DizziDoll · 28/04/2013 09:10

Congratulations gold! Oliver is a fab name. Enjoy the snuggles.

MammaBrussels · 28/04/2013 09:15

Congratulations Gold.

wrigglerchick · 28/04/2013 09:28

Congratulations gold!

BeauticianNotMagician · 28/04/2013 11:05

Congratulations Gold. What was your original due date. Love his name. Hope you are enjoying lot of newborn snuggles. Not jealous at all Grin

BeauticianNotMagician · 28/04/2013 11:08

Dizzi I keep suffering on and off with piles. Super quick cure for mine though is bran flakes and applying ahem sudocrem. Takes a day and then they disappear. Make sure you are drinking plenty as well as that can make them worse. So glam but worth it all in the end.

37+3

beaver33 · 28/04/2013 11:09

Aw, another lovely bundle to add to our happy thread - welcome to the world, Oliver, and congrats gold. They're coming thick and fast now!

Another one here who feels far away from delivery (37+6). Feeling relatively good, considering. I get tired if I'm out for any length of time (although trying to stay active by walking every day) and have horrid cankles, but apart from that all is ok. My aim for today is to clear some garden pots and pay a visit to a curtain shop to sort out the living room window so we no longer live in a goldfish bowl and my neighbours are saved from the sight of me lying on the sofa at night, bump out, scratching like an animal possessed... (anyone else REALLY goddamn itchy???).

Rachy can totally sympathise on the house front although am v impressed at you moving days before due date. Although we moved a few weeks ago, the boxes and dust and general sense of unfinishedness has been getting me down (a clear nesting sign). But I found you just take care of the bare essentials and everything else can sod off.

x

SevenReasonsToSmile · 28/04/2013 11:59

Congratulations gold!

Anyone else fed up of being pregnant now? I'm tired and so uncomfortable.

InNeedofSomeSleep · 28/04/2013 12:25

I am ready for this baby now. Really tired and can't nap in the day. I been doing loads of cleaning to try pass the time. Had my family for the weekend but still didn't manage to rest. My aim for the day is to get dressed and maybe a bit of online shopping to cheer me up. Smile

MammaBrussels · 28/04/2013 13:08

Having a duvet day as was up all night throwing up. Kept having stomach cramps and freaking out that this was going to bring on labour. All right now though.

Have an appointment with my OB tomorrow, going to ask about the possibili of being induced at 39 +2 (May 8th) as that's when we've got our parents coming over to look after DS. The 9th and 10th are holidays over here so I reckon he might go for it just to be able to enjoy the long weekend. Tell me, wise Mumsnetters, what can I expect if I'm induced? Will it be faster/ slower? More/ less painful?

shelly81 · 28/04/2013 13:34

Congratulations gold Grin can't wait for our baba to make an appearance .... Hope she isn't as late as her brothers tho 9 & 13 days late xx

scooby26 · 28/04/2013 14:41

Gold- well done and congrats! Love the name - our top boys name ( if its a he and looks like and Oliver ! )

36w 2 d here so potentially still ages! Gotta be in next 6 weeks but I'm ever hopeful for next 2 ;-)

Boodstress · 28/04/2013 14:47

Congratulations Gold. My last baby was an Oliver and he is a joy.

All coming along here, Alice is a bit jaundiced so I am laying in the light of the window. Feeding more should flush it through, she is such a petite feeder compared to my ravenous boys. I still don't believe she's a she and under 8lb - seriously don't know where she came from. She is such a little blessing.

Hope you ladies are hanging in there, it is so near. Enjoy your sleep ... Really try & enjoy that sleep zzzzzz x

Sparklyboots · 28/04/2013 14:56

Congratulations Gold and welcome Oliver! It's all very exciting, isn't it.

Sorry to hear you are unwell, MamaB - you haven't been on mat leave long, right? Seems a bit unfair to spend it unwell... I did think I'd heard that induction contractions are on a bit of a steeper gradient, so you have less time to acclimatise to the discomfort iyswim? For me in your situation, though, I'd probably go for it because I am way more concerned about DS than I am about me and bump! But I would NO WAY go for the 8th of May because the new Star Trek film is out on 9th and I'd like to see it in cinema, given the choice... Oh wait, did I just out myself as a geek...? Anyway, however painful it is, I reckon it is just as painful as you can imagine so probably wouldn't factor that into a decision; birth is a different reality, anyway, right?

Much sympathy to movers; I moved cities the week before DS was born, I didn't really have much choice about the dates, but swore never to schedule stuff like that before birth ever again...

Am so close to finishing my (only paper)work now; officially on mat leave so I don't have to be on site but OMFG I can't wait to just stop for ten minutes and work out what to put in my hospital bag. Yes, I know I should have packed it already (as I'm 38+4) but I'm hoping that my own denial is realised on an actual, physical level....

