Hello everyone can I join please? I'm
A bit late to the party but I got a bfp last week- no idea of dates as I've not had a cycle since ds was born in August and I was on the pill! Anyway try sent me for a scan and I expected to see a tiny little heartbeat but actually there is a whole baby in there Shock Apparently I'm 12 weeks 4 days so edd 19th October. No wonder I've been feeling like poo for the last few weeks! Looking forward to getting to know you all.

Natalieand · 10/04/2013 08:26

Wow what a lovely little surprise! How exiting u got to miss all the stress of the first 12 weeks, kind of lol. Welcome :-)

Best of luck to those scanning today :-)

My siatica is agony this morning every time I move it shoots down my leg :-) wondering if its cos I've spent the last few days mainly on a hospital chair being the doting wife lol. Xxx

OrangeBlossom2 · 10/04/2013 08:37

Welcome shooting stars! Congratulations on your scan and happy surprise. You remind me of the ladies on "I didn't know I was pregnant" (I've been lapping up any baby related tv I can find while on Easter hols!) at least you didn't get to 40 weeks without knowing!

Shootingstarsandcomets · 10/04/2013 08:42

Thanks ladies! I've actually started to feel loads better this week so if I hadn't tested last week I wouldn't have bothered this week and I wouldn't have known until sproglet started to wriggle about! I feel terrible because I've only done a week of folic acid and I've definitely had more than one glass of wine a week but the sonographer said it looked like baby was all fine in there.
natalie sciatica - ouch- poor you.

BowlFullofJelly · 10/04/2013 08:44

Wow, welcome shootingstars - quite a dramatic! Congratulations - have you got over the shock yet?

Congrats everyone on scans yesterday and thanks for the pics and good luck to everyone scanning today. Are there more scans next week or are we pretty much done now?

Definitely feeling baby squirming around now - like little tickles on the inside of my tummy. DP reckons he felt it last night but I don't believe him Smile.

natalie you are being very attentive - I would probably have left mine to get on with it Blush.

MoN really pleased to hear your news - although I suppose it has complicated the situation again when you thought you had come to a decision? I really feel for you and your DP - it must be so tough when you don't feel the same. And there is no compromise is there? Thoughts are with you and I really hope this all works out well for you.

OrangeBlossom2 · 10/04/2013 08:57

Bowlful I have my nhs 12 week scan next Wednesday at 13.4 weeks so that might be one of the last? My first was a private scan as I couldn't wait.

thethreeblondies · 10/04/2013 08:58

Welcome ShootingStars we are due date buddies!

Has everyone made their announcements to family and friends now? For some reason I'm really dragging my feet and am almost embarrassed about telling people, it's nearly 48hrs since scan and blood tests and I guess no news is good news! I had a mmc and needed erpc last year so people should know that dc3 is on the cards, DH wants to tell the DD's first, I want to keep it off fb for a bit as I found all the announcements hard when I was ttc, I need to suck it up and just tell peoole this wkend! Sorry for waffling just thinking out loud! Smile

OrangeBlossom2 · 10/04/2013 09:08

Blondies we told parents and siblings on Mother's Day at 6 weeks, then wider family after the scan, but like you we are holding off everyone else for a bit for no real reason. DH doesn't like telling people because he thinks they wont be interested in things like scan pictures and is generally reluctant to do anything grrr. For me It doesn't feel quite real until we have the nhs scan and tests and wont tell all friends until had that. I keep worrying something will go wrong before then. Really nervous about telling my boss on first day back, especially as asking for a pay rise at the same meeting!

Everyone has been really pleased and excited that we have told this week.

roofio87 · 10/04/2013 09:09

morning ladies and congrats shootingstar it must have been made at the scan when you realised it was a full on little baby!! welcome aboard!
I now definitely have a proper little baby bump. its popped right out at the bottom of my tummy. I know its nothing major but being my first baby I find it so exciting. I've always wanted a baby bump and now I have one!!
Natalie glad ur dh is doing ok, hope you're not top bored being the perfect wife!! Smile

HotSoupDumpling · 10/04/2013 09:26

Good luck to everyone today. I was almost chewing my own first off in nerves before my own scan.

Welcome shooting, and congrats!

Natalie keep on being dutiful!

Re parking costs - we have it worst of all as our London hospital doesn't have parking facilities. So its taxi, bus, tube, or walking for us!

34PinkLadyApple · 10/04/2013 10:22

Congrats to all the good scan news ladies and hopefully MoN you will get some clarity at the end of the month, thinking of you.

Im 16 weeks today! Yay! Am off sick today as i had a terrible night. Been bunged up in the bottom area for a while and been eating loads this last week as parents are visiting so takeawsys and meals out.. Got so painfull i asked the pharmisist for something, they gave me Lactolose (nice name!). Had massive fish and chip tea last night then took the poo inducer before bed and was up for hours in agony! Got quite scared as everything was cramping, tummy, bottom, sides! Thought i was having contractions! Feel tired and empty today funnily enough. Even more info which may be too much but i did the longest guff ive ever done in my life, i actually watched my tummy deflated for about 10 seconds Blush. Sorry if u are eating, just thought id warn u if anyone else gets that stuff, take it first thing in the morning unless u want to be up all night! Got my 16 week appointment tomoro morning so should hear heartbeat! Whoop!

roxvox · 10/04/2013 10:38

Congratulations shootingstars and welcome to the bus!

