Will this one take us through to the end of the first trimester? Will the sickness ever end? Will we be able to judge genders from those first scan pictures? These and many other mysteries to be solved in... THREAD 4

Terrifiednewbie, I am sorry to hear about the non viable twin. Even if you didn't know it was there, finding the now empty sack is still sad news. So pleased that you have one healthy baby and your mind was put at rest about the spotting.

Natalieand · 20/03/2013 07:15

Awe poor u terrifiednewbie but at least baby number 1 is all looking good, put your mind at rest :-).

Who has scans today then?

I'm 10 weeks today, 2 weeks till scan day :-) xxx

PseudoBadger · 20/03/2013 07:33

Ah good Tarlia, I'm still feeding my 26 month old when he asks (am and pm and naps, and if sick/sad). It was a bit painful a couple of weeks ago but seems ok again now.

JellyCurls · 20/03/2013 08:16

tucking I confess to guessing you we're in Ayrshire too, not many places on west of Scotland you can see three islands from. We had a medical delivery for dc1 as scan showed up problems. With dc2 they offered medical as a precaution as my pelvis had split (ouch) and I will be requesting medical side again. Medical delivery side is not as homely but you cannot be left without a MW at any time. Down side is no birthing pool but I would rather have a midwife than a pool.

Good luck to scan ladies today and congrats on yesterday's scans

Warlin · 20/03/2013 08:22

Congrats legally that's fab news. My brother has twins and SIL breast fed them at the start...not for very long but she was able to do it. They found it tough for the forst couple of years but now the twins are 3 and brilliant fun. They already had 2 dc.

MY consultant was also telling me about one of his clients that had twins around the same time I had DS (9 months ago) and she is now pregnant with triplets! She is massively shell shocked! You will be fine and think how lovely it will be once they are a bit older and can play with eachother and your DD.

I can't get booked in for my nucal scan with my consultant as the times he has available dont suit and I really need to get it done in the next 2 weeks. Think I'm going to have to go to someone else. I'm 32 so not high risk but have Downs in the family so am always terrified of it!

BowlFullofJelly · 20/03/2013 08:44

Just to add my congrats Legally - must be a big shock when you have no family or treatment history to increase chances! I was quite relieved when there was only one bubba at my scan, but also a tiny a bit disappointed as although twins are tough, I bet it must be great fun!

Sorry to hear about the empty sac terrified, but great news on the healthy kicking little one!

littleduck how did your appointment go? Did you get some treatment? If not, turn up today an refuse to leave until you are taken seriously - unfortunately with the NHS sometimes the only way to get what you need is to kick up a fuss.

Scan tomorrow, and all of these lovely positive stories are making me very very excited! Am debating telling work on Friday if all good, as have to travel again next week and can't be bothered with the excuse making to avoid alcohol. Also the two best things about where I am going - beer and mussels - are off the menu Sad.

Had weird dream last night - was pregnant by Massoud from Eastenders (no idea where this has come from), as was the young woman that he was having an affair with. She gave birth, then I gave birth two days later - but couldn't remember how far along I was. Then I was cuddling and feeding thin air, as I realised I couldn't have had the baby yet as am only twelve weeks. Woke up feeling very confused as to whether I had already had my baby. Just thought I'd share as freaked me out a bit!

Umlauf · 20/03/2013 08:46

Wow what a lot has happened!

Congratulations legally what a surprise! How exciting! I wonder what combination you'll have! Time to rethink buggies too!

newbie what bittersweet news for you, but a lovely strong little bean to wave at is fantastic!

No transvag for me either just normal ultrasound with a newer machine it seems but ill still drink before in hope of a clearer pic! Can't wait! Scan then holiday, this is a good month!

Haylebop12 · 20/03/2013 09:05

Oh newbie I don't know how I would feel about that tbh. Take it easy Thanks

Back to work for me today after a month off sick! The doc was prepared to sign me off more but I have annual leave next week anyway. Only working 2/3 shifts however so only doing 16 hours. I run shifts usually but I have the manager on with me tonight so if I don't feel up to it I am able to leave. Wouldn't normally be able to do this without getting another management member in so I'm pleased there's no pressure.

House move went well yesterday, I usually get stuck right in as I can lift a decent weight eg. Washing machine and sofas etc but I wasn't allowed to help so enjoyed bossing everyone else Smile. I was quite happy to do my bit but didn't put up a fight when I was told light boxes only Grin not staying there yet though as both DH and I working late dd will be at my mums sleeping.

Happy Wednesday to you all!

Crookie1 · 20/03/2013 09:31

Hello all, haven't you been busy!

So lovely to hear all the scan news. I am 8 weeks today, bit of a milestone for me as believe odds start getting better from here. Don't have my scan for another 4 weeks (due30 oct) and last 4 weeks seem to have taken forever!

Mostly a check in and hello and look forward to reading more good news. Feel a bit distant being at the back of the pack but helpful to know what's coming!

Crookie1 · 20/03/2013 09:34

Also congratulations on the twins Legally blonde! My husband is a twin and is starting to think we are going to have them as I have already expanded so much (only put on a pound!) we shall see!

