Thanks all for confirming that rock-bump is prob BH...weird! I'll keep an eye out for it stretching round the small of my back.

ANZAC bikkies are things of Aussie legend and tradition, originally cooked to send to soldiers at the front in WW1. They're basically rolled/porridge oats 1 cup, plain flour 1 cup, light brown sugar 1 cup (I use a bit less), dedicated coconut 1/2 cup. Mix all that together in a bowl.

Then in a small saucepan melt 125g butter and 2 good tablespoons of golden syrup and 1 tablespoon of water, when melted stir in 1/2 teaspoon bicarb soda. It'll foam up v slightly...

Mix melted stuff through dry stuff. Roll into balls maybe ping pong size and place on a lined baking tray with space between, as they will spread.

Into preheated oven at GasMark 4 / 140C for 15-20 mins. When you take them out let them cool for a few mins on the tray before transferring to a wire rack. They'll flatten out as they cool & you should end up with a thinnish biscuit, crunchy outside and chewy inside. V simple but v moreish.

I'd link to my blog but although my name isn't on it I have occasionally shown my face on there, so....!

Let me know if you make them and how it goes.

Olimoss · 17/05/2013 16:55

Welcome rrreow!

Well done Sarah, you've definitely done the right thing there with the bikkies!

Olimoss · 17/05/2013 16:56

Bloody iPad!

Although dedicated coconut sounds an interesting ingredient, I'd recommend you stick to DESSICATED coconut if making Anzacs.

AlohaMama · 17/05/2013 16:58

Just woken up, lying in bed and starving. And now I want to make some. I can't get golden syrup here, do you think honey would work?

Welcome rrreow!

Suppose I'd better get up - I can smell ds' poopy nappy from here...

AlohaMama · 17/05/2013 17:00

I like dedicated coconut, it's like it cares about you and is committed to your baking success.

rrreow · 17/05/2013 17:05

Oh wow Olimoss they sound amazing! I would actually make some right now if I had all the ingredients (I almost do actually.. just don't have any butter).

Olimoss · 17/05/2013 17:11

I sometimes substitute a bit of the golden syrup for treacle, richens things up a bit. Honey might work, no harm in giving it a shot I guess, as long as you love honey flavour!

Good old dedicated coconut. Under-rated stuff.

ginauk84 · 17/05/2013 17:29

dontmindifido I too am right at the top end of weight gain. Am only 5ft2 and was 8st7 pre pregnancy now 11st5. So it's not that am not eating enough either.

pink I sleep on my right, can't sleep on my left as my left side of my pelvis hurts to much.

We're going to a nice local restaurant for dinner so that should be good. Although at the moment would rather have a McDonald's American burger - love that nacho one they're doing this week!!

DontmindifIdo · 17/05/2013 17:31

why of why did you have to put the idea of a macDonalds in my head? Honestly, I've got slow cooked pork belly in the oven to have with mash and now I want a dirty burger and fries...

Midwife friend has just text me to say not to worry.

rrreow · 17/05/2013 17:46

DH has just vetoed McD's as he's been out all day (we work from home) and doesn't want to go out again Sad Might have to put on a pouty face and play the pregnancy card...

Slow cooked pork belly sounds yum though!

Steffanoid · 17/05/2013 18:02

im being taken to the pub foe dinner by oh and his brother and friend as tge rest of tge weekend is being spent playing computer games cause they're geeks oh suggested I might make them a huge meal, he backtracked on that one rather quickly and said actually well go round tge corner to the pub Grin
although nacho burger sounds good, last weeks one, tge Chicago one was really spicy!

learnermummy · 17/05/2013 18:08

Welcome rrreow! I have my homebirth assesment next week, due 19th June. Haven't ordered my pool yet though.

Oli thouse do sound fab, not sure i have any dessicated coconut (or dedicated Grin) so will add to the list!

Aloha - no golden syrup? what a crime!

Sarah hope you enjoyed that biscuit Smile.

AlohaMama · 17/05/2013 18:18

learner - one of the many reasons for moving back to England. That, and decent tea, and chocolate and biscuits and beer. And proper chips.

AmIGoingMad · 17/05/2013 19:09

All very good reasons aloha!Grin

Welcome rreow!

Sarah- so glad someone else is happy to do crazy biscuit runs- sometimes it just has to be done! And they sound lovely!

