Welcome back all June-ers, just realised we were about to run out of space on the old thread.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
learnermummy · 09/05/2013 22:28

Gosh wonder why third one is small. Best if luck.

Littlemissexpecting · 10/05/2013 04:55

Arlandria and red welly glad your babies are ok.
Lots of visits to the hosp going on its getting scary.
Cycle great to hear how your getting on and so exciting that you could get home so soon.
I've got mw this morning (managed to squeeze me in after missing appt earlier in wk) then DH and I are off for our little baby moon. Fingers crossed all ok at mw so I can go! At last appt she was concerned about my bp and baby's heart rate being high so made me sit for 20 mins then go back in so with also having swelling I'm hoping its all fine today.
Anyone else wide awake?

maisiebeem · 10/05/2013 06:17

Ooo yes, I've been awake for a while!
Turns out that my persistent itching is Obstretic cholestasis- an issue with my liver! Which means that they want to induce me early- (at 37+1, I'm 35+2 currently)
I'm not sure how I feel about being induced, I agree that I need to have baby early, but would rather not be medically induced, as I know not can be a very long drawn out process! Thinking of starting nipple stimulation, kicking up the doses of raspberry leaf tea, and finally having sex! But not sure how much of any of this is actually proven to bring on labour!
Littlemiss- fingers crossed for mw appt today, a baby moon sounds like exactly what the doctor ordered, surely that would be the best way to bring down your bp!

SunnyL · 10/05/2013 08:16

Hello ladies - sounds like some of you are really going through the wars. Keep safe and keep healthy.

Quick Q - I've been using this fabulous bump oil my mum got me a few months ago but it's run out. Apparently I can only buy it online and it's freaking £18!! Sooooo - can anyone recommend some nice bump oil that I can ideally buy in a shop and doesn't cost a fortune? I know it's genetics etc that dictate stretch marks but the oil just feels so nice.

MrsBri · 10/05/2013 08:26

Littlemiss, I hope you get to your baby moon ok :-)

Maisie, another May baby being lined up. Not all inductions are long winded. I hope everything goes well between now and then.

Sunny, Bio Oil is apparently half price on Amazon at the moment. My mum has ordered some for me. I've not used it before, but I know people swear by it. Otherwise, I don't know.

Hope everyone has a good day. :-)

AmIGoingMad · 10/05/2013 08:49

Sorry red- must have missed your post. Good to hear that babyred is doing well!

Little miss- hope that all goes well at your appt and that you enjoy babymoon!

I'm still in bed ill grrr! But on more positive front decided that if I can't get to the shop it will have to come to me- Tesco should be bringing cheesecake before the end of the day.

Also wish I'd had my marks order delivered here instead of to shop as now I know its waiting for me and I can't get it.

What are all you second timers doing on the present for dc1 from dc2 front? Or third timers- did you do it and did it help?

redwellybluewelly · 10/05/2013 10:10

AmI I was going to get DC1 > DC2 a teddy bear but have as yet failed to find a nice one, quite like the jellycat range, especially the musical elephant and then from DC2 > DC1 I was going to get a weighted baby doll but DC1 has just been given a new soft cloth doll and so scuppered that plan.

My other option is a fairy dress from Not on the High Street, which will go down a treat!

Baby welly moving more today but combined with a few rubbish nights, a big work event tomorrow (all day) and a nasty cough I'm fairly shattered. Brew to all those under the weather!

learnermummy · 10/05/2013 11:00

Maisie when my bio oil ran out I got some palmers cocoa butter skin therapy oil from boots which is lovely and cheaper Smile. Have heard that pound shops do a copy of bio oil which is good but not tried it. Also saw a copy in home bargains recently, but again not tried it.

As for pressies from baby, ds2 bought ds1 some toy cars which went down a treat. Think it did help. Mine are older now so probably won't bother esp as ds2 is soooo excited.

Hope you manage a bit of a rest today Red Brew

Sunbeam18 · 10/05/2013 11:12

One hour left at work before mat leave! Feels good, and its sunny in Edinburgh today! Whoop, life feels good.
Hope everyone having problems feels better x

AmIGoingMad · 10/05/2013 11:14

Thank! Great suggestions! Hadn't even thought of DS getting dc2 a present too- oops!

