Forgot to say I saw gorgeous baby grow in next that sounds similar natalie was nearly my first buy for this baby and then decided to wait until 20 week scan. Feeling strangely superstisious which im not normally at all.

FeministInTraining · 06/05/2013 14:11

I like Louie too, prefer the look of Louis and think that's how it is 'supposed' to be spelt but agree that people would pronounce the s and it would annoy me!

DP is liking Amelia. My mum said it makes her think of a precocious little girl, I quite like it- but saw it was number 1 in a common name list Hmm
Don't fancy her being Amelia 'M'. Should I let that put me off? I guess it might just be popular in another area... I live in south London, not sure there are many Amelias around... Still assuming she's a she, but we have Isaac for a boy Grin

Haylebop12 · 06/05/2013 14:23

feminist how strange... My dd is Amelia and at the moment Isaac is our boy front runner!! Dd is Amelia Caitlyn and the only one in her class.

Only issues with Harriet that I'm ignoring is, Hattie is a no go, my aunties springer spaniel was called Hattie and we grew up with her pretty much. Also my nephew is Harry! However we don't really shorten dd's name so know I wouldn't mind keep using the full name.

Haylebop12 · 06/05/2013 14:27

Also I think peo

Haylebop12 · 06/05/2013 14:32

Ole alway have ideas of what a name means to them. Amelia always made me think pink Girly princess until I had my tomboy! A hoods personality I believe is down to the environment and your thoughts about a name can change Smile

MotherOfNations · 06/05/2013 14:44

Is anyone else feeling really breathless. I'm constantly aware that I don't seem to be getting enough air into my lungs and keep having to take big deep breaths which was fine until I done it as I walked into the kitchen to talk to Dp and he had just done the stinkiest fart ever and I breathed it right into my my lungs.
I keep yawning too. I think that's my body trying to get some oxygen in.
I suppose it's only going to get worse when she gets bigger and start squishing my lungs.

GTbaby · 06/05/2013 14:45

Hello. Alot of PMs for FB today. Will try get through a few now :)
It's so hard on I pad. N laptop is across the room n I still can't walk with out crutches. Which reminds me I need to google "prevent hands hurting when using crutches" lol

GTbaby · 06/05/2013 14:55

Ok change of plan. Some of you have common names and high security settings(well done, I should really change mine)

Any new requests, PM me. Ill send you my FB details as my name is not common. N also I'm searchable. Ill then add u to the group.

Shirehobbit · 06/05/2013 15:42

MoN I've been noticing the breathlessness too. It's a bit preturbing.

Amelia has been fairly common amongst the girls I've taught up here, Feministintraining

Sorry you're still suffering, GT. Has there been any improvement?
As for sore hands, DH was on crutches for the best part of a year, after surgery. He found my cycling gloves helped as they were padded around the palms and thumb. Decathlon do some inexpensive fingerless ones.

chickieno1 · 06/05/2013 15:43

Hi everyone. Haven't been on for a while, have been feeling a bit down recently but better now. I have been checking in though and was soooo happy to hear all the good news esp for mon, soup queen and flyer . Congratulations on the boys natalie and umlauf

How do I pm to join FB group......

Will catch up properly later

Slippysnow · 06/05/2013 15:48

femenist I like the name Amelia (it's not on our list though), I live in south east London and its quite popular here to be honest, if its not Amelia it's a variation eg. Amelie, Mia, Maya, Millie etc. I used to work in a nursery, you would hear alot of names similar across the classes but within a class there was no 2 Amelia's. Many children had names that were from their parents/grandparents cultures too so that diversifies the name pool :) Isaac is also very popular but I like that name too.

Claphammama · 06/05/2013 17:13

Hi girls. Day two in Istanbul and I absolutely love it! It's such an amazing and eclectic place. Obviously BA tried to ruin it by delivering my suitcase the day after our arrival but luckily got my clean clothes this morning as I woke up. What a nightmare though. Not even an apology, not even an emergency toothbrush to compensate...

Natalie I love the name Louis! and feminist I love Amelie too but must say there are lot of them in my DS's school. Seems pretty popular these days. DP refuses to discuss names until we know the sex :-( sigh

slowjogs I had my DS in Kingston and they were amazing. They have a really good maternity ward. I'm in South London now so going to Guy & St Thomas this time. Anyone else signed up there?

My terrible cold is still here but easing off. My voice is gradually coming back. Sightseeing when pregnant was OK until about an hour ago when I collapsed and thought my feet and legs were going to explode. I'm allowed 30min break and rest apparently before DP is planning to drag me out again in search for beer and food... I already used my allowance of one glass of wine per week last Friday... damn

FeministInTraining · 06/05/2013 17:50

Thanks Haylebop I'm sure the association thing would change when my mum sees what a delightful un-precocious little girl she is Hmm
Funny that we have similar (great) taste in names- am now wondering if you mentioned Amelia before and that's when I said it to DP- I'm sure I was on mumsnet at the time!

