Hi ladies, I'm 16+2 and I can only feel movement when I'm completely relaxed and still, generally just before I fall asleep at night. DH is very frustrated, he is desperate to feel it too. Said I was happy to kick him just before he falls asleep each night if that helped!
Has anyone had incompetent cervix before? I have braxton hicks already plus very achy lady bits and wondered if they were linked and signs of cervix not holding out for whole pg.

redandyellowandpinkandgreen · 07/04/2013 20:56

With my first pregnancy I didn't get a proper kick or thump until I was about 22 weeks! There were movements before but I remember clearly the first proper kick.

jennimoo · 07/04/2013 21:23

I felt movement super early first time (13weeks) but I think that having lost a bit of weight and having non-existent tummy muscles really helped. If you aren't feeling much til late you probably just have a lovely toned tummy ;)

DD seems fine so far with the pox although the spots are appearing so fast! She has dozens already, but is sleeping fine so far and doesn't seem to ill with it.

Excited / nervous about scan tomorrow, 9:45am. Anyone else got theirs tomorrow?

RunningBear78 · 08/04/2013 09:21

emma I went for a bike ride yesterday and ever since have been getting twinges too, like quick stabbing pians? Is that what you have, doesn't feel like the baby flutters I have now and then ... Bit worried. Any idea what they might be?

frogchops · 08/04/2013 09:29

Good luck with scan jennimoo....
Running, I get those....and I've been no where near a bike!

EmmaDee · 08/04/2013 10:34

Runningbear, frog, yeah they seem to be worse when I'm standing, I havemt been on a bike in years!!

I went out for dinner last night and after stuffing myself they seemed to get worse and the bottom of my spine was sore!

I have a mw appointment on Wednesday morning, so hopefully she can shed some light, keep googling stuff and freaking myself out! What's spd, could it be that?

fl0b0t · 08/04/2013 10:56

runningbear- It's unlikely it's linked to riding the bike unless you've not ridden much recently? I've been riding and no funny feelings.

I laughed a lot on Saturday night and had a very sore lower abdomen when I went to bed! :(

Things looking up here, feeling a bit less sick, got a funny round bump and got a little more energy :)

andadietcoke · 08/04/2013 11:25

emma spd is when your pelvis separates. It's more likely to be round ligament pain. I've had stabby pains, aches and back ache and they normally precede a growth spurt - had them Friday and Saturday and by today I'm sporting some lovely stretch marks Hmm

Call your mw if you're worried, but for me what you describe is normal, and has been happening throughout the three scans I've had since 12w.

Keepsmilingsunshine · 08/04/2013 11:31

Random question, for some reason I awoke at 3am thinking about this and then didn't get back to sleep until gone 4! When I had DC1 I read that the safest place to seat them in the back behind the passenger seat. Now that DC2 is on the way does DC1 get moved over to behind the driver and DC2 take the safest spot or do you put the baby in the safer car seat behind the driver and leave DC1 in the more vulnerable car seat where he is?

jennimoo · 08/04/2013 13:15

Keep smiling - I've never heard that, DD was always behind drivers seat...

Scan was all good, DD is getting a baby brother! Brought years to my eyes as I suddenly got the image of the 4 of us...

jennimoo · 08/04/2013 13:16

Years! Tears...

kipsonline · 08/04/2013 13:20

Hurrah lovely news jenni and hope the bugs all disappear too now...

JammyTummy · 08/04/2013 13:47

Aww congrats Jenni!

Woman on Radio 2 going on about how Mumsnet is evil... I for one love my Mumsnet!

HettySunshine · 08/04/2013 13:57

I had my 16 week appointment today (at 17+3) and heard littley's little heart beat. It was amazing! All is well and less than 3 weeks to my scan! Woop Grin

jennimoo · 08/04/2013 14:56

I love MN too. The support is invaluable and it's pretty easy to keep out of any nastiness. Especially in those first few weeks being pg when you're supposed to keep it secret.