Cheesecake, chocolate and crisps are now in the building!!!! Yey! Fruit too of course but let's face it, I'm not as excited about that!Grin

AmIGoingMad · 10/05/2013 11:14

Enjoy that last hour and your leaving lunch!Smile

MrsBri · 10/05/2013 11:46

Yay, Sunbeam! Feels good doesn't it?

I've had to log in to work today to do a couple of statements which I still have due. Bit of a bugger, but at least I get paid for them, and every little helps. :-)

Can't really be arsed. Oh well!

But it's raining here, so not like I'd be out and about anyway.

ginauk84 · 10/05/2013 12:39

I have been really struggling with SPD the last few days, had it off and on from 28 weeks but didn?t really stop me doing anything. Now at 33 weeks I am hobbling around, can?t put any weight on my left leg and wondering how I will cope if it continues to get worse for another 7 weeks (probably 9!). Will raise it with midwife next Thursday see if I can get some physio. The poor dogs are not getting walks as I just can?t walk hardly at all without pain now. Boo hoo.

However I then had an email saying I had won some Thorntons Viennese Truffles via their facebook page ? hoorah, that cheered me up and am looking forward to devouring them when they arrive ? they are my favourite choccies in the world!

We had our first antenatal on Wednesday and it was interesting, didn?t learn a lot but did learn bits here and there but I think it was good for hubby as I tend to get a lot of my info from my weekly emails which he doesn?t get.

Question on rubbing your belly ? how much do you do it? I don?t tend to rub it that much, only when she might have a foot stuck out or something like that but this one woman in antenatal was rubbing for the whole hour constantly, all I could hear was her rustling her top as she was sitting right behind me.

Just ordered the cutest father?s day pressie for daddy, a t-shirt for him saying pint and a t-shirt for baby saying half pint ? super cute!!

Littlemissexpecting where are you going? I want to go on a babymoon too but think the SPD would mean I would be a bit restricted to the hotel, be okay if it was a spa hotel though!

SunnyL ? I got some cheap oil from B&M or Home Bargains or pound shop.

Finally got round to sorting my profile on here too just put a bump progress piccie up. Wow that was a long one - sorry!

SunnyL · 10/05/2013 12:57

Thanks for the bump oil recommendations. If anyone is rich and wants some I've been using Boo Boo Mummy Super Stretchy Miracle oil. As I'm not rich anymore I'm going to try some of your suggestions.

Just back from my 36 week midwife appointment. Both of us are spectacularly healthy which is great. I did get told I should probably pack my bag though. She doesn't think I'll go early but in her experience those that don't have a bag get extra stressed if they do have to send their DH home to get stuff and end up wearing a rather eclectic selection of clothes. I've been working on the basis that if I don't pack my bag then I can't go into labour until I'm ready - apparently it doesn't work that way though!

redwellybluewelly · 10/05/2013 13:47

SunnyL I haven't packed my bag yet, its top of my list for Sunday because yesterday while I was waiting to be monitored there was a woman opposite me in early stages of labour not so patiently having to explain what items she needed to her dad! Cringe factor was fairly high Grin

Sunbeam enjoy the maternity leave! I've two more weeks to go!

On the up side I have just found 2 wine gums in my desk drawer.

Sarah2506 · 10/05/2013 14:20

Last day last day last day!!

Moral dilemma. Proceedings have just issued on what will be a massive case. If I start the ball rolling now I could knock through most the prep work in six hours. It will take someone who is unfamiliar a few days.

Do I a) crack on and stay till 8pm on my last day or b) pretend I never received advanced warning and let some other poor sod deal with it Monday?

I kind of know the answer already :-)

MrsBri · 10/05/2013 14:43

Some other poor sod, Sarah! There is no way you're to stay late today :-)

Besides, whoever is taking over the file will need to review it, so it'll be good for them to do the prep too!

redwellybluewelly · 10/05/2013 15:12

Somebody else Sarah!

