Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Grump, grump - for all my 'good labour signs' yesterday I'm now (almost) back at square one. Was having contractions lasting a minute every four minutes, mild to moderate but getting more intense.
By 10pm they were pretty tough and lasting up to two minutes with less of a break in between. Hospital still didn't want to take me so I was in the bath, on the birthing ball, thinking 'tonight's the night...'.

At 3am I got DH to call the labour ward as I could barely think straight and was having back-to-back contractions.

And then....it all just stopped Angry. Dozed off, was getting a contraction about once an hour.

Just been up to hospital for a check because I hadn't felt LO move since the early hours and all is fine and no-one seems concerned that my labour has stalled. And I'm so frustrated! Feel like I was nearly there and now I'll have to go through it all again!

Having mild contractions every 15 mins or so now - enough to be annoying and painful but not enough to feel things are progressing.

Grr. It could all kick off again soon...or not. Neither DH nor I slept properly last night so the idea of another night like that tonight is not appealing.

Anyone else with experience of this? Hopeful and positive stories only, please...I am convinced this is all now going to happen really quickly...

ng1412 · 12/05/2013 13:58

Beaver no experience sorry but wanted to just say that at least it sounds like things are happening, although can see how frustrating the stop start must be.

I have had nothing here, in fact have noticed considerable reduction in movement and it is freaking me out. I have been drinking cold water and eating chocolate but nothing has happened.

Anyone else getting this? I can't really call and explain this to the Swiss hospital as my German isn't that good although if it continues I will have no choice. Very worried.

Zorra · 12/05/2013 14:27

Reduced here as well, ng, still fairly regular but quite subdued...

shelly81 · 12/05/2013 14:48

beaver it sucks wen that happens if its any consolation that happened to me then stopped ... Then it all kickedd off properly next day .... Try and get as much rest as possible before it does happen for real xx

aberjen · 12/05/2013 14:50

Congrats to sparkly and anyone else I've missed :-) (sorry, not quite with it just now)

Miniaber arrived last night (just - 2355). DP and I are besotted with her. Smile In terms of birth story, birth plan went out the window early on. Wasn't coping with contractions, so had epidural (had been hoping to avoid). Ended with forceps and episiotomy, but genuinely don't care - safe arrival of miniaber is main thing Smile

babygeek · 12/05/2013 14:51

Beaver, no experience here but lots of support. It must be very frustrating for you and DH when you are all mentally prepared for baby arriving. Did they check your cervix dilation/effacement? I hope that it all picks up again soon.

Bunnychan · 12/05/2013 15:00

Congratulations Aber! have you chosen a name?
Thought I was starting labour last night when I was awake with waves of period cramps from 2am-5 am but fell asleep until 6 and it all stopped. I guess it was terrible indigestion as I had bad heartburn too lol but got me worried at the time. Feel like a fool- thank god I didn't wake DP hehe x

ng1412 · 12/05/2013 15:01

Aber congratulations and another girl to add to the list, it does seem like we have a lot of little ladies compared to boys!

So have you chosen a name for her, and also what was her weight?

Sounds very much like what happened to my birth plan first time round by the way!

babygeek · 12/05/2013 15:38

Hi all, I have updated the stats thread with our new arrivals Smile
I checked the facebook group as well and have picked up those births. I have missed wee Emily Rose as I am not sure of your Mumsnet username sorry. Hopefully I haven't missed any others.

Any newbies are welcome to add their details to the stats thread. There is a link to it at the beginning of this thread.

There are only 4 boys to 14 girls so far so the boys need to catch up Grin

lollypopsicle · 12/05/2013 16:44

Congrats aber x

wrigglerchick · 12/05/2013 16:49

Congratulations aber!

FiveandthebonusBall · 12/05/2013 17:13

Just popping in to say many congratulations to all the new May mummies and babies, and good luck to those who are waiting.
You probably don't remember me - I was on the thread months and months ago but had a mc at 6 weeks. On a happier note I am pregnant again, currently 16 weeks, and all is going well. Love and best wishes to all xxx

cuppateaandagingersnap · 12/05/2013 17:19

Congrats sparkly and aber so exciting to see all the new arrivals coming! Absolutely boo sign of anything at all happening here, few pootrations same as some of you ladies upthread but hardly worth mentionning, need to be more patient!!

cuppateaandagingersnap · 12/05/2013 17:22

Congrats five I do remember you, keeping my fingers crossed all goes well for you this time Grin

tasmaniandevilchaser · 12/05/2013 17:25

Congrats to aber, epidurals are great, aren't they?!

