Thanks for the info re making your own appointments. Is it the same for ultrasound appointments? When did people call for this?

I thought I wanted a girl but when I imagine it I see a boy. I wish I was someone who had enough resolve to wait to find the sex but I'm not! But I haven't decided whether we'll tell other people. Is seems a bit mean not sharing when we know, but there's also something nice about holding that secret.

I've just called the hospital to cancel my CVS today. I think I'll be better of waiting for the amnio. Dp will be happy as the test will reveal what we're having. He's talked me into finding out.
I've had to fasten my jeans with a hair elastic today. I feel like a fat lump. I never get the nice neat bump that other women get.

pinksky · 11/04/2013 09:43

MoN glad you've decided to cancel and stick with the amino. I'm just bloated! Was going to buy one of those things that extend your trousers. Have you ever tried them? Elastic band is a good idea!

I'm convinced I'm having a girl. I see myself having another girl but wouldn't mind a boy either Smile

OrangeBlossom2 · 11/04/2013 11:14

MoN you mentioned that some of the possible problems only affect girls, so it might be reassuring to find out the sex to maybe rule some things out?

OrangeBlossom2 · 11/04/2013 11:23

Hayle did you have such bad sickness last time too?

MotherOfNations · 11/04/2013 11:34

I could really be doing with some maternity wear but dont want to jinx things by buying anything. Trouser extender thingys sound good pinksky.

MotherOfNations · 11/04/2013 11:37

Orangeblossom I don't think I get another scan til the day of the amnio itself anyway so will just wait til then to find out both the sex and the diagnosis if any.

Haylebop12 · 11/04/2013 11:47

Yes orange but nowhere near as bad. I'm craving the same stuff though.

OrangeBlossom2 · 11/04/2013 11:52

HG is more likely to indicate a girl isn't it? I think I remember that from when the duchess of Cambridge had it and everyone was speculating.

I have been in my new maternity jeans, jumper dresses and waterfall cardigan all week. I love it, so comfy! I ordered some work trousers from next which are coming tomorrow. I am hoping that they will feel just as nice. It will be going to work in jogging bottoms every day. Smile

roxvox · 11/04/2013 12:00

I had a dream that DH went for the 20 week scan without me. I was sooooo cross, especially because he had found out the sex but was keeping it from me.

I always saw us having a boy, but then as soon as I got the bfp I kept imagining a baby girl. Now I am not at all sure!

roofio87 · 11/04/2013 12:09

I've finally gone for it and am wearing my maternity jeans
they need a belt at the moment but are so much comfier than my normal jeans!!!! I feel like we're having a girl, because I think it looks like a girl in the scan pic Haha, how insane is that!! I really don't care either way though, I love my niece and nephews for different reasons but equally, little boys and little girls are lovely for different reasons!!

Natalieand · 11/04/2013 12:47

Just had the results of NT scan through is says estimated risk of trisomy 21 is 1 in 8180 which I take it is good? It does say its low risk but just wondering what it's like in comparison to other ppls results xx

favellio · 11/04/2013 12:52

To help me stay in my normal clothes a bit longer I bought some bump band things (2 for £8 in Asda) they're like big wide elasticated bands in either black or white and you can have your trousers/jeans undone underneath and they'll hide it, whilst keeping precious bump warm :-)

Scraggyspanner · 11/04/2013 13:03

Hello all,

I'm wondering if I can join your gang...? Grin

I've been watching for a while being happy at seeing good news and sad for those who have received bad news. I had an early miscarriage last year so was nervous to join despite an early scan. This will be my first baby.

I had a scan yesterday which put me at 12+3 with a due date of 20th October and everything looked good.

I'll add myself to the STATs when I get a chance on the laptop.

HotSoupDumpling · 11/04/2013 13:03

favellio - question, do your trousers/jeans stay up underneath the band? I was thinking of buying a few but didn't want to accidentally flash my backside!

cherrycherry41 · 11/04/2013 13:07

Roofio we are 20 wk scan buddys! Roll on 20th may Grin
We have decided to find out the sex this time (had a lovely surprise with DD- would definately recommend waiting if this is your first!). Only reason behind finding out is we need to start replacing all the pink baby stuff if we're having a boy. Having 2 babis is going to be busy and stressful so we need to get stuff sorted before 1 becomes 2!

