Well I'm in hospital, had the gel, nothing is happening! So much for 2nd births being quick!

tasmaniandevilchaser · 18/05/2013 11:41

Bunnychan · 18/05/2013 12:57

So fed up! My DP has been targeted by fraud and more and more things keep coming in his name. First it was apple finance, then his barclaycard and now a mobile phone contract!!! Grr! I can't believe we've hot this to deal with so close to having a baby!

ButteryJam · 18/05/2013 14:07

Oh no Bunny, that sounds awful! :( that's the last thing you need at this stage. Hope you manage to get it sorted soon.

InNeedofSomeSleep · 18/05/2013 16:46

Bunny I hope you get it all sorted out. There some horrible people out there.

Buttery on Wednesday day before labour started I felt like I wanted to kill someone and was really moody.

TigerSwallowTail · 18/05/2013 17:14

I hope everyone that's still at the last hurdle are doing ok. I'm getting heavier every day, grumpier and more tired too! Hurry up baby!

bunny get another curry down you and see if that encourages more contractions.

DXBMermaid · 18/05/2013 17:28

Anyone else drooling as much as I am? Just went for a nap and managed to drool all over my own shoulder Confused Blush Yuck!

These last few days waiting for her arrival are strange. My hormones are all over the place, I can't get comfy and I just don't really know what to do with myself.

Still no signs of contractions, water breaking or losing mucus plug so I guess she is still happy inside. Seeing Dr again on Tue if nothing happens before that and will ask for a vaginal exam (no sweep).

ButteryJam · 18/05/2013 17:42

DXB, I can relate to drooling, especially if i nap in day time. Doesn't feel good at all!

Zorra · 18/05/2013 18:20

Drooling here too, and I thought my waters had broken but I just had a little wee Blush No dignity left anymore :(

Plus my knee really hurts and I keep thinking I have a DVT, DS has been vile vile vile today and I've almost had enough. Just looking forward to us both going to bed and hoping for a better day tomorrow.

DXBMermaid · 18/05/2013 19:24

buttery and zorra glad to know I am not the only one. It just surprised me as I literally woke up with a wet shoulder and my nightie was soaked.

zorra can you take a nice warm bath or shower after DS has gone to bed? Maybe use some fancy bath products? Just a little time for yourself to relax and perk up a bit before going to bed? Am finding that if I go to bed grumpy I don't sleep well at all. Also sending you a hug, a Brew and a Biscuit

LittleSpade · 18/05/2013 22:45

Well I'm having a fun weekend! My waters went at 6pm yesterday after mild cramps all day (this was following a second failed attempt at a sweep on Thur afternoon when I was told I would likely get to 42 week with no action). I went in for examination and was 3cm dilated. Went back home but the contractions seemed frequent and quite bad and I was panicking about the lack of pain relief (wish in hindsight I'd thought of good old paracetamol) so went back to the birth centre at 10pm. Things ramped up with painful contractions some needing gas and air every 2 to 10 mins however they didn't find a regular pattern and at 5.30am Sat morning to everyones suprise I was still only 3cm. At 1pm we met the birth centres limit of 18 hours without established labour from waters going so were asked to transfer to the hospital. Their policy is 24 hours to established labour from waters going so for 6 hours we were just monitored so see if I'd get to the magic 4cm. No such luck and no allowance for gas and air here on the antenatal ward - finally got dome paracetamol and codeine though which helped. Well as I still wasn't 4cm at 6pm we were told we'd be transferred to the labour ward for induction due to infection risk with my waters gone for so long. Well we're still waiting and been told it'll likely be midnight before we move. So only a fun 28 hours of labour and no progress so far!didn't

scooby26 · 18/05/2013 23:37

Little spade- keep your chin up... At least you are going to have this baby ... Your waters have gone! Similar happens when you have group b strep ( me last time) and they induced me on drip... So things will start soon and hopefully some time Sunday you will have your baby!

