here we all are... hoping for nice clear 20w. scans, not too much inadvertent weeing and getting that 'glow'...

redandyellow I started taking 200mg a day of ferrous sulphate after I fainted and have had a lot more energy. Am starting to feel like I should rattle when I walk though...

jennimoo · 07/04/2013 08:25

Just about over my second (or 3rd!!??) bout of flu and have felt quite well for a whole day. This morning DD seems to have chicken pox, so I expect that even if I go alone the hospital won't want me having my 20 week scan tomorrow :(

Manoodledo · 07/04/2013 08:59

oh no Jennimoo! Nightmare. Hope DD isn't too miserable. I've caught the DSs cold and feel achey all over, and going on holiday tomorrow, where according to the forecast i've just checked it will be raining non-stop for at least three of the six days we are there. Great!

jennimoo · 07/04/2013 09:26

DDs fine at the mo, just a little hot, do hopefully wont feel too bad. Nearly got her the vaccine a few months back...

Just got to rearrange scan and work. Was so looking forward to seeing the baby and finding out which it was, as need cheering up and hoping that (and if its s boy the associated shopping for an outfit!) would help me feel less terrified about the prospect of DC2! (Even though we were trying for 6 months...)

jennimoo · 07/04/2013 09:44

The hospital say I can go alone to scan as very little risk to others but DH really wants to come too... I'm exactly 20 weeks tomorrow. Does anyone know what the window is for the '20 week' scan if we postpone?

weebarra · 07/04/2013 09:49

I'm having mine at 21+5 so that's within the window, not sure what the upper limit is though. Hope DD is feeling ok.

Girraferama · 07/04/2013 10:27

Hey Jo I bought 'first time parent' by Lucy Atkins last week and really enjoying it. Can't remember if you are a first timer but id definitely recommend it - really practical and not patronising at all. You can have a sneak peek of contents etc on Amazon.

EmmaDee · 07/04/2013 11:31

Morning all, hope your having a good weekend, and the cold/flu/chicken pox symptoms aren't too bad!

Random question, I've been having weird twinges in my lady bits, is this normal? I'm 16 weeks tomorrow?

jennimoo · 07/04/2013 12:35

Hello. DD seems fine so far. Am going to scan as DHs parents are travelling down to help out :)

And Emma I know what you mean, I think my baby kicks in that direction sometimes, had whole days of funny feelings down there!

EmmaDee · 07/04/2013 12:57

Cheers, but is the baby really that far down!?

Fozziebearmum2b · 07/04/2013 13:53

Thanks Girafferama-will take a look Grin

redandyellowandpinkandgreen · 07/04/2013 14:18

jocheshire I hated the Jo Frost one. I threw it across the room in temper once. I like "what to expect in the first year".

weebarra · 07/04/2013 14:52

I liked "what to expect..." as well.

Eeeknumber3 · 07/04/2013 16:04

Hello all, just catching up, been in Devon for a week with kids and DH, where it was bloody freezing! I had a lot of squirmy type feelings for a few weeks, now at 16 weeks I haven't felt anything for well over a week, am panicking, is that normal?! Help!

HettySunshine · 07/04/2013 16:09

Eeek - I am 17+2 and I haven't felt any movements yet. I think it very much depends on how the baby is lying. Have you had your 16 week appointment yet? Mine's tomorrow, I'm hoping that we'll hear the heartbeat and then I can relax!

badguider · 07/04/2013 16:23

I'm 18+4 and not felt anything yet.
Is it your first? Firsts are not usually felt till 18-20wks.

Eeeknumber3 · 07/04/2013 16:45

Thanks ladies, no its my 3rd, just have a bit of a sinking feeling about it. Had a lot of movement early in week 15 and 14, then nothing. Maybe bubs has moved? Have midwife appt on Wednesday, so will get her to listen in. All my symptoms disappeared around the same time, but guess that is more to do with second trimester...

Eeeknumber3 · 07/04/2013 16:47

Also have chronic sinusitis, have never had this in pregnancy before, it's horrible!

jennimoo · 07/04/2013 17:18

Eek- I definitely had periods of feeling a lot less movement around my 16 week midwife appointment, I remember being very glad they listened for the HB. All is well so I expect its common to feel less at times depending which way baby is lying.
I reckon if you say you're concerned they'd definitely listen tomorrow though.

andadietcoke · 07/04/2013 18:07

Mine's come and gone. Can feel at least one of them most nights but sometimes not for a couple of days. I have one anterior placenta and one posterior placenta, and one baby is cephalic and one transverse so their feet are both in the same place(ish) so I have no idea which one I can feel!!

kipsonline · 07/04/2013 18:51

My baby movements have def come and gone too, some days lots then nothing for a few days...
I also liked what to expect... And i highly recommend a small book called your baby week by week by Simone cave. It's a v simplified wk by wk guide, but I must have lent it out about 10 times and everyone has ended up using it the most for a quick check each wk - I used to keep it near the loo!
We moved the boys into our old room this weekend, in bunks (step 1 of baby prep). We painted a space themed room and moved in a load of their toys, they are ridiculously excited, am not sure when they will actually sleep??!

JammyTummy · 07/04/2013 19:28

I'm glad people are having on off movements! I felt buba kick the first time about two weeks ago (I'm 18+5 now, so it was quite early) and felt it very day since, but some days much much less than others. Reassured by everybody else's experiences!

I bought the Mumsnet baby book which I'm about half way through now, and I'm really liking it. It's quite like a rough guide, and packed full of other mums advice. In that this is my first baby, I was worried I was going to bring it home and spend a long time staring at it having no idea what to do next, so this is giving me a good rough outline without giving too much bossy 'instruction manual' type advice you get in other books.

redandyellowandpinkandgreen · 07/04/2013 19:33

I haven't felt a thing and I'm 16 weeks with my second.

Keepsmilingsunshine · 07/04/2013 19:55

Hope your DD is feeling ok Jennimo and your scan goes well tomorrow.

I loved 'what to expect..' with DC, but sadly it was one of the items that I lent and was never returned.

Feeling some definite movement finally [17+2]. I think I have for a couple weeks but only when sitting and I wasn't too sure, but now defiantly baby flutters most days. Grin Does anyone have any idea when they might start to become stronger?

Creamtea1 · 07/04/2013 20:21

I'm 18+3 and only felt a definite something yesterday. This is my third so fairly sure it was baby - however not a peep out of him/her since!
