Mamma let's hope so as it is due to rain here all day tomorrow and next week.

Congratulations bood and welcome Alice - fab name :)

Sorry about your driving test beaut I also failed my first test with a major - I managed to cut up a bus - don't think my weak 'I didn't see him' went down well as an excuse Blush

Welcome shelli Smile

Terra sometimes you just have to go with your instincts, you need to have confidence in wherever you are.

Beaut I'm exactly 36 weeks-when I finish (May 10th hopefully) I will be 38 +1. Luckily, we have a teach-first trainee who need experience of KS1 so I will be sharing the workload with him next week and then he's taking over the following week so I can write (copy & paste) reports.
Don't worry about the driving test- all the best drivers pass second time ;-)

Think I've found another new bloody mole on my neck Boo!

TerracottaPie · 25/04/2013 21:45

Congratulations Bood!! She is scrumptious :o

Thanks all for the support :) don't worry Beaut I know you weren't saying it would be a big baby! Well, I finally spoke to the midwife. I've changed hospitals (well the paperwork has been sent off). I really don't know what it was about the first place. I'm very comfortable in hospitals and with medical and clinical settings (I'm a nurse) but something just didn't feel right about it. There was nothing wrong with any of it but maybe it was just not right for me. I do feel easier about my decision. Hope it was the right one. Only problem now is if I go into labour over the next few days before everything gets processed! Unlikely though. MW says I'll probably get an appt to see consultant and a scan due to being a new patient.

MW advised she didn't feel homebirth would be the safest option for me and whilst I know I could still go for it I'm inclined to agree. I still think it's a big baby (although I'm more than happy to be proved wrong!) and I wouldn't want to be in the position of having a repeat of last time when my BP dropped post birth and being 20+ miles from any hospital.

scooby you made me chuckle with saying about most babies are bigger than their siblings. So far that's been right. Only problem is the last one was 11lb so I'd rather not have too much bigger :o

Welcome shelli :)

Rhienne · 25/04/2013 21:49

Congratulations Bood! Alice is beautiful. :)y

Hi shelli!
Congrats again bood now that today is your 'day after' it must all be sinking in. Hope you are recovering well. So exciting to think we are all meeting our babies now :) she looks so gorgeous.

beaut elodie is our top girls name too!! Considering how unusual it is that is quite a coincidence! Top names were Elodie, Willow, Oona, Lexie. I have always loved the name Elidh too but it is one of DP's ex's so obviously ex names are out!!! Scans say we are having a boy but we thought we'd keep our girls names out there just in case. We have sort of 3 boys names up there at the mo and are going to meet him and hopefully one will seem more right than the others. Am sort of wishing I had more names on our list just in case but am sure we'll be fine :) Don't worry about the driving test btw, I failed first time too and so did almost all of my friends!

We just got our wedding date/venue confirmed yesterday so can send out save the dates now. It's actually happening, yippee! Grin

TigerSwallowTail · 26/04/2013 09:49

bood she is gorgeous, congratulations.

tmi

I had an eventful night last night. I'd been having stomach cramps for the past few days, then last night I felt like I was having lots of pressure then it felt like my waters were treakling out a bit, when I went to the toilet there was a small amount of blood too. I phoned the hospital who told me to go up, they recorded baby's movements for about an hour and any signs of contractions for me (she was fine) and then done a speculum. They said it didn't look like my membranes had been ruptured or any waters had broken so they sent me home. By then the stomach cramps had miraculously stopped anyway.

I've now just had what I think could be my show, could this be related to the speculum exam I had? I'm not having any other labour signs.

I'm 36+2 but I've been going by the dates I was given at my first hospital scan which matches up with my own dates I had worked out, but as I changed hospitals at the beginning of my pregnancy they worked my dates out to be exactly a week behind so my notes say I'm only 35+2.

BeauticianNotMagician · 26/04/2013 10:22

Tiger It may just be your body preparing itself for labour and doesn't necessarily mean labour is imminent. I would imagine after a speculum you may have a bit of blood. A show is quite different TMI alert its usually jelly like mine were both long streaks of jelly literally like a plug with blood in them. I went into labour quite soon after my shows however, sometimes it can take a couple of weeks. Hope that helps Smile

SevenReasonsToSmile · 26/04/2013 10:27

Not been on for a couple of days, congratulations to bood.

I'm feeling awful. I was violently sick during the night and then again when I got up this morning. I'm also cold and absolutely exhausted. DH is convinced I'll go into labour this weekend, I'm less than a week away from when I had the DCs.

Will go back and catch up on the thread.

SevenReasonsToSmile · 26/04/2013 11:04

tiger the show is likely due to the speculum, I had one after a sweep with DS.

wirra great news about the wedding venue.

beaut sorry to hear about the driving test, like you said though its probably better to fail for one big thing than lots of little ones.

Whoever was worrying about the pain of labour, you will be fine, and you will cope because you have to and know there's a very good reason for it. I have the lowest pain tolerance level of anyone I know, I had pethidine with DS which lowered the pain to a tolerable level and it was great, I even slept between contractions. I wanted it with DD and very nearly swore at the MW who said there wasn't enough time. I ended up just having gas and air, I admit the pain was pretty awful but I managed, and it want enough to stop me doing it again!