Honestly!

b b b

forgetmenots · 10/05/2013 15:42

To quote Malcolm Tucker, you need to adopt the phrase NOMFUP, Sarah. No way.

AlohaMama · 10/05/2013 16:17

AmI dc#2 is giving D's a battery operated james train (that way he'll love her forever) and a sticker book he can play with in hospital when they visit. He'll go with dh to choose a toy to give to her.

Congrats on those finishing work. Hope you're finishing for the day Sarah and not staying late!

Gina I'm not a big belly rubber. Tend to have my hand there when she's moving as I like to feel it, and sometimes it's just the most convenient place to rest my hand but not so much of the rubbing.

Sunny I just use body shop cocoa butter. Smells yum.

Feel like me and dh are on shifts right now. He stayed up to work till 4.15an, I was knackered so was asleep by 8pm, so him coming into bed this morning woke me up and then I wasn't tired so I got up at 4.45am to have breakfast. Suspect I won't see him for half the day now...

grainmum · 10/05/2013 16:28

SunnyL packing my bag has theoretically been at the top of my list for all of this week's maternity leave... I just haven't quite got there yet. Maybe I'll go and do it right now!

Having a bit of a wobble today - last night was our last NCT ante-natal class and they had a couple with a 16 week baby. They had a difficult time - breastfeeding difficulties had to go to formula, colic causing constant crying for the first 7 weeks, and Mum had postnatal depression although now fine on anti-depressants. Has shaken my confidence a bit and made me quite worried about the whole thing and how I would cope with the same situations....

Hawkmoth · 10/05/2013 16:44

Been signed off work for two weeks, doubt I will go back before 36 weeks so likely that this is it. Was getting ready for work and just crying my eyes out five minutes up the road, all a bit much.

Still, being at home isn't much easier. Had a traumatic trip to asda today, DS got lost, screaming tears. He also pulled the trolley into his face and bust his nose. Blood and more screaming tears. My SPD went bonkers so am dosed up on painkillers, stupidly forgetting my plan to have a glass of wine with DH tonight.

I'm going to have to accept my limitations sooner rather than later. Pfft.

The baby is fine though. Measuring big for dates apparently, which is smashing. My other two were six pound something, so I might actually have a nice bouncing baby this time... The growth curve is based on previous babies so I'm hoping it will actually turn out a normal weight.

ginauk84 · 10/05/2013 16:45

grainmum everyone keeps saying are you excited and I am not - is that a bad thing. I am scared about how our lives will change and sometimes when I look at the little clothes I feel a little excited but then it turns into oh my god just what have we done. So I think it's only natural.

BumbleBee2011 · 10/05/2013 17:07

Wow, I thought I'd pop in to this thread to see how everyone's doing (thread 6??! I am quite a way behind, not managing to keep up at all) - massive congrats to those whose littlies have arrived!! Smile Just wow...

Still feels like ages for us, not due for another 7 weeks! Though last night I did have the "oh my god" moment, more to do with thinking how will my DD ever cope with not being the baby anymore? (We've moved her into a toddler bed this week so she'll hopefully forget her cot by the time DD2 needs it. Cue me blubbing hysterically while the cot was being dismantled...)

Going to try and catch up now - watching back to back CBeebies as DD has a fever today and only wants to watch TV :(

pinkbear82 · 10/05/2013 17:47

glad to see I'm not the only one with mixed emotions... delighted and excited one moment and in denial about the whole thing another Confused really want to meet bubs but the longer it holds on possibly the better.
had a lovely baby shower last night, my bff organised it all, and altho not really my thing have to say I really enjoyed it.

had second check up of the week with midwife got a gold star for getting my bp down to better levels and clear on my urine. Smile Got big lecture on taking it easy and not over doing it - and had to promise I would slow down.

packed baby's hospital bag this afternoon, and it's now sat with mine. still in denial about needing them.... but they are there should when I need them.

best friend who is a nurse, and her mum's a midwife, told me off for not taking my notes EVERYWHERE with me now. bags can be collected, notes are vital in case anything happens..... I duely nodded and said I'd put them in my handbag!!