No bh here. Just a very low laying baby! I really can't wait to finish work- it's driving me mad at the moment and am so happy it's the weekend! Have assessment of dept next week too- the joys!

For you legal people- am I right in thinking that pregnancy related illness shouldn't be counted on my sickness record? Or is it ok for them to have it there as long as they highlight that its pregnancy related?

On a nicer topic- Has anyone got lovely plans for the weekend? I'm looking for inspiration!

Dontmind- don't worry. I'm sure it'll just be a great opportunity to have another look at little one!

SunnyL · 17/05/2013 19:24

We've just ordered a Chinese takeway to sit in the garden with.

Tomorrow is meant to be a BBQ for DH's birthday but think its going to piss it down so may have to revise our plans.

Yay for maternity leave though!

Steffanoid · 17/05/2013 19:26

ami im at a farmers market in the morning selling my mums craft stuff with her business, then got a 4hr tour of the labour ward and something else to do with babies... not really sure how they're planning on making it last 4 hours Hmm

pinkapples · 17/05/2013 19:41

Oh my god! I miss so much I'm not on maternity leave so have loads to catch up! on the geographic tongue thing it's like white circles and marks on your tongue very sore if you eat the wrong food or something that starts it off! Nightmare haven't heard of the iron thing but will definitely look it up and see... I haven't taken my pregnacare in a couple of months since my sickness thing so may be that mind you with only 3.5 weeks to go don't know if there's much point

MrsBri · 17/05/2013 19:55

Hi rreow :-)

AmI, yes you're right about the sickness. If it is pregnancy related it isn't to be counted on your sickness record, i.e. for discipline / redundancy purposes.

Aloha, so many good reasons to come back here!

Oli, the biccies sound ace. I've everything except that favourite ingredient, dedicated coconut!! ;-p

Sarah, did the third biscuit survive?!

And hurrah for Sunny and anyone else starting mat leave now! :-)

AmIGoingMad · 17/05/2013 19:58

Mmm Chinese. That sounds so good! Especially after just had fish fingers and chips with DS for my dinner!

Stef- that sounds like a nice Saturday! I'm sure there'll also be lots of yummy stuff to try and to buy at farmers market- yum!

Pinkapples I know what you mean about the catch up- it took me ages!

AmIGoingMad · 17/05/2013 20:02

X post- thanks mrsbri. That's what I thought. I was told they were thinking about warning but decided against it. I couldn't work out how they could think about it with me being off with antenatal depression, having early scan when I had a bleed, dizziness and white lights due to blood pressure and evil flu- not all at once of course, separate instances of illness. I think they were just on a power trip- that's the general tendency!

learnermummy · 17/05/2013 20:34

Sunny is it not freezing with you? Couldn't have sat outside for lunch here let alone dinner!

Am really getting fed up with this weather, my lovely summery maternity wear is not going to get a look in at this rate!

pinkapples · 17/05/2013 20:59

Have a quick one about pain as not sure and it hasn't affected me until just now when I tried to get out the bath the crease between my upper thigh and body just really hurt! Now every time I sit down its gone and when I go to get up its there again ouchy Confused

Oh and my second question as not sure on this either is what do hiccups feel like? I thought she was just trying to aggravate me by kicking constantly but it is constant for like 2/3 mins then goes again could it be baby with the hiccups??

MrsBri · 17/05/2013 21:06

Ouch, pink, I feel your pain as Baby B is currently shoving bloody hard in that crease. Not sure what causes general pain there though :-/

Hiccups feel a bit like a heartbeat. If your baby is head down you'll feel them in your bits / low down somewhere!

arlandria666 · 17/05/2013 21:21

Midwife came this afternoon and booked me back in maternity assessment tomorrow for my blood pressure and headaches feel like i live there at the moment! I took an appointment at 8 in the morning as its my baby shower in the afternoon hope they don't keep me in too long :-(
I don't feel any different from when i have been before but would never forgive myself if i didn't go and something was wrong :-(
Better set my alarm for morning haven't been out of bed before 9 since finishing work last Friday!

SunnyL · 17/05/2013 21:26

Learner it's been beautiful today. Don't be jealous though - it's meant to piss it down tomorrow.

I've eaten my Chinese now but have a hankering for iced biscuits - I blame you lot!!