LexyMa · 08/04/2013 15:03

Bloke at work just told me that three years ago when his wife had 20w scan at Watford General they wouldn't tell them the sex, because they had a significant concern that in the local area people might abort girls Sad. I wonder if it's still the case... either I will find out tomorrow or I could crash the August thread and ask if any of them are Watford mums-to-be who know...?!

This weekend we got to the bottom of why DS (3y 7m) wants to call his baby brother OR sister 'James'... it's nothing to do with tank engines, it's because he loves James May. Yes, him off Top Gear Shock Blush Angry Hmm

DH found this utterly hilarious and having already agreed with DS that 'James' is a good name, is now voting for 'May' if it's a girl. He will get a slap at least if he says that when I'm in labour...

Huge congratulations Jenni Smile.

That made me laugh so much Lexy Grin. As for the scan, you could always give them a quick call?

Glad your apt with the MW went well Hetty we must have the same due date. When is your scan booked for?

smileattherain · 08/04/2013 15:23

Hello, please can I join in, if I'm not too late! Been lurking for ages just trying to pluck up the courage to post...am 18 weeks today with DC2, looking forward to 20 week scan in a couple of weeks and hoping morning sickness might decide to leave me alone soon!

juniper9 · 08/04/2013 15:58

Has anyone had their 20 week scan yet? I'm right at the end of September so always on the tail end of everything... can't remember how far along the furthest person is! Is anyone here more than 19 weeks?

JammyTummy · 08/04/2013 16:03

Welcome smile!

I honestly think I might've driven myself crazy in the first few days/ weeks of knowing I was pregnant if it wasnt for mumsnet- it's such a terrifying time when it's your first and you cannot tell a soul!

Shock @ Watford story! Is that really true?!

kipsonline · 08/04/2013 16:33

My friend lived in Bradford when she had her 2 DC and it was def true there then (not sure now)- no gender reveal allowed in case of girl related abortions. Awful.

LexyMa · 08/04/2013 16:45

juniper it's me and kips with the first 20w scans I think - tomorrow!!

When I had DS I was in NW London, and my hospital trust didn't even send out 20w scan dates as standard, you had to ask specifically. The reason I was given (by sonographer / hosp MW was that there were Brethren/LDS in the area who wouldn't want to know (i.e. pre-empt God's will) about the conditions looked for. Shock

Hi,

MW appt today at 18+4 and heard the heartbeat (150bpm) which was great as I don't have any movements or much of a bump yet.

Scan on 24th April.. just two weeks and two days till we can stop calling it 'it'. Smile

MeanMrsMustard · 08/04/2013 16:51

Just popping by to give a chilled out wave from Barbados. I'm currently relaxing on the balcony watching the sea (and mumsnetting, of course).

It's lovely catching up on scan news. So pleased for everyone that it's all been good news.
I am 20 weeks tomorrow. I'm still not sure If I've felt movement. I think I can (mainly when I'm lying down), but can't be certain it's baby not anything else. My scan is a week today so I have something to look forward to once my holiday is over.

I started off convinced I was having a boy, but now feeling more uncertain about it. Where as I used to have lots of 'boy symptoms' they seem to be being taken over by 'girl symptoms' now! Obviously I'm taking it all with a pinch of salt, but the weight is definately going everywhere now, and I'm hairier than I realised! (I had probably managed to avoid noticing these two things when at home in the cold. It is more apparent here!)

I am going to have to try and slow down my weight gain though. It must be nearing the top of the recommended gain for my height/starting weight at 20 wks. I'd been on a diet before bfp, and was finally managing to lose my non smoking weight. I guess there was little hope for me going from dieter to carb muncher in the space of about 3 weeks! I will have to question my food choices more thoroughly when I get home.

I've heard quite a few hospitals don't tell the sex for that reason. It is quite scary isn't it! I seem to remember slough and Ealing being mentioned.

Glad things seem to be going smoothly for everyone. Good luck with the next flurry of scans.

BinarySolo · 08/04/2013 16:53

Yep I've heard of hospitals having a policy of not revealing the sex due to abortion of girls.

Made a cake today. Would it be very wrong of me to have a second slice?
