Can't look back to see names but

How exciting 34 our first 20 week scan!!! Hope all goes well for u xx

littleducks glad dd's wrist isn't as bad as u suspected xx

Can't remember who said your go can prescribe migraine tablets for pregnant ladies but I am definitely definitely going to look into that! So thank you :-)

Is anyone on iron tablets? I went to bed at 8pm yesterday cos literally felt so rediculously exhausted and have already had a nap tidy I thought I was gunna fall asleep driving at lunch time it was horrible, just wondering how likely anaemia is at 17 weeks?

Also constipation? Anyone got any tips? I've had the completely opposite problem up until 2 days ago and tbh I think I prefer to be running for the toilet instead of being stuck there for ages trying to go cx

Sounds as though a few of you have picked up some bargains too! Wish I knew some people who had recently had babies so I could have some of their old bits, but unfortunately eBay is my only source of cheap second hand baby stuff Smile

littleducks I am glad that your DD's wrist is ok!

Natalieand I am on a prenatal vitamin that includes the RDA of iron. My blood tests have all been fine (19 weeks today), but up until this week I was absolutely exhausted most days. Having said that I have just had a lunch time nap. As for constipation; the best advice that I read was to massage my stomach in a clockwise direction when lying down. Fortunately that is another thing that seems to have passed this week, so fingers crossed it will go for you soon too! The problem is that taking iron supplements will only make the constipation worse.

Good luck 34pinkladyapple - looking forward to hearing how you get on!

Slippysnow · 08/05/2013 15:13

natalie my doctor put me on iron tablets 200mg 3 x A day. I kept getting head rush and had slightly low blood pressure (don't know how much that counts). It seems a lot to take per day but I almost blacked out the other day so he told me to take them. I'm waiting on blood results so will let you know. Also they make your poo turn black!!!! And I mean Black.

takingachance · 08/05/2013 15:24

flyer - yes I am the helicopter pilot - the H+S assessment was fun - I think the assessor was horrified that I would be flying whilst pregnant!

34pinkladyapple - good luck! I can't wait for my scan to find out what flavour we are havingSmile

roofio87 · 08/05/2013 15:29

I haven't had an constipation, but have developed a craving for plums and after eating so many yesterday that they alone included my entire days worth of fibre I've definitely had no problems going today!!! oh well, there are worse cravings I could have!!

roxvox · 08/05/2013 15:35

roofio everything that I am craving is bad for me... I would love to crave plums, even if they do make the next day a tad eventful! Right now I would really like a KFC burger. I don't think it's necessarily a 'craving' asuch as I cannot think what nutrients baby needs from this, but it's all I am thinking about!

Flyer747 · 08/05/2013 16:31

I wish I had fruit cravings...I've just wolfed down a boost and two cadburys caramels! Fat Pig

roofio87 · 08/05/2013 16:35

don't mistake me, as well as more plums I've also eaten a pan au chocolate, a 5 finger kitkat and a crunch bar between meals so far today!!!Grin

roxvox · 08/05/2013 17:04

Ok, that made me feel a bit better Smile I am quite enjoying Nutella on toast at the minute. Now trying to decide what to have for tea to distract me from taking the half hour drive to KFC.

TheFalconsmistress · 08/05/2013 17:11

I am having so much food today too, so hungry Grin

Good luck for scan 34

Sephy · 08/05/2013 17:21

To celebrate a good 16 week appointment (where I heard heartbeat at 144 - does that "mean" girl? - and booked nhs antenatal class in July(!)) I just bought and ate a McDonalds cheeseburger, fries and banana milkshake. Happy to be among similarly greedy friends!

ananikifo · 08/05/2013 17:25

I craved KFC yesterday and DH bought me a boneless banquet. This week I am just uncontrollably starving. I think my baby must need calories, if we're assuming cravings indicate your deficiencies.

This morning I checked my what to expect app and it said at 16 weeks baby is the size of a turnip. My head has been full of Blackadder jokes all day. Grin

Wickedgirl · 08/05/2013 17:31

There must be something in a KFC.......I have asked DH to pick one up for me. Grin

natalie I was anaemic beforemfallingnpregnant so i was on iron tablets right from the beginning. i just ate lots of fruit and drank lots of water to help with the blockage. Unfortunately the fruit made me sick (morning sickness). I don't think they made me feel less tired either.

roxvox · 08/05/2013 17:39

According to one of my apps, my baby is 15cm from head to bottom today (19 weeks), and then it says 'to put that to scale it is about the size of a large tomato'. Now, I don't know much about tomatoes, but I have never seen a 15cm one!

roxvox · 08/05/2013 17:40

Right, if you're all having burgers then I might have to just do the same to get it out of my system. I'll call it an early birthday present (which I will promptly forget come my birthday on Friday when I am chowing down on a McDonald's breakfast).

Shirehobbit · 08/05/2013 17:44

Anyone like to explain why I'm now craving McDonalds? Hmmm?

I wonder if it'll take much to convince DH that it's a good idea.... Grin

Haylebop12 · 08/05/2013 17:52

Meatballs for tea here but have to wait for dh to get back which could be 9:30pm so I've stuck some bhajis and samosas in to keep me going Smile

Also, I've never seen a 15cm tomato either. My app says a sweet potato at 17 weeks.

roofio87 · 08/05/2013 17:55

Haha these apps are funny, hoe has a baby gone from sweet potato to tomato in 2 weeks? mine are all in fruits and veg but one week it was randomly the size of a prawn!!

pinkbuttons · 08/05/2013 17:58

Thankyou ladies also now craving mcdonalds to the point am actually considering the 40 minute return walk...
my app says baby is the size of a bell pepper at 18 weeks. 15cm tomato is huge!!

roxvox · 08/05/2013 18:01

My 'what to expect' app does say that baby is the size of a mango, but it was the babycenter app that says 15cm - size of a tomato.
Ah, I remember the sweet potato one haylebop! That one did make me laugh because I think you'd struggle to find 2 sweet potatoes the same size!

Sorry shirehobbit Blush

littleducks · 08/05/2013 18:09

KFC you guys say, hmm I could fancy a KFC Grin. I have spent the past two days eating scones, jam and clotted cream Wink.

My kids like to hear the baby in terms of fruit updates and I agree its a bit confusing, apparently it was the size if an avocado weeks ago then seemed to go down in size to a smaller fruit before becoming mango sized.

Haylebop12 · 08/05/2013 18:12

I've just read the description on the babycenter app, maybe tomatoes are bigger in USA?! Grin

Flyer747 · 08/05/2013 18:14

You bad bad people I'm just about to get into my car and drive to KFC all I can think of is their chicken and a big tub of that dirty gravy they serve all over my chips!!!

Flyer747 · 08/05/2013 18:18

Haylebob if it's an American tomato then yes they are massive and Genetically modified in my opinion!
