Will this one take us through to the end of the first trimester? Will the sickness ever end? Will we be able to judge genders from those first scan pictures? These and many other mysteries to be solved in... THREAD 4

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MrsZzz · 19/03/2013 06:30

Rockchick- I said we weren't telling people yet. I'm just annoyed it turned into her gossip rather than my news I guess... She was perfect last time so I foolishly assumed she would remember what a big deal this is. To her credit she was really apologetic, but still Hmm

Anyway, good luck for anyone with scans today

Natalieand · 19/03/2013 06:37

OMG I feel like a new woman!!! 9+6 today (oh boy i cant wait to say 10 weeks) and dh kindly offered to sleep downstairs last night so his snoring wouldn't keep me awake ALL night for a 5th night. I only woke once for a wee it feels like I have fresh brand new eyes :-) happy pregnant lady today :-)

Good luck to those having scans today! Don't forget to let us no how u get on :-) is there any way we can share scan pics with each other? Xxx

JellyCurls · 19/03/2013 06:38

Where is best place to go to get measured for a bra? Tried to put one on this morning and seems like I have grown overnight. I know M&S doesn't get good reviews but where does. No fancy shops near me but can get to a debenhams and a few stand alone bra shops

pinksky · 19/03/2013 06:38

Juniper, hayle, tiger, ananikifo and pinkbuttons many congratulations on your great scans, how wonderful. And amazing to see the babies doing things kicking, hands over face, wow.

I'm sorry to hear people having their news told for them, or in a way they're not happy with. That's really not OK. My mum is the opposite, won't tell anyone til after 12 weeks 'just in case'. I think I'd rather she was a bit more optimistic!

PseudoBadger · 19/03/2013 06:41

Jelly come and ask for advice here :)

pinksky · 19/03/2013 06:43

Jelly if you have a tape measure I would recommend measuring yourself. You can also get measured instore somewhere but I find it helpful to have an idea myself.
These instructions are quite clear.
I've seen lots of people recommend bravissimo too, but there aren't many stores around.

pinksky · 19/03/2013 06:44

Great thread, Pseudo!

marriednotdead · 19/03/2013 06:48

Pinksky Those instructions involve adding inches to find your band size. No, no, no!

funkky · 19/03/2013 06:53

12 weeks today and its mixed emotions. I feel grateful and just happy! Off for GP appointment as my left hip ( more butt cheek) really hurts and will insist on a referral to physio as MW wanted to see how it goes. Turns to a waddle/ limp whenhn i have been standing or sitting for too long. It also feels heavy in lower belly/pubic area.

Scan on Thursday and DH has taken te day off! Lol. Somehow, siblings must suspect as we have been keeping away at family gatherings and siblings on both sides have made arrangements to see us this weekend. Perfect cause we wanted to tell them this weekend after scan.

Anyone started lathering on biooil/ palmers cocoa butter? I always used biooil anyway but more concentrated now on potential stretch mark areas.

All the stories on here have really helped, happy people are seeing thir little bean wiggling about.

Iheartcrunchiebars · 19/03/2013 06:58

Natalie I can't believe you lasted that long! Me and DH have been sleeping apart for the last 2 weeks...it's lush! He snores and I get up every 30 mins to drink/pee. It's much better!!

Funkky I've been cocoa buttering tummy and boobs since my bfp. I already have stretch marks on my thighs and hips from puberty and font want anymore!

OrangeBlossom2 · 19/03/2013 07:03

Mrszzz sorry your mum blabbed your news. I was really worried my mil would do the same so when we told them we went ott about it being riky early days and that we weren't telling anyone else. I think it meant they were less excited than they would have been, quite subdued. But perhaps it was necessary after all! Hopefully news hasn't spread too wide and you can announce yourself when you are ready.

JellyCurls · 19/03/2013 07:18

Cheers pseudo can't wait to get home and measure properly will need to lock bathroom door so dc1 doesn't ask weird questions and then tell her teacher so will measure properly the see where to go from ther.

