Any one else hoping for a 2014 baby?

I'm hesitantly dipping my baby toe in the pool after having a mc last October. I'm 4+2 today with my first and hoping and praying this one sticks.

Here's to 2014!

Poor you Toby, I hope you feel better soon. Hello to all the new ladies too!

Is anyone else waking up at stupid o'clock every morning? I'm so tired. Spent yesterday evening at work drinks on the tonic water, with all my colleagues joking that I must be up the duff. Eek! They followed that with a gruesome discussion of the use of forceps in their wives labours. Double eek!

Happy Friday everyone.

MTBMummy · 10/05/2013 08:14

Morning Ladies,

Lovelilies I think it's a guy thing dc2 was very much DP's idea and we've been ttc for a while now. But he's completely underwhelmed by the whole BFP, and keeps saying he'll get excited when he knows it's real - Erm a BFP is real, surely?

pea I'm pretty sure you can request a c-section. I had an emcs the first time, I'd happily have another, but my only concern is that if you go elective they do it at 38 weeks, and I really want to go at least full term. Dd was induced at 42+1. And I think the extra time really helped her -if that make any sense.

Hope you feel better toby just chill and relax

I've been having awful nights sleep for the last week now, my back aches so much and I cannot get comfortable, thankfully thick winter socks prevented the being woken up by freezing feet last night. I'm gutted I saile through my last pregnancy, only discovered I was pg at 14 weeks! But this time I'm tired, I ache constantly and I feel quite nauseas first am last thing - DP says its just because I'm old this time (I love him so much sometimes :-( )

chocoloulou33 · 10/05/2013 08:15

Get well soon toby I have docs appointment this morning eek. Starting to feel real now. OH insists on coming too! X

Frizz1986 · 10/05/2013 08:53

Get well soon toby
choc you'll have to let me know what the docs is like. I have a midwife app on wed and am excited as i think it might feel real then, but i don't know what to expect.
Have made a list of questions and how I am feeling/symptoms just so she can confirm it's nothing unusual. Am off on honeymoon in 2 weeks so just want reassurance that as long as I am careful all will be ok as well.
Anyone else finding their sickness is running like clockwork? Havent got it much yet but feel awful every night at 10-10:30pm so have to have something to nibble before bed.
Also I really didn't think I was getting tired but fell asleep on the sofa at 9:20 last night for an hour and then slept right through the night. I even missed the other half eating crumpets and taking photos of me snoozing in an unusual position!

MrsAVB · 10/05/2013 09:08

So today is the day I've started actually being sick, rather than just feeling it. Not an improvement. Seriously considered calling in sick today but thought that was too wimpy and have way too much to do. Hope everyone is doing ok, and love to those who are feeling crap too. xxx

Frizz1986 · 10/05/2013 09:54

Oh no mrsavb
At least it's a reminder that u are pg! How are along are u? I am waiting to see if i will suffer or not.

chocoholicalcoholic · 10/05/2013 10:43

Oh no MrsAVB! I hope you're feeling a bit brighter now? Only one day to get through then it's the weekend. To be honest I don't think I'm far behind you on the voming, been doing some proper gagging these last few days. Bleurgh. Take it easy Smile

Sultanajo · 10/05/2013 10:45

Argh MrsAVB! I am so sorry for you! I am really hoping mine doesnt progress to actual vomming but I fear it might as I dry heaved brushing my teeth this morning! Shock

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 10/05/2013 11:06

Morning ladies!
toby can you curl up on the sofa and watch Gilmore Girls? Hope you feel better, poor you.

MrsAVB sorry to hear about the vomming - can you cover it up at work? I hope you feel slightly better, you poor love.

I am off to the docs in 20 mins - going to ask him why I have lost my marbles - driving lesson last night, I was like a beginner all over again. Stalled, turned the wrong way, couldn't find bite, etc. My instructor was like ---> Hmm because I was pretty okay (test is Tues, I MUST concentrate by then, cannot afford another £64 down the drain!)

TobyLerone · 10/05/2013 11:15

Ugh. Poor MrsAVB :(

I feel a bit sick today, but I did have McDonalds breakfast, so that could be why Hmm

Thanks for all the good wishes. I had to give in and take a couple of paracetamol, because it was that or chop my head off. I've been to get the new tyres on the car and managed not to blab to my mum. Also saw my 18mo nephew, who always cheers me up. Now it's sofa, honey/lemon/ginger (thanks for the tip, pod!) and This Morning they're doing maternity fashion with Abbey Clancey ( Hmm ) in a minute, so I'll report back on what we should all be wearing if we want to look like a footballer's wife--.

My beautiful DH makes the best honey and lemon and I'm sad he's not here! This one's crap.

TobyLerone · 10/05/2013 11:24

Right, so apparently we can choose between looking like Kate Middleton (obviously) in a tea dress, Kim Kardashian in a horrible waistcoat and leggings, Halle Berry in jeans and a parka, or Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas in a nasty Isabella Oliver waterfall mac and flowery leggings.

Ladies, we're screwed Hmm

BookTart · 10/05/2013 11:43

Ye gods Toby! We'll all just have to spend the next 8 months indoors with the curtains closed by the sound of it!

MTBMummy · 10/05/2013 12:13

I typically by sligtly over sized tunics to wear with skinny jeans, and I'm hoping I can wear those a fair way into my pregnancy before I give in to maternity wear. I am determined I'm going to do the less frumpy look this time round.

That said it's just dawned on me, that I have a few public speaking engagements booked in for Nov/Dec, so I'm going to have to find something that looks stylish and professional for those.

