Those whose babies are measuring on 90th centile is that with the scan growth measurements or with the MW bump measurements?

Cos I'm measuring 38weeks, two weeks ahead, MW estimates a 'good size baby', whereas the hospital growth scan (which took ages) puts baby at a slightly under 50th centile and predicts baby will be on or under 7lb. Given dc1 was predicted by MW to be 8-9lb and arrived at 42+2 weighing under 7lb I have no idea what size babygro's to pack!

Steffanoid · 14/05/2013 22:51

mines both, they're measuring along the same curve, I like consistency and have apparently got a huge baby but one that stays on the lines, I go alternate to the me and hospital although had a referral for a scan 2 weeks ago due to lack of movements and another scan rather than fundal tomorrow, im wondering just how much more he's grown at this rate he might not even fit into the up to 10lb clothes!

redwellybluewelly · 14/05/2013 23:16

See your baby is clearly cooperating!

Mine seems destined to be awkward, I'm going with the scan measurements I think.

grainmum · 15/05/2013 07:27

good morning ladies! Pram just arrived, furniture yesterday...eek!

SunnyL · 15/05/2013 07:28

Morning.

Has anyone else noticed their movements getting more muffled? Baby is clearly moving but its much less obvious i.e. I havent clutched my tummy and called baby a 'cheeky bugger' in at least 5 days. I keep getting myself in a tizz because i think baby isnt moving - it is its just less obvious as i'm used to being a punch bag rather than having a wriggly eel in there.

ginauk84 · 15/05/2013 07:29

dontmindifido the annual leave was in response to arlandrias post. I know my HR policies and am tagging this years left over annual leave onto the end of my maternity, that way I have over a year off - hoorah! The thought of going back after a year is scary though - will have to relearn my job I think!

Littlemissexpecting · 15/05/2013 07:41

Sunny I have read that it is to be expected. The number of movements shouldn't reduce but they shouldn't be as strong. Not happening here though lo still enjoys hurting me.

MrsBri · 15/05/2013 07:41

Sunny, some of Baby B's movements can only be seen not felt now, which is odd. I'll wonder why there's no movement, look down and my belly is all over the place!

Other times he's still going a bit mental with big turns and pushing. As he loves his feet being tickled we get those thrust at us loads so we oblige! We can sometimes play for an hour or so, which I love.

But yes, in the main the movements are definitely more muffled and wriggly.

Littlemissexpecting · 15/05/2013 07:41

Grain how exciting! We get ours this weekend!

Steffanoid · 15/05/2013 10:01

just back from my 36 week ultrasound growth scan, can see baby punching away but can't feel it which is odd, caught a good profile of him which was lovely, current est weight of 8lb 14oz which is fucking huge a bit big, consultant kinda went yeah you're not gonna have problems having this baby, I know you're trying to reassure me but smirking when you say that makes you look sadistic Angry

maisiebeem · 15/05/2013 10:08

Oh Gosh Steff - that is big for 36 weeks, I had mine yesterday, predicted weight was 6lb 8oz! so I know I have a mini one on the way!Just wondering (we may have already talked about this) what are people doing about a Baby Monitor? I haven't found the reviews I've read so far to be that useful, they are sooo mixed!
Should I get one with a video? motion sensor thing? so many options!
Advice please ladies!

MrsBri · 15/05/2013 10:18

Steff, my niece was that weight at 37 weeks when she was delivered by ELCS. Scans have been known to be wrong though. Hopefully your little one will be smaller than the estimates :-)

That is exciting about your pram, grain. Ours comes next Tuesday. I've surprised myself by saying I don't want it in the house. Odd, as I'm really not superstitious! It's being delivered to the in laws' house anyway, so we will just retrieve the car seat and mattress and collect the pram later!

Steffanoid · 15/05/2013 10:40

here's hoping he is around that weight at birth, that I can cope with, glad this is a bit more accurate than the fundal measurement cause thats showing about 500g more today, he does look rather long, im still doubtful im going to get to term, but knowing my luck I'll be sat here at 40+10 cursing the.little huge man

Hawkmoth · 15/05/2013 10:44

I had a late growth scan with DS. It was 25% out. They told me eight pound odd, he was six pound summat! But he did have very long legs and comedy big feet!

SunnyL · 15/05/2013 10:47

Holy moly Steffanoid. Suprised you can still walk with that little monster inside of you!

We get our pram on Monday - sometime between 8am and 8pm and they can't tell me when in that time slot it might come. I hope it comes earlier as I'll have a mental dog on my hands if I can't get out during the day. I'm also a bit superstitious - we have agreed it can sit in the garage until baby comes although I may have to practice putting the damn thing together a few times.

Wrt baby monitors we ended up getting video because the cost of them was practically the same as the standard audio ones. We've actually got one with 2 video cameras so contemplating setting one up over the dogs bed too so we can see when she is misbehaving or has stolen all of baby's toys.