Slippy I think you're probably right. I did my teacher training in Deptford so have a distorted idea of popular names- very diverse name pool! But now Amelia is the only name DP actually likes- he has changed his mind about Isaac- apparently he only ever said it was 'ok'. Same thing that happened to Savannah. Grrr I want a not so short shortlist!!

claphammama glad you're enjoying yourself despite late suitcase and exploding legs. And last Friday was last week no? It's Monday today, new wine allowance?? Wink

Slippysnow · 06/05/2013 17:55

Istanbul is gorgeous, very jealous!! Top tip they don't serve alcohol near the mosques I can't remember the distance they're permitted to serve it from so tell your dp not to bother going to close if he wants a beer( still great food in the restaurants). Also avoid the heat by going underground to the Cistern it's really impressive. I'm also in st Thomas'

Slowjogs · 06/05/2013 18:23

claphammama Glad to hear another good report on Kingston Smile Enjoy Istanbul- make sure you get to the blue mosque and grand bazaar. Very jealous!

Tarlia · 06/05/2013 18:38

Clapham mine is being the same re names grrr. 1 week tomorrow!! Have a fab trip :)

Shootingstarsandcomets · 06/05/2013 18:56

Oh I've gone green that you are in Istanbul clapham! Have a fab time.
What a gorgeous day it's been, ds has enjoyed his first BBQ! Shattered now though after a whole day of no napping! Pimms was deeeeeelicious!
mon not breathless yet but I was last time until ds turned. When his head was up under my ribs I felt like I couldn't eat or breathe and then he flipped upside down and it was better again- was much further along now so maybe yours is a different reason.
Gt I have finally found you- spelling your name wrong, I'm such an idiot!

CocktailSausage · 06/05/2013 19:14

Hi,

I have PM'd you GT.

I haven't posted that I'm pregnant on FB yet. I didn't with Ds until he was born.

I'm also at the Whittington (for now) Bronze and Psuedo.
I might transfer though as we've moved recently, but the consultant has asked if I would consider staying with them. Hmm it is only a difference of 10 miles but we don't drive and dh would have difficulty getting there.

Ds wasn't named until I had to do it officially. I'm going to have great difficulty if it's another boy. I like names that aren't too popular plus there are rules as dh's surname is very long Confused

PseudoBadger · 06/05/2013 19:52

I missed your post Bronzemoth sorry! They certainly have revamped extensively since I had DS in Jan 2011.
Can I ask who your consultant is cocktail - I'm meeting mine on Thursday :)
I live in Finchley so it a bit of a trek but worth it IMO

CocktailSausage · 06/05/2013 20:02

My consultants name is Meg Wilson.
I will next see her when I'm 34 weeks to discuss an elc

There was a medical student at my last appointment. He seemed slightly clueless as he palpated my abdomen for my fundus Grin Poor boy!

PseudoBadger · 06/05/2013 20:05

There was a student there when I had a sweep with DS - he was certainly embarrassed!

roofio87 · 06/05/2013 20:12

there was a student doctor there when I was diagnosed with cancer, I felt so sorry for him and ended up asking him if he was ok, Haha Grin

OrangeBlossom2 · 06/05/2013 20:15

Had a lovely day walking on Wimbledon common. Managed four miles then was definitely time for pub lunch! Busy afternoon and evening planting in the garden. All the veg now in for the year plus some edible flowers and reseeded the patchy bits of our lawn again which we are trying to get going before we have a toddler (long term planning!)

Did some buggy spotting in Wmbledon. Saw lots of people with an Icandy or a three wheeled one.

Thanks again GT baby for sorting out Facebook.

Smitten1981 · 06/05/2013 20:21

We had a BBQ today and I'm so full I can barely move! Busy week this week, 16 week check on Thursday and gender scan Saturday. Thank God this week is a short one!

There's a few bits in Mothercare I want to pick up if all is ok Saturday. I'm going mad having to wait.

Sanjifair · 06/05/2013 20:25

We went for a lovely picnic in a nature reserve today and kicked a ball around with DS and went for a walk with him scooting.
I have a very long list of girls names and a shorter one of boys names. DP doesn't want to start making his list until after the 20 week scan ( which is what we did last time). I am currently liking any names with 'Anna' in them, eg Anna, Hannah, Alanna, Susannah etc. and Lucas, Oscar or Tobias for a boy.
One thing is for certain though, I am not going along with DS's choices. He wants Penelope for a girl (because his friend down the road has a baby sister called that) or Dart Dart Dart for a boy. I like Penelope but not a favourite and wouldn't use it cos of friend down the road, and certainly am not keen on Dart Dart Dart!
