Any one else hoping for a 2014 baby?

I'm hesitantly dipping my baby toe in the pool after having a mc last October. I'm 4+2 today with my first and hoping and praying this one sticks.

Here's to 2014!

Hello Lovelilies

Men are funny creatures aren't they? I wouldn't worry to much. My DH was definitely in shock for a good 24 hrs after our BFP. After a day at work he came back with a bunch of flowers and smiling ear to ear. I think it just takes time for it to sink in. Flowers

lovelilies · 09/05/2013 20:54

Thank you sunny, I know I'm probably bu, but I think we're allowed at 4 weeks pregnant! (Daren't put this on aibu, for fear of being flamed!)
Watched Peter Kay for a bit, not so Sad now. I feel a bit all at sea, especially because I might not have anywhere to live soon if ky house sells and we haven't found anywhere! Ah, these things were sent to try us Wink

LittleBallOfFur · 09/05/2013 21:04

Hello please can I join? Found out last week I'm pregnant with second child - a bit unexpected as we hadn't planned on properly trying until this month and it took us 14 months to conceive ds!

Have had some bleeding though this week and mild cramping. Think I did have similar with ds but still worrying :(

Frizz1986 · 09/05/2013 21:04

Congrats lovelilies on the bfp!
Men are strange creatures. My dh is still in shock and we got our bfp on Monday. Every now and then tho he rubs my belly and does a little smile so he must be happy and excited. Think it will be real for him once I get a bump or he sees a scan (or when he tells his mum as she will freak out with it being the first grandchild) because its not like he can feel all the weird goings on that I can.

MrsAVB · 09/05/2013 21:12

Hey all. Feeling fed up and sorry for myself this evening. I really hope feeling this tired and nauseous doesn't last. Am feeling like life as I know it is over if I am going to feel shit all pregnancy! And scared I am never going to be "myself" again if tired, sick and emotional all pregnancy, and then a mum! A tad melodramatic I know - somebody give me a hooya, or a wet fish in the face.
Changing the subject... (And I know it's early days) is anyone else considering a home birth? Or has done it before?

Sultanajo · 09/05/2013 21:20

Mrs AVB it's like you are in my head. Feeling EXACTLY the same and know I am in for a rough night as heartburn from hell has decided to add itself to the ridiculously knackered and horrendous nausea that have decided to join the party tonight! Just running a bath to try and feel better before propping myself up with ten pillows to try and get some sleep.... Not often I feel really down and I KNOW it will all be worth it, but as you say, I can't imagine what it feels to feel "well" and worried it will carry on for weeks and weeks.

Keep telling myself if it means the bubba is OK then it's a sacrifice I am willing to make (although it's soooo hard)...

I would love to be brave enough for a home birth, but I fear I may need drugs as am quite a wimp with pain and also I would like to be somewhere they can act quickly if things weren't going according to plan, so the plan at the moment is hospital (although I may change my mind nearer the time)....

Congraulations to all the new bfps!!! x

Sultanajo · 09/05/2013 21:26

Lovelilies men don't get us sometimes do they? As Sunny and Frizz have said, he may be dealing with the "shock" of it in his own way and just need a bit of space to process his thoughts. Despite the fact that we were trying, my DH was certainly shocked (and I was too when I realised the reality of what we had done). I have not overloaded him with info this time and he is coming up with questions now a few times a week, so I know he is thinking about it. It must be hard for them to think of it as real until they see something tangible. It wasn't until our first scan last time that I saw some emotion in him and he started to realise it was real (to be honest I was the same, depsite feeling rough). It's a very odd feeling and despite being desperate to be preggers, I have had the odd moment of "OMG, this is really it. What was I thinking". It's perfectly normal with the fabulous hormones raging all over the place!

TobyLerone · 09/05/2013 21:36

Oooh, I'd love a home birth. I'm not sure they'll let me because my last 2 were induced at 42 weeks, but all things being well I'll seriously consider it.

LittlePeaPod · 09/05/2013 21:51

Good evening ladies,

Wow don't even know where to start reading.... I normally wouldn't be so rude and not read through all posts but I have been snowed under today at work. Left at 7.30am and got home at 8.30pm add that to the pregnancy tiredness.... I am exhausted. I wanted to say, thank you for your lovely comments regarding th wedding. I can't remember who advised me to start a thread on it. Well I have and thank you for the great idea. Also I can't remember who posted the wedding dress link. Thank you to you too.

And congratulations to all new ladies with gorgeous BFPs. Flowers

All the ladies feeling really poorly. i hope you start feeling better soon.

Lovelillies. Sorry you feel sad. But the others are right men ar strange. Example, one of my closest friends has been with her DP for 11 years. For 9 of those years he was desperate to have kids and wouldnt stop banging on about it but she wasn't ready. 2 years ago she said right lets get pregnant and guess what? Yes he freaked and now his the one putting off having a child Confused. Men are from Mars and women are from Venus.

LittlePeaPod · 09/05/2013 21:53

With regards giving birth.. Can you opt for a C Section or do you only get that in emergency situations only? C-Setion for me and if not then loads of drugs... Ha ha ha Blush I can't cope with pain...

