Welcome to thread number 7 (of many) of the October bus xxx

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
favellio · 30/04/2013 17:25

Fingers crossed for you MoN. Sending lots of good vibes your way Thanks

Shirehobbit · 30/04/2013 17:43

Busy day on here!

Good to hear from you MoN just keep everything crossed for you and Soup

I cannot imagine the stress that's caused Falcon - when will those stats change for you?

Hope you feel better soon, Pink and Clapham

Massive hugs for you all (and anyone I've missed)

In other news - don't forget it's round one of the masterchef finals tonight Grin

MotherOfNations · 30/04/2013 17:56

I hope everything works out alright Falcon. Why can't this bloody pregnancy lark just be easy?

roofio87 · 30/04/2013 17:57

Mon glad it went well today and fingers crossed for the results.
falcon sorry about your appointment today. hopefully they will be able to monitor everything closely and all will be fine.

re:bump, mine is now huge!! I'm loving it Haha. 17+4 today.
re:movements. I've still not felt anything. thought maybe I had but nothing since and nothing when the mw was poking baby with dopplerand and they were squirming away so just can't feel it yet. however I can tell when it has moved. sometimes my tummy is very hard and sometimes softer so I think that's when the baby is in different positions. it is also sometimes definitely sat on my bladder so I know its movjg about in there!!

been having a rough week, had dp's cousin's funeral yesterday, was very difficult. he was only 17 so very sad. then rang my dgran today and she had no idea who I was. she has recently been diagnose with alzheimers and is deteriorating rapidly. I think this is all why I have bought so much baby stuff already. it just makes me happy and reminds me of the good things written have to look forward to.
sorry for the ramble but felt good to get that out!!

HotSoupDumpling · 30/04/2013 18:00

Roofio - that's rough. My grandpa doesn't recognise me and it's really hard at first, a sort of slow mourning process because their old self has gone. You sort of come to terms with it.

Falcon, sorry for the bad news, but glad there's some good news too.

mon - hope you are resting, glad this bit is over.

Have not forgotten about Masterchef! Looking forward!

FeministInTraining · 30/04/2013 18:40

Thinking of you mon hope you aren't left waiting too long for results- and soup . Sorry falcon and roofio are having a tough time, sending Brew

Don't feel sorry jelly I really wasn't expecting to hear anything, and to anyone concerned I just had my 16wk app and midwife found the heartbeat using the doppler straight away- despite having no luck with the app! She even said before that it might take a while and that if she really couldn't find it she would pop round and ask the sonographer to have a look. I was v impressed- good thing about appointments in the hosp. I will disregard the fact I was finally seen an hour after my appointment time

Kiddicare do own brand nappies- usually £50 for a month (200) but £20 at the moment. Seems silly not to, they seem to have good reviews. Someone on the thread might have already said this, maybe that's where I heard it! Hmm

OrangeBlossom2 · 30/04/2013 19:10

Sorry to hear your appointment was worrying falcon. Hope they get back to you soon about whether you need the meds.

MoN goos to hear from you. I hope you also hear back soon. Do you have sky TV? There was a program on the home and health Chanel a couple of days ago that I caught a bit (they have baby program's on pretty much all the time!) about a girl born with turners and I thought of you. She had swollen hands and feet and a possible heart problem that put her in the special unit but looked a lovely little thing and the parents were able to take her home at the end. I wonder if you can get it online?

The combination of cheap maternity wear fabric and a stuffy hot room sent me into whole body sweating overdrive all afternoon. Disgusting. It's not even summer yet!

We are planning on buying a cheap chest of drawers and putting a changing mat on that too smitten, the changing tables seem very expensive and all except maybe one were a bit too high for me anyway when we tried them at John Lewis (5ft 3 so probably made for taller people). DH made me bring a doll that was in one of. The pushchairs to have a go! my nappy changing technique will need some work! Blush

Shirehobbit · 30/04/2013 19:53

I am really achy and sore this evening. I've had to get out the hot water bottle that I keep for period pains.
This is normal, isn't it?

roxvox · 30/04/2013 20:17

shirehobbit I too have achy days when I end up going to bed early... Pretty sure it's just growing pains and things moving around to make room for baby!

