic · 19/05/2013 18:56

Beat me to it with that suggestion pod! That's what I'm going to say if needed.

sarahleanne · 19/05/2013 19:00

carrot-I'm not far from you ,living in Plymouth and definitely would not fancy that journey !!
on my first child , before I wanted everyone to know I was pregnant I went to a party and people kept buying me Smirnoff ices...I spent the entire night pretending to sip them but kept having to go to the toilet and pour it down...what a waste!! haha. In the end I got fed up and kept buying lemonades and telling people it was archers and lemonade :)

Quick question- When did everyones MS start? im 5 weeks today ,I've had about 3 episodes of what I would call waves of sickness but only lasting a minute and then disappearing. I was really sick with my first 2 pregnancies within days of finding out so this is different this time.I have been physically sick just before i found out but im starting to think it was just a bug.A lot of the websites say sickness kicks in at about 6 weeks???

congratulations to all the new bfp's!!!! :) so exciting....and too everyone who has had good news in the last few days, things seem to be looking up :)

LittlePeaPod · 19/05/2013 19:00

Choccoholic. Ha ha ha... How we are all getting way to good at this.... I have also used the "Not drinking wine as cutting back on calories a glass of white wine is 300 calories so opting for vodka, lime and tonic"... Then ordering a lime and tonic.. That works a treat too. Grin

OP posts:
Penny31 · 19/05/2013 19:04

carrott I found that no one notices if you aren't drinking because they are drunk! Pour a glass of wine at the table and a glass of water. If anyone says anything about you not touching the wine just say you have just filled up your glass again :) no one batted an eyelid with me!
I wine to a do where you got champagne on arrival. I just pretended to sip and then went and poured half down the sink, wandered about with the other half and then when no I e was looking left it on the bar.

LittlePeaPod · 19/05/2013 19:06

Sarah I started feeling odd about 6 weeks but not in the way other ladies feel. It's not that bad. The worst symptoms for me are exhaustion (starts about 9.30am) and pregzilla emotional break downs.. Oh yea and sore boobs. Then in the last few days I have become really funny with food... Really want something then not want it when I get it...... Oh and the really uncomfortable blasting started about week 6 too.

To all the ladies. Has anyone heard from Mummy? I thought she had a scan today. Is she alright? Mummy if you are reading this hoe all is well.

sarahleanne · 19/05/2013 19:10

thanks pea...I know im crazy to want to feel sick, especially when I have 2 kids to look after already and work but I just feel like it would be a reassuring symptom to have. I do have the exhaustion and mega sore boobs though so hopefully little bean is ok :)

MrsAVB · 19/05/2013 19:10

Welcome and congrats dawn, bikey, allycat, lst, mrsvdb, mrsh17 beginning to think I need a more exciting nn, and madrat.
penny sorry to hear about your equally awful vomming in the shower. The vomming and constant nausea is really getting to me. I'm really hoping that the 2nd trimester "bloom" isn't a trick and that we really will feel better then . Love to everyone who's feeling and/ or being sick.
sultana you have given me cottage pie cravings... Maybe i will make one tomorrow... Although probably by then I'll fancy something else.
medusa so exciting you got to hear a heartbeat, yay!
yoni FX for immunity...and hoping you're making the most of having the house to yourself.
It's DHs birthday this week so have been trawling the shops for ideas. I ended up going into town as there were a few shops I wanted to go to that were only all in one place there. The west end on a Saturday gives me the RAGE! Bloody tourists... Why can't they use the tube and walk on the pavement like normal people! Wink. And to think people say Londoners are unfriendly Grin. And oh... My biggest bugbear... People who work in shops who are rude, disinterested and expect you to get out their way rather than vice versa. I may have to stick to t'internet for shopping until the so called bloom. I am getting quite adept at vomming in public toilets though Sad
I am starting to worry about clothes too. Not yet, as I've actually lost weight so far, but everything I have for work needs to be smart, and is fitted so am worried about growing out of things as soon as I start to show.
Sorry for long post... Xxx

MrsAVB · 19/05/2013 19:15

Ps, sarah, my nausea started around week 4, then actual vomming around week 5 I think. I'll be 7 weeks tomorrow. X

sarahleanne · 19/05/2013 19:19

ohhh im the only one not being sick lol thanks mrsavb xx

carrotcakecupcake · 19/05/2013 19:21

Thanks for the tips, I think people notice more if you're not drinking anything, rather than if you have a drink that you aren't drinking (does that make sense...). Planning on watering as many pot plants as I can findSmile Also going to try and get the bartender on side and ask for some 'virgin' vodka tonics. If those fail I migt say that drinking the night before gives me really bad car sickness!

chocoholicalcoholic · 19/05/2013 19:22

Pod - great idea with the vodka and lime too!

Mrs AVB - yes, the second trimester is a lot more enjoyable. It's amazing how quickly you actually forget how sick you felt/were once you feel fine again. It is so much easier as you feel so much better and people are finding out you're pregnant so no more hiding it and disguising nausea etc.

Madratlady · 19/05/2013 19:23

I've just started feeling a little queasy this evening but I'm hoping I can get a couple of weeks without vomming to get lots of shifts in (agency worker, no pay if I don't work) so I can take it easy if I need to.

I'm also feeling ridiculously teary tonight - for some reason that fact that we need to buy a lawnmower and cut the grass seems like the end of the world. The garden is bad but not that bad Confused. I'm trying to keep my hormonal crazyness to myself though because I doubt DH will cope well with it.

I just want to fast forward to week 12 and be able to tell people, although if I am nearly 5 weeks as the due date calculator said then it's only 7 weeks till I can!

MrsAVB · 19/05/2013 19:25

Sorry sarah didn't mean to make you worry! There are lots of ladies on here not being sick... Xxx

Yonionekanobe · 19/05/2013 19:45

sarah not even a wave of sickness with DD so you may be one of the lucky ones!

sultana inspired by your cinema non-experience I checked our cinema, no aisle seats, which is a no no for DH as he is tall so I 'selflessly' have sent him out for a beer with a couple of his mates!

carrot you poor thing, that doesn't sound like fun at all. Some great ideas for alcohol avoidance here though!

MrsGSR · 19/05/2013 19:46

I haven't felt sick yet! I mentioned before that there is a theory that if your pregnant with a boy your less likely to get morning sickness. My MIL had 3 boys and never had any sickness, my mum had 2 girls and was very sick all the way through!

When I went to the pregnancy unit for the blood tests last week we saw a sign on the door saying they are no longer offering gender recognition at scans, does that mean I'll have to get a private scan to find out if it's a boy or girl?

LittlePeaPod · 19/05/2013 19:49

Thanks Chooco.

MrsGSR sounds like it..why don't you ask your MW, she should know.

OP posts:
sarahleanne · 19/05/2013 19:56

haha its ok mrsavb u didn't make me worry :)
yoni thanks for the reassurance, hopeully im one of the lucky ones!! fingers crossed!

omg mrsgsr ive never heard of the units saying they are not offering gender recognition anymore...how strange (and annoying if u did want to find out).

Yonionekanobe · 19/05/2013 19:56

I've heard that some hospitals have stopped gender recognition because of the pressure some women are under in some cultures to have boys. Heartbreaking stories out there Sad

LittlePeaPod · 19/05/2013 20:01

OMG Ladies. Just been having a noses and there is a February thread that's been set up already.... [Shock] This train is really moving....