Littlemissexpecting · 15/05/2013 11:20

Maisie mothercare have some on offer atm.
We went for the TD350 (I think) by Tomy. Recommended by a couple of friends. Not got video but meant to have great sound quality and has a room thermometer which was important for me.
I have a few friends that went for one with the mat underneath baby. One friend swears by it but most of my friends said it caused them lots of unnecessary stress and worry.

pinkbear82 · 15/05/2013 11:41

morning ladies - my buggy arrived last week. a very excited granddad to be helped me put it together and gave it his seal of approval! it's now in the garage - with a cover over it to keep it clean, said granddad was very particular about this. I find every time I see it I just want to take it out, figure probably best with baby actually in would prevent the neighbours talking more than they are already! Wink

Baby monitor was something I'd put in dp care.... so now I think I'm going for the bt one that has the light show, lullabies and room temperature feature. seems to save the potential for buying lots of separate things that no doubt we'd get caught up with and still has the useful feature of being able to hear bubs. if that makes sense. Mother care has some money off it at the moment too!

I've just finished hovering, Sat on the sofa with a drink to do this and have just turned round to see stupid dog has brought in a clump of wood and is making a huge mess..... can I sell Dogs on eBay?!

RueDeWakening · 15/05/2013 11:43

Blimey Steff yours is giving my LO a run for his money! Grin My growth scan at 36+2 was estimating over 8lbs, but not quite that much.

Mind you, DD was estimated at "no bigger than 8lbs at birth" in her final growth scan, she turned up at 9lbs 8oz! I'm fairly confident they're just guessing to keep us entertained Wink

Been and bought some newborn babygros and crib sheets this morning, so just need to work up enough energy to actually finish packing my bag before I go in to hospital tonight... Bought loads of snack food too, hope the hospital don't get offended by it all Grin

learnermummy · 15/05/2013 11:58

Pinkbear we had the BT monitor previously and it was great. Honestly though you don't need the lullabies etc, the basic model is fine. The room thermometer was never particularly accurate and we never used the music on it. Ours didn't have a light show.

Good luck Rue. Must go and buy some crib sheets myself.

Olimoss · 15/05/2013 12:16

We got the Angelcare monitor - it has a sensor thing you can use if you want (we are not convinced it will be used) and no video but came recommended (by friends ans also in Which) and has the room temp thingy too.

Didn't know a thing about not keeping the pram in the house, ours has been sat in the dining room for th last two weeks! Oh well. Shall keep on with the zen, pragmatic approach have been trying to achieve so far and see how it goes, I guess!

We had supper with our NCT group last night, was really nice, only one baby so far of 8.....but a lot due from now and over next two weeks so guess a boom is on way.

At last scan 2 weeks ago we were told estimated birth weight of 7.5-8lbs....shall soon see, I guess!

Sore bump continues, sadly. Things v uncomfortable but only 2 weeks to go, am sure can make it. It's just weirdly numb from belly button down....do you think I should ask the ,idwofe about it when I see her on Friday?

Last day in office tomorrow - will be weird, as have been working without stop since I was 14.5yrs, (holidays excepted) and as a self-employed person I don't know what I'll be doing next....

Right, gotta run, need to escape the house before the cleaner arrives. Like someone said earlier, I still get embarrassed (even tho she's amazing and lovely and I'd marry her in a second) to be here when she's working. And I heartily recommend you get a cleaner in, even if only for a couple months or so - you've no idea what kind of birth, baby or recovery you'll have and not having to worry about hoovering, dusting and scrubbing the dunny bowl will deffo be a load off.

Have aces day, all!

redwellybluewelly · 15/05/2013 12:36

I left the choosing of the monitor up to DH last time and ended up with an all singing all dancing BT monitor. Never used any of the extra functions at all!

We're still hoping to get a video monitor with split screen to watch both children, but DH hasn;t found the deal of the century yet Hmm

Must be something in the air - I bought more crib sheets yesterday! I've asked DH to do the ironing of all the muslins and cot/crib/pram sheets - fortnight later still waiting! I keep ironing bump when I try - plus it was written into our marriage contract HE irons!

Steffanoid · 15/05/2013 14:26

very crampy this afternoon Sad have figured out that if I put pressure om the right side of my bump where his back is then I can move the baby across, it's damn freaky!

redwellybluewelly · 15/05/2013 15:39

Mexican wave baby!

I have finally packed my hospital bag, in terms of urgent admission. I'll finish it off and the car boot bag as and when I finish work. My day off to get 'everything' done hit a brick wall earlier after I left my purse at home. Thankfully I checked before I filled up with petrol!

Hope you're ok Sam and Rue that you're cool calm and collected!

RueDeWakening · 15/05/2013 16:28

Don't know about cool calm and collected! More like ostrich syndrome, 5 hours before I have to be at the hospital and my bag still isn't packed...

In fact I've still not decided which bag I'm taking...

it'll be fiiiiiiine!

pinkbear82 · 15/05/2013 16:45

hahaha Rue I'd so have been the same as you if I hadn't been forced into packing! best of luck and look forward to updates as and when.

I'm still waiting for negotiations with the stork on when is convenient for delivery. they are clearly busy and communication is hard.

good tips on baby monitor - wiat a few other options.

just had dp girls round with the in-laws for an after school visit. they've reassured me bump hasn't got massive as they thought I would be 'well big' considering at about 23 week's they told me I looked like Winnie the pooh I'm taking this as a good sign!! Smile

(have a feeling this may have an odd look to the post phone went a bit crazy - apologies if that's the case)
