Wow pregnancy yoga is not easy for the long time not yoga-ed. saw my physio to get advice yesterday which was good and inspired me to get into a Swiss ball- yoga- swimming routine. I am completely weak and unfit due to a very bad time of late with my ME/CFS, but determined to do what I can to improve that by the time bay comes.

Did the yoga with a DVD which was good. Just need hubbi to find the pump for the Swiss ball.

Anyone else a bit new to this exercise lark?

Weescottie · 25/05/2013 09:54

LadyMedea I haven't done any exercise in months! This combined with stuffing my face with rubbish for the last couple of months means my tummy is definitely more on the wobbly side than firm baby bump!
I was hoping to join a yoga class once I'm 12 weeks. But do you recommend the DVD? I just think I'd end up not doing the DVD but would have to participate in the class.
I've also been considering swimming. Just the thought of swimming costumes putting me off!
Does anyone else find they have 'extra' hair growth? Blush I have to shave my legs about 3 times as often as I did pre pregnancy!

Soopermum1 · 25/05/2013 10:07

I think I felt the baby moving this morning. 2nd pregnancy and will be 13 weeks tomorrow. anyone else felt anything?

ccsays · 25/05/2013 10:31

Off for a private scan at half two, wish me luck! (Got a call from the clinic asking if we could come earlier because a cancellation, said no because DP has a kilt fitting booked for a wedding to which she replied 'so you can't come in any earlier AT ALL?' Hmm)

Poor you fluffy, that sounds horrible (and also gives me the heebie jeebies)

Harry, I felt the same for weeks, but heartbeat was there on my scan. Hope it's the same for you.

Weescottie, the lady who did my scan asked if we wanted a nuchal test which would involve nuchal fold measurement and another blood test.

We decided not to bother, because our next door neighbour has a beautiful daughter with down syndrome who we love and we didn't feel having the test would give us any benefit - and I hate having blood tests as my veins are so teeny. This doesn't mean I don't think others shouldn't have the test - it's definitely a personal choice!

I really want to get into exercise but I'm soooooo lazy at the moment! Going to the pool seems like such a faff even though it's only a 10 min walk away. Sigh!

violetbean · 25/05/2013 11:52

Oops just noticed double negative in my post, hehe. You know what I meant!

LadyMedea · 25/05/2013 13:49

weescottie I'd recommend the DVD it's [http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pregnancy-Health-Yoga-Tara-Lee/dp/B0012KSDG0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1369485845&sr=8-1&keywords=yoga+pregnancy this one] although I got the box set with the post-natal and baby yoga DVDs. It's a few hours later and I definitely feel tired in my legs. It's very focused on helping you bond with your baby and learn stuff that will help you in labour, as well as give everything a good workout. I'm determined to be prepared and relaxed as possible to try and have zero interventions, I think this will help with that.

I've looked at local classes near me but not found any that aren't either term time only (not good considering the time of year) or at really awkward times. So DVD it is for me. My aim is minimum once a week on a Saturday or Sunday, and during the week if I get a day working at home.

P.S. also just bought a second swiss ball to take to work and sit on instead of a chair. left it on top of the pay machine in the car park. Total pregnancy brain, at least it was only £7.

Gooseysgirl · 25/05/2013 14:41

Soopermum I've also had some 'sensations' in the last few days, am 12+2. I recognise the movement from last time, otherwise I would have thought it was wind. With DD I felt movement at 16 weeks, I nearly fell off my chair in the office when it happened I was so surprised!!! Amazed to be feeling movement so early this time though, maybe it happens earlier on subsequent pregnancies? Must have a google...

Ganetgob · 25/05/2013 17:01

Sorry for complete change of topic, but I have a question for you.

My friend has told me she is getting married this time next year. (She's not engaged yet, but apparently that isn't an issue!) They will be getting married in Kefalonia. She has asked whether I think the 3 of us will be able to come. I really have no idea what to say. Will a baby be able to fly when it is less than 5 months old?(I have no idea about vaccinations etc) Is it crazy to be considering it? I just don't know!

Opinions would be great! (Especially from those who have children already/ have travelled with little ones!)

ccsays · 25/05/2013 17:17

Just back from scan and all was well, heard the heartbeat (whompf, whompf, whompf, whompf) and saw wee baby legs kicking about. So chuffed! Smile

NomDeClavier · 25/05/2013 17:38

Yes gannet baby should be fine to fly. They'll have had 2 lots (probably) of jabs anyway. It's a logistic faff but perfectly doable. We flew when DS was 3 months - used a Ingram so didn't take a pram, BF so no bottles/formula/sterilising, not yet weaned so no solid food. The only issues were carseats and babysitting!

NomDeClavier · 25/05/2013 17:42

A Ingram? A sling!!

Yay for the heartbeat and the legs kicking, ccsays!

I can't wait to feel movements. I felt very little with DS as the placenta was anterior and when I actually felt them it was proper kicks.

