Any one else hoping for a 2014 baby?

I'm hesitantly dipping my baby toe in the pool after having a mc last October. I'm 4+2 today with my first and hoping and praying this one sticks.

Here's to 2014!

re finding out we haven't discussed, but I think we'll probably wait and see. I'd love to know (impatient) but I've always thought it would be something to keep me going through the worst of labour - I love surprises!

alteredimages · 12/05/2013 14:26

Hi LittlePeaPod

Sorry to hear about your previous mc and good wishes for this separate pregnancy.

I can talk to SIL but we hadn't announced the pregnancy anyway for other reasons and were planning to wait til the summer. Obviously now is not the time but don't want her to think I'd been deliberately hiding it from her either.

LittlePeaPod · 12/05/2013 14:35

Altered thank you although will never forget other pregnancy, I am very lucky to be pregnant again so quickly. I am sure she will understand and won't think you deliberately hid it from her. Not telling you what to do but if I were in your position I would tell her first in private before announcing it to the whole family when you are ready in the summer. Just to give her time to deal with any emotions it will bring up.

winterpansy · 12/05/2013 14:41

Oh my goodness, this thread moves so fast. Haven't time to read all but hope everyone is doing well. Hi to all the newcomers.

Proper morning sickness has kicked in here - in the middle of the night and first thing this morning. Added to DS stinky nappies = serious vomit!

Feeling better now, thankfully.

Just on the countdown to scan on Friday. I am seeing a couple of friends this week who know we're ttc and have small children so I bet I won't be able to keep a straight face when they ask about it!

Hope you're all having a great weekend and not too sick/tired/achey x

TobyLerone · 12/05/2013 15:23

Hi altered :)

winter, sorry to hear about your sickness. How many weeks will you be when you have your scan on Friday? You'll have to let me know what you can see -- I'm going to book our private one soon.

Nausea has begun here possibly exacerbated by 2 rounds of cheese and pickle toasties for breakfast.
It started just as I was getting ready to go to DS's end of season rugby presentation, which made standing for an hour in a smelly, hot rugby club in the presence of my XH a real joy!

YoniIfYouSayPlease · 12/05/2013 15:28

creeps in

Hello,
I feel like a bit of a fraud on the December thread, I'm 7 weeks tomorrow and EDD is 30th December.

Can I come play with you instead :)

I've got hyperemesis and no female friends IRL (aspie) :(

LittlePeaPod · 12/05/2013 15:28

Winter good luck for Friday. I have an early scan on Saturday - will be 6+4 so think I get an internal.

Toby sorry to hear you are feeling poorly.

LittlePeaPod · 12/05/2013 15:30

YoniIfYou welcome and congratulations on your gorgeous BFP.. Flowers

YoniIfYouSayPlease · 12/05/2013 15:34

Thanks.

I have a scan tomorrow after a slight bleed at 5+4. Nervous and excited at the same time. DP's mum works in A&E so if all is well we shall wander down there after to tell her.

Had cramping since day one so a bit fearful but I'm sure it will be ok. Anyone else had this?

TobyLerone · 12/05/2013 15:34

Hi Yoni :) I'm a secret fraud too because my MW told me the other day that my due date is actually 31st Dec instead of 1st Jan like I originally thought. I'm certain that a scan will date me around 5th Jan, though, as I ovulated late.
Sorry to hear about your hyperemesis :( It must be awful.

I'm ok, pod, thanks :) Feel better now I'm home and in my pjs Blush

TobyLerone · 12/05/2013 15:36

I've had on and off cramping since before my BFP too. My MW assures me it's normal as long as it's not very painful.

YoniIfYouSayPlease · 12/05/2013 15:42

Ah, You see I ovulate around day CD10, so I think I will have a christmas baby :)

extracrunchy · 12/05/2013 15:57

Liking hearing all about the normal cramping!

Hi everyone, hope you're having lovely Sundays.

