Any one else hoping for a 2014 baby?

I'm hesitantly dipping my baby toe in the pool after having a mc last October. I'm 4+2 today with my first and hoping and praying this one sticks.

Here's to 2014!

Welcome and congratulations bunt and pidgy!

Bug hugs to you, extra. Stay as positive as you can. Thinking of you.

BohoZenMummy - I had a ventouse delivery with my first then went on to have a very fast homebirth with my second, hope that helps.

Yonionekanobe · 10/05/2013 14:36

Welcome to everyone! I've been away for a week (well working too hard) and see there is lots of news.

Sending big hugs to extra Flowers

Mrs AVB huge sympathy for the sickness. I'm not actually being sick but the nausea is horrible and like you wok is too busy to take time out. I'm working from home today and am so tempted to take a nap but will regret it when the to do list just grows whilst I sleep.

I had my first scan today to check it wasn't another Ectopic (although have had DD sine that). All looking well. They have changed the scanner since I had DD and I got a good look around!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 10/05/2013 14:39

Pineapple - has bromelaine, which can soften the cervix. But you have to eat a lot to have an effect. I'm the most cautious person ever (I haven't had any caffeine, wine or anything even slightly risky!) so won't have any, at least not until 12 weeks, but I know I am probably way too cautious. HTH.

SpecificDreamRabbit · 10/05/2013 14:50

Hello everyone, I?m so excited to join you all! Grin I got my bfp two days ago, at 12dpo, and I have been feeling a bit like a loon ever since! Myself and my partner have bought a new house and only moved in just over a week ago, so it?s all been a bit overwhelming ? though in a good way.

According to the NHS website, I am due 15th January, so I am already looking forward to lounging around the house like a whale while my partner does all the cooking and only pauses to feed me mince pies.

This is my first baby, and we have been trying for eight cycles, so I am both relieved and very happy. I have fibroids in the wall of my uterus, and I hoped that they wouldn?t interfere with my fertility, but I had no way of knowing for sure!

I guess I?d better make an appointment to see the GP now?! I don?t even have a GP right now, since I only just moved! Will have to put that on my to-do list?

Right now I don?t have any major symptoms, just lots of niggly ones? odd cramps in the tummy, sore boobs, occasional waves of dizziness and light nausea. But as I?m only just over four weeks, I?m sure there?s loads to come!

Is anyone else planning on holding off on telling everyone until 12 weeks? I am seeing my mother this weekend and it's going to be a real challenge not telling her, I think, but at the same time I'd rather wait until I'm a little further along until I do.

Anyway, enough waffle ? looking forward to getting to know you all! Flowers

SpecificDreamRabbit · 10/05/2013 14:51

Obviously the lounging around like a whale and being fed mince pies refers to Christmas, although I am quite capable of just lounging around like a lump at any other time as well, I'll admit! Grin

LittlePeaPod · 10/05/2013 15:00

Extra. Sorry to hear about your scan. You could have ovulated late which would explain the weeks. Flowers

Boho well come, congratulations and good luck for the wedding.

Pidgy yeeeeeeeaaaaaa and nice to see you on here. Congratulations again...

LittlePeaPod · 10/05/2013 15:05

Congratulations Specific on your BFP....

TobyLerone · 10/05/2013 15:19

Welcome bunt, pidgy and specific :)

extra, you poor thing :( What a worry for you. Have you POAS? It's not foolproof, but it might reassure you a bit while you wait.

Yonionekanobe · 10/05/2013 16:20

When I was overdue with DD the is wife told me I would have to eat 250 pineapples in a few hours for it to have any effect! Grin

TobyLerone · 10/05/2013 16:22

I heard it was 8, including skin and stalk. Either way, not possible!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 10/05/2013 16:30

specific congrats and welcome! I too am looking forward to loungin, eating mince pies and being a whale!

extra I think you should take toby's suggestion and POAS. Hugs.

SpecificDreamRabbit · 10/05/2013 16:52

Thanks for the welcomes Smile Got to admit, it's kind of hard to keep my attention on work at the moment - roll on hometime!

Am only just catching up with the thread; sorry to hear your news, extra, I have my fingers and toes crossed that you just ovulated late and that all is well.

Haha, ew, Toby, the skin and stalk too? I can just imagine how tasty THAT would be... Wink

And glad to hear that it's not just me, Humpty, who's looking forward to whale-like lounging! Mind you, it probably won't be half as fun as it sounds... it occurred to me, as I wallowed in the bath yesterday, that I'd probably need a hoist to get me out of it when I'm a bit further along...

Frizz1986 · 10/05/2013 16:58

Flowers big hugs extra Got my fx for u hoping that all works out well.
Big welcome to all other bfps!

TobyLerone · 10/05/2013 17:00

I've just remembered that I ovulated late, too. I know when I ovulated because I was using OPKs. That's worth remembering if there are any discrepancies. Thanks for the reminder!

What are you all having for dinner. We were going to have potato, leek and gruyere rosti with fried eggs, but I feel RUBBISH and don't really fancy anything at all.

