Good luck to you too triplerock, and everyone else. Woken up ridiculously nervous! Fingers crossed for good healthy scans all round.

frogchops · 24/04/2013 08:04

At the risk of being embarrassed by asking... My mw spoke to me about breast feeding and said that my milk would probably come in on day 3 after birth. So errrr, what happens on day 1 and 2? BlushBlush

flipflump · 24/04/2013 08:04

I've got my scan today too, I'm also at 11.30am. Emotions are running high in this house this morning. Got the morning off, will try and pass the time with some chores.

Good luck to all the other scan ladies, looking forward to lots of good news later. Who's finding out the sex?

flipflump · 24/04/2013 08:06

Frogchops, the first 2 days baby receives around a teaspoon of colostrum at each feed. By day 3 your milk supply has increased and they'll receive your milk.

frogchops · 24/04/2013 08:10

Thanks flip, she didnt explain that bitBlush
Good luck with scans, I'll be checking back for colour news!

CharlW1 · 24/04/2013 08:13

Good luck for everyone having scans today!

I had a consultant appointment yesterday. About my low platelets send anti bodies in my blood - the consultant was so socially inept he barely spoke to me at all, just read my notes and said he'd see me at 28 weeks. I am glad they are keeping an eye on me but I think if I hadn't done so much research myself then I would have come out not having a clue. Big plus point was that as I was waiting so long (1.5 hours) one of the midwifes let me hear the babies heart beat so that was lovely.

kipsonline · 24/04/2013 08:48

Good luck for today's scans lovely ladies..

Has anyone else seen/ used a loola up pushchair?

We got our old micralite down from the loft at the we but it is beyond repair so are having to look at a replacement.. Really don't want to spend much money as will def only be used for this last child (!) so have found a complete and well looked after loola up on local classifieds at £90 (pushchair, pram, car seat adapters etc) ... Seems ok from reviews but just wondered if anyone had a personal experience of??? Ta muchly...

JammyTummy · 24/04/2013 08:57

My app tells me that I can start getting boob leakage this week! Lovely! Also, has anyone started getting nasty leg cramps? They're ever so sore!

Thanks everyone for your advice on baby's foot- much appreciated and I'm feeling better and more positive about it! I think in a way it made me love this little girl even more.

Good luck everyone today for happy little bubbas!

LCR77 · 24/04/2013 10:02

Good luck with scans people, seems like they're coming thick and fast now. God knows why but said my scan was Fri but it's Thurs am. I've thought about nothing else for 8 weeks so can I blame it on baby brain??! Blush

andadietcoke · 24/04/2013 10:37

Has anyone had stomach cramps and tightenings yet (or in previous pregnancies)? As it's my first pg I'm neurotic anyway and I have no idea what's normal and what might be pre term labour.

Readytosettle · 24/04/2013 11:42

I'm slightly concerned I've got an over-active baby....it moves around so much it makes me queasy! I'm also pretty much permanently hungry....is that normal or does it mean I'm not eating enough?

badguider · 24/04/2013 11:53

I am back :)

All is good with the baby - no concerns anywhere and it's measuring right for the 5 September EDD we got at the scan (I think the 12 Sept we worked out before then was maybe confused by my short - 25day - cycles).

No worries at all about my small bump - it's quite normal to just be a bit chunky at this point rather than a 'proper' bump. And the placenta is at the front so that's why no movements felt so far.

I was so enchanted by looking at it's feet and hands and fingers and heart chambers etc that I almost completely forgot about the sex (I am really against gender stereotyping anyway so it doesn't make a lot of difference) but anyway it's a boy.

We were a bit early for our 9am appointment and finished by about quarter past. We checked out parking and entrances for the birthing unit and main maternity unit so we're prepared for both. If all goes smoothly I might not be back there till the big day!
Went to out of town shopping centre afterwards and although i'm still too small for most maternity clothes I did get a good pair of skinny jeans with 'under bump' band from new look and then I got some lovely linen trousers from M&S normal collection in size 14 in navy which will do me for work, and a couple of really nice linen shirts in a size 16 (i'm normally a 12 in M&S) which are lovely (buttons over the bust but plain over the tummy) and a nice tshirt - all from the 'holiday clothes' section so cotton/linen instead of the nasty shiny polyester that most of the maternity 'work trousers' are in next, new look, h&m etc.

So. Good morning.
Goodness only knows how i'm going to sit down and concentrate on work this afternoon!!!

badguider · 24/04/2013 12:40

OMG!!!
Just realised that means we probably know what our boy's going to be called.

We were really sure about one boy's name... had no real idea about girls... I guess it was a sign :)

JammyTummy · 24/04/2013 13:01

Ready I'm the same as you. The sonographer said we might have a busy bee on our hands! I think my 'permanent hunger' actually started about a month ago which coincides with when I started feeling the baby quite a lot.

Badguider we were only really ready with boy names, and I was so so sure that it was a boy I could've bet money on it! Until they said its a girl!Shock

flipflump · 24/04/2013 13:18

Back from scan, baby looks healthy and is a real wriggler, was running on the spot which made us laugh. The little arms were waving around and covering the parts she was trying to measure.