2Labradors · 25/05/2013 18:25

feather I'm sorry things aren't going smoothly, really hope things settle soon

I had our 12 week scan on Thursday, it was lovely. I was a bit concerned as baby wasn't moving around much and as we weren't having the downs screening it was a really short scan. The sonographer did wiggle the scan to try and wake baby up and we saw a little arm go up and wave at us. She reassured me that thy have their active and quiet times, heartbeat was beating away and everything looks good.
The scan moved by due date to 28th nov, so I hope you don't mind me staying on the December thread? DD was 5 days late, DS was 6 days late, so if this one follows he/she will be late and a December baby.

I have an unhideable (is that a word?) bump/belly now. My IBS has just been awful and I have a constant bloat.

We've told the children about the baby too now, they're very excited! Typically my daughter wants a sister and my son wants a brother!

Ooo and I'm convinced I've been feeling tiny movements too Smile

froubylou · 25/05/2013 19:47

Evening all. Hope we are all enjoying the long weekend.

Df cooked today. Well he bbq'd which sort of counts I suppose.

More lovely scan results. Yippee for all of the dancing beans!

I want some doritos and sour cream dip. Or pubstyle nachos with chilli n cheese n stuff on. Sigh.

QuietNinjaTardis · 25/05/2013 19:59

Weescottie I'm like a hairy beast! And my fingernails are growing at the speed of light!
I'm still feeling really crap so not going to contemplate exercise until I'm feeling better. And have some energy.
ladymedea can that yoga DVD be done even if you're an unfit haven't touched exercise for ages type? Is it ok to start in pregnancy? Will make a not for when I am feeling better which fingers crossed will be soon I keep thinking about all the lovely food that I just can't stomach at the mo. driving me crazy.

13loki · 25/05/2013 20:19

Evening. Today we went and visited the house we are buying (on Friday, that's come around quickly.) It looks even bigger without all the furniture in it. The current owners asked if it was OK to leave the piano and the outdoor furniture, and is leaving all the gardening tools and some tools in the workshop/garage. Also a baby gate made to match the stairs perfectly. We are moving from a fully furnished rented apartment, so it's great that's a whole heap we don't have to buy.

I am totally shattered and fell asleep before kids bedtime. Little one is still up, I am hoping she falls asleep without realising she hasn't had breastmilk.

I am dreaming about a baby spinach salad with baby plum tomatoes, bacon and hard boiled eggs and lots of brie. I'd settle for camembert. Perhaps I could bake the cheese and then cut it up for the salad?

Ganetgob Eldest was born middle of October and we flew to Australia christmas day that year. We just had to make sure we registered his name as soon as possible and then applied for his passport straight away. It was fine, and the easiest flight I've taken with him! This one has no chance of a trip that early, I'm getting panicky about a trip we've been planning in the June after it's born, it will be born stateless, so we have to apply for citizenship for it before we can get a passport. DH and I both have 2 citizenships, but neither is passed on automatically.

PistachioTruffle · 25/05/2013 22:41

Weescottie, the hair on my head (which normally grows quickly) is rubbish and growing really slowly, while the hair on my body is growing ridiculously fast.

Harry, I'm 10+6 today and no real symptoms. I asked my mum though, and apparently her pregnancies were very similar.

I've had some very strange sensations inside, I'm sure it can't be baby at this stage but I've no idea what it is! It feels almost like itching inside my lower abdomen.

abcdemma · 25/05/2013 23:58

I've had some weird sensations too, like a balloon bouncing around inside me or something... Weird...
I'm noticing a few extra hairs on my chin which weren't there before but just waiting for the "long glorious locks" stage cause my (head) hair has gone really thin lately.
Tried the 10 min prenatal pilates DVD which I'm quite liking at the mo :)

Oh Christ. DH just pointed out a hair growing out of a mole on my face.

I'm that old lady. At 32. Confused

FluffyDucky · 26/05/2013 10:50

Mildred, pluck it quickly before anyone else notices! Hmm

I cannot over gush how much I am loving having energy again! I can actually catch up on my housework today without feeling like I'm going to pass out! I know it's a little sad I'm excited about housework but I don't get out much... Blush

LadyMedea · 26/05/2013 11:31

quiet I'm as unfit as they come due to years of forced resting with CFS/ME, so if I can do it, you can do it! I'm aching today but in all the places that are going to have to support babs as it gets bigger so I'm sure this will help me avoid problems. There were a few things I couldn't do or couldn't hold as long so I just stopped and waited for the next bit, really easy to adjust the intensity. No need to have done yoga before, it just mght take you a couple of goes to work it all out.

Us lumpets have got to do something or we could be in a right state by the end!

yogafan · 26/05/2013 12:37

Hi all, congrats on scans! 4 days until mine...

I was at a wedding yesterday, looking SO obviously preg, luckily no one asked me straight out. Lots of enthusiastic people ask
