Congratulations thingie and beaver!!

Congratulations again to you reeny (already aahhed over the gorgeous Cerys on fb :o) Bet it's nice to be home now :)

Zorra been thinking of you lots. Reflexology and a massage sounds like a fantastic idea!

tas no sign from the cow yet :o

And no sign from me either. Really trying to stay positive but got a bit upset after MW appt yesterday. She tried to do a sweep and couldn't. This is the third sweep in 3 babies now that hasn't been possible. I wouldn't mind if the sweep just didn't work but it's so disheartening to put yourself through that process for no reason. My cervix is the same as DS last time - its funnelling and is 3-4cm at the bottom but 1cm at the top and she couldn't get to the internal os enough to do the stretch let alone the sweep. She said baby's head is very high still.

So booked in for induction on Saturday. Would have preferred Friday just because of what DD1 has got going on the following Monday but they were fully booked. I'm ok with the idea of induction but still don't want it to happen that way. But I'm not hopeful. Resorting to sex tomorrow (couldn't face it last night!)...

Congrats ladies ...I'm still here too 39 + 4 achy niggles & nothin else .. Sweep next wed if nothing happened b4 then xx

TigerSwallowTail · 15/05/2013 14:14

Congratulations on the new babies born, all the pictures I've seen too have been absolutely gorgeous.

I'm still here too, I'm due a week today but the midwife said because I changed hospitals round my 12 week scan the midwives can't do anything until the later due date I was given which is 2 weeks today, so I'm not booked in for a sweep until the 28th which seems so long away. Hopefully I don't go that far and she arrives soon.

I'm at home with a sick little boy so we're both curled up on the couch watching sonic the hedgehog.

39 weeks today.

BeauticianNotMagician · 15/05/2013 14:21

I'm still here too. All pains have stopped completely. I've never reached my due date before without being in labour so all very odd to me. I'm so bored at home as everything is done and clean.

DP has to take next week off as he had booked it as holiday due to his rate of paternity pay being so bad. I've a feeling he will have a wasted week and only a week at home with baby. Such a shame as its his first.

I won't see midwife again until next Wednesday when ill be 40+ 6 and she already told me she won't be doing a sweep but will book me for induction on the 28th Sad

shelly81 · 15/05/2013 15:17

Beaut that sucks why won't she do a sweep ?? Xx

McRoo · 15/05/2013 15:35

40+7 today. Had my second sweep yesterday and was still only 1cm dilated, which was no improvement on the sweep a week earlier, and cervix hadn't softened. The midwife also wrote in my notes that the head had gone from being 2/5 engaged last week to only 3/5 yesterday. Third sweep on Friday & induction booked for Monday morning.

I was so upset after my midwife appt yesterday. Devastated that I'd made no physical progress because I'd had so much show over the weekend and even felt like I was in early labour for all of Saturday.

Feel a bit better today. Trying to focus on the fact that induction day is Monday and not the part where my midwife told me that even if I go in it be induced on Monday I still might not actually have my baby until the Thursday.

The waiting is driving me nuts, though, and with this rubbish weather it's hard to even go out & go for a walk. All my other ante-natal class ladies have had their babies (and only 2 of the other 6 ladies went overdue) so I feel very isolated. No-one to talk to about how this feels, how scary the idea of induction is etc.

MammaBrussels · 15/05/2013 15:42

Congratulations Reeny, Thingy and Beaver.

I'm still here too. Had an OB appointment today, am having very mild contractions and am 1'tiny' cm dilated. Baby's fine, about 3.4kg with a small head Smile. Getting frustrated now but trying to be positive about things moving in the right direction. Next appointment is on Friday. I have no idea what a cervical sweep is in French. I'm reluctant to translate it literally - my Dr might wonder why I want him to take a broom to my fanny.

Bunnychan · 15/05/2013 16:03

mamma that did make me laugh!!! X

BeauticianNotMagician · 15/05/2013 16:05

Shelly Apparently they don't do sweeps until you are 7 days over here and on my next appt ill be 6 days over. It's not fair as midwife only works a Wednesday. Usually Ive always had an appt at 40 weeks as well which ok I have this time but a day short of 41 weeks

Artichook · 15/05/2013 16:13

Hi All

I did an FB group birth announcement but don't think I came on here to announce our DS was born at 2.15am on 14 May after a rather speedy induction. I went from no pain and 2cm to delivery in under two hours and my notes actually record established labour as 1 hour 5 mins. As a result I had no pain relief at all, not so much as a paracetamol! It was quite a shock after two previous epidurals (I would go for an epidural over that everybtime) but DS is gorgeous and I am smitten with him and already forgetting the details of two nights ago. I'm home and up and about with no pain at all which is amazing.