Meant to say I had a scan and saw the consultant yesterday. Everything is going well, measuring spot on which I'm relieved about as last time they said she was measuring small. Current weight prediction is 5lbs and she's head down now too :).

TigerSwallowTail · 26/04/2013 11:26

Thanks beaut and seven, (tmi again sorry), last night it was just a bit of blood but this morning when I woke up I had what you described beaut, like bloody, green and clear jelly. I've not had anything else since though. I didn't have a show with my first pregnancy, my waters just started trickling out then a few hours later my contractions started so I'm not too sure what to look out for. seven did your labour start soon after?

BeauticianNotMagician · 26/04/2013 11:35

Tiger Sounds like a show to me. Your waters don't always go. Mine didnt for either of my two. They went during the pushing stage. After my shows I had period type pains starting a few hours later. If you're concerned at all call your midwife.

Ds2 is having his early birthday party tomorrow after that I'm ready. Can you believe I'm already impatient and I have 3 weeks left. Goodness knows what ill be like if I go overdue.

Artichook · 26/04/2013 11:36

Congrats Bood. Sorry about confusing the Alice's on FB.

Sorry you are feeling rubbish Seven. Do you think it's a bug or pregnancy related.

Beaut/Wirra - Elodie is lovely. We nearly called DD2 Eloise.

Has everyone seen the news about delayed cord clamping being much better got the baby? It's really got me thinking and I'm going to ask for a delay even though I did have a big billed after DD1. See this article here.

36+5

Artichook · 26/04/2013 11:37

Bleed not billed! Sorry for typo-tastic post.

BeauticianNotMagician · 26/04/2013 11:44

Seven yes sorry you are feeling rubbish. Is that how labour has started before for you? I know a lot of people that have been sick beforehand. Time to put your feet up I think.

Arti It goes so well with my two ds names. I'd love to see someone on here choose that name. Can't believe in a few weeks I will have 3 gorgeous boys. I'm happy with the name we have chosen for ds3 just hope it suits him now

lollypopsicle · 26/04/2013 12:29

Tiger fwiw, in my last pg I had a show but didn't go in to labour for another 2 weeks ( and that was after a sweep at 41 wks)

I love the name Elodie too but DP does not. Hmm

sorry about your test beaut t took me 3 goes to pass Grin

lollypopsicle · 26/04/2013 12:32

Oh and seven first thing I thought when you said about sickness was labour. Rest up.

36+1

TigerSwallowTail · 26/04/2013 12:42

I've called my midwife just incase, nobody was in though they must all be on their lunch so I left a voicemail. The funny thing is we are getting new carpets throughout the whole house today (and in her tiny bedroom, woo!) then DS is going to his grandparents until Sunday afternoon and so I joked with dp that she can come any time after today as we'd be ready then. Grin I wonder if she heard me and agreed!

ng1412 · 26/04/2013 12:56

Oooh everyone is having stuff happen, am I the only one who isn't? Feels like it!!

All very exciting though. Wonder who wil be next?

SevenReasonsToSmile · 26/04/2013 13:05

tiger contractions started a couple of hours after show for me, though MW said I was already 3cm dilated so I guess early labour had already started without me realising. I can't compare it to DD as my first sign of labour was my waters breaking.

Thanks for the well wishes. No idea if its just a bug or not, everyone else is fine though.

Thank you to you all for making me feel better about driving test. I'm just frustrated that I have to wait so long for the next one.

I've no signs of labour either. Despite not stopping with unpacking, cleaning, walking etc. I think he's happy in there.

I eventually got hold of a midwife, she doesn't think it's my show and that it's just because if the speculum, she booked me in for a scan on Monday to check everything too just to make sure. I've no more stomach cramps or anything either, I guess she isn't going to make an appearance this weekend, I'll just enjoy the rest of the weekend with my feet up then as soon as DS goes off to his grans.

beaut I'm impressed that you managed to go through with your test ontop of moving house and making a baby :o

ThePurpleGirl · 26/04/2013 16:54

Hello everyone, I'm a bit late to the thread... I was literally about to post my intro message just over a month ago to say hello, but the excitement of posting on here must have proved too much as I went into premature labour! My EDD was 9th May, but I gave birth to my little girl Jessica Rose on 23rd March, almost seven weeks early! Shock

I hope it's okay to still join in on the May thread despite my March arrival, as I was following everyone's stories on here for a few months while plucking up the courage to post, so feel more at home here than the March thread.

Sorry it's taken so long to post, but we've only just made it home from hospital - we had to wait until Jessica was off all the monitors, and was gaining weight without any top ups through a nasal gastric tube, and then just as we were getting there I was hit with a severe case of mastitis and had to be on IV antibiotics for a week! All is well with both of us now.

Here's my birth story:

Lounging around with the laptop reading mumsnet in bed on a Saturday morning, my waters just suddenly broke at 11am (yes I know I'm lazy and should have been up by then!). By the time we packed a bag and got to hospital an hour later I was having contractions three minutes apart. I still didn't really think it was happening, so didn't think to ask for any pain relief. They gave me some gas and air, but by the time I asked if maybe I could have something more, the midwife had a look and said it was too late as I was 10cm dilated and she could see the head! Jessica was then born at 14:33, so just over three and a half hours from start to finish!

Congratulations to the others who have already met their little ones, and good luck to all of you still waiting! Grin