Maybe another couple of paracetamol will help...

MrsAVB · 10/05/2013 17:01

Welcome and congrats pidgy, bunt and specific
thanks for all your sympathy re. the vomming everyone. I haven't been sick since this morning, but really nauseous all day and have that crampy stomach feeling you get when you're being sick a lot. I can't remember who asked, but I'm 5+4. Am glad I went to work today as have been busy and so it was probably a distraction. Am worried as have a few important early morning meetings next week when I'll need to be coherent, together and impressive. But I didn't feel this bad in my last 2 pregnancies when I miscarried at 6-7 weeks so am clinging onto that as a good sign.
extra, lots of love... Thinking of you xxx
Does anyone know if you need a special form before you can get free dentistry? Xxx

MrsAVB · 10/05/2013 17:04

toby I've been to sainsburys twice today, once came out with nothing as nearly vommed, now have got chicken burgers and chips. Would never usually have something so unhealthy but non-beige foods are not appealing. I will make sure I have plenty of veg with it though!
Am worried about not eating enough with feeling vommy. All I've had since the breakfast I vommed is dry oatcakes, dry ryvita, and cuppa soup.

TobyLerone · 10/05/2013 17:12

Don't worry about what you're eating for now, MrsAVB. The baby will take what it needs. It's only you who'll suffer, you poor thing!

I've been to 2 supermarkets today, too. I meal plan, so I didn't need anything, but the first time I bought 2 bars of the new Maltesers chocolate (and have eaten loads already Blush ) and the second I bought lemons. They're not going to feed DH!

Yonionekanobe · 10/05/2013 17:19

Have to go out for curry tonight as family over from the States want to try one of our wonderful local curry houses. I am knackered and just want to sleep and am not hungry at all :(

MrsAVB I had a dental check up last week and the dentist just gave me a form to wave the fee. You can apply for an exemption card via midwife or GP later on and your details will all get matched up in the system.

SpecificDreamRabbit · 10/05/2013 17:23

I'm not sure what I'm having for dinner, as my partner is cooking tonight... Right now, though, my troubles aren't nausea but feeling like some bugger has punched me in the chest! I'll have your rosti, Toby, they sound delicious Grin

Sorry to hear about your vomming troubles, MrsAVB. Hope the beige foodstuffs calm the tum!

I am really hoping I don't get too physically sick... I have a relatively long commute to work and back, so it would be a nightmare! Wondering if I should stock up on emergency sick bags just in case!

MrsAVB · 10/05/2013 17:33

Thanks re. the dentist yoni. I have to go out tonight too, although fortunately not to eat. Will have to think excuses to to drink or stay late though. Lounging around like a whale sounds so much more appealing! Am I turning into a grumpy old woman?
rabbit I am lucky that my commute is in the opposite direction to most people so while not short, it's tolerable and I always get a seat. FX you don't get sick!
X

chocoholicalcoholic · 10/05/2013 17:41

Don't worry MrsAVB I survived mainly on orange ice lollies and walkers cheese and onion baked crisps between week 6 and week 14 last time as it's all I could handle. The baby was fine! I think sickness and nausea tails off at around 12-14 weeks for most women so you can get back to healthy eating then Smile

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 10/05/2013 17:49

I was wondering about sickness on commute - not hit me (yet), but I have a 45 min commute, on Tube. Anyone know the procedure if you have to upchuck on a busy rush hour tube? Out the door at the station? In the lap of the man who races you to a seat then ignores you standing and sighing LOUDLY all journey Grin?

On the healthy eating front, I am proud of myself this week - eaten good nutritious meals, with 2-3 portions of veg, each night, managed 3-4 portions of calcium/dairy stuff a day, and am making veggie lasagne tonight (the Ocado man just came and said 'lots of veg this week - you converting?' Grin) and drinking all the water on earth daily.

I'm sure it won't last.

chocoholicalcoholic · 10/05/2013 17:57

Blimey, well done Humpty! You've put me to shame! I've lived mainly on pizza chips and a Chinese takeaway this week. Ooooops.

missmakesstuff · 10/05/2013 18:05

I haven't caught up on everything but feeling pretty miserable today, at work yesterday I had very sharp crampy pains and then again today then felt I was wet and checked, was quite a lot of red blood. Had a doc appointment, scan on monday, but can't help feeling badly for this one, it hasn't let up since 3pm, is every time I wipe and them spotting on a pad. Got no cramps now, in bath trying to get some quiet and rest.
We were meant to tell the olds this weekend, seeing them for a meal tom night, in laws are staying so I can't get any peace or dicuss it with dh with them around.
Really don't know what to say to them tom, 'great news I'm pregnant but don't get excited as I will probably lose it' might put a dampner on the eve.

Yonionekanobe · 10/05/2013 18:08

Humpty - I've had to start wearing a baby on board badge and asking for a seat on the tube because of the nausea. One lady looked mighty pissed off when she clocked that my stomach wasn't huge!!