Warlin · 11/04/2013 13:10

Congrats to all the scanees.

I have my 16 week apt next week...glad you were all talking about as I just checked and now am going to have cancel meetings in work. It seems to have come around very quickly. I will only be 15+5 mind you. I booked it about 3 weeks ago and rang the hospital to book the 20 week scan...I think you can do that at anytime but with the MW people seem to book from one apt to the next.

Does anyone know at what intervals you see the MW when it's your second child. Am I right in saying that its 16 weeks, then the 20 week scan and then you dont see her until maybe 24/ 26 weeks? I dont think there are that many apts. The hospital I'm going to won't tell you the sex so we are going to book a private scan for it. Don't mind as it will be another excuse to the see the baby!

I must say I like pinks and blues...esp for newborns. DS was in baby blues and whites for the first 12 weeks at least before I introduced bolder colours.

orange I was feeling quesy this morning before Breakfast. I had a drink of orange and it nearly made me throw up

ForOneNightYoni · 11/04/2013 13:16

I'm also on the 20th May for my 20 week scan :o (It's PseudoBadger btw...)

34PinkLadyApple · 11/04/2013 13:27

natalie my NT results were 1 in 1798 so i'd say yours is very good but I am 34 so maybe thats a factor (i seem to remember you are in your early 20's?). My NF measurement was 1.6mm. Anyone else got their letter with the risk factor on it?

Had my 16 week appointment this morning, H2B came as I was told at booking appointment they would listen for heartbeat. Was such a quick appointment. Handed over my pee (she tested it there and then for any infections and it was negative), went through my blood results from booking in which were also fine, told me I need to get a flu jab soon and an appointment with the consultant as I'm asthmatic. She said I will get a whooping cough jab at 24 week appointment, then she listened for heartbeat. Took a little while to find which was agonising! First thing we heard was a swooshing noise which she said was baby moving then she found the heartbeat. It was great to hear and H2B stuck both both thumbs up like am uncool dad would do Grin. Got appointment booked for 24 weeks (11th June), booked on Maternity unit tour thingy in May (can't remember date) and put name down for antenatal classes in Aug. Now a long 4 week wait for 20 week scan... Sad. We haven't decided yet whether to find out the sex. I am nosey so want to find out but I think I will regret it when we have 'it' as it won't be a surprise... Nusery is going to be pale green and animal theme anywa. At least if we don't find, my mother in law won't be able to buy too much pink or blue shite, viscose, off the market, fake cartoon character outfits clothes.

favellio · 11/04/2013 13:36

Hi hotsoup, no haven't had a problem with my trousers falling down because the band's pretty tight and I wear it quite low. I've only got button on jeans undone so far though, not sure how it'd be with the zip down too. Smile

Smitten1981 · 11/04/2013 13:57

I feel so ill today, queasy since I woke and now queasy and dog tired. When's all this glowy stuff meant to happen?

Also, does anyone know anything about what I can and can't do at a spa? We booked a girls' spa weekend before I got preggo, and it's this weekend.

I take it I can't go in jacuzzis and saunas, do you reckon the steam room might be ok? Otherwise all I'm going to be able to do is swim and lounge about. Yawn.

ForOneNightYoni · 11/04/2013 14:03

Steam is also a no no I think :(

Soupqueen · 11/04/2013 14:18

I got an unexpected phone call at work this morning.

Had my scan last Wednesday (3rd April) and expected to receive a call within a couple of days if it was bad news, so had thought we were out of the woods.

My risk is 1 in 57. The NT measurement was 1.7, so that (combined with how long it's been since the scan) made me falsely confident. Apparently my HCG levels are very high. It could be nothing, it could be a chromosomal disorder, it could be problems with the placenta...

We're booked in for CVS next Wednesday. I'm a bit shell shocked.

TheFalconsmistress · 11/04/2013 14:33

Sorry to hear that soupqueen fingers crossed you get the all clear xxx
