Hi all, fell off the MN thread but have been keeping up to date on the FB group... just got to the end of the thread and gold seems to be heading for the finish line, good luck!
I'm really looking forward to sharing birth stories, should we have a special birth story thread? I found telling my birth story really important and special last time, even though it was pretty uneventful as far as birthing goes. But it was important to repeat it somehow?
Interesting to try and remember the post-birth peeing etc. I honestly can barely remember how long it took to recover in that sense. I had a second degree tear, and recall having discussions with a friend re post-birth baths (with salt) or something but can't remember dealing with - or having to deal with peeing specifically? I did worry about pooing - sorry ladies - but only because the idea of pushing was horrifying. My strategy was to eat prunes every morning and I honestly can't remember a bad experience. I do remember struggling with stairs in the week after, because of the stitches but it wasn't awful; I just had to go slowly.
DS is only 2.4 so I don't think it's the haze of time; it's more like the haze of what was going on at the time - much more visceral and memorable are DS, those moments when his eyes opened and he looked at me; holding him; nearly snatching him off well-wishers when he cried in their arms; his smell; his movement which were so self determined and strong, I couldn't quite believe it. And his poo, which smelt of roses, well, no worse than the soil they are planted in, for the whole time he was ebf. Also panicking about mad details like the number of minutes he fed/ when he went to sleep etc. - stuff which seemed like the beginning and end of the whole world at the time but which just passed so, so quickly.
Can't wait to meet my DD! Except as I'm still doing paperwork it might be nice to go my full 40 weeks so I at least get a week off before chaos ensues!
