Welcome to thread number 7 (of many) of the October bus xxx

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

smitten ooo, how exciting! Although DH and I are now pretty set on our decision to not find out the sex, I am jealous of everyone else on here who is! Must be so lovely to know which section of mothercare to head to, and being able to only work through half of any 'baby names' book.

Shootingstarsandcomets · 03/05/2013 15:54

Thank you for my virtual wine Grin
Think it is hormones am sure a cuddle will help and maybe some cake which I am going to eat now!!
How exciting smitten and how organised! We need to do the same but it probably won't get done for months despite good intentions!

Shirehobbit · 03/05/2013 16:16

I've been remarkably even tempered of late (Monday's midwife meltdown, aside Blush ) but I hope you feel better soon.

I've had a number of people say how well I look in the last couple of days. I'm either finally blooming or, comparatively, I looked terrible in the first trimester Wink

HotSoupDumpling · 03/05/2013 16:23

Shooting, I'm sure the cake will help! Eat it with no guilt whatsoever, and enjoy! I've had a few days/evenings of feeling mopey, and it's a good excuse to spoil myself (EVEN more than I'm already being spoilt due to being pregs!) and demand hugs.

Claphammama · 03/05/2013 16:34

We are also getting our nursery painted next week. Exciting! The first real baby job we are doing. Also wanted to go with yellow but have now chosen a lovely olive green. A strong colour but should look nice with all white furniture.

OrangeBlossom2 · 03/05/2013 16:49

Roxvox, I wouldnt compare booking weights to weights at home. They weigh you in your clothes and shoes and seem to just round down to the nearest kilogram to allow for clothing, but clothes and shoes can really vary in weight. My weights have been roughly right but not completely accurate compared to when I weigh myself on the wii fit naked Blush.

Glad you got something to help the dizziness sloppy. Walking around in the heat won't have helped.

Congrats on the little boy umlauf! Smile

I too have been told I look really well today by three people. Perhaps the blooming has begun! Hoorah! I slept from 11 until nearly 6 without getting up as far as I remember for the first time in months so that and the sunshine put a spring in my step. I hope it wasn't a one off!

Driving to a hotel tonight for my goddaughters christening tomorrow. A bit nervous about doing a reading but should be a nice day. Off to see if a dress I bought for a wedding about 4 weeks ago still fits me Confused I bought a cheap emergency dress from new look just in case but hoping the nice one still fits.

34PinkLadyApple · 03/05/2013 16:50

Our nursery is olive with white furniture too! Love it. Got a bargain rocking chair (in white) for the dodgey next door neighbour last week for £15 too! (I say dodgey because if you mention you are after something he 'finds' it for you, I'm not complaining!). I might mention I need new carpet too.... Grin

Claphammama · 03/05/2013 16:58

Yay pinklady! Can you ask your neighbour to find me a nice white breastfeeding chair please? Couldn't afford one with DS1 but would love one now, especially that we already have everything else.

roxvox · 03/05/2013 17:06

OrangeBlossom my midwife has never actually weighed me! She asked me what my 'normal' weight was, and that was it! I am purely basing my weight on my scales I have at home. I put them on the same kitchen tile every Saturday morning and weigh myself before I have eaten anything. I wouldn't be surprised if they were a bit off though to be honest!

I like the idea of olive green and white claphammama, sounds lovely. I would quite like to do that on one wall and then put up a stencil of a white tree or something.

Love the idea of getting a BF rocking chair, but I don't think I will be able to convince DH that it is such a necessity!

Claphammama · 03/05/2013 17:09

"pinklady" that's two orders for £15 white rocking chairs for your neighbour now :-)

Smitten1981 · 03/05/2013 17:17

How funny Clapham DH picked up an olive paint and said, ooh I like this colour. I said "we decided white" and we had a bit of a squabble in the shop!

Natalieand · 03/05/2013 17:32

Sorry umilaug I forgot to say congratulations on your baby boy :-) I'm feeling quite excited about my baby not now I've had a few days to adjust to the idea spending rediculous amounts on boys cute baby grows and clothes must have helped

Also forgot to say GT sorry u are in so much pain! Sounds absolutely awful perhaps I should stop moaning about my occasional back ache as it could be so much worse

I am absolutely loving all this nursery painting talk. I'm undecided as to when to paint dd's room part of me thinks I should do it before baby arrives so she doesn't think we're changing her space just for him because her bed will be moving to the opposite end of the room too in the big change around but then at the same time I'm not sure if I'm being a bit premature as baby will be in with us at first. Ugh the dialemma these darling children give us lol

Umlauf · 03/05/2013 18:49

Thank you for all your congratulations! I've uploaded one of the pics to my profile, its only letting me upload one though on the iPad.

