Turners itself doesn't worry me too much but many Turners pregnancies don't make it to term and that's what's worrying us. If I lost the baby very late in the pregnancy that would mean having a cesarean thus ending any hope of having a baby with my partner.

Claphammama · 30/04/2013 13:40

but is there still a chance that everything is absolutely right MoN?

Smitten1981 · 30/04/2013 13:50

At least you don't have to wait very long at all for your results MoN, keeping my fingers crossed for the best possible outcome for you.

MotherOfNations · 30/04/2013 13:53

I suppose there's always a chance Clapham I'm just preparing myself for the worst so that anything else is a bonus.

MotherOfNations · 30/04/2013 13:56

Thankyou Smitten I really hope all the prayers and crossed fingers work.

roxvox · 30/04/2013 13:59

Pleased to hear you've had the test done now MoN. I've got all my fingers crossed for a good outcome.

Warlin · 30/04/2013 14:02

MoN yay that it's over and at least you will get the results soon. Make sure you rest and get plenty of TLC. Fingers crossed for positive results. Flowers

rox I'm sure there is a number in my notes which are at home and I'm in work. Must get round to putting it in my phone! Think I'll just leave it and ring if it gets worse...can't be bothered trying to track someone down and then being told it's probably nothing. Will ring tmw if it hasn't gone away.

smitten I (or rather my back) couldnt be without the changing table. I didn't buy one initially with ds1 but then MIL wanted to buy us something and I asked her for one. We now have one upstairs and one downstairs. People will want to buy you things so I would hold off in the meantime.

We splashed out and bought a lovely Boori cotbed (can't remember how you spell it now!) for ds1. I feel too bad to buy a cheaper version for dc2, and yet I paid more as I thought it could be used for 2 kids...doh!

Claphammama · 30/04/2013 14:05

hoping for the best outcome for you MoN!

MotherOfNations · 30/04/2013 14:18

We came home via the Chinese supermarket so Dp is busy in the kitchen making lunch while I lie on the sofa.

Soupqueen · 30/04/2013 14:20

Glad the test went ok MoN. Fingers crossed for good news.

Xiaoxiong · 30/04/2013 14:32

Another set of crossed fingers, toes and hopeful thoughts here for you MoN. Good luck.

Natalie good luck for gender scan tomorrow!

Had my next MW appt today at 17 weeks with the same midwife that came out for DS when we started off as a homebirth. It was lovely to see her again and hear the heartbeat and the baby kicking away Smile

We did the same as smitten and put a wedge-sided changing mat on top of a square of non-slip carpet pad that we laid on top of an old desk which we use instead of a changing table and also to store DS's clothes in the drawers. Nappy pail and folded clean nappies go in the knee hole of the desk Smile

I must admit we didn't use a baby bath when DS was small - just bathed in the sink or in the tub with him - but now he's a toddler and can sit in it by himself we do use it every night as it's got a non-slip bottom and is so much quicker to fill than the entire bathtub. We should have waited a year till we bought it though. We got this one from Ikea which is only £2.50 with the Ikea Family discount.

roxvox · 30/04/2013 14:40

I like the look of that baby bath Xiaoxiong! My SIL sent me this picture that I thought looked like a pretty nifty idea too - laundry bath

Shootingstarsandcomets · 30/04/2013 15:02

Glad amnio went well mon fingers crossed for you.
warlin I'm the same I went a bit crazy for ds and spent a small fortune in his nursery and bought a sleigh cot too thinking it could do for future babies- oops! I'll feel so mean if I don't do the same for baby two but not sure where the cash is going to appear from Confused!
Has anyone thought about a bednest? They are amazing, we bought a Moses basket but turns out ds was a Velcro baby and would not sleep in it at all but I borrowed a bednest and t worked like a dream. More expensive than a Moses but they last longer and its well worth the spend. Also no problems stopping cosleeping at 6 months we night weaned ds and put him in his own cot and he sleeps beautifully in there.

Xiaoxiong · 30/04/2013 15:03

rox that is really cute! You'd still have to fill the whole bath though to the right depth and with ours (extra long) it seems to take an age.

It would corral DS though when we take a bath with him. When he's with me all he wants to do is lunge at my boobs and breastfeed.

Xiaoxiong · 30/04/2013 15:06

Shootingstars jealous of your bednest success! We couldn't find one to borrow and they seemed so expensive, so did the DIY sidecar cot thing with an Ikea Gulliver cot which worked brilliantly. DS was a velcro baby too Smile

roxvox · 30/04/2013 15:11

Xiaoxiong our bath is the same actually, whenever I go to take a bath I always forget and end up sat in ankle deep water feeling very cold whilst waiting for it to fill. I didn't realise you could get one so cheap from Ikea so I think I will just go for that!

Re sleeping arrangement, I personally am looking to get a cotbed. I like the idea that I can use it for a good few years. I intend to buy it off of eBay or gumtree or somewhere else second hand (obviously I will buy a new mattress) so don't intend to spend the earth.

shootingstars I really like the look of those cot nests, but unfortunately it won't work in our room. If I am right, I think you can hire one of the basic ones from NCT for about £99 for 6 months.

TheFalconsmistress · 30/04/2013 15:19

What i have learned from my consultant is -

GOOD NEWS: downs risk was calculated at 1-100000

BAD NEWS: tsh levels at 3.9 which can cause m/c early or late all this time i have been at risk yet they want to check this blood before giving me meds :'(

And my platelets are super super high meaning I have a huge chance of clotting considering the trauma and blood loss the last time I want to crawl into a ball and cry right now

And my HG levels are still really low despite taking iron religiously since week 6 or something, really really down and scared now.

roxvox · 30/04/2013 15:30

Hi falcons sorry to hear you had a bad appointment. Hopefully they will check your bloods pretty quickly and will get you some meds if needed. It is good that they are looking to do something about it, and also that they have all of this information now so they can best help you.

pinkbuttons · 30/04/2013 15:50

Glad amnio went ok MoN will be keeping my fingers crossed for your results tomorrow

falcon sorry to hear about your bad appt. Have they put you on thyroxone and did they take your other thyroid levels? i have an underactive thyroid normally and am under consultant care for it though havent seen them yet. risk of mc is higher in 1st trimester which you are past so they just need to get you on meds before 3rd trimester. can also affect growth of baby but now that they know your levels they can keep an eye out. overall would say is good theyve found out now. sorry to hear about platelet levels is there anything they can do to prevent that?
Glad nuchal results are low for you though. sending you hugs.

I am sat in drs surgery after being told it was closed all day, ended up phoning emergency line and the computers are down so it is madness. apparently is an"emergency" though as have been given an appt. Felt like a bit of a fraud at the time.

TheFalconsmistress · 30/04/2013 16:53

Thanks roxvox and pink meds should sort thyroid issues will be on them if bloods today come back the same.

High platlet not sure there is anything to help just emotional with it all xx

Claphammama · 30/04/2013 16:53

sending you a big virtual hug falcon!!

TheFalconsmistress · 30/04/2013 16:59

Claphammama · 30/04/2013 17:01