How are people's diets? I am concerned that I am not eating healthily enough, but I can't picture many vegetables that wouldn't make me urge. I try to eat a bit of fruit during the day, and have a bit of salad with my lunch, but I have this horrible feeling that everyone else is doing really well with their healthy eating and it's just me who is struggling?

roxvox · 30/04/2013 20:19

I should point out that I am normally fine with veg, but for some reason it has become one of my aversions that I really struggle to eat.

Shirehobbit · 30/04/2013 20:22

Glad it's not just me feeling ouchie rovox

As for diet - I have very good days, good days and then I have those less than virtuous days (ahem). But are you taking a pregnancy multivit, too? Surely that helps.

Flyer747 · 30/04/2013 20:23

Rox I'm totally the same, thinking everyone else is eating healthy and here's me eating too much white bread etc! One of my food aversions is also vegetables, I usually love them however in this pregnancy I've not been able to stomach them.

I eat the same as you with a bit of salad with lunch and some fruit. I'm sure we will be fine.

Shirehobbit · 30/04/2013 20:24

I've found my appetite is really up and down. As are my tastes/desire for certain foods. I'm just trying to roll with it - I'm not starving or overeating and I don't think I'm neglecting any food groups for more than a day.

Flyer747 · 30/04/2013 20:25

And I take pregnacare daily so hoping that makes up for any vitamins I'm missing out on....

Had my 16 wk appoint, midwife found the HB straight away 150 bpm, whats the old wives tale regarding HB rate and gender?

roxvox · 30/04/2013 20:28

If the wives tale is to be believed then you're having a girl flyer! I am glad your appointment went well.

I am taking pregnacare daily too, as I was worried that I may not get all of my vitamins in my diet. I seem to only really want to eat carbs! Glad it's not just me though Smile

Shirehobbit · 30/04/2013 20:32

Mmmmm...carbs. Particularly 'white' carbs or 'empty' carbs...bread, crumpets, biscuits, crisps...
Definitely had days when I could have eaten a household's worth of them!

Flyer747 · 30/04/2013 20:33

Oh also sorry for loads of posts. I handed my wee sample to the midwife and she asked if I was taking pregnacare vitamins, the reason she said she knew I was taking them was due to the fact my urine was bright yellow almost luminescent , has anyone else noticed this strange side effect?

Flyer747 · 30/04/2013 20:36

Oooh a girl rox, I'd secretly love a girl (although I'm really not bothered either way)

Yes I'm like you canna get them carbs in my gob quick enough :-)

roxvox · 30/04/2013 20:46

I've just eaten pizza for tea and that's what got me feeling guilty! It was all that I fancied though, and buying something I don't want will just mean that I eat a forkful, gag, and bin it. I haven't had any MS at all, but my gag reflex seems to be very sensitive when brushing my teeth/trying to swallow food I am not enjoying the taste of.

I've just had a quick google and a few people mentioned V8 vegetable juice. Sounds horrendous, and is probably supremely expensive, but I might give it a try just to try and make myself feel a bit less guilty!

I have to say that I haven't noticed any vibrant wee!

MotherOfNations · 30/04/2013 20:48

Not got sky Orange but I'll have a look online.
I can't stop eating I've had two plates of chiken with ginger and spring onion and noodles and could easily eat more. I've just had a second chocolate filled donut too. I feel like I'm constantly thinking about what I can have to eat next.

Claphammama · 30/04/2013 21:02

Just dragged myself off the sofa and cooking a massive portion of chorizo and prawn pasta - all for myself as I'm on my own tonight. Still feeling so sick and sorry for myself (although I know I have no right as people here have some real worries!) but I do believe that pasta solves most of minor problems.

Umlauf · 30/04/2013 21:03

Ooooh I've just won a bugaboo travel system on eBay for £200!!! How can I spin to DH that the bargain makes it ok that I've been shopping?!

Umlauf · 30/04/2013 21:04

Pasta is good clapham but chorizo can cure ALL AILMENTS!

Claphammama · 30/04/2013 21:06

agree umlauf and congrats on your purchase!

OMG - they are in Italy and Florence on Masterchef and talk Italian. Now I just feel nostalgic and sad and crying into my pasta sauce...

roxvox · 30/04/2013 21:14

My pizza was topped with chorizo. I am loving spicy at the minute it seems.

Congrats umlauf! I haven't bid on anything yet for fear of winning something and then having to tell DH about it (we have agreed not to buy anything yet though)

Oh claphammama don't be sad! I take it you are from Italy?