Rockchick1984 · 20/03/2013 09:45

Congratulations Legally!

Sorry to hear your news Newbie but glad there's one healthy bean growing in there.

Hi Crookie I'm 9+5 so not massively far ahead, the last couple of weeks have gone a bit quicker for me so hopefully you'll find the same. Once booking appt happened, it all started feeling very real!

Hayle glad the house move went well, an that you're managing back at work. Make sure your manager knows you're not really well enough to be there (but don't go on about it to him/her too much) - perfect way to earn brownie points :)

Umlauf if you have a full bladder and baby is in a bad position, emptying it usually makes them shift so worth it anyway I think!

Good luck for tomorrow Bowl - I've been having freaky dreams too, although lots about miscarrying, think it's just a mix of hormones and subconscious! Last time I remember further into pregnancy being roasting hot at night and having crazy trippy dreams so probably end up with them again, what fun!!

Warlin 5 kids under 2 - that's madness!! Good luck to her...

Hello to everyone I've missed!

My dodgy tummy is back, it's not constant but all of a sudden it starts hurting and I have to dash to the loo Blush DH seems to remember me having it in early pregnancy last time but I must have blocked the memory out Grin Sickness seems to have calmed down now though thankfully! Other than that no news here, just plodding along waiting for my scan.

roofio87 · 20/03/2013 09:58

morning everyone!! glad to hear we're all doing well.
glad scans have all gone well so far. terrified like others have said, that must be very bitter sweet news, but so glad that the one baby is going strong.
I'm 11+1 today and less than a week till scan, I can not wait!! off work for a week now so very happy about that, going to spend the weekend with my family and I'm sure my neice and nephew are going to get even more cuddles than normal!!
Hope everyone is feeling well today!! Smile

SeriousStuff · 20/03/2013 10:08

I may be overreacting here but I can't get hold of DH to help me calm down.

Just had a call from the hospital to reschedule my meeting with the midwife and they said I'm also booked in for another scan in April to date the baby. I was taken aback by this because when I had the 12 week scan yesterday, they dated me at 10+3 so I asked them if I'd need to come back in and they said no, they had all the measurements they needed. I'm so worried as we've now started to tell people because yesterday went so well.

I've obviously worked myself into a state now, worrying that maybe something is/or will be wrong. Can anyone offer some advice?

BowlFullofJelly · 20/03/2013 10:18

Serious don't panic, it will just be a miscommunication internally. It might be policy to have another scan if dated before 11 weeks, and sonographer didn't make clear they had what she needed. Or are you planning on having the combined tests - if so I think you were too early for nuchal fold. I would just enjoy getting another scan Grin

SeriousStuff · 20/03/2013 10:22

Thanks BowlFull - my train of thought just went mad! I just needed someone to calm me down!

MouseInAHouse · 20/03/2013 10:23

Serious They can only do the nuchal scan when the baby is between 11 & 14 weeks, so that's probably why they want you back. Some hospitals do give you an earlier dating scan if you are not sure of your dates so they can get you in at the right time.

MouseInAHouse · 20/03/2013 10:26

Crookie I'm also only just 8 weeks - definitely feels like we're playing catch-up!

MotherOfNations · 20/03/2013 10:26

Rockchick I've had a dodgy stomach too. I have IBS that is always worse in pregnancy and I know that eating peanuts means having a sore stomach and being on the loo for the next 3 days, but when DD had a bag of Bombay mix on Saturday I couldn't resist eating all the peanuts from it. I'm regretting it now.

SeriousStuff · 20/03/2013 11:26

Thanks Mouse , can't believe how much I overreacted! Was sat here in tears! I'm blaming the hormones...

star87 · 20/03/2013 11:47

Hi all!!

Trying to read through all the posts and catch up with how everyone's doing.

I had my booking in appointment yesterday... all seemed a little pointless. I was expecting them to confirm the pregnancy and give me to clear indication that I'm not imagining it all, but I got nothing. I thought they'd go through my family history, which they didn't!

However I did get my referral to the hospital of my choice and only have to wait two and a bit more weeks for my scan :-)

SeriousStuff · 20/03/2013 11:51

star87 was the app with the midwife? Mine has had to be rescheduled but I've already had to fill in a big booklet with details of family health history etc... and there's a sheet in there to go through with your MW re. which scans/tests you want or not. Glad you got your scan date though - that's what we're all really interested in!

34PinkLadyApple · 20/03/2013 12:16

serious don't worry, rather have 2 scans than 1! They wouldnt be worried about anything during the first and not told you while you were there. It's definately a error or a call back for your NT scan and bloods.

I've tried to make my scan pic public, please try clicking on my name and let me know. fankoooo.

roxvox · 20/03/2013 12:24

I can see your little baby 34pinkladyapple! Can't wait to have mine 1 week tomorrow!

BowlFullofJelly · 20/03/2013 12:32

Yay - I can see your baby too 34 - so exciting. My god I'm welling up, bloody hormones!

34PinkLadyApple · 20/03/2013 12:39

oh good! Not a great pic as we saw must more during the scan but I am treasuring it all the same. Grin. Hope to see lots more pics of your lovely beans soon x