Thanks for the help x

CelticPromise · 19/03/2013 07:35

Jelly definitely come on over to the bra thread. Measuring services are mostly useless. I secret shopped M&S and Mothercare for the Bra Guru blog. I got fitted in a 36C and a 38E- I currently wear a 30HH Hmm

Also, it's worth knowing that there is no need for soft bras for pregnancy and bfing. As long as the bra fits properly and the wires don't dig into breast tissue, underwired is fine.

34PinkLadyApple · 19/03/2013 07:47

Congrats to all the scanned ladies from yesterday (cant scroll for name checks sorry). Will let u know hiw i get on with mine later. Didnt sleep that well but im alive with nervous energy!

Rockchick1984 · 19/03/2013 08:12

Good luck 34!!

Mrszzz that's awful that she told when you'd asked her not to - I just know some people who have told everyone right from the word go so thought unless you'd asked her to keep it to herself, maybe she hadn't realised.

I used this last pregnancy and no stretch marks although I know all the creams and oils can't actually make a difference, it felt lovely and really eased the itching as I got bigger, and smelt amazing!

Feeling a bit crap today - upset tummy again and didn't have a good nights sleep. Then toddler DS woke at 6am, so have been dozing on the couch for the last 2 hours with cbeebies on Blush

PseudoBadger · 19/03/2013 08:18

Mrszzz - When I was pg with DS as far as I know my parents told no one. However last pregnancy (a mc) my mum told her friend (as her daughter was also expecting Hmm ) and then they both told loads of people that I'd miscarried! I was (and still am) furious - and therefore I haven't told them yet this time - even though we live with them and it's bloody difficult.

BowlFullofJelly · 19/03/2013 08:42

Congrats everyone who was scanned yesterday - I didn't realise there were so many! Serious and 34, let us know how you get on! It would be lovely to see some scan pics!

We are all moving on so quickly now - you realise there will be a December thread in a matter of days!!

Didn't cry from tiredness this morning so that's a bonus! Really must get on with some work today as did sod all yesterday. Have a great day everyone!

Sal1977 · 19/03/2013 09:06

Are there any others that are self employed? Just wondered what your plans are for Mat leave. I reckon i'll have to work up to the birth then I can probsbly manage about 4 weeks (health probs aside) before I have to go back to the grindstone....

Sparkeleigh · 19/03/2013 09:14

Hi everyone, just popping in to say hello on the new thread! lovely to hear about the scans.
I'm a bit confused about mine, I got two letters, one for a midwife appt on Monday and a second for a hospital appointment on Wednesday. I'll only be 9+6 though, do you think it'll be a booking in appt rather than a scan? I'm in Northern Ireland.

JellyCurls · 19/03/2013 09:22

sal I am self employed also and will be working as long as am able to then will survive on savings as long as possible till time to go back

Tarlia · 19/03/2013 09:27

Marking my place - 6 pages since yesterday morning, ladies! Wow!! Off to catch up, might take a while with DS around!

HotSoupDumpling · 19/03/2013 09:51

Congrats to all relevant people on the great scan news!

MrsZ and Pseudo - my mum and MIL are as bad as each other. Have warned them that if they tell anyone, next time round they won't get the news until everyone else does at 12 weeks!

I've started using bio oil, but only occasionally and just for the hell of it, as I have a big bottle from Amazon left over from when I was trying to get rid of some scarring. I don't rate it to be honest - it's mostly mineral oil which is not great for the skin. I'd prefer organic stuff from mama mio etc.

Has anyone started kegel exercises yet? My midwife told me to start Hmm but I'm reluctant to because I'm lazy. (see, no self-delusions here!)

thethreeblondies · 19/03/2013 09:56

Pseudo I had exactly the same re mc last year, it was pretty horrible (had to tell close family who didn't even know I was pg) and my Dad told a right local gossip he works with and now half the town seems to know, I told him not to discuss me with her but think it must have been too late already! Have told no one that I'm pg and bit scared of announcing it, I'll be first in large extended family to have 3 and some people will prob think it's an accident and not as very wanted as it is!

Had a lovely text from the trainee midwife who is case loading me, feel very privileged to have personal one to one care.

Right need to recover the house from DD1's 8th bday last week and prepare for DD2's 4th bday on Thursday! (plus it was our wedding anniversary yesterday!) Smile

Sal1977 · 19/03/2013 10:09