DXBMermaid · 18/05/2013 23:48

littlespade hoping things will start progressing soon for you. Won't be too long before you'll be holding your baby in your arms. Keep your eye on the prize Wink
Hoping they will let you back on gas and air asap!

scooby26 · 19/05/2013 04:25

Wide awake here with period type pains wondering if this is going to be it Or just a very crap sleep! ;-)

Decided to get up and I'm gonna watch BGT and see how it feels- was hard to tell lying down. Was/am waiting for something obvious like waters breaking like last time so there is no ambiguity.....

LittleSpade · 19/05/2013 05:49

Welcome to the very crap sleep club scooby ;) Two nights in hospital with contractions doesn't exactly promote good sleep either. Feel sorry for my DH too having to doze on an chair whilst I get the bed but then remind myself he doesn't have to give birth!
Hope something kicks off for you soon. What's BGT?

Still not gone up to the labour ward for induction :( Can't believe this all started Friday and may not end till Monday!

BeauticianNotMagician · 19/05/2013 07:12

Maybe in labour its ridiculous third and not sure. Think because its been so stop start for past two weeks I dot want to get to hospital and be told its BH. Been up since 3.30am with pains currently 8 mins apart.

Waters still in tact but they've never gone until pushing stage and I haven't lost my plug. Eeek

40+3

scooby26 · 19/05/2013 07:18

Hmmm- up for the day with DS as DH went to work at 0600.... Contractions worn off in that the waves have gone but still have period type pains- prob my own fault- I was too tired/cold to be active and lay down so baby prob backed off! Hopefully it's a sign of interest that they fancy escaping!! V tired and worn from low grde ache... Labour gonna b fun!

Zorra · 19/05/2013 08:27

Good luck for today everyone, seems like either there will be babies or a lot of patience will be needed! X

babygeek · 19/05/2013 08:38

Little spade, hope you get some joy today and have a lovely newborn in your arms soon.

Some of these May babies sure are stubborn. I had a curry last night and then some strong-ish contractions 10-2 mins apart with some shivering. Nearly went in to hospital but they subsided a bit and panadol helped so tried to sleep and here I am now at 8:30am after a decent sleep with low grade pain and contractions. Confused.com!! Shock
There seems to be a few of us in this frustratingly long latent phase.

Hope you ladies get to have a nice Sunday sleep-in! X

Bunnychan · 19/05/2013 09:36

Good luck ladies- seems like there's going to be a lot of action over the next 24 hours!

I, on the other hand, seem to be going backwards! No more contractions, less back ache, no show and I even feel less pregnant. Crazy shit! Oh well- only 39+3!
I can't wait to hear about the next may babies! X

Livingwithmymother · 19/05/2013 10:19

Has anyone noticed their bump going down in size?

40+1
Drinking fizzy drinks to try and annoy the baby out.
This pregnancy has sent me loopy.

Good luck all, hoping to read some more birth stories soon.

shelly81 · 19/05/2013 12:27

living I said that to my DP this morning also 40 + 1 hoping its a good sign that baba is getting comfy and moving right down Grin x

MammaBrussels · 19/05/2013 18:47

Right, just spent 25 minutes using the breast pump. Now having contractions lasting 20 seconds every three minutes. Keeping fingers crossed.

DXBMermaid · 19/05/2013 21:00

Just came back from drinks with friends. Are a lot of your friends also surprised that you are still driving? I just keep saying that as long as I fit behind the wheel it's all good Smile

Having said that DH had a few more beers then I'd have liked especially as there is a zero tolerance policy on drinking and driving here. So, I am hoping I won't go into labour overnight.

No indications that I might, not a twinge or a BH in sight. Think she'll be late.

I posted on the facebook group yesterday so just to update all on here too...
Our little boy James arrived at 6.04am yesterday weighing 6lb 2oz. His mummy and daddy are besotted if a little exhausted! Grin

Still in hospital and struggling a bit - had to have my catheter put back at 4am this morning after 11 hours of being unable to wee more than a few drops after having it removed yesterday pm. Am finding the catheter incredibly uncomfortable (nurse said i may be reacting to the latex) but scared to have it removed in case I still can't wee... Not sure if we'll be able to go home today unless I can work out how to relax and wee! Any useful tips appreciated (no bath here or at home)... Sad