Natalie I am having sciatica problems too if I sit for too long. Particularly on journeys home down to Cornwall (about a 3 hour drive).

34pinkladyapple sounds like the night you had last night was very similar to my Saturday night (although mine was 'something I ate doesn't agree with me' induced rather than lactolose!)... I was in so much pain between 3am and 5am. Was nice to feel empty the day after, but the stomach pains lasted another couple of days.

I am pleased to say that my brown discharge issue appears to have stopped. It only lasted a couple of hours and so I chose not to bother the midwife. I will mention it to her when I see her a week today though.

15 weeks today... So if we are almost at the end of the 12 week scans, then when is everyones 20 week scan booked for?!

roofio87 · 10/04/2013 10:53

my 20 week scan is the 20th may. I can't wait!!Smile

34PinkLadyApple · 10/04/2013 11:02

20weeks scan 8th may here

Haylebop12 · 10/04/2013 11:05

My 20wk is 29/5 (only date dh would make because of work)

Scan yesterday changed my edd to 13/10, not overly pleased about the number 13 being here but hey ho!
Yesterday all in all the scan cost me £9. £1 for a drink to get some change. £3 for pics (got two so dd could have one) and £2 parking!

MoN pleased to hear some positive news but I guess your decision has turned back into a discussion? I hope your dh gets his head round it all and is there for support. I don't think anyone can say what they'd do in your situation until they actually face it.

natalie glad your dh is on the mend. I get annoyed when dh is ill, he's so whiny!

Wow shootingstars if you'd had a first 12 weeks like mine you'd be glad that you only just found out. Congratulations!

roxvox pleased to hear our discharge has settled but yes I would definitely still mention it.

In enjoying a very lazy morning. Dd stopped with my sister last night as they've gone out today so I slept until 10am. Nausea still at a high but having a good scan yesterday helps it to be slightly more bearable if that makes sense.

BowlFullofJelly · 10/04/2013 11:20

20 week scan is 16th May for me. Can't wait for May - Bank holiday, then holiday for 8 days in Spain, one day back at work and then scan on 16th - plus we then have the next bank holiday at the end of the month and then it's my birthday! And then it will be June, and I will only have 3 months left at work before Mat leave starts! Then 4 lovely weeks to spend at home with DS before number 2 arrives (massive cross of fingers that everything goes to plan!)

When I put it like that feels like the pregnancy will fly by - This month just needs to hurry up and be over!!

(apologies for massive overuse of exclamation marks!!!!!!)

roxvox · 10/04/2013 11:22

Our scan was £5 for pictures (I think your meant to get about 5 pics for this, but our baby was so active that the lady got carried away and we ended up with 10 pictures!) and parking was free. However parking at the hospital where we intend to give birth is quite expensive. I think the problem is that there are a lot of bus routes nearby that go into the town, so they probably have (justifiable) concerns that people would use it as a park and ride if it offered free parking.

My 20 week scan is on the 14th May. It seems so flippin far away!

Shootingstarsandcomets · 10/04/2013 11:26

My 20 week scan is 4th June.
pinklady I was permanently on lactulose in my last pregnancy and found that dried apricots worked a treat too.

favellio · 10/04/2013 11:27

Hi everyone! Home from scan. We've got 1 lazy baby in there. He/she was laying face down with their bum in the air, waving arms around their face. Got put forward a couple weeks, so I'm actually 14 weeks today with an EDD of 9th Oct.
Baby measured around 8cm and fluid on neck was 2.3mm Grin

roxvox · 10/04/2013 11:29

Congrats favellio!

TheFalconsmistress · 10/04/2013 11:40

Hello everyone great to hear all the scan news,

shootingstars what a shock Smile welcome

My 20 week scan in May 9th and my 17 week private one is in 10 days :) I am excited an nervous even though im showing and thirsty and tired, It still feels quieter than other weeks iykwim.

I think i have had a few flutters but maybe not I am quite overweight 18/20 size now so even though this is my second i think it will take another few weeks for me!

roxvox · 10/04/2013 11:49

Has anyone had any thoughts re finding out the sex of the baby? We decided we want to know a while ago, but then, the other day, a lady at DH's work has told him how wonderful it is not knowing etc etc and so he's starting to think he would prefer to not know the sex! I am intrigued as to what everyone else is intending to do?

TheFalconsmistress · 10/04/2013 11:52

rovoxmy private scan is just for that as DH is going to be at work when i have my anomoly scan I think its just as fun to know and it great for bonding with your bump :)

Shootingstarsandcomets · 10/04/2013 11:56

roxvox we didn't for our first as we wanted the surprise and it was so lovely when he was lifted up to us and we could see he was a him! Although I was convinced he was a boy from the beginning so felt like I knew all along. This time I think I'd like to know though so we might find out. Not decided yet though.

legallyblond · 10/04/2013 11:56

Will catch up with everyone on a bit but... Eeeek... Having a bit of a scare.

The child of someone I work with has chicken pox and said child was in the office on Friday (childcare breakdown!)....I've not had it. Phones my mw first thing.... She's taking it v seriously and rushing my bloods through (using the bloods from my 12w scan) so I know if I'm immune today of first thing tomorrow. I asked about what would happen if I'm not... She rather ominously said we'd develop a "plan" to deal with it.

It's good it's come up as toddler DD could easily catch it at any time really...

Crossing everything I'm immune!!!
