Any one else hoping for a 2014 baby?

I'm hesitantly dipping my baby toe in the pool after having a mc last October. I'm 4+2 today with my first and hoping and praying this one sticks.

Here's to 2014!

MissMedusa. I know exactly how you are feeling. Its not easy but the scan is only 4 days away and it sounds like all will be well. i know there isnt much i can say to remove the worry. [Flowers]. But i know what you are going through. Things started going wrong for me about the same time as this Friday coming. By next Tuesday it was over. I have my scan on Saturday and I too am hoping to see that everything is we're it should be and hopefully a little heart beat.

LittlePeaPod · 13/05/2013 07:04

MissMadusa. I am just having DF around for the birth. Having our extended family around will just stress me out even further. My MIL (as much as I love her) is very opinionated and can be overbearing...

enjoyingscience · 13/05/2013 07:07

I think that you should have whoever you feel most comfortable and calm with around you. Absolutely nobody has a right to be there, it's entirely up to you and how you feel. You can also change your mind halfway through!

If she wants to help out after the birth that might be handy, but you don't need to have her there in the room if you don't feel totally happy about it. I think a lot of places only allow one birth partner, so you could just tell her that if you don't want to hurt her feelings?

TobyLerone · 13/05/2013 07:07

Fingers crossed for you, missmakes I'll be thinking of you.

Good luck with your scan, winter!

Got to rush off to take DH to the station, but just wanted to get those in quickly. Back later and then I'll read properly :)

VengefulCrumpet · 13/05/2013 07:49

Hi All
I haven't been on this thread since right at the start - it moves so quickly. Was due on 14th but basically started my period today. I was only a week overdue but had 4 bfps, so I'm assuming I've just had a very early mc. Really gutted as we've been ttc for over 2 years Sad.
Almost wish I hadn't POAS - then I would have just thought my period was late and I wouldn't have got my hopes up!
I don't really think there's any point in me contacting my EPU because I was so early on. What do you guys think?

LittlePeaPod · 13/05/2013 07:59

Vengeful I am so sorry for your lose. It's devastating. Flowers

With regards the EPU, I would contact them to get a scan. Also I think after three mc they do test but the mc have to be confirmed. There are some nurses on here they may be ale to provide better advice on the EPU.

Again I am so sorry Vengeful.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 13/05/2013 08:04

Oh vengeful - I'm so sorry Flowers

I definitely second Pea - think you should contact EPU for investigation. They will probably give a scan. Is and ine in a few weeks to check if all clear, I think.

alteredimages · 13/05/2013 08:05

missmakes hugs and optimism for today and I hope that whatever the outcome you're given support and gentle treatment. It makes such a difference. I'm so glad your Mum will be with you. Flowers

alteredimages · 13/05/2013 08:13

Vengeful I'm sorry I didn't see your message before I posted.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope that you are soon given the baby you deserve. Flowers

Like other posters, I would definitely get checked out at the EPU firstly because it is possible for early bleeding to occur for other reasons, like subchorionic haemotoma (this happened to me with DD at five weeks) and secondly because you might be rhesus negative and need an anti D injection.

extracrunchy · 13/05/2013 08:34

Vengeful, so sorry to hear that. Be kind to yourself xxx

MTBMummy · 13/05/2013 08:54

FX for today missmakes - I do hope the result is a positive one x

So sorry to hear your news Vengeful

Re NCT - our local one seems to only run on week day evenings at 5pm, so absolutely useless to me, I'm already going to have to shift my working days around for midwife appointments, so won't be able to do it for Ante-natal classes as well.

Hand holding for all those not having the best of times x

TobyLerone · 13/05/2013 09:06

Sorry to hear that, Vengeful :(

Wardy17 · 13/05/2013 09:11

Morning ladies hope you all had a good weekend. Sorry about what your going through vengeful don't be too hard on yourself and take it easy.