Also have a wedding to go to (why was it the last time I had a wedding to attend i was heavily pg with DD?)

On the plus side, have been musing with DP about Xmas - yes I know it's miles off, but I'm hoping that being due 3 weeks after Xmas will mean I won't have to travel 6 hours each way to spend it with PIL's

Pidgy · 10/05/2013 12:27

Hello all!
Thanks to LittlePeaPod for inviting me over from another thread.

In a state of denial about my BFP.
To be honest it's come as a bit of a shock so have quite mixed feelings, which makes me feel terrible. Had a sense of 'what have we done' with my first and he was planned! That didn't last long though before I was super excited and embracing the whole pregnancy thing. :-)
And now I have a beautiful 11 month old. I just cannot explain how much I love him!! :-)

Sorry for the slightly negative introduction! I'm not usually like this! Just feeling a bit overwhelmed as I'm due back to work in the next few weeks as I'm currently on maternity leave, and leaving my ds in childcare whilst heading back to the office feeling tired, sick and emotional is not exactly what I wanted.

But, at the same time, this is a blessing and the more I think about it, the more I know we will cope and it will be lovely. As a wise woman once told me (my mum!), there is never a 'right' or easy time to have a baby.

Hope everyone with sickness is coping ok. I found it was worse last time if I was hungry, and for some strange reason found cheese helped. It hasn't kicked in yet this time.
I'm feeling pretty tired but not sure if that's the pregnancy or from ds waking me every night this week!! Maybe he's sensed something's up and wants to reaffirm his position!

BuntCadger · 10/05/2013 12:31

Hi, I got a postive test yesterday (a bit shocked but happy). Can I join? Smile

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 10/05/2013 12:51

Hello bunt and pidgy!

Doc was fine - I asked him not to tell me my weight (have NO desire to know how fat I am much I weigh, as long it's under a BMI of 30 - it was, apparently - PHEW), but he was v sweet.
Referred me to Royal London for midwife booking-in & scan, as I read somewhere on MN that they were pretty good (as E London hospitals go).
He said at this stage you only need folic acid, and only to 12 weeks. Papaya is fine, if ripe (I did get a Hmm for that one), but pineapple best avoided to be totally 100% safe.

toby feel better, and MrsAVB hope you're not still worshipping at the porcelain throne... xx

Frizz1986 · 10/05/2013 12:59

Welcome bunt and pidgy
Thanks humpty for the pineapple news. I need to get me a long list as I am such a foodie and need to start trying to remember what I can't have.
Am going out for tapas with my work in 2 weeks and they know what food I eat so am going to have to be clever disguising the fact that i am avoiding certain foods.
Do u think the midwife will have a leaflet of foods or is it best to just print something from the nhs site?

extracrunchy · 10/05/2013 13:06

So my crampy pains got worse last night (no bleeding) and I went for an early scan this morning. Either I'm much earlier on than I thought (5 weeks or so - due 10/1/14) or baby isn't growing. Got to go for another one in 2 weeks to decide which. Sad Feel like utter crap.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 10/05/2013 13:17

frizz I wrote down the NHS website list and stuck it on the fridge! I didn't get anything from docs, no idea about website.

extra oh you poor poor love. Here's a MASSIVE hug and some chocolate. How many weeks did you think you were? I know it's impossible (since I do nothing but) but try not to worry. With luck, this will be something you look back on and laugh/smile at, or tell newbies to reassure them. If you are just not as far on, then that's okay, isn't it? If the baby's not growing, that could just be laziness? I am INCREDIBLY lazy, and fully expect any embryo of mine to be fast asleep at all possible times and way behind on deadlines... Grin Hope you can take it easy today and cheer yourself up. Thinking of you.

BohoZenMummy · 10/05/2013 13:50

Hi all,
why can't we eat pineapple??! I just bought one!

I'm not really feeling sick, just really spaced out / bloated / and have crampy pains in my lower abdomen. My heart goes out to the nauseous ladies, I had it bad last time, not fun.

Am also considering a home birth. Had a ventouse last time, but that shouldn't be a contraindication should it? GP wouldn't give me an appointment til end of next week, when I'll be 7 weeks. I booked it when I was 5 weeks!

Am getting married in a couple of weeks (already planned before the BFP!), so whilst it'll mean no champagne, it will mean waking up with a clear head the morning after Wink.

Sultanajo · 10/05/2013 13:50

extra! Huge huge hugs! It majorly sucks when a scan for reassurance does the exact opposite and now you have another two week wait.... My thoughts are with u and I really hope your little bean is worrying you for nothing. Xxx

BohoZenMummy · 10/05/2013 13:56

extra - big hug, thinking of you. Try to just take things one day at a time x

Sultanajo · 10/05/2013 13:56

Congratulations on your wedding Boho. Will keep everything crossed nausea keeps away until after u have tied the knot!

Well Tesco food shopping was an experience just now. Went round taking deep breaths and hoping not to vom or pass out. Then the lady in front of me decided to pay for her whole shop in £1 coins can u believe? She took soooo long! I think I may have lost it if she has lost count and started again!

I cant believe pineapple is out considering thats about the only fruit I am not allergic to. Typical! Am really craving watermelon at the moment which I am also allergic to. Feels a tad unfair that this bean is making me crave it!!!

Sultanajo · 10/05/2013 13:58

Welcome Bunt and Pidgy to our ever growing bunch! X

BookTart · 10/05/2013 13:59

Oh extra that must be horrible. Is it a bit early for them to definitely see something though? Things are probably still all okay, you might just be 5 weeks or so in which case they definitely wouldn't see much. Have a big hug from me too, and hang on in there (I know this is far easier said than done) X
