Welcome back all June-ers, just realised we were about to run out of space on the old thread.

OP posts:

Hmmm...I'd never heard of a push present and don't want one. Our money is for baby now. And I thought eternity rings were for your 10th anniversary? We haven't even been married a year yet, so that's definitely premature! :-)

DH has only ever had a pregnant wife, so birth will mark the moment he has a wife who isn't pregnant, which is quite amusing!

Think I need to get up. DH is asleep. I can't sleep. I'm seriously resenting that he can!! I'm also hungry!

Anyone got any interesting plans this weekend?

AmIGoingMad · 04/05/2013 09:07

Morning all!
Good to hear that you're feeling a bit better cycle Smile

Gnomski sorry I must've have missed that post while catching up in thread. Good to hear baby is staying put for now.

No push present talk here. Didn't get one last time unless you count the late night dash to get some lansinoh for my injured nipples. That was probably better to be honest and he also wrote encouraging cards from himself and DS at the same time as I was so wiped out and worried I wasn't doing a good job. If I'm honest I'm half wondering if I should get him something as he's been amazing especially with sorting out do much for DS while I'm knackered constantly!

Have a lovely bank holiday wkend ladies! Raining lots here at the moment but at least I know it's a three day wkend!

Steffanoid · 04/05/2013 09:54

hmm had never heard of push presents before, although it's my birthday 11 days after my edd so I might just get spoiled for that, although I may drop hints that the camera I want shouldn't class as a birthday present as it'll be full of baby pictures

learnermummy · 04/05/2013 10:13

I always thought eternity rings were for first babies which is when I got mine. Would like a new ring for my 10 th anniversary but my fingers are a little chubby right now.

Just about to check in to our spa hotel here having abandoned kids with grandparents without raincoats. Bad mummy.

MrsBri · 04/05/2013 10:55

Eternity rings are an idea made up by jewellers to sell more diamonds! :-)

I certainly wouldn't want the money to be spent on one right now. Each to their own though!

massagegirl · 04/05/2013 11:23

Morning!
Did anyone have bad reaction to whooping cough jab? Had it yesterday and am laid up in bed feeling bloody awful, aching muscles, headache, temp etc. have called triage and they said to take paracetamol and rest and to call them if I'm worried about babies movements, which I'm not. Had fun weekend of catching up with friends planned and now literally can't get out of bed :(
Hope everyone has relaxing long weekends and all the babies stay inside for a while longer.

SunnyL · 04/05/2013 13:45

Hi all.

Had a really shitty morning. Doorbell went this morning when I was in bed. It was my neighbour saying he thought my cat had been hit by a car. We got him to the vets but his back was broken. Poor fella. We had to have him put down. DH is devastated as he was most definately his cat.

All this after the dog having an op yesterday at the same vets for some horrible growth on her head which was also quite worrying.

Hoping for a quiet few days now.

Steffanoid · 04/05/2013 13:57

oh im so sorry sunny, it's horrid when something like that happens,
im not really sure how but dp has offered for us to host a BBQ tomorrow afternoon for people so just had to go do shopping for that Sad

MrsBri · 04/05/2013 13:58

Oh no, Sunny, how horrible :-(

Make sure you and DH look after each other.

pinkbear82 · 04/05/2013 16:08

oh sunny so sorry to hear that. poor kitty. he'll be pain free over rainbow bridge and be able to play freely.

hope sunnydog is feeling a bit better today too. they are funny with their cones of shame on - they can perfect the hang dog expression!! sending love and hugs x

Littlemissexpecting · 04/05/2013 16:56

Sunny sorry to hear about ginger ninja.
Massagegirl hope your feeling a bit better. I felt rough for a few days after mine and arm hurt for about a week.
Just back from aqua natal I really enjoy it. Very tired now though the smallest of activities tires me out.

