Welcome back all June-ers, just realised we were about to run out of space on the old thread.

My last one was under 2 hrs (from even realising it was starting) so yes will be calling as soon as I realise!! Was a bit too quick really so hope this isn't quicker!!

AmIGoingMad · 06/05/2013 07:39

Sunny- so sorry about your cat. It's really sad Hmm Good to hear you have lovely neighbours though.

On the arnica front- I bought the 6 pillules yesterday as I couldn't remember which strength to get. Will that be useless?

SunnyL · 06/05/2013 07:55

Thanks AmI. Empty house at the moment but we're getting over it. Just want to erase the last hour of his life from my memory as its horrible to see an animal so distressed.

The arnica thing is a little controversial. Basically there is a difference between natural remedies and homeopathy pills. Arnica cream works well as it is stock of the actual plant and therefore the natural material that can reduce bruising. The pills are sugar pills with the 'memory' of arnica in it. So really they are intended as a placebo. No issue with that - placebos can and do work on many people. it's down to personal preference whether you believe in it. Medical science doesn't beleive there are active ingredients in it that help but medical science does believe in the benefits placebos can bring people. Basically it won't harm you to take it so if it makes you feel better go for it.

ginauk84 · 06/05/2013 08:29

learner I have got the 200c, how often did you take it during and after?

Littlemissexpecting · 06/05/2013 08:56

Learner yes that thread has gone a bit mad.
Sunny that's interesting.
I'll have a think. There is so much that you read but you just can't verify if it actually helps from Arnica, raspberry leaf, perineal massage...

Littlemissexpecting · 06/05/2013 08:58

Arlandria if he's breech that sounds about right. If your concerned though call your mw.
This lo is head down so pressing on my bladder occasionally, and kicking me in the ribs. Still quite high though as his bump feels like its going to pop out of my chest sometimes.

learnermummy · 06/05/2013 09:09

Gina will try and remember and get back to you. As a scientist I'm well aware that homeopathy should be nonsense but its worked wonders for me in the past - not just arnica. Plus it works in animals which is intriguing.

learnermummy · 06/05/2013 09:09

So sorry about your cat sunnyHmm

Hawkmoth · 06/05/2013 09:13

Sorry about your cat.

I took arnica pillions both times so have no way of knowing if they made a difference or not. After an episiotomy though it was nice to think something was helping!

SunnyL · 06/05/2013 09:35

As a scientist too I'm wary of promoting homeopathy based on the ingredients in the pills. However it is clear that the belief system plays a significant role in health and its not fully down to chemical reactions - otherwise simple things like talking therapy wouldn't work - we'd all be dosed up on anti-depressants and the like.

cyclecamper · 06/05/2013 09:37

Morning everyone. Another bright sunny day on the maternity ward. Still no baby. Everyone else in the bay has gone again, so I'm enjoying the quiet. The shower here is so good it was a struggle to get it cool enough!

Littlemissexpecting · 06/05/2013 10:04

Cycle if my house is like a sauna I can only imagine what a maternity ward is like in this weather. At least the shower is good though, nothing worse than a trickler!
I discovered DHs boxers last night and so comfy!! Don't think DH is impressed but I'm converted!

kiwi5 · 06/05/2013 11:44

Hi all. Have been monumentally rubbish at posting. Am trying to slow down at work and home so hoping to post a bit more.
Cycle- hope things start moving for u soon.
I am 34.1 with number two child. Feel enormous. Way bigger than with dd.
Just recovering from a d and v bug-yuck!
Other than that feeling ok. Tons of braxton hicks and an overwhelming desire to clean windows!
Happy bank holiday monday

Sunbeam18 · 06/05/2013 13:14

Wow, Learner - didn't know that was possible. I've heard too many stories about labours lasting several days!

cyclecamper · 06/05/2013 13:33

Sunbeam me too! It's hard to be calm about it when you keep getting regaled with tales of 72 hour labours and so on! I'm only going to listen to tales of labour lasting less than 5 hours Grin

Hawkmoth · 06/05/2013 13:46

What on earth are pillions? Stupid iPad. I'm sulking today, feeling useless, depressed and paranoid. Pfft.

Just ordered a load of plants online. I can look forward to watching DH getting sweaty in the garden when they arrive.

SunnyL · 06/05/2013 15:38

Aww Hawkmoth. I know your pain. I fell out with DH this morning while he was unconscious because the way he was sleeping was pissing me off. Bless him he's sent me all sorts of nice texts this morning to make up for the fact that his wife is an irrational crabby witch.

Just got to get through the next 3 days then I'll feel so much better. Got an awful 3 day meeting to attend with a witch who drives me mad. Thankfully I'm taking reinforcements with me who are giving me prep talks along the lines of 'ignore her, rise above it, be the grownup'. Trouble is I'm 8 months pregnant and not particularly in the mood to be sensible - very very tempted to cause absolute uproar since I know I won't be back at work til January.

Mantra for the next 3 days is 'keep evil thoughts to yourself'.

DontmindifIdo · 06/05/2013 16:34

Sunny - no don't do that, because if you leave being the crazy lady, when you return, people will remember that about you!

Oh god the BH is getting worse, it's kind of like early labour with DS now, I keep getting myself panicked, then it stops. I'm slightly worried I'm going to be quite far gone before I believe it's real this time round...

Hawkmoth - glad it's not just me who's nesting instinct has combined with sunshine and focussed on the garden, I've just been reseeding the lawn and watering all the new plants I put in last week.

Must make myself to sort out the house tomorrow/wednesday.

Littlemissexpecting · 06/05/2013 16:42

We're also using our 'nesting' instinct in the garden. Well DH is, I'm sitting giving orders while drinking ginger beer, eating ice cream and putting the occasional plant in a pot!
I sulked for most of last night when I tried calling DH yesterday afternoon and he didn't answer. Turns out he couldn't find his mobile. I threatened to not phone him when I actually was in labour, even though I know I'll need him more than ever.

pinkapples · 06/05/2013 17:26

Is it me or is anyone else having serious issues with sausage fingers and toes? I've had to take off my engagement ring and wedding ring (hoping I can at least get my wedding ring back on when I've cooled a bit) but there's no chance my engagement ring is getting back on not till after baby is born I'm thinking the heat has something to do with it to but it's so sore I've got such chubby fingers Confused

MrsBri · 06/05/2013 17:54

Yeah, I've gone fat fingered today. Both of my rings are off :-( Nothing else has swollen though. Yet.
