Any one else hoping for a 2014 baby?

I'm hesitantly dipping my baby toe in the pool after having a mc last October. I'm 4+2 today with my first and hoping and praying this one sticks.

Here's to 2014!

Toby the only reason I am holding out (for now) is because I had a scan at 8.5 weeks last time and everything looked perfect, so the time I would consider one would be ten weeks, but then thats only two until 12 weeks and I would still be worried sick at the 12 weeks....

MrsGSR · 12/05/2013 16:29

I wander how she managed to get 3, I don't think she has a history of mcs. I think we're going to pay for an early scan (£95 where we are), we're going home when I'll be 10 weeks, I want to tell family then, but I want to know everything is ok first.

Sultanajo, I've had a few pains like Humpty described, one of my books says that it's the ligaments and muscles stretching out in preparation. Are you in the UK? If so you could ring NHS direct, they might be able to put your mind at ease if nothing else :)

Sultanajo · 12/05/2013 16:31

MrsGSR thanks. Yeah am in the uk, but am sure I know what they will say - stop being paranoid and relax...!Grin

TobyLerone · 12/05/2013 16:35

NHS direct have only ever said the same thing any time I or anyone else has phoned them, about any kind of ailment/injury:

"Go and get it checked out at A&E".

Every time! Waste of time, really.

lovelilies · 12/05/2013 16:36

All you ladies having 'early Sean's (before usual 12 week dating) is this because of previous mcs/ bleeding etc? or have you gone private?
DP is quite keen on private care for us (and he's worked in our local ob/gyn dept.)!! Shock
There is nowhere to go privately near here though, just interested in other's experiences of private v. NHS. Thanks Smile

lovelilies · 12/05/2013 16:38

scans! not Sean's!! Grin

LittlePeaPod · 12/05/2013 16:40

Toby you are right.. They are shit! More likely to have a few shots of tequila down my local than get any sense out of NHs direct..

They ounces told me it would take 12 hours for a nurse to call me back.. Confused

LittlePeaPod · 12/05/2013 16:41

That's a few shots with Jesus....

TobyLerone · 12/05/2013 16:43

12 hours Shock

Re early scan -- we're going private. I've had 2 MMCs and 1 MC in the past, and I can't get an early NHS scan because it's been years since they all happened.
DH also wants one of those creepy 4D scans later on Hmm

Sultanajo · 12/05/2013 16:43

Toby thats my experience too.

love our early scan last time was private. It was a lovely relaxed atmosphere, but I have to say the sonographer was really quite miserable. The NHS sonographers on the other hand were just lovely. I felt rushed at the private scan (although we didnt get pics and a DVD which we wouldnt have got on the NHS), but despite the crappy outcome, my experience of the NHS scan was faultless, but I may just have been lucky who I got....

LittlePeaPod · 12/05/2013 16:43

love even though had mc I have not been offered an early scan by NHS. We are going private. We got a deal for four scans (first on Sat and last at 12 weeks)

Sultanajo · 12/05/2013 16:45

Bless u Toby with your past experiences. Sucks because they werent recent that u cant get an early nhs scan.

TobyLerone · 12/05/2013 16:47

Ah well. We don't mind paying and can afford it. I'd rather they kept the resources available for people who really need them than use them on a neurotic woman like me :o

Sultanajo · 12/05/2013 16:48

Toby Lol at the creepy 4D scan!

Pod that sounds like an interesting deal - ...Wink

lovelilies · 12/05/2013 16:48

Thank you toby, sultana and little... will you be having any other private antenatal care, or just the scans?
The place nearest us (40 miles) does early scans from 7 weeks, but no appointments til mid June! Sad

Foodylicious · 12/05/2013 16:48

I had a private scan booked in for tuesday as i am super nervous, but now have one booked at the early pregnancy unit tomorrow as i had some worry symptoms and sudden 'lack of' symptoms a few days ago and got myself into a right state.
I found the places near me that do early scans private by googling early scan and location, have you tried that? the one i was going to is a clinic not a hospital.
7 weeks for me too on weds toby & saltana fx and Biscuit & Brew till then

LittlePeaPod · 12/05/2013 16:48

Toby yes 12 hours and I had told them I was prgnanant and bleeding..... DF took me to A&E about an hour later as i was doubled over in agony and they took me in straight away and sent me to get scan etc. Must say the A&E team were fantastic.

LittlePeaPod · 12/05/2013 16:49

NHS Direct make me really Angry now...

LittlePeaPod · 12/05/2013 16:51

Sultanajo yes Grin normally £80 for one scan but you can get 4 for £260. But you have to take all before 13 weeks..

TobyLerone · 12/05/2013 16:51

That does sound like an interesting deal, pod.

I don't think I'll have any other private antenatal care. I'm happy with the NHS care I've received in the past.

Good luck for tomorrow, foody. Let us know how you get on!

Sultanajo · 12/05/2013 16:54

Foody good luck with yr scan tomorrow! Fingers firmly crossed all is ok.

Pod the one and only time I have called them, they didnt tell me anything I wasnt already aware of and when I ended up at the emergency walk in clinic on their suggestion (non preg related) the doc was completely rude and basically scoffed at the advice nhs direct had given me and made me feel like a total tit for wasting her time!!!

MrsGSR · 12/05/2013 16:54

I've had one good eperience with NHS direct, but it sounds as if I just got lucky! Maybe it's not a good idea to ring them, with pregnancy hormones it could end badly!

Sultanajo · 12/05/2013 16:56

They wouldnt have to tell me twice to take them all before 13 weeks Pod.

Sultanajo · 12/05/2013 16:57

MrsGSR especially as they record all their calls!!!

LittlePeaPod · 12/05/2013 16:58

foody good luck tomorrow very jealous Smile

Sultanajo all I have to say about NHS Direct is Angry Angry

Toby I am neurotic... Ha ha ha

love we are considering going under a specialist that has a fantastic reputation in Leeds (40 mins from our house) of caring for ladies that are pregnant and have suffered mc historically. He also delivers the baby and does c-section if required. Will decide after 12 weeks as I am pretty neurotic at the moment and its not cheap.. Blush