Gt sorry to hear you're in so much pain. SPD is the one thing I'm really concerned about in pregnancy.

Shirehobbit · 03/05/2013 18:58

Wow! They're stunning photos, Umlauf - congratulations!

I'm worried about SPD too (also hypermobile).

thethreeblondies · 03/05/2013 19:19

Just had my 16wk check with my lovely midwife (who is case loading me) at home with my 2DD's who didn't stop talking/asking questions throughout! Got to all hear the heartbeat so very happy Grin

In other news, DH cut a massive hole in the hallway ceiling, ready for stairs and eventual loft conversion (bungalow) Very exciting and will mean the kids will all get a bedroom, when we decide which and how to decorate each of them! Can see this being ongoing for rest of the year!

HotSoupDumpling · 03/05/2013 19:22

Ahh, planning decorating is so fun! (Although the actual doing of it is a bit of a pain...).

Poor mini-dumpling. It is being put in our bedroom, then the study, which is mostly lots of doors and lots of bookcases and two windows. So no point painting the minimal wall left! And not many decorating options either!

Sanjifair · 03/05/2013 20:01

Congrats on an baby boy Umlauf! (would have also have been congrats on a girl, obviously!)

I had my 16 week appt today as well, thethreeblondes. Lovely to hear the heart beat. Was 135 bpm and sound of a chuffing train, not a galloping horse, so perhaps another boy? Midwife said the bpm thing was quite flawed, as a high heart rate could mean they have been moving a lot, and it also depends on your own heart rate (mine is low). Though she did say heart rate well over 140 did often turn out to be a girl!

Claphammama · 03/05/2013 20:06

oooooo.... weekly allowance of one glass of rose per week has been consumed. tasted so good in the garden on a warm spring night...

Natalieand · 03/05/2013 20:21

umlauf u have just inspired me to upload my pics now I'm feeling happier about a baby boy x

OP posts:
Soupqueen · 03/05/2013 20:31

Congrats umlauf!

hotsoup, same here. No nursery to decorate. Our room, then the study. We're hoping to move within the next couple of years though so I'll hopefully get a toddler room to decorate.

Those of you who've got SPD/ had it in the past, I've got a question. I have an odd pain, like someone has kicked me between the legs. It doesn't feel like its the joints though, more like bruising of the fleshy bit if that makes sense? Is that an SPD symptom or am I worrying over nothing?

Natalieand · 03/05/2013 20:31

Grr mums net is annoying me. Everytime I upload a picture it deletes the ones I had there before as if I can only ever have one picture in my gallery any ideas ladies?

OP posts:
Umlauf · 03/05/2013 20:37

That's what it did for me natalie so no ideas but would like to know. It would be lovely to see your pic too though!

I'm excited about a baby boy but apprehensive too, I guess I thought a girl would be easier because I am one. Been looking at some shops and can't find many nice baby boy clothes, even more annoying is Diane con furstenberg has done an amazing collaboration with baby gap but ONLY for girls. Grrr!

Natalieand · 03/05/2013 20:41

I've uploaded a 3d pics but I've got a bit of a cheeky favour if I upload a pic of his 'hot dog' can u all just tell me if u think its definately a boy? not that I'm in denial lol

OP posts:
roofio87 · 03/05/2013 20:50

Hehe Natalie I love it. even though I know its pretty squashed In there like on ur pic I still imagine my baby to be swimming about freely in there, obviously not!!
I had been favoring a girl lately but spending today with my adorable 14 week old nephew I now want a boy!! either way I'll be happy!!

ananikifo · 03/05/2013 20:53

Roofio: I lost about 7 kg so far and still haven't gained any back. I lose up to about a pound (0.5 kg) a week. Every week I weigh myself and the number jut steadily goes down, even though I have a definite bump now. I had my mw appt today and DH mentioned it and she said not to worry about weight at all. They test our urine for ketones and mine didn't have any so I'm eating and drinking enough. Basically weight doesn't mean anything, and that's why midwives don't weigh us routinely.

And on the subject of the appointment, we heard the heartbeat and it was lovely. She made an appointment for the anti D injection (anyone else having this? I'm expecting a big needle!) and reassured me about the tiredness. I really like this mw and I'm going to try to keep her when I move, even though really I should probably change GPs and therefore MWs too.
