here we all are... hoping for nice clear 20w. scans, not too much inadvertent weeing and getting that 'glow'...

redandyellow - good attitude :)

badguider · 05/04/2013 13:54

I'm fascinated by my weight gain but not too worried - I'm a little bit worried about being too heavy to move at 35-40 weeks but I'm not worried about losing it afterwards as I can't wait to get back to proper exercise and have practically signed up for buggy boot camp already (god i miss running and biking really hard!).

Anyway, I put on 4kg before my booking in appt and just another 2 since then.

My book says that we should expect to have gained about 6kg by now so that's just right.

badguider · 05/04/2013 13:56

6kg is 13.3lbs by the way so anybody who has gained less than a stone is perfectly on track for healthy gain Grin

HettySunshine · 05/04/2013 15:56

I'm not too worried about weight gain at the moment. I'm 5'10 and I was pretty slim to start with so can put plenty on before I need to start fretting about it.

Just leaves more time for worrying about everything else!

KamikazeeKid · 05/04/2013 16:02

Gosh I put on 7lbs but had put on more than thst during first trimester during my eat to cure nausea stage but have lost a few lbs since eating normally again....however my BMI is a LOT higher than all those mentioned that im too embarrassed to admit now.....I do think whoever said not to obsess over weight in pregnancy is right...now is not the time! Worry about that post birth but when bf I had the worst raging hunger!

I've had the worst day with ds who is around 20months and after his public meltdown I melted down as I have no idea how I am going to cope with 2 young ones...I know you just do but am in a bad place figuring how I will!!!!

Def not a good Friday this week!

KamikazeeKid · 05/04/2013 16:04

...and just to let me know bubs is there....he/she has spent the entire day kicking me in the fanjo....

jennimoo · 05/04/2013 16:15

Kamikazee - i know what you mean...I got all upset yesterday as DD wouldn't nap and potty training has been a disaster so I was thinking 'what am I doing having another?' Then felt guilty in case some thing goes wrong :(

Hoping that Mondays scan and finding out what I'm having will help me feel better!

weebarra · 05/04/2013 16:25

I haven't really put on anything, maybe a couple of pounds. However, my BMI was a lot higher than anyone has mentioned so far. I also had an addiction to CocaCola (not diet!), which I have finally managed to kick, so that probably explains why I haven't put on any more weight.

WhizzsMum · 05/04/2013 20:46

Hi ladies, not posted for weeks as we moved and were without broadband. Rather frustrating.
The 12 week scan went well, only cooking the one! Having a 16 week scan next wed as the consultant believes I have an incompetent cervix!! How dare I? I did ask was that the most medical term for it?! DD aged 4 is very excited about coming to the scan Smile
RE weight gain, I'm only 16 weeks and some of my maternity clothes I was wearing at 6months+ last time are not fitting now. My pre preg weight this time was lower than last. Not worried though, just very excited that people can tell I'm pregnant! Smile
Lovely to be back on here and catching up with everyone again.

SGJ · 05/04/2013 21:04

Jemimah - one good thing about your 2 stone weight loss - my weight with DD was the same as yours (though I'm shorter) and like you I'd lost 2 stone before getting pregnant. When I naturally put on weight with DD (about 2 stone in total, I think) I was apprehensive just like you, but lost it all within the 9 months following the birth, and what's even better, having been 2 stone heavier in the past, I didn't get a single stretch mark! NOT A SINGLE ONE! I'm sure it's down to being a bit squishy previously so basically I guess I'm saying, don't fret, sounds like you're right on track and all the weight will disappear again in time. Smile

Dorita75 · 06/04/2013 07:47

I'm with you red and I don't even own a set of scales. It's my first baby and my weight is the one thing I'm relaxed about!!

JammyTummy · 06/04/2013 10:50

Does anybody know if there is anything at all we can take for hayfever? Eyes are killing me!

jennimoo · 06/04/2013 11:03

Doctor prescribed me a nasal spray last time, so worth making an appointment on Monday. I doubt chemist can help...

Creamtea1 · 06/04/2013 12:50

I've seen a new nasal spray advertised called Prevaline, it looks quite good (for hay fever) - should be able to get that from the chemist?

juniper9 · 06/04/2013 12:55

Clarityn is safe in pregnancy.

fl0b0t · 06/04/2013 15:45

D'oh my hayfever hasn't started yet but I think my anti-sickness drugs are antihistamines also :-)

JoCheshire10 · 06/04/2013 16:04

Jammy-I have bad hay fever, but thankfully not too bad so far... MW told me there is a brand we can take - think its Piriton, but may well be Clariton as suggested by Jammy, worth checking with Pharmacist

JammyTummy · 06/04/2013 16:17

Will have a look at Clarityn thanks! I bought piriteze earlier And didn't see anything on it- till after I paid for it, at closer inspection. Silly.

juniper9 · 06/04/2013 16:47

From the nhs website

If you're pregnant and feel that you need antihistamines, or you're advised to take them by your GP, loratadine or chlorphenamine are the antihistamines that considered the safest to use.
However, chlorphenamine is a first-generation antihistamine, so it may make you feel drowsy.
If you can't take loratadine or chlorphenamine, your GP may recommend another oral antihistamine called cetirizine. Cetirizine is also considered safe to use during pregnancy

LexyMa · 06/04/2013 20:25

I get hayfever usually but (bizarrely I think, given that I am more highly sensitive to smell when pregnant) I didn't seem to get many symptoms at all in my first pregnancy. If I do, loratidine doesn't seem to work for me so I go straight to cetirizine. But always remember it's a cumulative drug so you can't just pop one when your eyes water, you have to take it every day and build it up.

Re the midwife not listening for heartbeat. I called her and she said that the Nice guidelines say not to before 20 weeks now and if she hadn't been able to find anything she couldn't refer me anyway. Seems bizarre compared to everyone else's experience. Anyway she's agreed that at 20 weeks I can have an appointment to listen to the heart so that's good. I borrowed a monitor thingy from a friend but can't find anything with it but it hasn't worried me, will keep trying!

badguider · 06/04/2013 21:35

heartburn HELL here today SadAngry

couldn't even enjoy a cup of tea let alone food all day today.

Manoodledo · 06/04/2013 22:11

My midwife also told me that she wasn't supposed to listen for the heartbeat before 20 weeks in case they weren't able to find it and freaked people out, but said if I wasn't put off by that possiblility she would do it, which she did.

ION, DS1 (aged 6) really made me laugh today. He goes through phases of asking me endless questions about the baby and I ended up trying to explain that the baby has everything it needs inside me and he said 'A torch?'. Ha ha, that would be useful I'm sure. He also asked me if the baby knows where it is and we had an interesting conversation about early thought processes. Deep!

redandyellowandpinkandgreen · 06/04/2013 23:05

Is anyone anaemic this early? I've been taking iron tablets for two days and swear I feel better already!

JoCheshire10 · 07/04/2013 07:24

Morning everyone-can anyone recommend a good baby book? Had a look on amazon and I've seen Jo Frosts book but no idea if it will be useful or not... Does anyone have any recommendations? Smile