Good luck to all those still waiting.

InNeedofSomeSleep · 15/05/2013 16:42

Mamma that made me laugh, which I need today as I'm so moody.

I'm 1 little day overdue and feel like I want to punch someone or cry all day. I know a bit extreme. Went to a toddler group today and drives me crazy all the you haven't popped yet then questions. Well obviously not. And if my husband tells me he is tired 1 more time I think he might just get shouted at. At least my little girly is being good so makes the daytime alot easier. I have been for a long dog walk today so fingers crossed that may get her moving.

Beaut I have to wait till 41+ 2 for a sweep which seems like ages away and then if i get induced it's 2 days later.

lollypopsicle · 15/05/2013 17:16

Loving all the new arrival news. Smile

beaut I can imagine you're getting thoroughly fed up. Remember your body has spontaneously gone into labour twice before so hopefully you won't have to wait for that sweep.

Well I'm measuring too small for dates (again!!) so have to have a scan tomorrow Sad I'm worried that I won't get my home birth now. Midwife thinks labour is close as the head is so low she can't even feel it. So hoping it happens tonight and don't have to worry about this scan! I do have niggles but nothing regular.
Ho hum.

Congratulations to everyone who is now snuggling their little bundles of joy!
I am jealous. I've gone from ' oh I can't wait for the baby to be here' .. To ' I hope the baby doesn't come yet ' in a few short days as my ds has developed chicken pox!
Great timing !
Midwife isn't even going to discuss sweeps or
Induction til I'm over due. I'm still without a poxy birth plan too.
Grrrr I wanna punch everyone in the face it seems as tho everyone that opens their mouth gives me a headache.
Sigh

shelly81 · 15/05/2013 19:54

beaut that's a load of crap 1 poxy sounds like yur MW needs a punch in the face just for good measure lol .... Mamma you did make me giggle ha ...The end is in sight ladies we'll all get there eventually Grin x

DXBMermaid · 15/05/2013 21:06

Congrats to all the new Mummy's. Lovely to hear about your little bundles of joy arriving safely!

Zorra and lolly, duely noted. Ingestion of sperm needed... Doesn't seem fair!

Been having some little twitches and just noticed quite a lot of discharge. Smelt a bit like sex Hmm. Don't think it's my waters, but put some clean knickers on and a panty liner, so I can check later.

Packed most of my bag today, but still need to put some things in. Spending the whole day at home tomorrow, so can organise the last things. Hopefully my friend wil pop in for a cuppa and she can give me a foot and leg massage as the swelling really is getting a little uncomfy. Also hope to receive my tens machine tomorrow...

39 today

DXBMermaid · 15/05/2013 21:08

Forgot to add, been reading this thread from the classics and it's really quite funny. Good one for all the ladies that still need to deliver!

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 16/05/2013 07:09

Morning ladies. Just popped in to say good luck. And I really feel for any of you that are overdue.

My little dude was induced and born yesterday at 37+4 due to the discovery of high bile in blood test (obstetric cholestasis).
Mine was only picked up on the off chance. So if any of you have any itching (even if you think you can logically put it down to something else, which is what I did) please please mention it to your m/w.

MammaBrussels · 16/05/2013 07:37

Congratulations Frustrated, hope you're OK. Does the cholostasis just go of its own accord?

shelly81 · 16/05/2013 07:39

Ooh my word .... Congrats frustrated another boy ..there catching up ha x

InNeedofSomeSleep · 16/05/2013 07:45

Congratulations frustrated. Good they found it in time. X

ButteryJam · 16/05/2013 07:47

Strangest thing happened last night - I'm so sure I felt real contractions but as its my 1st kept self doubting. My whole tummy and back had awful tightening pain. I somehow managed to breathe myself through them but couldn't move or speak when they came on (was trying to ask dh to get my phone so I could listen to the hypno tracks). Eventually did manage to ask him and the tracks helped. Eventually after being up for 2.5 hours I fell asleep thinking gosh this is what labour is like ... Blush

However, I woke up this morning and haven't felt a contraction since. Were those real contractions and am I in latent labour???

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 16/05/2013 07:56

Yeah mamma it goes by itself pretty much within a week of baby being delivered. Considering how much I was scratching yesterday, it's much much less today.

Sounds positive buttery you may find they come back later today after you've been up and walking about for a bit.

lollypopsicle · 16/05/2013 08:05

Congrats frus. Really glad they picked up on that and everything is ok x

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 16/05/2013 08:10

Everything is good with both of us lolly
Was such a fluke that it was picked up, as I'd gone in for high blood pressure (which was fine) so someone was clearly watching over us.