I make me 6+1 today but the NHS website says I'm 5 weeks, any idea how its calculated? I thought it was from your last period which was 31/03/13 which is why I think I'm 6 weeks. Does it take into account your cycle length?

TobyLerone · 13/05/2013 09:14

The NHS website dates it from your last period, too Confused

Check again.

TobyLerone · 13/05/2013 09:17

I just did it for you, wardy. With a 28 day cycle it says 6 weeks with an EDD of 5th Jan.

SunnySentiments · 13/05/2013 09:22

So sorry Vengeful

FX for all those with scans today Flowers

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 13/05/2013 09:25

Morning all - up at 4:30 to feed DS then two hours of worrying re new baby and DH's practice purchase. Just managed to doze off at 6:30 and DH's bastarding alarm went off at 6:45. He snoozed through but I've been up since then.....grrrrrrr

DS has gone back to bed but I now can't sleep. Is anyone else having this? I'm really worried as I had terrible pregnancy related insomnia with DS from18 weeks. From 30 weeks it was hellish. I was having about 2 broken hours of sleep a night. I'm shattered and could lie down in the road to sleep but as soon as I get in to bed, I'm wide awake.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 13/05/2013 09:26

Actually had more sleep with DS as a newborn than I did when pregnant.

fryingpantoface · 13/05/2013 09:29

I'm sorry about your news vengeful, please take it easy.

I'm joining in! Today I got a positive on an internet cheapy test. It wasn't a shock as such, because I have HORRIFC (that deserves a shout) wind and heartburn which only happens when I'm pregnant.

I miscarried at 11 weeks in October, and we weren't trying for another baby, but apparently it's meant to be. From what I can work out, I'm due somewhere between the 18-25 Jan.

I've told my husband, but no one else. We're gonna get a private scan when i'm 7 weeks to see the heartbeat because we need the extra re-assurance.

Frizz1986 · 13/05/2013 09:41

So sorry to hear vengeful Make sure you look after urself.
Thinking of everyone who is worrying or waiting for news.

My symptoms have completely disappeared today. Hoping it isn't a sign as from what I have read most symptoms only really fully take hold from 6-7 weeks and as i am only 5+3 I think they can come and go. However I have never wished for sickness or sore boobs more. Only thing I seem to have left is slightly sore nipples (only started about 2 days ago) and peeing more than normal.

Off to the midwife on wed tho so sure I will sound like an idiot with all my silly concerns.

MrsAVB · 13/05/2013 09:47

Morning everyone!
Lots of love vengeful and FX for everyone else going for scans today.
I've called in sick today, feel like such a fraud and weakling. I'm wondering if I should go to the GP. Am being sick fairly regularly but I don't think it's anything worse than normal morning sickness; I'm not emptying my stomach when I'm being sick; it's only a couple of mouthfuls, urine is not too dark, and am managing to eat drink small amounts fairly regularly. But I am very tired, sleeping erratically, having nightmares, faint and dizzy. And have just weighed myself for the first time since my BFP and have lost around 5lbs in just under 4 weeks.
Am going to ring NHS direct, but any advice much appreciated.
Thanks for being here guys xxx

Wardy17 · 13/05/2013 09:53

Thanks toby must take into account cycle length because my average was 32 days which comes back at 5 weeks. How do I work that out then? So far just been going on weeks since last period. Now I'm confused!!!

TobyLerone · 13/05/2013 10:03

So if you put 32 days in the 'cycle length' box on the NHS site, it'll adjust accordingly so you're probably more like 5 weeks. Your MW will date from your last period and then they'll go by the scan info after that.

Sorry you're feeling rubbish, MrsAVB :( you poor thing. Your GP might prescribe you something to help.

YoniIfYouSayPlease · 13/05/2013 10:12

Scan in an hour - shitting it isn't the word.

YoniIfYouSayPlease · 13/05/2013 10:19

I'm meant to keep fluid down but my nerves are bringing it right back up again.
