Feel really stupid not sure if I'm in early labour or not. I should know its my third Blush

Had a really sore tummy all day. Like a constant period pain. I've been to the loo sorry tmi and I vomited earlier as well. Which is strange having not been sick this pregnancy. I've had no show and no waters leaking. My waters have never gone before. Definitely don't feel right though. Hmmmm

CluelessNewbie1 · 14/05/2013 16:17

beaut I have friends who have been sick just before going into labour. . apparently it is the body clearing out. This is my first so I have no idea myself sorry!

38 weeks - I've got ages compared to everyone else! Just started mat leave. . weird. Don't know what to do with myself.

TigerSwallowTail · 14/05/2013 17:45

Just updated the stats thread with my new nickname.

Rhienne · 14/05/2013 20:39

Clueless - keep busy if you can. You could be in for a long wait! .

Last midwife appointment today, booked in for induction on Sunday if nothing's happened by then. Had an internal exam, which might of itself kick things along a bit, and MW said she doesn't think I'll get that far, but that may well have been positive encouragement for the patient sitting there complaining about not wanting to be fat and heavy and swollen any more! Not sure I believe it was based on any real symptoms.

Sigh.

Clueless thanks yes I have heard that before as well.

Well still got period type pains none enough to make me go ouch. I'm still unsure Ive told DP but he is struggling to understand if its labour or not. I can't answer as I don't know. I will try to sleep. I was going to have a bath but don't want to slow it down before its had chance to build if it is anything.

Thingiebob · 14/05/2013 23:12

Hi everyone
Just popping into to say my baby boy Gabriel was born last Wed. I had a spell in hospital so have only just got round to posting.

Things I have learnt!

Second labours are not neccesarily faster than first ones.

My advice is to people, if you are having pain that seems to be getting worse, please get checked out. Unless you want to be like me and have your entire labour at home with no pain relief because you are convinced it is a false alarm. I was very nearly in a position of giving birth at home or in the car. As it happened I needed to have an EMCS in the end so not getting to hospital in time would have been potentialy disastrous.

My contractions NEVER became regular. Always ranging from seven mins to three mins interval. I was also able to have a reasonably coherent if shouty conversation in between each one.

All this 'You will know' stuff - again, you can be uncertain.

I never had any vomiting or sickness beforehand.

It is perfectly possible to be in established labour and load a dishwasher in between contractions!

The urge to push is so powerful and uncontrollable. If someone tells you not to push during childbirth, it is really hard to comply!

Thingiebob · 14/05/2013 23:13

Sorry - a conversation DURING a contraction.

cuppateaandagingersnap · 15/05/2013 00:12

Congratulations thingie :) I love the name you chose, what weight was he? Sounds like you had an interesting labour to say the least! Glad you're home with your lovely son and hope you're healing ok after your EMSC, xx

InNeedofSomeSleep · 15/05/2013 07:04

Congratulations Thingie. X

lollypopsicle · 15/05/2013 07:26

Congratulations thingie Gabriel is on our boys short list, lovely name. Sounds like you had a traumatic time with it all!

beaver33 · 15/05/2013 07:34

Just checking in to say our beautiful baby girl was (finally) born at 8.30pm last night. No name yet. We are recovering in hospital after an emergency forceps birth in theatre - bit frustrating, but after a four day labour I was exhausted, and the cord was wrapped around her neck three times!

She is adorable and I'm completely in love...Grin

BeauticianNotMagician · 15/05/2013 07:36

Thingie Congratulations. The boys are finally arriving now yay. Love the name. Hope you are recovering well from c section.

Well Ive woken up this morning with duller pains than yesterday. Really thought I would be having contractions by now. I feel like I'm imagining it. Have woken up thoroughly peed off and DP is disappointed.

39+6

BeauticianNotMagician · 15/05/2013 07:38

Beaver Congratulations. Glad you got there in the end. Long labours are exhausting so get sleep when you can. Enjoy your newborn Smile

Rhienne · 15/05/2013 07:52

Congratulations Thingie and Beaver! Lovely to hear about your safe (if more traumatic than desirable) arrivals. Enjoy your cuddles! Hope to join you soon...

Congratulations Beaver, lots of boys now.

Beaut I think I keep imagining pains to. Everyday I'm feeling sick to so keep hoping that will be it.

lollypopsicle · 15/05/2013 08:23

Glad up finally here of your safe arrival beaver Thanks

Bunnychan · 15/05/2013 08:27

Congratulations Thingie & Beaver! So exciting for everyone.
Nothing happening here- am I one of the only ones left? Although I'm really chuffed because I had an amazing nights sleep!!! Yay!
There are some beautiful names for the may babies coming through :-) x

Zorra · 15/05/2013 08:38

Congrats on the lovely babies!

Still nothing here, some tightenings and dull backache plus wanting to throw up, but nothing major. Arranging a massage and some reflexology as a bit of comfort and hopefully to encourage bubs to come out :)

wrigglerchick · 15/05/2013 08:50

Congratulations Thingie and Beaver!

Bunny, I'm still here with not much happening. My first sweep on Monday doesn't seem to have had much effect so we'll see whether tomorrow's does anything! I think my bump has finally dropped a bit - no heartburn last night even without a precautionary dose of gaviscon before bed Smile.

lollypopsicle · 15/05/2013 09:02

No bubs here either but then I'm not due until a week tomorrow so it could be another 3 weeks yet! Trying not to think about it too much. This last bit really does drag. Off to see the midwife today.

ButteryJam · 15/05/2013 09:16

Congrats to those who just gave birth :)

Bunny, I'm still here, 38 + 5, and desperate to meet baby! Went for a walk yesterday and feel all achey today but hasn't triggered anything.

Does reflexology really work to get things started?

Also, is anyone's bump (beneath belly button) really pulling and itching?

Reenypip · 15/05/2013 09:26

Hello :-)
Cerys was born on the 9th may at 11.24am by elective c section, weighing 6lbs 2oz.
Thankfully I wasn't severely ill like with my c section with 1st child. Even though it was still a little traumatic I'm pleased with how it went and that I heard her first cry.
Because I have a lot of spinal problems it took 90 minutes to get the spinal anethestic in. Plus I had another reaction but it wasnt as severe And kept it under control the best they could.
I had a early post partum haemorrhage too but it was dealt with well and it happened in theatre.
I started to get feeling back which was becoming painful and they offered to put me asleep, but I said if wasnt long left I'd grin and bear it which I did.
We've not long got back home.
My 2 year old boy has been very good so far and gives her kisses and tries to help.

Congratulations to the other new additions and good luck for those to come.

LittleSpade · 15/05/2013 09:39

Congratulations thingie and beaver.

I'm still here too. My sweep on Monday caused a few extra Braxton Hicks and a bit of pink tinged discharge but nothing more. Hoping tomorrow's one may trigger more action.

40+3

aberjen · 15/05/2013 10:11

Congrats thingie, beaver and reeny Thanks

betsyb75 · 15/05/2013 11:05

Congratulations to everyone and their new babies!
I am still here 40+9.
I am being induced on Friday morning. I'm so scared and anxious that I'm not coping too well, but I know I am close to meeting my son and this time next week I would have forgotten about the scariness. I sound like such a wuss!
