Will this one take us through to the end of the first trimester? Will the sickness ever end? Will we be able to judge genders from those first scan pictures? These and many other mysteries to be solved in... THREAD 4

BowlFullofJelly · 19/03/2013 11:14

D'oh! Blush. Verbaudet - www.vertbaudet.co.uk. They have some nice stuff actually.

MrsZzz · 19/03/2013 12:27

Thanks for the sympathy... I'm still fuming but to have people blab about mc is so much worse so I've got a bit of perspective now- how insensitive!

Congratulations 34, it's lovely to read good news :)

Anyone else at work and supposed to be doing something useful? I'm so tired today I just can't dredge up the energy to care!

Iheartcrunchiebars · 19/03/2013 12:38

In self employed too as is my husband. Both me and DH are both able to take 6 months off from October which we are so grateful for. It just means we have to work 10 hour days, 7 days a week from now until then!!

Love hearing all the scan stories.. Keep them coming!

Warlin · 19/03/2013 12:39

Hi All

Sorry havent posted in a while, just been really busy with a snotty, coughing, not sleeping baby and returning to work after mat leave.

Had my scan week before last and all seemed fine, though the consultant did say I was measuring 9 weeks instead of 10. He said not to worry as the slightest mm out at this stage can make that much of a difference but still left me a bit uneasy. I'm 12 weeks on Thursday so have started telling a few people (though not work yet!).

We are planning on having the nucal scan in the next couple of weeks so looking forward to seeing the little bean again.

Really cant concentrate in work. So hard being back after 9.5 months off and also distracted. Dreading telling them that I will be going off again....

Good luck to everyone with scans this week.

Warlin · 19/03/2013 12:46

sparkleigh I'm NI too and got one letter for the booking appointment which said I may be offered a scan (which I was). I had requested it early as I was returning to work so had it at 10 weeks exactly. The MW apt sounds a strange one as I think you would have your booking apt/ scan first....

What hospital is it with?

Tarlia · 19/03/2013 13:41

Congratulations on all the lovely scan news, it's starting to get very real isn't it!? I've still got ages to mine, but am 11+2 today and still feeling incredibly sick.

Iheartcrunchiebars · 19/03/2013 13:48

Oh no Tarlia you poor thing. Hopefully it won't last too long!

Sparkeleigh · 19/03/2013 13:52

Warlin it's the Ulster hospital in Dundonald. My midwife appt is at my local health centre. It did seem strange to me, but there wasn't much info in the letters.

I haven't wanted to ring up the maternity booking line to bother them but I might just to satisfy my curiosity.. Thanks for replying!

Warlin · 19/03/2013 14:09

sparkeleigh I'm going through the Ulster hospital too! If you are invited up for your booking appointment, you can always get a scan done too as there will be a doctor there doing them. Not sure what the midwife apt is for at this stage but I would assume your hospital apt will be for a booking apt and scan. Be prepared to wait though as we were there for 2.5 hours!

Sparkeleigh · 19/03/2013 14:10

Oh my goodness, I just rang and it is my scan next Wednesday, the Monday appt is the booking in. So excited now! Grin

Sparkeleigh · 19/03/2013 14:19

Cross post! Thanks Warlin, I'd better bring a book then!

SeriousStuff · 19/03/2013 14:43

Got my scan - apparently am only 10+3! But they were happy with what they saw - a baby with a healthy heart beat, kicking away as the nurse pressed down on my stomach - and they don't need to see me til my 20 week scan now!

We did have a false start though as I hadn't drunk enough! So was sent to the canteen and downed a bottle of water and two bottles of Ribena in 10mins.

We've started telling people - hoping we're not jinxing it!

34Pink glad yours went well! Incredible how dates can vary from working out OV and AF, to early scans and 12 week scans!

littleducks · 19/03/2013 15:18

Quick post from outside drs. So can't reply to others, but kind of begging for advice.

Saw MW this morning who didn't check urine for ketones just glucose and protein and told me to go to GP about sickness. Just had appointment with practice nurse, ketones are 4+. Only urine I have made today is twos sample bottles. Been told to come back to see dr at 8pm, late night surgery tonight so no drs around this afternoon Hmm.

I feel a bit neglected, reckon even if I get anti sickness drugs tonight I will be too sick to keep tablets down.

Tarlia · 19/03/2013 15:20

Thank you, crunchie. Brew

Really interesting to hear that uk still request full bladders over most of the country, we don't have to do that here, though our 39% (ouch!) tax rate probably explains why!

Good luck, leigh! Exciting stuff: D

Natalieand · 19/03/2013 16:05

How many days has that put u forwar by 34? And how many days back serious I'm dreading being put backwards at my scan xx

Umlauf · 19/03/2013 17:08

Ouch, where are you Tarlia? I don't have to either in Spain but am not sure why! I was thinking about doing it anyway just in case it gets a clearer pic or something, but don't want to wet myself!

34PinkLadyApple · 19/03/2013 17:21

natalie Was exactly 12 weeks today but they measured me as 12.6! I'm not complaining and also not surprised as I know when me and H2B 'did it'. That means only 7 weeks now till my 20 week scan on May 8th Grin.

Not sure how they do it everywhere else but we saw loads of movement from different angles and she asked me to cough to get it to move more which it did. it even turned around completely to face the other direction then looked right at us (I instinctively said 'oh hello' Blush and felt immediately silly). She asked how many pics we wanted and I said 3 but we could only have 3 the same. Just as she freeze framed, it turned away and she seemed in a rush so we haven't got a great profile pic. Make sure when you have yours you push for a good pic!

I'll try and get it loaded up on here, no idea how!

Natalieand · 19/03/2013 17:32

Wow I'm Jel 34like skipping a whole week of pregnancy all in one go lol. As long as they don't move me backwards ill be happy. Glad u got a good pic too :-)

34PinkLadyApple · 19/03/2013 17:33

Ok, scan pic uploaded. Think you can view it by clicking on my name..?
Head on the left, faint arm, hand and a foot!

34PinkLadyApple · 19/03/2013 17:34

nat not a great pic so i advise making sure you get one!

slippysnow · 19/03/2013 18:54

Thanks for trying to share your scan photo 34 but I think your profile might be set to private as you cannot click on your name. :) I'm so excited about the scan, it's so amazing to hear people's experiences

legallyblond · 19/03/2013 19:31

Hi all. A bit too shocked still to update properly.... Had 12 week scan today and it's TWINS!!!! Totally and utterly unexpected.... Thrilled as they both look fine, but feeling v overwhelmed as its so unknown. I know all about having one and feel confident about that. I just feel a bit, well happy, but also in shock!!!!

Almost certainly non identical as two sacks and two placentas.

slippysnow · 19/03/2013 19:45

Congratulations that's amazing news! I wonder if they will be b/b g/g or b/g.
As I was on medication to kickstart ovulation they told me I had a 13% chance of multiple births (including trips!). I completely dismissed it for ages but as I'm getting closer to the scan I am starting to wonder.

Double the fun and double the mess ;)