The placenta is lying low and to the front, explains why I can't feel the little fish. I've to go back at 34w to be re-scanned. If it hasn't moved up I'll be scanned again at 36w and go under consultant care. I won't get my nice water, vaginal birth I'd hoped for but I just want baby to be delivered safely and a planned CS isn't the end of the world.

I'm also very hungry this week, trying to keep it under control but I could graze all day, not interested in big meals.

Dietcoke, only last night was my sister telling me she started braxton hicks at 20 weeks. She was telling me not to be alarmed if it happened. She carried DN to full term. Could be the same thing?!

Readytosettle · 24/04/2013 13:44

jammy your a good few weeks ahead of me so that all adds up right. Just went crazy in the local corner shop and came back with a bag full of junk!

Good to hear everyone's scans are going well... impressed by ur organisation badguider - am pretty sure u get to go back to the hospital for a tour before the big day to get u familiar with the surroundings.

Am on the 2wk wait for mine now....sigh.

frogchops · 24/04/2013 16:13

Great scan news girls. I'm patiently counting down the days to mine. 8 days to go.

Manoodledo · 24/04/2013 16:21

Great to hear all the scan news. Agree that all the baby movement is makes you feel queasy. Whenever I'm sitting still the baby starts up. I wonder when it sleeps. In both my previous pregnancies the babies were hyperactive, but were very chilled out once they were born. Phew!

TMI alert: I think I may have vulval varicose veins Blush. Nice! Haven't had them before. Anyone have any experience of this?

ION: we have just accepted an offer on our house! After less than 2 weeks on the market in the current climate it was pretty unexpected. Panicking slightly that we'll end up homeless if we don't get our skates on.

Creamtea1 · 24/04/2013 16:24

Dietcoke - I've been having tightenings/pains the last 2 weeks - more noticeable after walking, up and down stairs etc. I had these last time too so am sure they are normal.

Re hunger - I'm having opposite now - gone from ravenous all the time to basically never hungry - not bothered either about big meals. My tummy feels permenantly stretched and bloated and is hard now, no flab to pinch. Dont know how its going to double in size! Hence only 1lb on in nearly 3 weeks, woo hoo!
However I am still dreaming about mcflurries SmileSmile

flipflump · 24/04/2013 16:29

Frog, it's so amazing, enjoy it when it comes. The detail is incredible!!!

We asked what flavour it was, we've been desperate to find out. Little bean was being a prude, so we still don't know!! Grin

fl0b0t · 24/04/2013 17:01

Awww great scan news you lot! :-)

As of Monday, baby started kicking! I wonder if my placenta was low/front and moved over the weekend. I thought I had really bad wind (which I did, but because baby was kicking my intestines!!), but it's been really firm KICKS as well as the bubbly windy feeling. Including today when we were interviewing for my maternity cover (eek!- so soon as we need to backfill internal posts with external candidates). Very hard to concentrate, as the kicking is very distracting when you're not used to it!!

Also ravenous, nauseous, windy and (FFS!) sunburnt! Anyone else massively more sensitive to the sun now? I worked from my garden yesterday with factor 50 on for 2 hours and am luminous pink with a heat rash. I rarely burn and look after my skin well.... I just seem so much more sensitive!

8 days til my scan too! Looking forwards to seeing another wriggler- from the 12 wk scan plus the doppler midwife did (kicked the sh*t out of the doppler!), and now the karate in my tummy.... we've deffo got a crazy wriggler! :-)

Anyone else loving being pregnant, despite feeling crappy still? :-)

Manoodledo · 24/04/2013 17:12

Yes to the increased sensitivity to the sun. This has never really gone away since I was first pregnant. If I spend any time outside, even if it's not particularly sunny, I'll come out in insane amounts of freckles.

TripleRock · 24/04/2013 19:09

Just to say...

ITS A BOY!

Really made up to be joining team blue and to be having a baby brother for DD :). Really quite shocked actually!

All was present and correct and bang on measurements, so I guess I'm stuck with my EDD of 16/9 even though I wasn't convinced by that date.

Happy lady this afternoon :)

Congrats to the other scan ladies from today, and good luck for those tomorrow

WaggyBlueElf · 24/04/2013 19:55

Boy here too! And measuring spot on for dates. I'm just relieved he's ok. My placenta is at the front too which is why I haven't felt much - sonographer said I would in the next couple of weeks. All the mums in work tell me I should just enjoy the time without him kicking as I'll be begging him to stop soon!

I just can't believe that in 18 weeks (or so) I'll have a baby boy. Yikes.

Congrats to everyone else with lovely scan news, and good luck to those still waiting - it really is fab seeing them again Smile

CharlW1 · 24/04/2013 20:02

Congrats everyone on all the lively scan news - it's so exciting!

I am pleased to report that I am in a much better mood today - I had a conference at work where I saw loads of people I hadn't seen in ages and it was tight next to the Primark on Oxford St so just had a really
good shop Smile

I too am loving being pregnant and have had some light flutterings too Smile