Sultanajo · 09/05/2013 21:55

Yeay Pea! So pleased your wedding thread worked! How very exciting! What an awesome year you are going to have and your little bubs will be at your wedding too which will make it all the more special!

Sultanajo · 09/05/2013 21:57

Im with you Pea! My friend is due on saturday and another in a few weeks and I think I am more nervous than they are!!! X

lovelilies · 09/05/2013 21:59

Thank you everyone, had a long chat on the phone with dp, I do understand (kind of) that he's scared - his words, not mine, even though it was actually him wanting a baby, the little boy in him, he's 41 by the way!, wants to hide behind the sofa... this is his first dc, and is totally flapping. Good job we have til January to get used to it! I'll just be glad when we have our own place and can start being a normalish family Smile

LittlePeaPod · 09/05/2013 22:00

Ha ha ha.. I am so scared. Watched the babes in the woods programme on Sky Sultanajo and I nearly passed out... The screening in pain bit didn't help either. X

Sultanajo · 09/05/2013 22:04

Oh blimey Pea! Glad one born has finished as think that would finish me off now I am actually gonna have to go through it myself!

Great you had a good chat Love. At least he is telling you how he feels - thats huge as they so often clam up! Communication between u is definitely the way forward. I reckon one day u will look back and say to him "do u remember when you totally freaked out?" Smile

enjoyingscience · 09/05/2013 22:06

I'd love a home birth, but we'll see how we go. I managed last time with just a tens machine, and it was pretty quick, but I don't think lightening strikes twice so I'm expecting this time to be more like hard work!

chocoholicalcoholic · 09/05/2013 22:10

Welcome new ladies and congratulations!

Glad you've had a chat with your dp lovelilies. He will be fine, it is a lot to take in isn't it? Being scared is totally normal. We are scared with ours too and it'll be our third!

MrsAVB I had a homebirth with DC2. Totally unplanned mind! It was amazing.

LittlePeaPod · 09/05/2013 22:15

Arrr.... Toby really happy for you that your MW appointment went well. Also great news to hear that the cramps are normal. I bet that has helped a lot of people.

MissMedusa if you keep googling you will soon be publishing a Dr. Google dos and donts. Step away from the google.. Wink

Choco not sure whether to say congratulations on the sickness or send you hugs. I am still waiting for the sickness to arrive..

Winter. There are loads of twins in my family. My brother and sister are twins and two sets of uncles on my mums side. My grandma had twin siblings too. So it could happen to me but trying not to think about that as I would pap myself...

Really sorry if I missed anyone but I am getting all blurry visioned as so tired. I shall bid you all Good Night my fellow ladies heading to destination new year babies.... Grin

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 09/05/2013 22:41

Seconding the too tired to read properly thing - I fell asleep three times on the sofa tonight, at 8.45pm. Like a nanna. FFS.

lovelilies sorry your DP is being an arse, give him time - they usually come round. Even though they ought to be perfect from NOW. Like us Grin.

Doctor's appt in morning for me, am expecting referral to midwives, and some info. I shall ask about fruits, if anyone's worried.
Night all.

TobyLerone · 10/05/2013 06:15

Morning all.

I am sooooo tired. Worst night's sleep ever. And I'm lurgyed right up! My throat is killing me, I'm snotty, my ears hurt, my sinuses are really painful and I've got a headache.

I have to go out this morning and meet my mum for breakfast while I get new tyres put on my car and I'm scared I'm going to trip myself up. She asked me if I wanted to go out with her and my sis yesterday and I couldn't because I had the MW. So I told her that I was seeing the dr again re the tonsillitis. Then she wanted to know what they'd said, so I had to make something up. Now I have to see her and she'll be shocked that they didn't give me antibiotics (she's a nurse).

Oh, what a tangled web we weave, eh? I really hate all this lying. I am terrible at it :(

Have a good appointment, Humpty :)

LittlePeaPod · 10/05/2013 06:23

Morning ladies. I must say, normally I am a real light sleeper but now, I am having the best nights sleep I can remember having for a long time.

Ohhhh IT'S FRIDAY and I have the dy off. DF, SIL, BIL and I are away this weekend. So looking forward to it as the are one of three couples that know. And SIL s 18 weeks pregnant so I can talk pregnancy all day for a change.......... What have you ladies got planned for the weekend?

Humpty good luck with the docs..

LittlePeaPod · 10/05/2013 06:27

Toby. Posted before reading your note. I am so sorry you feel so rubbish. I hope you start feeling better soon. Flowers. I know what you mean about the lies. At the moment I am simply avoiding people. My excuse, "work deadlines" which is totally believable. I really hope you start feeling better own..

TobyLerone · 10/05/2013 06:37

Yay for a day off! Enjoy your weekend away, pod :)

Nothing planned for us this weekend. Have to do a bit of shopping for DS because he's going on a school trip to France on Tuesday. Other than that...vegging, I think!

chocoholicalcoholic · 10/05/2013 06:38

Ahhh poor you Toby, bless you, look after yourself and get well soon.

Good luck Humpty.

LittlePeaPod · 10/05/2013 06:54

Toby veging is the thing for you to do. Wrap up in some cosies. Get some fresh ginger, fresh lemon and runny honey hot drinks down you. i find it helps when i get real sore throats but there is nothing bad for baby in it. Watch lots of trash on TV and rest....
