Ooh Bronze, how exciting! Congratulations! I was totally expecting a girl with first as my family only have girls (1 male and 14 females in my generation, similar in my parents) so was gobsmacked when I was told it was a boy at 20 week scan. Boys are great (secretly hoping this one is a boy as well Smile).

And yes yes to baby brain, but mostly at work which is just embarrassing, as really trying to avoid being pregnant as an excuse for being daft. Keep having conversations in meetings about 'the email that I sent you last week', while everyone looks at me blankly because said email does not exist - this happens at least once a week Blush.

BowlFullofJelly · 12/04/2013 14:48

Flyer have you had your scan?

Flyer747 · 12/04/2013 15:07

BowlFull yes I had mine 2 days ago (Wednesday) got put forward 6 days, so now 13+5 still suffering from nausea and tiredness though hoping it would have buggered off by now!! I think it was just pinkmoomlight and someone else today scanning today :-)

MotherOfNations · 12/04/2013 15:38

Baby brain can be bloody dangerous. I narrowly missed being badly burned by the iron last week as when I'd finished ironing I folded the ironing board with the iron still plugged in and sitting on it.
As it landed at my feet I just stood and stared dumbly for a few seconds trying to work out what had just happened.

TheFalconsmistress · 12/04/2013 16:13

Thanks Mon :)

Mw went well she could not say and more about my thyroid issues as she could not look at my bloods done by the hospital but I got to hear babys heartbeat :) took a bit of poking about but she they are there!

Congrats on the boy new bronze

roofio87 · 12/04/2013 16:23

BowlFullofJelly · 12/04/2013 17:01

Oh ok - must be the baby brain flyer Grin

Flyer747 · 12/04/2013 17:09

I had baby brain before conceiving bowlfull or maybe that's just blondeness!!! :-) x

BowlFullofJelly · 12/04/2013 17:13

See I am blonde, but it's not, hmm, remotely entirely natural, so not sure I can blame that either Wink

Natalieand · 12/04/2013 17:55

Don't think it matters roofio I saw midwife today 13+4 and she has booked me in for when ill be 17+5 so it must be ok lol. She was gunna see me the week on my scan 19+4 but she is on holiday that week!

Excellent news on the baby boybronzexxx

ananikifo · 12/04/2013 18:00

Hi everyone. Congrats Bronze! You're so lucky to learn the sex now.

We had our scan today. Everything was fine but it took forever to get a good angle and that was boring and a bit uncomfortable. No NT because we opted out. They gave us an appointment for the 20 week scan. We walked straight to the office where I worked until last week (conveniently located next to antenatal clinic) and showed my colleagues. Everyone was appropriately happy for us and DH thought it was funny seeing their faces when they saw my bounty pack. Since then we've been phoning the world and getting super excited.

We were going to have dinner with DH's parents and grandparents but his mom had a scan of her own today and is radioactive for 24 hours (everything's ok though) so we've postponed until tomorrow. So we get to spend the evening celebrating as a couple, which is kind of nice.

Flyer747 · 12/04/2013 18:09

Congrats ananikifo Glad all went well :-)

Flyer747 · 12/04/2013 18:30

Can we eat feta cheese in pregnancy getting conflicting stories on the Internet. DP just been shopping in m&s and bought back a lush feta salad thing. Thanks

ananikifo · 12/04/2013 18:31

Flyer feta is fine. Enjoy your salad!

roofio87 · 12/04/2013 18:42

flyer its another one of those "yes if its made with pasturized milk" things. my friend is a cheese buyer for tesco (yes that really is a job!) and said that all big supermarkets only sell cheeses safe in pregnancy. if they don't say then they are made with pasturized milk!! so I'm sure your m&s salad is fine!!

roofio87 · 12/04/2013 18:43

I mean by that that all their cheeses are made with pasturized milk, they obviously also sell things we can't have like brie and blue cheeses!!

Flyer747 · 12/04/2013 18:47

Smashing super duper thank you ladies

pinkmoonlight · 12/04/2013 19:34

Thank you for the good luck messages lovely ladies- all was well and I cried a bit when baby came on the screen. I can't believe the difference between today and a 6 week scan! Today it was properly wiggling around in there! Slap bang in the middle of normal for all measurements and NT was 2.3- looked online and apparently that's fine but the scan lady said that as it was higher end of normal she wants the consultant to be at my next scan. She then emphasised that I shouldn't worry, but of course I am a bit! I was given the Downs risk there and then on paperwork- 1 in almost 3000 so am pleased with that. We heard the heartbeat too :)

Spent the rest of the day with my family as they told relatives and went shopping for some lovely things for baby and also some maternity trousers. I think I've only realised how uncomfortable I've been now I've got these jeans on- they are fantastic!

OrangeBlossom2 · 12/04/2013 19:52

Congrats pink and bronze!

Wickedgirl · 12/04/2013 20:26

Wow.......we are getting close to the end of another thread!

Pinkmoonlight......how far are you?

Shirehobbit · 12/04/2013 20:51
Smile Hello everyone - I don't know if I'm in the right place, or if you mind me joining you, but I'm due 13th Oct with our first. It's taken us a while to get to this stage, so I've avoided forums as I didn't want to tempt fate. Just thought I'd say hello and hope you are all healthy and happy (and have waved goodbye to first trimester yuckiness) Hope you all have a lovely weekend Grin
ananikifo · 12/04/2013 21:03

Welcome, shirehobbit! You're definitely in the right place! Congrats on making it through the first trimester!

char1eston · 12/04/2013 21:10

Thanks tarlia - just checked on easyjet q & a and you're right. I fly back exactly at 28 weeks - will prob get a certificate just in case

roxvox · 12/04/2013 21:17

Evening ladies! I've had my first day this week where I haven't come home utterly exhausted and full of headaches/migraine! However I am getting some major stomach cramps today. Anyone else?

Congrats pink and bronze; any pictures for us?!

Smitten1981 · 12/04/2013 21:19

Pink, I wouldn't worry my NT was 2.9 and she said that was well within the normal range, they only start to be more cautious if it's over 3.5mm.

I wouldn't be very happy about being worried unnecessarily by the sonographer. They sound a bit OTT to me!