Littlemissexpecting · 04/05/2013 16:58

Steff make sure DP does the tidying up after the BBQ. It serves him right for inviting. I don't mind the entertaining part it's the tidying before and after that is the work, even worse when heavily pregnant.

pinkapples · 04/05/2013 17:59

Sorry about your kitty make sure hubby looks after you SadThanks

I've got aqua natal tomorrow littlemiss didn't go last week as I had an eye infection but looking forward to getting in the warm water tomorrow

RueDeWakening · 04/05/2013 18:16

I've just come on here for a moan, have spent today hosting a 6th birthday party - so DH took the kids out earlier so I could tidy up & get ready, then he was in charge of DS while I sorted out DD and her friends. Have waved off the last guest and basically collapsed!

Despite paracetamol earlier, I can hardly move Hmm my back/hips/etc are agony and we still have to put the kids to bed. Argh! 12 days to go... (Not that I'm counting down or anything Wink)

Littlemissexpecting · 04/05/2013 18:27

Rue bath and early bed for you. Maybe a back rub if DH is feeling generous?
I've told DH it's very important he practices the massage techniques we learnt at nct so every night I get a 10 minute back massage while I'm on my ball Smile

Steffanoid · 04/05/2013 18:52

little miss dont you worry, he's already mopped all downstairs and tidied some with more in the morning and he's off Monday so He can tidy all over again dont you worry, I'll make sure he does the hard work, especially if my hips start hurting or im knackered after an anniversary party tonight Grin

SunnyL · 04/05/2013 19:39

Back again and a bit more upbeat. Thanks for all the nice messages. Sunny dog is indeed keeping me company.

On the 'push present' thing (fab name) a friend conned told her husband that it wasn't an eternity ring it was a MATernity ring. He fell for it. My DH is too canny though and knows an eternity ring is technically for your 10th anniversary and is probably something made up by H Samuel to sell more diamonds. Still I'm vaguely hopeful he might get me something....

pinkapples · 04/05/2013 19:56

Hehe sunny dogs always do that don't they when your feeling down they always manage to cheer you up

Told my hubby today about a push present and dropped the hint about the ring it's also our 3rd anniversary this year about 3 weeks after baby is due and its my birthday 4 days before baby's due date so I think all 3 occasions combined deserves something hehe I remain hopeful

pinkbear82 · 04/05/2013 20:34

ah ladies this talk of push presents is interesting.... I'm wondering what I can tell dp he can get me, belated once he's out. And surely the fact he's missing the labour, the foot rubs and back rubs and caused such extra stress it should be something extra special.......

all went well with landlords this morning, so I don't have to pack up and move out as well as everything else. a huge relief. They want two months rent as a security deposit just to make sure, so I'm afraid I called dp's parents as they did say if I needed help they would. but quite a relief.

hope everyone has a good evening and pains settle down. this growing baby's lark is quite hard work!

forgetmenots · 04/05/2013 21:37

I'm with mrsbri on push pressies, normally I'm awful for hinting for a treat from DH, but I even felt guilty spending £30 on myself the other day and not on baby, and times aren't that bad! If he turned up with something pricey I'd be racked! Hope he knows this actually... Hmm

He has booked me in for a pedicure and mum-to-be massage when I finish work though, so I will accept that with grace...

Great news on your landlords pinkbear!

forgetmenots · 04/05/2013 21:38

Just saw about your cat, Sunny - sorry to hear that Flowers

MrsBri · 04/05/2013 22:10

That's excellent news, pink :-) I assume DP's parents are obliging?

Forget, I out and out told DH that I'd be furious if he got me anything! I don't think he was even considering it, but it's best I told him :-)

AlohaMama · 05/05/2013 00:29

Sorry to hear about the cat sunny, very sad. And hope yours comes home soon pink.

Sounds like everyone is too busy doing too much. I keep getting these email reminders from pregnancy sites saying how I should be resting and putting my feet up. Hmm fantasy versus reality!

On the push presents topic, I thought Eternity Ring was traditionally given on the birth of your first child? Anyway that was what dh and I both thought so happily he did buy me a lovely ring. It was kind of like the special engagement ring we couldn't afford when we got married as he was just finishing his PhD. I may have hinted a teensy bit, but I do love it and it is one of those once in a lifetime type of gifts. Not expecting anything for this baby, but have been hinting about how nice it would be to have a prenatal massage for mothers day (next weekend in US)!