Feeling more positive today, POAS twice last couple of days, still positive, still no bleeding (yet), and feel proper grim, so am trying really hard to decide early US just showed I had my dates skewy. Scan on Monday 20th to decide... Fingers crossed!!

Sultanajo · 12/05/2013 16:02

Altered huge congrats! I started the day feeling really positive but now this afternoon feeling tearful and panicky. I am getting a pain lower left hand side of abdo, which feels like ovulation pain. Not sharp and not crampy, just niggly. I have had it before during this preg, but the reason its now making me feel suddenly neurotic is that I had it also around the time they discovered my mmc at the 12 week scan and now cant bear the thought of it happening again. Going to be 7 weeks on Wednesday....this is my first proper wobble since my bfp and feel like I will be a crazy woman by the 12 week scan....arghhh! Blush

TobyLerone · 12/05/2013 16:03

Glad to hear it, extra :)

MrsGSR · 12/05/2013 16:06

Good luck to everyone whos having scans over the next few days/weeks! Fx everything is ok.

On the subject, how many u/s are usual? My SIL is due in October and has had 3 scans already, but reading about it online it sounds as if you usually only have 2, at 12w and 20w, or am I reading it completely wrong? First baby so a bit clueless! I've read loads of books but none of them explained the NHS to me!

I'm definately feeling a bit neurotic, it's been a tough year so I'm having trouble believing that something this good can happen!

Sultanajo · 12/05/2013 16:06

extra thats great that u feel grim and positive! Wink xx

TobyLerone · 12/05/2013 16:06

Can you call the EPU or something tomorrow, sultana?

I don't know what ovulation pain feels like but I've had a few sharpish pains on one side or the other the last few days. We're exactly as pg as each other (I'll be 7 weeks on weds too), so maybe that sets your mind a little at rest?

TobyLerone · 12/05/2013 16:07

2 scans is normal for UK NHS, but I had 5 with DD!

LittlePeaPod · 12/05/2013 16:09

Extra nice to hear you so positive. I have read so many comments from other ladies having cramps. It's seem to be very common..

Sultanajo I am sure everything is ok. It's understandable to have a wobble at some point having had a mmc. I am sure we will all have a moment or in my case several before our 12 week scans.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 12/05/2013 16:12

cramps wise, me too - on and off, nothing unbearable, not even really painful just achey. I'm not concerned - but I POAS every morning for reassurance Grin - still on the ICs, but this habit might get expensive soon when I run out!
I had one really bad one, v low down on left hand side when I stood up too fast, but it was like pulling a muscle, and doc said it was probably a ligament stretching out.

Hugs to those who are worrying!

Sultanajo · 12/05/2013 16:12

Thanks Toby. Yes it is reassuring, although I wont relax til the scan. If my nausea suddenly ups and leaves as it did last time then I will call the epu. Part of me really wants an early scan, but if I had one then I would start to want them weekly until 12 weeks and thats obviously not an option! The other part of me doesnt want to know if something has gone wrong again which is ridiculous really.

Am sure its just my hormones making me an emotional wreck. Will be fine tomorrow I am sure. Thanks for the support Toby. X

LittlePeaPod · 12/05/2013 16:13

MrsGSR. From what I have read 2 scans only on NHS (12 weeks and 20weeks). But you can get private scans if you want (£80 were we live).

TobyLerone · 12/05/2013 16:15

I know how horrid it is. MMCs are so cruel because you have no sign that anything is wrong. So you are constantly worrying.

I think you're very strong to be trying to hold out for 12 weeks for a scan. I can't do it!

Sultanajo · 12/05/2013 16:17

Thanks Pod & Humpty. I had that too Humpty with the pain low down on getting up too fast yesterday.

Ok this crazy lady is taking deep breaths and slapping herself with a wet fish.

Thank you ladies! I feel very lucky to have such a lovely bunch to talk things through with. Hugs to you all! X
