yes ananifiko ur right I suppose they don't weigh so they can't be too bothered. after I had mouth cancer they were pretty obsessed with weighing me and making sure I was putting the weight id lost back on and its hard not to think like that now.
I'm having the anti d injections too!! mines on 30th July, when's urs?

ananikifo · 03/05/2013 21:04

Mine is the 2nd of August. It seems ages away!

roofio87 · 03/05/2013 21:05

Ooo,I'll let you know how mine goes!! I know, people keep saying to me 'oh your pregnancy will just fly by' but I think its dragging!!

Natalieand · 03/05/2013 21:07

And congrats on getting through cancer treatment! I can imagine it's hard to change your way of thinking but if your medical team were concerned I'm sure they would do something about it.

I always assumed I would gain weight like crazy in my pregnancy. I can't believe I'm buying maternity clothes in size 12 when I've been snug in my size 14 clothes for years now.

ananikifo · 03/05/2013 21:20

Also can I mention to everyone that mamas and papas have a 30% off sale on all their maternity clothes but if you try to get 3 for 2 items (even though they're still marked 3 for 2) you lose the discount! If you don't want three items it's a good sale though.

Xiaoxiong · 03/05/2013 21:39

soupqueen I've had SPD but that doesn't sound like it to me - that sounds more like the extra blood volume of pregnancy causing some swelling and aching of the fanjo

Anyway I remember getting a bit swollen last time round and it felt a bit like bruising - I found a bunch of reassuring advice on threads on here at the time.

char1eston · 03/05/2013 23:41

Best of luck pea that's fantastic news.

Congrats on the boy, umlauf :)

sorry you're having a rough time gt.

As for decorating, baby will be going into the current nursery (no plans to redecorate) and dd will move into the spare room over the next few months. Thinking about decorating it with a 'sea' theme - beach hut curtains but that's about as far as I've got!

Soupqueen · 04/05/2013 07:24

Thanks xiaoxiong, that's reassuring.

Re weight, I had put on 3 pounds since the start but have now lost 1 of those. I have a definite bump and my boobs have gone from a FF to an H Shock. I've got a midwife appointment on Wednesday, so was going to check with her. The midwife at my booking in appointment rounded up on the scales, so the weight on my notes is nowhere near accurate. I think she didn't want to bend down to look at the scales so looked for the next big number.

Started knitting my first special care baby hat, so far so good, hoping to finish it today.

Shootingstarsandcomets · 04/05/2013 07:42

Morning all, think my boobs have gone up another size overnight Grin they seem enormous today. Feeling better this morning and happy it's the weekend and a good weather forecast for once!

notsoold · 04/05/2013 09:05

15 weeks today and feeling fine...I used to feel the baby move ( the flutters etc) and it is my third one so I know the difference....but I haven't felt movement for a week today. I am panicking and considering buying a doppler ( I didn't consider before because of getting myself worked up).
I am due to see MW next Friday.
Am I being silly???
Please help:(

Soupqueen · 04/05/2013 09:22

The baby has probably just flipped over and is kicking the other way. If you're concerned, can you give the midwives a call?

ananikifo · 04/05/2013 09:43

Notsoold: I would call the midwives. I wouldn't risk worrying yourself more with a home Doppler.

roofio87 · 04/05/2013 10:14

really stupid first time mother question: where does breast milk actual come from? I mean, is it just out of the middle of your nipple? I've never thought about it before and looking at my boobs I can't imagine where it actually comes out!? (ha,thank god I have you lot to ask such ridiculousness to!!)Grin

thethreeblondies · 04/05/2013 10:38

roofio It comes out of the middle raised bit (forgotten technical term!) but it sort of comes out of multiple places, sometimes at funny angles, can cause fun when baby unlatches mid feed and it spurts out over whoever may be sitting next to you!

Shootingstarsandcomets · 04/05/2013 12:00

It's a bit odd really that it does come out of so many little holes I always thought it would just be one hole in the middle but I was wrong!!
Notsoold I'd give the midwife a ring, the Doppler might stress you out even more if you can't find it. I thought I felt baby a few days ago but haven't since but I think it's because they are so teeny tiny in there. Think i read somewhere that you only feel them everyday once they are quite a bit bigger

Wickedgirl · 04/05/2013 14:56

I had a cheeky glass of red wine last night......my glass since getting a BFP. It was lovely. I have stopped being sick......I haven't been sick for a week now so that's good too.

My SPD has definitely kicked in though and walking for more than 10 minutes is so painful. I have my "16" week check on Wednesday (when I'll be 18 weeks) so I will mention it to her to see if there's anything that can be done to stop it from getting worse. The pain is already waking me up at night. :(

I will be having anti d jabs but haven't yet been given any dates......maybe my midwife will give them to me on Wednesday? I hope to get my hospital notes and blood test results too on Wednesday

Natalieand · 04/05/2013 15:16

MoN when do u get the rest of your amino results? Or have u already had them and I've missed it

P.s I saw your initial ones about downs Edwards turners etc and I remember u mentioning there was further results to come x

Another 10 days or so to wait Natalie.
I've finally given in and bought some maternity clothes and my sister is coming round later with a baby bouncer, swing and stetiliser. I've even allowed myself to choose a pram so nothing better go wrong now.

JellyCurls · 04/05/2013 15:34

SPD suffering ladies

I suffered terribly in last pregnancy and at 12 weeks I started getting those really sore familiar aches. Called maternity Physio who told me there was nothing could be done until after baby but they could give me some pointers. Not one to believe a medical professional I made an appointment with a private Physio. We had a chat, she checked me over and turns out my SPD was being caused by a ligament in me spine seizing. Half an hour of not so sore manipulation and I walked out pain free. 19 weeks on Monday and apart from aches if I sit too long I am ok.

If this is an option for you please consider it I was in crutches at 19 weeks last time also. Hugs to you all x

Natalieand · 04/05/2013 16:09

MoN excuse my ignorance but what other things will the test rule out in 10 days? Xx

OP posts:
MotherOfNations · 04/05/2013 16:34

I'm not completely sure myself Natalie but I know spina bifida and cystic fibrosis are among them, though from what I've read they only test fir cystic fibrosis if there is a family history.

Soupqueen · 04/05/2013 17:20

I asked the Dr who did my amnio what the second lot of results would be for. She said they test for dozens of things, but it's really rare to get a positive for any of them.

Natalieand · 04/05/2013 18:34

U no what I've been looking for a nice chunky blanket for when baby arrives can't find one anywhere so I thought all u lovely ladies seem like dab hands at knitting it really can't be that difficult had a quick you tube search for a tutorial and I think it's safe to say my hunt for a nice chunky blanket is back on lol

JellyCurls · 04/05/2013 18:44

natalie when we had amnio with dc1 initial results were for Downs, Pataus & Edwards. Second results were after a full chromosomal analysis.

As for blankets check your local wool shop, ours sells hand knitting as well as wool sometimes they have lovely shawls and blankets for sale