Hi and congrats to you as well five, it is lovely to be pg again by your due date :)

Beaver hope it all kicks off soon, very frustrating. I don't have any experience of long latent labour but you should definitely rest as much as you can.

babygeek · 12/05/2013 17:29

Forgot to say congrats aberjen and enjoy your newborn snuggles! X

babygeek · 12/05/2013 17:30

And that's really great news five, all the best Smile

MammaBrussels · 12/05/2013 18:04

Congrats Aber & Five. My labour with DS was stop/start but my waters broke very early so a slightly different experience to you Beaver. Not a sniff of a contraction here. EDD is tomorrow and I'm already getting frustrated with the waiting.

TerracottaPie · 12/05/2013 18:30

Congratulations Sparkly and aber!!

I love checking in to the thread and fb and finding that new babies have been born.

Five that is such lovely news to hear! Congratulations to you :)

babygeek I was just thinking the stats needed an update. Glad you did it as I'd lost track! I think I did read ThingieBob had hers on another thread she started but she's not updated here so not sure whether to put it on or not.

No sign of anything here. 40+5. Got a sweep on Tuesday if I want it. Just trying to go with the flow really. Which I'm actually finding easier than I thought I would. Think it's because there's nothing like a homebirth resting on whether I go into labour on time this time. And i know what to expect re induction as well. I'll probably get a bit more stressed towards the end of the week worrying about a baby coming and clashing with my eldest going off on a school trip for 3 nights! Oh and DP and I looked round a wedding venue today to hold the ceremony. Will probably be emailing to book a date tomorrow :)

Rhienne · 12/05/2013 18:34

Congratulations to all those with new arrivals!

Here I am very jealous of anyone who's managed to give birth anywhere near their due date. 41+1 today and thoroughly fed up. Have had BH or pre-labour contractions or whatever it should be called since 40+0, but nothing worth doing anything about.

We have now put the cot back up and fitted the newborn set to the Tripp Trapp. There are no more excuses LO. OUT!!

beaver33 · 12/05/2013 18:51

Thanks chaps. As a first timer, the most frustrating thing is knowing now what I'm facing - and having to do it again. EDD is tomorrow - snap, MammaB - so hoping for some more action tonight.

Weirdly, the most painful thing is sitting on the loo. It's far worse than any contractions, and I think must be something to do with the way LO is lying.

Been looking up long latent labour (now that I know what it is) and the good news is that, although it can go on for a while, it means the active part can be shorter and less painful. So I'm clinging to that.

Aberjen congratulations to you both and sod the birth plan - glad you've got an adorable little girl and that you're both doing well. Lovely news.

Five welcome back to the thread - how nice to have you, and of course we remember you! And so many congratulations on the new pregnancy. I often think about those who dropped off the thread because things didn't work out and wonder how they're doing.

ButteryJam · 12/05/2013 22:28

Many Congratulations to all those with new babies! Smile

I've just had my 1st stretch marks at 38 + 3, and my skin actually hurts and feels like it is going to pull and burst Sad - very uncomfortable! Any tips on how to stop it feeling that way? I've put extra Mamma Mio Butter rub on today, but not making a difference. I want baby out asap!! Sad

DXBMermaid · 13/05/2013 06:15

Congratulations Aberjen!

Off to see the Dr this afternoon and to discuss my birth plan. Am happy that I've put it all down on paper now, although it does make it seem very real. Think the plan as I've written it is pretty flexible, so hopefully I'll be able to follow at least some parts of it.

Anyone else not sleeping great? I struggle to fall asleep, even though I am exhausted, then wake up a lot either because I need a wee, or I'm thirsty, or because of heartburn, or because I need to roll over from one side to the other... So basically it feels like I'm sleeping in 20 min bursts.

Artichook · 13/05/2013 07:09

Congrats Aber!

Lovely news Five, it is so nice that you popped in to tell us.

Beaver, any news! J had a long latent phase with DD2 but once established it was six hours and v straight forward, good luck!

Induction booked for today. I'm still not sure I will agree to it. My lovely friends all came over last night with champagne and pizzas and pampering presents. It was a great evening but I had two Glasses of champers and I can feel it this morning which isn't a great start. My girls are jumping in our bed singing "the baby is coming today", I'm desperately trying to manage expectations.

mwncigirl · 13/05/2013 07:26

So, a few of us due today I think? Please can we see our babies today?? Wink