SevenReasonsToSmile · 28/04/2013 18:45

mama that's exactly how I was on Friday, glad you're ok now. No experience of induction but I believe it can take a while to get started but once you start having contractions they tend to be more powerful and efficient therefore more painful.

sparkly have you learnt nothing from the amount of babies we have already? Go and pack that bag now! :o

Lovely to hear from you bood, hope the jaundice clears soon.

Apologies for saying I'm fed up of being pregnant, I know really I should be hoping to go to full term but I'm so exhausted and uncomfortable, plus I realised earlier I've now spent 16 of the last 23 months pregnant. Baby has definitely engaged today and I'm feeling quite hormonal and sorry TMI I've noticed a definite change in discharge so I don't think it'll be too much longer.

TerracottaPie · 28/04/2013 20:08

sparkly I still haven't packed my bag either (38+5 today). I've sort of got the baby's parts done though. But I only did that about 20 minutes ago :o

mamma hope you're feeling a bit better. I had an induction last time and only needed the gel to get me going which felt pretty comparable to my non induction labours in that it ramped up gently. I think it's more when membranes are ruptured for you or the drip is started that it can be a bit more intense.

seven you've made me try and work how long I've been pregnant in the last couple of years. It's pretty much 18 months out of the last 25. I did try and work it out in days but the amounts got too scary! Plus I feel really dim today so I'm not trusting my maths :o. Anyway, I think that means you're allowed to feel fed up now. I know I am.

And Bood you sound so very very happy. Thank you for the update :) also hope the jaundice goes soon.

Zorra · 28/04/2013 20:10

Another one whose had enough here, did a big yawn and have pulled all the muscles down my neck/throat/side of face Sad Not long to go for any of us!

Bunnychan · 28/04/2013 21:54

Congratulations gold!
Week 1 of 2 to go at work.. Should be starting to slow down but we'll see what happens! I've a got a unqualified teacher taking over but (excuse the terribly sexist comment) he's definately got a male brain so we'll see who ends up running round.
My sister threw me a surprise baby shower yesterday, incredibly American, but really lovely! Been given a lot of gifts so now need to reorganise and wash more baby stuff lol!
Hope you're all bearing up well; I'm enjoying getting my rib cage back now the baby has started dropping :-) x

Rhienne · 28/04/2013 22:18

Congratulations Gold! Great name :)

Here life is ... Pregnant. Must say I think I'm sleeping way way better than I was with DS, but still very tired of being so heavy and having no core muscles! Daily ambition levels are pretty low - still not sure how I managed to take DS out to play teice yesterday, while DH was ill. But spent most of today horizontal, so probably makes up for it.

39+2 and praying LO's not going to go too far over!

lollypopsicle · 28/04/2013 22:21

I still have a foot in my ribs, bunny. How lovely of your sister to surprise you.

I committed the ultimate baby brain faux pas today and left the front door open when we left the house- we were gone for hours Blush nothing bad happened but still Blush

Rhienne · 28/04/2013 22:23

Ooops! Just realised the link I posted on the previous page linked to totally the wrong comic, which made no sense whatsoever in context. Sorry! Try this instead:

Oh dear Lolly! But thank goodness nothing happened. I have to keep triple checking everything I do, as I really cannot follow through any basic thought processes just now.

SevenReasonsToSmile · 28/04/2013 22:35

lolly I almost shoplifted a few weeks ago by putting something on the hood of the buggy while I carried on looking round then forgot about it, only remembered after I'd paid for the other thing I was holding Blush. Hope that helps.

bunny glad you enjoyed the shower, what a nice surprise.

Does anyone have much left to do? We're organised enough and all of the big jobs are done except building the cot but we have the crib in our room for the beginning anyway, but I made a list of all the smaller odd jobs I want to get done before her arrival. I was surprised by how much is actually on there. Things like cleaning the baby bath, putting the car seat in the car ready, stocking up the cupboards etc. Anyway I've now done a huge tesco order so the cupboards will be fully stocked up tomorrow night, will hopefully have the energy to tackle some more of the jobs tomorrow.

DizziDoll · 29/04/2013 04:34

I'm leaving for the hospital in 30 minutes. I thought ELCS's were meant to be easier in the sense that I would be well rested. Except I haven't slept a wink for 2 nights and feel so unprepared for this baby. I pretty much cried the whole night.

I've been on mat leave for 7 weeks but with easter holidays and DH working stupid hours I feel like I haven't really had a moment to myself. Is it too late to reschedule the ELCS?

Panic!!!!

MammaBrussels · 29/04/2013 05:51

I don't think you ever feel truly ready before the baby arrives Dizzi. When they get here it doesn't really matter, you're everything your baby needs so you can't fail to be ready. Good luck for the CS today, you can always ask for it to be rescheduled.
